I am thoroughly impressed with this quaint pie shop. Pie crust is flaky and the meat filling is savory as the name suggests. One pie is big enough as a lunch. So far I have tried roast chicken and apple pie. I also bought several different kinds of frozen pies to try at home. I cant wait to try them all.

The flavors are good! As part of an American/Australian couple, we are very familiar with meat pies. Pros: The flavor of these are pretty good! Cons: It’s expensive for what it is. These are maybe $5 in Australia, yet $11 here. The pastry is a little damp inside - it’s been frozen and somehow reheated. We asked for tomato sauce and the employee gave us 3 ketchup packets and said that’s all he had. It would be tasty if the owners import some good tomato sauce to go with the pies! We got takeout from Tip Top the other day. We had one steak and ale pie, one chicken pie, and a cherry pie. I ended up with a mixed impression. The food was tasty, and of high quality, but both meat pies were of questionable value: not enough meat and vegetables. The cherry pie, on the other hand was great: packed with fruit and not too sweet. Overall, it was pretty good.

Oh My Goodness... The absolute best pies around. A must stop for anyone close by. Or take the drive to Lafayette and experience this wonderful little knook tucked right in the middle of town. Chris was particularly friendly as I rolled up to the window just before close. I loaded up with a steak and ale, steak and cheese, and a curry chicken pie - the family loved it. Thats when I decided we needed to those same pies home frozen - along an apple pie and some ice cream home.I would highly recommend - this place is a destination!I am anticipating they will have gluten-free on the menu soon, so if this is important to you, be patient.

I received a menu for this place in the mail so my son and I rode our bikes over for breakfast- the young man working there greeted us as soon as we walked in and was very upbeat and walked us through the menu (he really set a great vibe). The place has a positive energy, fun music playing, and a patio w games. The nitro coffee was great but the soda my son got was absolutely delicious. He loved the bacon pie and I think I will get that next time. We will be back for ice cream and I think this will become a regular hang out for our family!

Not only are the pies great but the ice cream is also amazing. After the steak and ale pie I ate, I had an apple pie as well. Just a cool little spot, man. I post up every pay day weekend because I cant stay away. One pie will keep you going the entire day. The fillings are savory, and well seasoned, but the crust is going to make a fanatic out of you if youre a crust fiend. Theres seating outside, and its a beautiful part of town to take your meal on a walk. If youre in Denver this is worth taking a drive out the city for.

Ever since going to Australia, I have been looking for the savory pies. These are the New Zealand style so shaped like pies and every bit as delicious. You can get breakfast style(brekkie) or even apple and cherry along with the savory choices. Never had one I didnt love. The best part is you get get some frozen to go. Absolutely one of my favorite places!!

I am afraid to talk about this place because I dont want it to become overrun with customers. Some of the best food, in a pie, I have ever had! There is quite a variety of flavors available to try as you can see from my picture of the menu. The breakfast Brekkies are 2 whole eggs with either sausage, bacon or green chilies. Everything here is delicious and the entire staff are super friendly, as is the owner.

Pretty tasty. We got the chicken/curry and the steak/cheese pies. However, they are extremely overpriced now. In the past they were something like $9 for a single-serving pie (already quite high, all considered, but easier to stomach). Now they are effectively $14+ per pie ($11.50 each + $1 per pie Pie fee + tax), with no sides included. I know businesses are hurting this past year, but at this price I cant justify the value proposition.

Im so glad to have this place in Lafayette! They have a great selection of savory and sweet pies and they rotate in seasonal specials. The steak and cheese is my go-to favorite! The pie crust is flaky and delicious and they actually heat up really nicely from frozen (they have directions on their website, though I tend to need a bit more time to cook than they suggest). Also, the staff is super friendly and helpful. I wholeheartedly recommend this place!

Great savory pies! This place had a surf shop feel. It has a great selection of savory pies ( Ratatoutille, Steak n Ale, Ragu, curry chicken, etc) and a few sweet ones (peach & cherry). They also sell a few New Zealand food products. There is an outdoor seating area to the left of the shop, super cute place. Bonus: they provide HP sauce with your pies!

Tip top offers a relatively unique concept, very good customer service and, most importantly, tasty and satisfying food. We, three adults a two-year old and a dog, showed up on a hot weekday afternoon. Before we were seated, I inquired about the nitro cold brew coffee listed on the wall sign board. Instead of a puffery description, the owner drew me a good-sized portion in a cup. It was great. The five of us then sat in one of the two partially-covered outside eating areas. There were two gentle misters which made the heat more comfortable.Given that Tip Top is all about savory pies, we ordered an individual pie for each adult. They were great. Our veggie person had cauliflower tikka masala; it was tasty with a perfect pie crust and a flavorful but not very spicy filling. Carnivore number one had a chicken pot pie, which he described as perfect comfort food and which vanished in seconds. But the star performer was the steak pie, filled with large pieces of perfectly cooked brisket and a savory sauce. The personally served our dog two crunchy treats which she graded as “five woofs,” her highest grade.The food and the manager’s relaxed, comfortable and attentive service make Tip Top a great place for an interesting, casual and inexpensive meal. My wife is Australian and has been searching for authentic meat pies and sausage rolls for the better part of 12 years. On a suggestion, I stopped by Tip Top Pies tonight and picked up a frozen bakers dozen of meat pies and some frozen hatch chili sausage rolls. After trying the steak & mushroom meat pie and a hatch sausage roll, she says these are BETTER than what she could get back home! The staff were also extremely friendly and knowledgeable, and its in a really quaint location. We cant wait to try the other pies in the bakers dozen. Absolutely go and check this place out!

I love savoury pies. I had high hopes based on the reviews but the pies were not as well seasoned as I would have liked. Especially the curry chicken which were on the sweet side from all the carrots. The beef wellington was my favorite.

We took a three week trip to NZ last year, and one day our friends suggested we try a meat pie. Subsequently, we ate a meat pie every day during our trip because they were so delicious. We tried Tip Top Savory Pies today and were absolutely amazed at how good and authentic their pies are. The pie crust is buttery and flakey, and the steak and mushroom filling is loaded with large chunks of tender meat and sliced mushrooms in a gravy. We drove 45 miles to find these pies, and then we brought four frozen pies home to eat some other day. You must try these pies!!!!

Omg yum!! I tried the steak & cheese meat pie today and it was delicious!! The gravy was super flavorful, the steak was tender and they didnt skimp on the cheese. Plus, the crust is pastry perfection. I scraped all the flakey bits off the to-go box. When I saw the size, I wasnt sure it would be enough food but it was the perfect meal portion. I cant wait to go back and try the other flavors!

We managed several trips to Tip Top Pies over the past few weeks and it has quickly become my favorite eatery! Not only do Rob and crew provide a warm and incredibly friendly atmosphere, but the pies are absolutely the best! I can see why these are such a popular food in New Zealand! The crusts are baked to perfection, and the various fillings (weve tried both chicken and beef selections) are fresh and seasoned just right! Tip Top Savory Pies is one of the gems of Lafayette dining, and will continue to be a regular visit for us!

Got the steak and ale pie from here, froze it for a few days, heated up (350 for 45) on the owners instructions and it was excellent. Great tender meat, perfectly balanced flavours and the crust was absolutely perfect. I’ll be back for more!

This is a little slice of New Zealand right here in Lafayette Colorado. This neat little pie shop brings not only the best pies in the area, but a perspective of New Zealand culture to the table. They’ve spent a long time perfecting how to make a business like this work and have got it down to a science! Not even for the money involved, but to take pride in providing quality pies to an American demographic. Take a moment from the hectic American lifestyle and fill your belly and your soul with some of the best food New Zealand has to offer! Definitely a must see if you’re in Lafayette. 10/5

I pretty much lived on meat pies while traveling in NZ for 4 months. Words cannot express the joy of coming home to learn that there was an ACTUAL NZ PIE SHOP now open in town. The first time I ate their Steak & Cheese pie I almost cried it was so good. Perfectly baked flakey crust, tender meat, delicious gravy, it’s all there. Sausage rolls are bang on too, Tip Top is the REAL DEAL!!

Having studied in NZ for college, one of the things I missed most was the savory pies that the country is known for. I was so excited to see an authentic shop open up in Lafayette where I could get my fix! The pies are incredible, with unbelievably buttery-flaky crust and great fillings. Great vegetarian and meat options as well. Definitely check this place out, its great for dining in or take out. Fingers crossed that they can get some L&P in the shop soon!

Husband and I just moved to Lafayette and were thrilled to discover this place! The food is delicious!!

I ordered some pies for delivery on Uber eats and was really impressed. They came quickly and were still perfectly warm after the delivery trip.The pastry is everything you could want, flaky, buttery, and perfectly golden. The sausage roll was very tasty (the flavoring reminded me of English ones, which I loved). I also got the green chili breakfast pie, which was a fun combination of Colorado/England.The sausage rolls are well priced and surprisingly filling (very generous filling). I ended up bringing one pie home for later. I let the pie cool and reheated it in the microwave and it was still just as delicious.No soggy bottoms! Would highly recommend.
