Great spot to get deli sandwiches, good fruit, meat and produce, and has a great wine selection. Most of the dry goods are marked up a bit high so maybe not the best store for everyday item shopping, but for a lunch trip or to find the juicy fruit in season its hard to beat in the Lafayette/WC area

Hands down the best grocery store Ive ever been to. My husband had worked in the area previously and raved about the deli sandwiches so on our way out of town we stopped for lunch. He was right, AMAZING sandwiches. The grocery store itself is full of yummy goodness. A lot of what looked like locally and homemade fresh foods. Even the mass produced foods all looked amazing and fresh. I wish I lived near by, I would never shop any where else. I know anytime we may pass by, I will make a point to stop and shop. Did I mention the staff was super nice too? Love love love Diablo Foods!

Diablo Foods is my first choice for properly prepared meats. My rib eye shows their quality. It is heavy and has very little juice which tells me that it was dry-aged before it was cut.* This is the best way to offer beef in the butcher shop and also the most expensive for the butcher. I will leave it out all day to rest from the fridge. Salt, pepper. Super hot grill. Three minutes a side.* Juicy beef that you find in the supermarket is not desirable and wet aging is just a fancy term for letting it rot in the bag while retaining the water weight for profit and then charging more for the process.

This place is fire! Diablo has great food and exceptional service. We go there for fresh seafood, fruit and veggies not to mention good wine.

This is a niche supermarket that has mostly overpriced groceries however its the best place in Lafayette to get high quality meats that are not available elsewhere. We especially like the Willybird fresh turkey every year. A unique place to shop as long as money is no object.

This is hands down the best grocery store. They have a parking attendant to keep the parking lot moving, they have staff on hand to help you find what youre looking for. And they even insisted on helping me out with my groceries...well mostly wine and salad dressing.

This review is for the Sushi. I first discovered the Sushi at Diablo Foods a few years ago. It’s freshly made daily by the Canaan Company. They also have fresh wasabi. I highly recommend the Sushi from Diablo Foods.

The food is excellent quality, with corresponding prices. What i really want to compliment is their excellent service. Way beyond anything ive experienced at any other grocery stores (Safeway, Lucky, Costco, Trader Joe, etc). Nothing wrong with any of those stores; most have friendly and helpful staff, but at Diablo, they really go out of their way to help you, and ask you how your day was....just really an out-of-this-world level of service.

The market carries a lot of interesting food that youd find at whole foods but their prices are skyward. A case in point, a box of Kashi cereal was almost $7 at least 3 dollars more than in Safeway. But they are always busy so I guess it doesnt matter if they are so expensive than other places. The store is packed with items and always seem to be very organized and extremely helpful.

We are new to the bay area and have quickly become loyal customers even though several groceries are closer to our home. First, the customer service is top notch. The staff is always friendly, they unload my cart, and they give my kids balloons every time we go. Second, they have a great food selection. Im so impressed with their bakery. We moved here from Europe, and they not only have almost all my favorites from those countries, they have a lot of bakery items I havent tried before (like Princess Cake and Swedish rolls) which is saying a lot because I love to try everything when I travel. We always look forward to coming here.

Diablo Foods is an old fashioned, gem of a grocer. The store is one of the reasons I live in the area. Fabulous selection of local and regional foods, a wonderful housewares selection, and the best customer service in all departments. I wouldnt do my grocery shopping anywhere else.

I love Diablo Foods. The store is clean, well-stocked, the shelves are faced perfectly with everything you need from pantry staples to gourmet foods. The staff is friendly, professional and always greet you by name. With a chore that is done a least weekly, if not daily by some, why not make that chore as successful and pleasant as possible? Quick stop to pick up a couple groceries whilst over here today. Cute little market. Very VERY busy and really cramped. Its like a claustrophobic Raleys. But I love the aesthetic and the store had a clear layout.

Love love love! What a great selection of products from all around the country on particularly crazy about the Carolina Plantation rice if youve never tried it you must! The meat counter is really great The Butchers will always give you exactly the right thing and they have everything you need. Best of all you never stand in a line they pack your groceries onto the conveyor belt and into bags and take it out to your car this is the way grocery shopping should always be. A pleasure!

This is one of those grocery stores that you see in movies and TV. Very clean, organized and stocked with everything you can possibly imagine. Its got the highest prices ive seen in a while, but their products are pretty high end. The staff was friendly and the stores atmosphere is very lively. Service at the deli and registers was super quick despite being pretty busy at 730 am. Pretty cool experience

This high end grocery store offers an abundance of top end foods, ready to eat meals, produce, deli and a meat/seafood department that is unsurpassed. This place reeks of quality and has the prices to go with it. Their wine selection is one of the best I have seen, matching only some of the best restaurants. The deli make excellent sandwiches at a very reasonable cost and they offer a sandwich club card giving you the 10th one free. Current the prices range from $7.99 to $8.99 and the portion is generous. The salad bar is fabulous, but it is easy to get carried away and end up with an expensive lunch that is more than you can eat, so take it easy. Their produce is fresh and they offer choices that I have only found when I went into Berkeley to Monterey Market years ago. They have some one constantly on hand and if you are curious, they will let you sample the seasonal fresh fruit. This market is extremely customer service oriented. And, it takes pride in it cleanliness, presentation and customer satisfaction. It is really worth the money.

Fresh produce down to the baby artichokes. Youll end up buying many items you didnt know you needed.Pleasant cashiers. Diablo Foods is the yardstick against which every other local market Ive lived near has failed to measure up. Its the one market I can go to where my stress level actually goes down after visiting, because I know that itll be easy to park, the staff will be friendly, and the food I buy will be high quality. The small price premium relative to other nice markets is well spent here.

If you love FRUIT, make a mental note that this market carries the best fruit in all of California. This is especially true during the summer where no other market offers the sweet peaches ect that Diablo offers. The excellence of the rest of the produce is a close second, along with fresh sushi and cheeses. Many folks have already pointed out the quality of the service, but I would like to be more specific to explain that even if you park far away, the person bagging your groceries follows you to the car which is EXTREMELY convenient and makes up for the parking issues.Now the bad news. Besides what most everyone has already pointed out with regards to the high pricing, I am VERY disappointed in the quality and selection of the fish department. I hope the owner reads my review and visits the fish department 10 minutes away at Market Hall (best quality/selection in 30 mile radius). I also disagree with the comments on the meat dept (excellent service with inconsistent quality meats) and ESPECIALLY the deli dept. The deli dept offerings pale in comparison to the selections and taste of the side dish choices at Market Hall. THE SERVICE IS SUPRISINGLY INCONSISTENT some great staff and some HORRIBLE ones as other reviewers pointed out and yes I can easily give examples. Furthermore, YOU CANNOT BE A WORLD CLASS DELI IF YOU CANT OFFER TASTY IN HOUSE ROASTED TURKEY OR ROAST BEEF!! I have tried for fifteen years, and both are still tasteless so choose the fresh ham. The owner needs to journey to So-Cal to experience world class deli meats!

This is such a rarity in todays corporate dominance in US retail where the primary mantra is to give the customer less for more money. You know what I detest? Uppity food stores that charge like theyre going to give you excellent customer service and then give you worse service than Home Depot or Macys (can you ever find anyone who can actually help at either of those places???).I called to ask a question. A rude young man answered the phone and then pawned me off to some indefinite hold line somewhere. I finally hung up after 5 minutes of horrible hula music and called back. I do like to give second chances. Well, this time, the same rude young man answered and I told him that no one had answered before. So I heard him call over the speaker system, Mike (name I cant recall), pick up line 2, and then he said to me, See, he knows and transferred me to an open line. I then proceeded to be subjected to the conversation of two employees discussing food orders and someones vegan pie while they set objects down loudly near the phone receiver. After several moments, neither picked up the phone or even mentioned that they were aware of a waiting call, and so I hung up.Customer lost.

I am impressed. Ordered my turkey from another hi end mkt whose power went out as I arrived. Called Diablo Foods and they started cutting (I was doing the 11/19 Bon Appetit recipe) my turkey while I was on the phone. Bottom line: organic, free range, $20 less that WF, no chg for cutting!

The recent Willie Bird we purchased -2018- for Thanksgiving was horrible. We cooked it to perfection....brown on the outside and moist on the inside. But when I started to carve something didnt feel right and it wasnt. The first bite of white meat was like rubber and so was the dark meat. $48 dollars down the drain. THIS IS OUR LAST WILLIE BIRD. Additionally....it was frozen....which I was told that Willie Birds are never frozen....bye bye Willie.
