Lagniappe Records is a fine used/new record store in downtown Lafayette. Its clean and spacious, with high ceilings and plenty of cool records on the walls. The guy who runs the place is friendly and smart, and he takes the time to thoroughly clean used LPs, which, to me, is a huge plus. Besides LPs, theres a 45/7 section, a used CD area, and a nook with new turntables and wireless speakers for sale. Arrangement is fairly standard for a place like this: Pop/Rock takes up the bulk of the store, and in there youll find all the usual used and remastered/repressed vinyl youd expect: AC/DC, Beatles, Bowie, Dylan, Billy Joel, Led Zeppelin, The Police, Santana, Neil Young, ZZ Top, and way way more. Jazz is reasonably well-represented; and though the highly desirable Blue Note and Impulse! original presses cant be found here (where can they?), the owner has the good sense to order choice repressings from the Tone Poet series, Real Gone Musics Black Jazz Records reissues, and the always in-demand key John and Alice Coltrane records. Theres a small R&B/Soul/Funk section, some Rap/Hip-Hop, a healthy dose of the best-known Country & Western stars records (Willie, Waylon, Merle, etc.), and a small but respectable Heavy Metal area (I noticed a couple of original, early Iron Maiden records). As with the owners keen choices for Jazz reissues, the off-the-beaten-path smattering of Punk, and the intriguing and somewhat obscure Reggae (i.e. Not Bob Marley) choices are all reissues worth investigating. I snagged a repress of a Dum Dum Boys LP (a Punk band from the Australian/New Zealand late 70s/early 80s scene - you dont see that in most record stores!). I also grabbed: a pristine, 74 original press of Miles Davis double-LP Big Fun; a near-perfect, 67 gold label, monophonic original of Grateful Deads debut record; a near perfect 77 second press of the Runaways debut LP (you never see Runaways records); and a Real Gone/Black Jazz press of a 71 Walter Bishop Jr. Re release. The one caveat Id point out to potential visitors to Lagniappe Records: prices for some of the more collectable/hard-to-find records were priced slightly ($5-$10+) higher than a copy you might be able to find on eBay or perhaps another brick-and-mortar store. That being said, for me, the condition of the records, the good overall vibe of Lagniappe, and the knowledge Im supporting a local guy whos been in this game for years and deserves my cash, made the total with tax nothing to complain about. Visit! Buy! Enjoy!
Such a great shop. They have plenty of vinyl; plus cassettes and turntables. I never leave empty handed. Clean and organized, too, which is a big plus for me. Pay them a visit next time youre downtown; youre sure to find a treasure or two!
I don’t even live in Lafayette anymore but this is still my favorite record store! They have the widest selection, and always have a few hidden gems. Plus every time I order online, my purchase ships super quick! Sometimes it includes stickers and a sweet note as well! ❤️Best record store in Acadiana and the surrounding areas, for sure!
One of my favorite places to visit. Great selection of albums! Staff is amazing!
Both employees were nice and there was a great selection of records, all of which were organized clearly and made it very easy to find stuff like what my friend and I were looking for. The store isnt too hard to find and they sell complimentary products for beginner record listeners like turn tables, headsets, speakers, and other miscellaneous electronics necessary to make a nice little setup for everyone.
Ive enjoyed the records Ive purchased from this store! They have a nice selection of new and used records and a few more obscure pieces. The staff is nice and knowledgeable! They always are friendly and helpful.
Great shop, online and off. Smooth RECORD STORE DAY experiences. Accommodating with phone & pick up orders during COVID shut down, care about their customers. Lots of bargains, worth stopping in just to browse.
Lafayette is lucky to have a record store like Lagniappe, where the people are not only super friendly and knowledgeable, but also genuinely care about the community they are a part of. Would give them 30 stars if I could. Lagniappe is a must-stop shop if you’re ever in the Downtown Lafayette area!
Blessed to have a shop this wonderful in town. A large and great variety of selection to choose from. Everytime I go in I feel very welcomed. They got dope stickers too.
Great record shop with a wide selection and lots of cajun records. However, there is a variance between used records that are of the same grade. For example, there were two records that were each graded VG+ but one of the records was visibly in worse condition.
Good local shop here I would highly recommend it. I didn’t find the thing I was looking for but overall pretty good place.
Excellent people. Cares about their customers. Keeps safety in mind. Great selection.
Awesome store! My daughter received a vintage record player for Christmas and we had the opportunity of going here and we felt like we were in heaven. So much of awesome history of different music. This will definitely be our go to place
I love my neighborhood/downtown record store! Its so refreshing to go into a place that denounces hate and encourages inclusion and acceptance of everyone. During the height of COVID restrictions, their common sense public health measures made it a place I could go without concern for being crowded by negligent, discourteous, anti-science types. Keep on rockin in the free world!
Use to love buying records here until they started pushing their political views in their store. Since COVID I never see them open, I guess they rather milk the system than actually work. I shop elsewhere now. Too bad.
I dont live local but Ive purchased from them online before. Excellent service, fast shipping, quality products. Support your indie record stores, yall!!
Love this little gem in the heart of downtown. Great selection of vinyl ❤️
Really friendly staff helped me get exactly what I needed for Record Store Day!!!
Selection=nicepeople=awesomestore=feng shuione of the best in the country. support your local shop !!
Shop Local! Great store even better political viewsStand up for whats right!
Fun store to shop in. Wide selection and fair prices. They also follow all Covid protocols to keep patrons safe, unlike many of the businesses downtown. Highly recommend.
One of my biggest regrets about moving out of Lafayette. A huge collection of great records, and even better people!
Always a superior experience compared to just about anywhere else you can go for music related things. 😊
Great record shop. LOVE the stickers!
Love the shop! Thanks for making downtown Lafayette a cooler place.
BUY LOCAL AND SUPPORT A GREAT BUISNESS!!!The people here are great, supportive, have great recommendations, and are very caring!

Amazing place who loves everyone ❤
Support local business. Had what I needed. 👌🏻
Really enjoyed the shop, grabbed some nice vinyl at very fair prices, would highly recommend you stop by the store and support local record store.
Great selection and the greatest people!
Great record store. Prices are a bit high, but not ridiculous. Records are in kept in sleeves and displayed alphabetically by genre; easy to browse. Store employee was courteous and answered all my questions. If you are in the area I highly recommend dropping in.
The energy is positive. The owners are great. And i will be going back every chance i get.
Groovy place & nice selection
Regular customer, great selection, helpful and wonderful staff
Great spot to drop in listen to some good tunes while browsing through a large selection of records, cds tapes and oddities.
This is a great little record shop. The selection is pretty diverse and they have quite a bit to look through. Half an hour there is really just a quick browse. They have some equipment there to buy as well, but most of the space is devoted to albums.
Excellent selection! Great staff, and good prices. Also good vibes in their environment.
Excellent little store with new and vintage records. They also have a large selection of CDs and cassette tapes. Very helpful and friendly staff. Highly recommended.
Pretty small place, not a big collection. But friendly staff and great prices
Adorable space and nice staff. Even though they didnt have what I was looking for, they have an overall super selection. They rescued a puppy and gave him love and a home. Five stars.
Great vinyl store with knowledgeable and welcoming owner. I arrived on a Tuesday on a road trip from England, and, though the shop was technically closed, Patrick allowed me to dig while he was labelling. After a fascinating search and chat of well over an hour, I departed with some really good stuff.I would advise all vinyl enthusiasts to pay a visit.
Amazing selection of both new and older vinyl, with super reasonable prices. Tess(the owner), is incredibly friendly and overall a rad person. The movie and game nights are always a lot of fun. Definitely one of, if not the best record store in Louisiana and definitely one of the best places in Baton Rouge.
Great people, great local business with great prices on albums. I got a copy of Brothers in Arms by Dire Straits for just under $10! For some reason I assumed theyd be more expensive than Amazon but they had both Communiqué and Dire Straits for less than I paid for online. The shop is super neat and they have a great selection of good music. Check em out.
Selections for every taste. All of the latest releases to the rarest of vintage vinyl. Good variety of Louisiana music too.
Love this place! So glad I went in. The staff was amazing, the organization of the shop was amazing, and the fact that I was able to get Michael Jacksons Thriller 3-disc vinyl for 10$ was mind-blowing! Definitely will be visiting weekly.
Cool shop nice selection!
Always an amazing selection and friendly staff! I wanted an album they didnt carry and it was ordered and received within a week. Happy to have them in town!
I love this store, the people, the location, the merchandise... Pretty much everything. My life is better having discovered its existence.
Informative, friendly, and professional! Everything you need in a local record store. Thank you guys!
The people at Lagniappe Records are incredibly kind, and more than happy to help with any issue their customers have. The store is very well organized, and reflects a genuine care for the product they sell.
Great place
Such friendly people. Way better than any other record store in BR in terms of friendliness and also prices. Love these guys. Their store also smells like fresh cookies to me.
Easy to find records because they are sorted by genre and artisr.
Great selection and fair prices. I could spend hours here.
Nice record shop with a good selection, good prices and nice folks.
Best records. Best people. Best dogs.
Good selection. Nah Champa at the register. Very cool vibe. Guitar strings. Chill staff
Great records at a great price with great customer service!!
Great selection and service, the guy there helped me find out more about several local musicians
Great selection, great staff, great local spot.
Comforting environment, and beautiful sonic medleys waiting to crawl into your ear drum.Wonderful addition to downtown.
Terrific Record Store - Truly Terrific! They have a great selection and are getting in new and used vinyl seemingly all week long. In other words, every time I visit it pays to look through my favorite sections because there is always something new and Im often amazed by some of the gems that show up. Plus, unlike most record stores in which used 45s are generally relegated to an unorganized mass, this store provides the TLC to group the 45s into categories. I always check their Excello section of 45s. Its evident that this is a shop that cares about the vinyl and their customers experience. I highly recommend stopping by. . . . often.
Ordered exactly what we were looking for from the sweet lady in the store. Will definitely return in the future.
Great local store ran by great local people.
Nice
Best spot to browse huge inventory of organized vinyl!
This Jason P. Leonard approves this post and loves this store.
Tess and Patrick have a great shop, a wealth of knowledge, and a great attitude! Go here, buy records.
Agnes and Milton are the best bird lawyers in Louisiana, perhaps the nation. The humans know a bunch about music too.
Neat local record store, plus a good selection of local cajun and zydeco music.
Love this place. Staff is friendly and they are always playing great music. They also jabe birds! (Parakeets I think) This is a place I like to visit even if I dont plan on getting anybparticular album. Its fun to go pickin through the albums and trying to find a gem. Their prices are fair and they are a local business so you shouild support them. Even if they dont have the album you want in stock they can order it for you and you can pick it up at a later date. They also buy your old albums. I had some that I would never listen to so I donates them to this store. Great place, great selection, great music, great vibes.
Everything was easy to find, and the staff was super friendly. Agnes the bird was also great!
Fantastic busniesss, always a welcoming environment and a wonderful selection of vinyl ; including select cajun and zydeco cds!
Great selection, and great owners. Lafayette finally has a righteous record store.
Good feel, helpful staff, nice selection, and good music playing on speakers....so yeah go get your collection started, buffed, or browse.
Get vinyl, cassettes and CDs here. Yep
I go here like 2-3 times a month. The people are knowledgeable and friendly, the selection is great, and the location is in beautiful downtown Lafayette.
Best record shop in the gulf coast.
Very nice and well organized.
Overpriced records, hipster new generation owners. They try to sell records that have very little value for way too much. Not recommended. Rip off, new era store. Waste of time.
Love this place! Huge selection, spent over 100 dollars yesterday and got a free tshirt!
Great selection and great people.
Clean, Friendly with a diverse collection!
