Employees are too busy on their personal phone to answer the u-haul phone. When they do help they are not very knowledgeable or courteous.This is the worst u-haul location to deal with.
I had a hitch put on my 2018 Toyota RAV4 in June 2020, use it to pull a Uhaul trailer to Austin, no problems but the car was strained most of the way. I went to the Toyota dealership and they mentioned a wire hanging. So I brought it over to a friends car repair to look to see what the wire was and discovered a fire hazard of wiring that Uhaul did to my car. The mechanic had to take the wiring harness. The hole need a grommet to stop the chaffing on the wires. I was lucky that it did not catch on fire. I contacted Uhaul and they compensate me for the errors. Just make sure the wires are secured by grommets.
Worst customer service ever. Call me 1 day before my 26 foot truck rental to tell me nearest truck is an hour and half away. Then try to force me to take a 15 foot truck for the same price as the 26 foot. Seriously you people are a joke. Never using your company again.
I ordered a trailer hitch to be installed on my vehicle on 9/2/20 and they gave me an appointment for 9/15/20. I showed up on 9/15/20 at my appointed time only to be told they did not have the hitch and could not tell me when it would be in. The young lady would only say they are not sending her tracking information. I asked why someone had not called me prior to my reservation to let me know it was not there and all she would say was that the technician who usually makes the calls was off all week. WHAT? No apology, so I asked for a refund. What I did find at this business was the epitome of poor customer service. Do yourself a favor and take your business elsewhere. I wished I had checked the other reviews before scheduling with U-Haul.
Scheduled to have a hitch put on. Called several times, waited 30 minutes to speak to someone each time, tried to move my appointment, was never called back. So I kept my original appointment and after taking off work, arranging a ride, I get there and the parts aren’t in yet! I even called the day before to make sure and they said I was good to go for 7 am. All they had to do was call me, but they apparently have no regard for their customers time. Got my money back and will go somewhere else.
Thieves!! Not only did they charge me twice for a 1 day rental. After calling customer service and trying to resolve the issue I find out the next morning they charged me for a 3rd time!!!! They lady on customer service was extremely rude and condescending. I was nothing but nice to her. Just trying to resolve the issue like adults and she was talking to me as if I was a child. NEVER AGAIN! Now I have to spend my hard earned time calling my bank and disputing another incorrect charge. The audacity of these people.
Rented from this location a week ago. They double charged me on a few things and after a full week of calling and emailing, I got in touch with someone. The manager refuses to refund me because he said their best employee processed my order and she would have explained that I double booked my rental and that I was going to be charged twice. The employee didn’t say anything to me except to insert my card. Why would I agree to get charged twice? He continued to tell me that he trust the employee over me. Lack of customer service here. Check your receipts!
Good luck getting any decent customer service here. Showed up at 7:20am for a return, due to the closer location being full, and it seems like I was charged for being late. I cant really be sure though cuz they wontanswer the phone. Not to mention I unhooked the trailer myself.
I got some trailer wiring installed there. The harness was all in one, but somehow the guy ended up with cut wires everywhere. He put multiple holes in my dash, and ended up putting the brake controller over door for diagnostic scanning. He had connections with exposed wire, and didn’t even heat shrink any of the connectors. The plug was not installed correctly and dangling off by the time I got home. I contacted uhaul online, and they’re trying to get me to jump through hoops by calling local offices and such. I figured I’ll just write a review instead. I would highly recommend you not doing business with this location, especially install work.
Horrible. just horrible.Staff makes assumptions as to whether youre in town or out of town so have that in mind when you pick up your rental. GM told me that the site made an assumption. Though he knew about how the site works online and how if you dont put a drop-off (which states is optional to put in) it will assume youre an in town rental. The staff nor Gm takes steps to ensure that reservation information is correct.The other manager then proceeded to tell me that if they have limited availability then they will give customers in town rentals, which was not expressed to me. So they will give you rental equipment and not tell you whether it is in town or out of town......What does this mean to you?It means if they assume youre in town and you go out of town they will charge you double of your original reservation amount to drop it off at another location. Then when you do take back the rental they will charge you for every mile you drive back. I was charged .79 per mile. In turn, it ended up being approximately 460 dollars for a rental at uhaul.When stating I was unaware of the in town equipment, they stated it was in the email they sent me. However when handed a contract in person it does not state the equipment being in town. It actually stated In town Rental (out). However how is one to know what that means.The staff members will not state whether or not it is an in town rental and if they have low availability will just hand out equipment and hey if you sign the contract they give you at the desk, there will be no information located on it to state it is in town.

1/7/18. Get your propane at Bay Gas! Too bad I have to give them one star. My experience started with the U Haul location in La Marque. I just posted about that location which was closed when contrary to their posted hours. To boot, in the end they were out of propane. Wow. Went north to the Home Depot as they say they sell propane but dont. They sell bottles filled with propane. Galling as it is theres this U Haul location to the north so I call to be sure and the CORPORATE BUFFOONERY BEGAN. You think youre talking to the location but later I found out, the hard way, youre not. Agent said Oh yes we have 200 gallons here, no problem! Would you like to purchase some packing materials or furniture blankets? Hey zippy Im asking about propane. Dont be so robotic. I drive north now over 15 miles north from the La Marque location that was out of propane. I pull in and see a sign on the door that says Propane is broken. Thinking this cant be I walk in and learn that the equipment is broken and has been for weeks. The veins in my temples are visibly throbbing and with a few sharp words I depart observing the shoulder shrugs of indifference of employees that dont care because CORPORATE DOESNT CARE for its customers. Do you think that the two gals in the office might suggest going to the location one mile away to get propane? No. I wanted hot water and gas to cook so I found that location and headed for it. Of course I already knew that I couldnt call to make sure they had propane even though that obviously would have been wise. DO NOT TRY TO CALL A U Haul LOCATION!!! Apparently theyre too busy to talk. So thanks to U Haul I drove over fifty miles round trip to get propane. DONT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS OUTFIT. SAVE YOURSELVES! Today Im buying a small back up tank so I never have to suffer these dullards again. Never
Rented a tow dolly from this place and the vehicle would not fit on it. So I returned it back to the location about an hour after renting it, was told manager was not there and that I would have to call him the next day. I was trying to speak with the manager about getting some or all of my money back since I did not use it the full time needed and that my vehicle would not even fit on it. So I call the store and was told by the operator that he was out doing a walk through of storage and that he would call me back if I left a message, I left a message and did not receive a call back. After 3 or 4 days without receiving a call I called again and was told this time that he wasnt even there when I first called and that he was busy again and I could leave a message for him which I did and I still have never received a call back fro Tony. It looks like customer service and satisfaction do not matter to this store so I will tell everyone not to use them for any reason.
I made a reservation 30 days ago and have been confirming the location every week since. I received an email yesterday guaranteeing my pickup at this location for tomorrow at 8:00am. I received a text (13 hours before moving) saying that they had moved locations to La Porte and changed the pickup time to 9:00am. I will now have to call my movers and hope that they are still available, and find a new ride to this new location. Is anyone able to fix this?
I rate the store and the manager a negative one. I am new to renting and when I called to book a truck reservation the employee only asked for the dates I would be using the truck and never bothered to ask if it was a one way trip or in the city. My Dad went to pick up the truck verbally confirming the location and gave them the miles. they booked the truck as in town rental when it should have been a one way rental. The employee helping my Dad told my Dad he only has done this once before. They never went over the contract and they NEVER made my Dad sign a contract. My Dad left thinking everything was fine until he was out of town. Once he realized what happened, we called the League City location and they told us to DRIVE BACK TO WHERE WE RENTED IT to get another truck. We talked to Tony to have him fix his employees mistake and he was incredibly rude over the phone. We were four hours away from where we rented it and could not turn around. I have called trafficking, trying to get the double charge fee waived and they refused. I am now out $600 because the employees were so badly trained in the companys policies. I will NOT be using U-haul for any move I have in the future. Tony needs to be retrained in how he talks to customers and he needs to train his employees to be efficient because their customers are the ones paying for their inability to perform their jobs.
I rented a truck paid 125.00 that we configured from the miles there and back. Well going to my house and to bring the truck back and drop it off added a lil more miles . Which came to 37 more had no problem with that I paid it. Two days later I received a text stating I had a toll charge for 2.75 I paid it with my credit card. Week in a half later I get another text stating I have a unpaid fee that I already paid which was 37.37. I have my receipt in my hand. Management stated he cant find were I paid on there system. Dont recommend renting trucks from this location. They might lose your payment and try to charge your card in the long run like they did my credit card. Its a good thing that was my load card it only had a 1.60 on it.
Negatives: Despite being told that humidity wouldnt be an issue downstairs (non-climate-control) because there are multiple dehumidifiers to help keep the humidity down (otherwise why not just toss everything in the garage, right?) - yeah, its an issue.Discovering mold/ mildew on my great-grandmothers furniture & on pics of my grandparents from back in the 1930s, when I had specifically asked and been assured that this would not be the case... is very disappointing, and the damage to items which cannot be replaced is wrenching.Far too many times when, during business hours, the card-key operated doors to storage stand open to the outside.Positives: Easy to access from the Gulf Fwy, good parking near doors to storage area with lots of carts, well lit inside, facility made it through Hurricane Ike high & dry.
These guys never answer their phone and have a real lazy mentality. I feel like uhaul doesnt have real customer service anymore.
Absolutely the worst customer service I have ever seen. Extremely rude employees and would rather play on their phones than to acknowledge customers. I will not tolerate someone being rude to my wife. All I can say is this person is lucky I was not there, the last person that was rude to my wife paid the consequences . This is not the first time this has happened but it will be the last time at this place.

Reserved a tow dolly here, arrived and they tell me that they had it moved to a location in Dickinson. Go there to get it and learn that I cannot return it to the Dickinson location after 6:00 PM, even though its due at 10:00 that evening. Call the 1-800 number, get the traffic department, and they (Ariel) instructs me to leave it at the 351 Gulf Freeway location. I do that at 8:15 and take photos to document the return. Two days later, they charge me $275 since I returned it to the wrong location. I called to get this straightened out and was told that the manager would have to call me back. He did, said the charge was justified, did not believe that Ariel had instructed me to return it there, implying that I was a liar. Called the traffic department and got Ariel, who immediately remembered the situation and said that she would call the manager and have him call me and issue the refund. The manager never called, but I did get an email from Ariel removing the $275 charge.Every business will have some issues, and its all about how they address them. Implying that the customer is lying before they have made the effort to gather the facts is about as bad as it gets.
Site was extremely under staffed. The employee working the desk was stressed due workload. There was a line with 8-10 people and one employee. Each person required about 10 min to complete transaction.I hold the manager totally accountable for such poor service. I give this experience at uhaul a -1, but I will be generous and give 1 star.
Excellent Uhaul. Staff is incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. Tony Sasso really knows his stuff. They do everything here including trailer hitch installations. Highly recommend this location for all your storing, moving, towing and hauling needs. Keep up the good work!
Highly disappointed is an understatement. I reserved a car hauler over THEIR website. Entered all my vehicle information and THEIR website said everything would work OK - so I drive over 20 miles to get the trailer and some person behind the counter who looked and acted like he hadnt slept in days has a hard time looking up my reservation on THEIR website, then has the audacity to tell me that my tow vehicle (a 2018 GMC 1/2 ton pickup) will not tow a little 1999 Ford Explorer. I pull a tractor with a front end loader and 5 brush hog mower on a 20 Tandem axle trailer with this truck without a problem. Cant pull an Explorer? Bovine Excrement I say.
I work for a local non profit Habitat for Humanity Restore. Our truck broke down a couple months ago and we have been renting uhauls every week since. The staff is exceptional and have worked with us time and time again. We thank all of you up there.
Terrible customer service. I had appointment at 5pm on Friday. Showed up and was told technician went home. I was told to come back on Saturday at 10. Not the way I wanted to spend a Saturday, I got there on time. They had started another car in my place. Said that would take 45 more minutes, then 45 for mine. It would be ready at noon. Came back at noon and sat there for an hour with no one asking me if I needed anything or giving me an update. I finally asked the manager who rudely said he was working on it and it would be another 30 minutes because “the last one was a pain”. I shouldn’t have even been there since mine was supposed to be done the day before. Never got an apology for the missed appointment or delay. I understand that mistakes happen, but own it, apologize and complete the work as promised. Don’t act like the customer is being unreasonable due to your mistake!
We helped my parents move across the country, and also helped with the U-haul return at the end. There were only three people in line ahead of us, but it appeared that the original person we saw in the parking lot was doing all of the jobs, so it looked like it would take a long time. After about four minutes of waiting, another employee meandered in with breakfast, slowly got ready, and then took the next customer. After that it was smooth sailing. We showed all of our paperwork, were told to make sure all the blankets were folded and to park in a different location, and then we drove away. The facilities were clean and well stocked. The parking lot was a little narrow due to the nature of the place, but nothing impossible.
Waited in line for 40 minutes for my scheduled hitch install only to be told that they didnt have anyone to install it and that in the future I need to schedule Monday - Friday. I scheduled online and there were other locations that wouldnt let me schedule on the weekend. Perhaps the schedule needs to be edited on the online booking site. They need more staff at the counter. I felt really bad for the one person waiting on everyone. While I was waiting they didnt have a trailer that was reserved for someone and had to send him to another location after he stood in line for almost an hour.
A few days ago, Ive had a hitch installed on our van at this location. My experience: 1) one of the few friendly places in the area; 2) the installation took a shorter time then originally estimated; 3) the result looks professional and neat; 4) the installer, Damon, is knowledgeable, professional and trustworthy (a rare quality nowdays). He explained how to use the hitch, what kind of issues might occure, what to do/how to fix when there is a problem, and, customers can call back to this location to troubleshoot if on the road. I am quite pleased with the work done and the service received. Good job, keep it up!

Quoted $250 for installing wiring on my van. Got to the store and told it will be $400. The answer from the GM Tony is Well it was just a qoute Really !!! $150 over the qoute !!! After a phone call and some talking it over he dropped it to $330. I will do business with a more honest place next time. Save your money people and find some place else !!
I have to give this place 5 stars after speaking with several people and dealerships, they took the time to give me the accurate answers I needed.
Easy access from I-45 to get refilled on propane, but their lot is small so if you in an RV or towing a travel trailer you will have to circle the building to get back to the service road and it is a tight fit most of the way around.
Went in to this location, in league City, on June 18th, to see about getting a hitch installed. They didnt have one in stock, but said they would order one, and it would come in within the next few days. The representative, set us up with an appointment for June 25th, and said they would call with a reminder. Never heard from them, called Monday morning, they didnt have a hitch yet, representative I spoke with said she would have her manager look over the order and call me, never heard from anyone. Called back on Tuesday, this representative said, you had an appointment for today (Tuesday) and I told her it was suppose to be yesterday, and asked if they had the part in so I could get it installed? She says no, but Ill get my manager to look into it, and call yall back. Well same line and same result. No call backs, I told every rep. When we first ordered it, I told her, I had to have it done by Wednesday the 27th, and she assured me that would not be a problem. Here it is Wednesday no hitch and a load of problems.
Always on point with my reservation, I will drive the extra miles because they are always reliable and stocked on moving supplies.
First off the young kid working the counter was an a**hole. We scheduled a 26 foot truck and trailer, neither of which was available when we arrived. We had also scheduled movers through uhaul which were arriving at our house an hour later. The kid could care less and did not help in locating a truck. I had to call the 800 number to get help finding a truck all while listening to this kid argue with a co-worker over a fast food order. I located a truck in Baytown and had to rush there to get it. The experience was very stressful and that kid needs to be fired.
Nice place...had to wait for the truck as it sat untouched for twenty...had to go in and ask if the truck was ready. Truck was clean.
Horrible experience. Unprofessional manager (Tony). Incompetent employees. I ordered and made an appointment for a hitch to be installed on my vehicle. When I showed up for my appointment, the part was not in the store nor did they have any idea where the part was or when it would be in. I called later in the day hoping it would have finally arrived (as according to the employee I spoke with in the morning). The manager said I was being unreasonable because I took off work to make this appointment and was upset that they hadnt informed me about the part not being available. He hung up on me before processing the refund that I requested. This was nearly a $300 order + $150 I was going to spend on additional parts.
Dropped off our 20 Uhaul truck at this location after driving it down from Austin. We had our left sideview mirror clipped off by some hit-and-run jerk, but the staff at this dropoff location were super understanding and let us go without any hassle. Quick service also!
The day off pick up was irritating. I got answer to my questions with I think and Im not sure. Not very courteous or professional. Day of turn in was about a thirty minute wait. I understand it was noon but not an excuse. Never again.
My go to place for propane refills as they are usually open when others are closed. Much cheaper than exchanging cylinders, and you actually get more propane when you refill than when you exchange.
While making an order online is easy, trying to cancel it is exceedingly hard.
Worst experience to date and final experience with Uhaul. Staff (and management in particular) are extremely unprofessional and engage in shifty business practices. The corporate office will accuse you of being a liar if you report safety concerns with their products, even if they are obviously not safe to operate on the roadway. Rent from any other company but avoid Uhaul and this location in particular. There is a reason why myself and more than 600 others have open BBB complaints against this terrible organization.

Cant get a reason why more storage rent keeps increasing... every single month, it goes up in price. Last month was 61 and some change, this month it was 74... if you inquire why, no one has a valid answer. Its not right. Avoid this place to store your belongings in, the units that we pay varying [ridiculous] amounts are NOT climate controlled. Between the monthly price increase, customer service and poorly managed storage units, we will be finding another storage facility to store our things.
