Best place to rent Uhaul. Very clean and quick service

Numerous visits to this place, all frustrating. I always do the self pickup specifically to avoid the ridiculous lines. However each time I still have had a reason to have to wait in line. This time was because the supplies I ordered with my truck were not in the truck at pickup, and then again at drop off because no one was outside available to give the key and return the supplies to.The individuals working are very helpful but having one or two people at the desk on the last Saturday of the month is poor planning on the managers part. Staff your desk! Hire some people to work! And for cripes sake, figure out how to make the self pickup and drop off seamless.Fortunately for U-Haul, there isn’t really a competitor, but I suspect that will change in the near future.

Everything you need for moving locally or across country. Trucks, vans, trailers, boxes, tape and bubble wrap. Plus climate controlled storage all located right off interstate 95.

It was a nightmare on Sunday, the drop off line was full, trucks were out flowing to the road. It took 2 hours to drop off a truck, there was no clear signage where to drop off the truck, you can’t park truck in the lot, there were lines everywhere to drop off and pick up. Really bad customer service and operation for an this size off company. I would never go there again.

Smooth as can be and will be renting from here again when needed.

Great place to rent a truck or trailer. From what it looks like this location is a full service center. They will even install a hitch and electrical connection for your reality too.

Employees were kind and attentive and got us in and out quickly. They had everything ready for us and made the process very easy and took precautions that I appreciated due to covid. Well done! Will definitely come back to rent a vehicle again.

Not worth saving the money, pay a little more for Budget.A MONTH AGO I reserve my truck for today at 6am. Yesterday they decide to tell me it will be ready at 10am!! If you’ve moved before you know movers are not cheap and you cannot cancel last minute! After spending half the day on the phone with Uhaul, they have me drive AN HOUR to this Laurel location for the only truck that they had so I can have at 6am. Even get my confirmation for 6am. Until I get here and I’m told it’s not ready and I have to wait for the office to open. When they finally open I was told yea we can’t have that truck overnight SO WHY DID YOU MAKE ME DRIVE IN IF YOU KNEW IT WOULDN’T BE READY! Customer service couldn’t even care about how much this is going to cost me in gas and overtime for the movers

Manager is very understanding also very helpful and the staff is also good. Storage units are very clean.

I had a good experience - rented a van for a week, ended up extending for a second week. The van was new and in good shape. I picked during business hours and returned during business hours with no issues. When I extended over the phone, the national customer service was very friendly and efficient. A bit of a wait - 10 - 15 minutes - but otherwise, no issues.

Newington team was quick and efficient with sorting me out for my rental and checking me back in after my move was done. Thanks!

Went to pick up the reservation I made and paid for with the online checkin and the lady told me that the reservation was in Warrenton, an hour away. I showed the reservation for Newington location and she said I should of read fine print. That they can change it at any time. Horrible customer service and I do not recommend this establishment.

Very..very..slow..waited in line for almost 45 minutes just to find out the truck I reserved was not available.

I made a reservation with U-Haul on Tuesday 10/6/2020 to ensure I had a truck ready for my move day of 10/10/2020. I secured a 20ft truck that was to be picked up at JT Enterprises (5409 Vine St No A Alexandria, VA 22310) by 8:00AM. I hired two movers to assist us with the loading/unloading and they were scheduled to be at my place by 9:00AM.On 10/10/2020, at 7:30AM, I went to JT enterprises only to find out that I was unable to access the reserved truck because the location was closed and the mobile app stated that I could only access the truck when the location opens at 10:00AM. I immediately called the 1800 U-Haul line for customer support. I reached a representative after 15 minutes. Once the representative came on the line, there was not much she could do so she transferred the call to a scheduler. The transfer took another 15 min and which at that point we decided to go to another U-Haul location nearby to see if they would be able to help us out. The next nearest U-Haul location was Jonas Snow Removal & Lawn Care Removal Services (5420 Oakwood Rd. Alexandria, VA 22310). The customer service representative at the next location informed us that there was no trucks available and advised us to try another U-Haul location. We were told to check out the U-Haul Moving & Storage of Newington (8207 Terminal Rd, Lorton, VA 22079) because we were told there was a truck available. We went to that location and was told that there was no truck available and to call customer service again. We called customer service again and when we finally reached the representative again, this time they were able to find a truck at U-Haul Moving and Storage of Springfield (5285 PORT ROYAL RD, SPRINGFIELD,VA 22151). We were told they had a 20ft truck and it was guaranteed. By this time, it was 9:30AM and my movers called to tell us that if they could not start by 10AM they would need to cancel the job because of another commitment at 1PM. We scrambled to the next location only to tell us they DID NOT HAVE THE TRUCK EITHER!. Instead they were able to book us with a truck with Jonas Snow Removal & Lawn Care Removal Services (5420 Oakwood Rd. Alexandria, VA 22310). THIS WAS THE SAME LOCATION WE HAD ALREADY WENT BUT WAS TOLD THEY HAD NO AVAILABLE TRUCKS!! Relucantly we went back to Jonas Snow Removal & Lawn Care. The store manager informed us that she did not have 20 ft truck but instead gave us a 26 ft truck. As a result of the massive mess that U-Haul caused, I spent the entire morning driving to 5 U-HAUL locations, spent over 30 min trying to talk to customer service, lost both movers resulting in us overpaying for another group of help at the last minute, and the oversized truck damaged several boxes because of the 6ft of additional space that I NEVER WANTED IN THE FIRST PLACE, and to just add salt to the wound, I was charged an after hour fee. What was supposed to take a few hours of our saturday took the entire day. I HAVE NEVER EVER RECEIVED SUCH POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE IN MY ENTIRE LIFE. I want to dispute all charges made for this move and I want a prompt follow-up with my concerns.

Lots of room to maneuver, OK service but an unlevel parking lot so be careful when unhooked trailers.

Store service was excellent. Online not great. Although correctly selected 11 am they reported 8 am pickup. Ordered mattress covers and none were provided. I wasnt charged for them.

My reservation got changed from a closer franchise location to this location - nothing you can do about that. They clearly have a large stock of trucks, trailers, and supplies. I rented a cargo trailer and it was nice that they hooked it up to my car when I arrived (Morgan was friendly and efficient). This is probably the best Uhaul experience Ive ever had.

Two times I called and sat on hold for upwards of 10 minutes to have the call picked up and then immediately disconnected. I dont normally leave bad reviews when I havent actually done business someplace but when Im apparently unable to even do business with them its a different story.

Thank you U-Haul for being there when I lost my home. I was happy to have a one stop shop for truck rental. car dolly rental, moving boxes and supplies for such, and a storage unit. It relieved a lot of worry and stress. I was able to store my house full of possessions almost painlessly. The one thing I was left wondering was why am I filling up the tank if you are charging me for each mile driven. Shouldnt it be one or the other?

If 0 was an option that would be the review. U-Haul 24/7 pick up is horrible. Thxs for saying you can grab the key and it’s easy. Staffed with 1 person who has no clue how to handle. Stuck waiting in line wasted an hour Avoid it like the plague. Always an issue with U-Haul

Stay away from this U-haul rental location! My husband and I rented an 8x5 trailer from U-haul and returned it 12 hours early. Because their location was closed, we called their phone number which connected us to U-haul corporate and informed them that the trailer had been dropped off. U-haul said they would log it turned in. However, the owner of this establishment reported that it was returned late and charged us a $22 dollar late fee. We have disputed this formally with U-haul and Steve at this location is still saying it was dropped off late, in spite of us having photos with a date/time stamp showing we dropped it off early and in spite of having called U-haul at the exact time we dropped off the trailer. Below is a picture we took when dropping it off in case they tried to pull something like this, and they did. We always take photos inside and out just in case. Glad we did.

I got the best experience at this store. My car broken down on I95 during a long trip, very nervous to tow my car back by myself, luckily this young handsome store owner helped me out. He found me a nice truck, installed a pair of straps in good condition, also inspected the safety. After I safely towed my car back with a 900 miles trip, I just want to say thanks to this store owner and uhaul.

Ive dealt with some sketchy U-Haul locations but this place is on par. They have a large lot and youll have no trouble getting in and out.

Was calling to clarify appointment information and was left on hold for 7.5 minutes. When I called back (I thougt maybe they forgot about me), they asked to put me on hold but I asked not to, and she immediately put me on hold without even addressing me.

Service Manager was really nice. They let us change up to a better unit for no charge. Very clean unit/building compared to the Burke VA place which has dust, dirt and leaves coming in....

Was very impressed with the storage facilities at this location. Felt much better about leaving my belongings here than at any of the other self-storage places in the area. Also, hats off to the employees-- great service, friendly, and volunteered great help and advice when I was loading a particularly tricky item into the back of a truck.

When I went to pick up the truck, the lady asked whats my mileage, I provided them the mileage from my current location to my new one. I was charged extra because I didnt include the uhaul location.

I had reserved a truck online to pick up. When I walked up to the counter where 2 employees were at the computers, neither of them addressed me. I thought maybe they were busy, so I waited a minute... nothing. I finally asked if I could be helped -- one never moved and the other seemed annoyed that I asked and continued looking at his screen when he responded.The guy who brought my truck, etc, was very nice and engaging though. Also, they had everything I needed and got me out the door without hiccups, so that saved them from being a 1 or 2 star.

I goofed up a reservation for the Memorial Day weekend and the staff at U-Haul in Lorton was terrific in taking care of me It was a really busy day and They handled it with professionalism and friendliness. The location is clean and inviting. I was happy to give them my business.

I Drove two hours to pick up my truck. I called the location to say that I we would be late. The lady I spoke told me they switched it to 24/7 pick up. I arrived and tried to check in and my order has expired. No one at uhual can help me. I literally drove 2 hours with babies and now I have to turn around and go home. I am honestly shocked at the unprofessional service I have received on every level! Thanks for nothing!

Poor customer service, NOT RECOMMENDED.I was provided with an option to rent 10’ & 15’; was sold on 10’ rental + utility dolly. I got home to find truck had no ramp to use the dolly. Immediately called back to exchange the truck and jwas willing to pay the mileage but staff was uncooperative and wanted separate rental.I swept the floor and cleaned it out as per agreement. There was some dust on the floor from drywall.Crew wanted $100 charge for it. Or take the truck home to rinse it and back. After some argument one of the staff member Zack offered to let me barrow mop to wipe the floor.Manager was a total douche who just stayed at the desk and argued did not even bother to take a look at vehicle but just kept arguing.I would mention Zack was an exception compared to rest of unprofessional staff including the manager.

Very clean storage

U-haul Truck Rental and Storage Facility. They have climate controlled indoor storage as well as non climate controlled outside units. Located off of 95 at the Newington exit where the large white oil tankers are in Springfield area. Actually two exits before Springfield Franconia exit I believe.

We reserved a 20ft UHAUL for a move to Georgia. However when we arrived they could only provide us with a 15ft truck, which was no problem. The one star comes from the customer service. As we were checking out, the sales clerk caught an attitude with us and ruined the whole experience.

The staff is under trained to handle customer’s requests! I asked them to specifically changed my payment date to the first days of the month and keep withdrawing payment in late days of the month. Management (Steve) tried to justified and make excuses for his employees by saying the person making the changes didn’t know how to make them. At the end of the day Laura was very kind to fix it for me although I had to make an extra payment. Very bad management, and not and Steve not aware of customers needs.

Had a couple good experiences here over the previous couple years, but goodwill was just destroyed. Ordered a trailer weeks in advance to move my daughter over the Labor Day weekend. Express Check In on the mobile application the evening prior, but no trailer when I arrived at the designated time. Desk agent made no attempt to help me saying I would need to call the national reservation line and find something else, even saying she was unable to call the 800# on my behalf or to use her resources to help me fix their error. U-Haul overbooked, but put the burden on me when their house of cards came crashing down. Had to spend 50 minutes on the phone and drive an extra two hours to fix this problem myself. I will never return to this location unless the Manager can make this right. Lets see if they have any concern for their paying customers...

Rentals are always available, just book in advance during Peak Moving Season if u need more than a 1 day Rental. Staff is knowledgeable & pleasant.

Always weird people hanging out by the loading dock. My wife wont visit our storage unit alone because of these 2 guys that are always lurking around. Ive mentioned it to managers but nothing has changed.

Easy to get a truck of you reserve it ahead of time with the app.

Used this location as a return spot for a one-way trip rental and it was super easy/convenient. Also, used this location for a vacation trailer rental and they were very helpful. Customer service has been excellent every time I call or meet with them.

Ive been to a number of U-Haul locations, and the folks at this one are absolutely, head and shoulders above the rest. They are friendly, efficient, and very competent. The place is really well run, and in the future, I will go out of my way to rent from the Newington store even though it isnt the closest to me.

I dont know what happened but the customer service was unreasonably slow. They had only one person working the counters when they have the capability of four. Positive note, the store was clean and organized.

I wish I could give them ZERO stars.My family and I were making a one way trip to Florida from Virginia. Upon pick up of the trailer the person at the front desk seemed more inclined to speak to another associate instead tending to the customer. We were asked where we were heading to finally and stated we were moving to Florida and would not be returning to Virginia. No one thought that was a good time to let us know that the trailer and contract we were getting into was a contract to return the cargo trailer to the Lorton, Virginia location. We had unknowingly booked a local trailer for our out of state move. With all that being said, we were on the phone with U-Haul and this Lorton, VA location for the past 2 days. The location in Virginia is charging us $1,200.00 and WILL NOT budge. We are being penalized for an honest mistake because we have literally never moved before and booked the wrong option online. I think this is in very poor taste. We are willing to pay the one way fee that we were originally supposed to pay($600)...seeing as how the plates on the trailer we picked up in Virginia had GEORGIA plates. I am SO disappointed with the customer service at this location. I would recommend anyone who thinks to rent a trailer or anything from this location to THINK TWICE! They are money hungry and WILL NOT work with you at all.FYI...we spoke with many locations that have said they would have only charged us the one way fee we were originally supposed to pay...$600.

So far theyve delivered on expectations. I didnt have a complicated transaction, just truck rental, but so far no problems.

Filled out the online forms to get a hitch installed on my XTerra, confirmation and scheduling was almost immediate. Got a few notifications over the next couple days reminding me about my appointment time. The install only took a couple hours and they called when it was done.I just got done towing a car across the country to California, 2700 miles, absolutely no problems with it. The guy who installed it confirmed with me ahead of time that it would fit the requirements to tow the other car.

They had EVERYTHING! Moving supplies, boxes, storage. Washing car station. Very nice and big U-Haul. I would definitely come back and recommend my friends here!

Horrendous customer service. Scheduled 7am hitch installation. Hitch expert didnt show until an hour and half later. Was told two hours to complete job. 3 hours later still not done. Nothing but excuses and finger pointing with any solutions. This locations professionally accountability might be some of worse I have ever experience in any type of business atmosphere. Save yourself some sanity and go somewhere else.

Have rented numerous vehicles of various sizes from here and have never had any issues. Had a trailer hitch installed here years ago and even used a storage area temporarily. For packing supplies they are a little pricey but you can find a box or container for everything from mattresses to specialty boxes for flat screen TVs. No matter what you need to assist in packing and moving you can get it here, even hire people to help with your move.

Fast service. They have variety of cars and trailers and a storage for hire. You can also buy here boxes, tapes, harnesses and just anything you need to move you belongings. There is also free parking for customers.

Especially being a business owner I needed a auto transport for 1 day to tow a very difficult vehicle with bad tires and even though i was late and had been charged 2 days. I have rented at over 6 different locations over 100 times ive spent thousands of dollars with uhaul. I had originally reserved my trailer for the Springfield location and somehow I had been moved to this lorton location in which they said i had to be there at 715 which i obviously couldnt because I was at Springfield at that time and needed my trailer by 7-715 so i didnt miss a very big appointment so that being said i showed up at roughly 745 because of traffic i waited patiently In line for about 15 mins then was heavily disregarded when it was my turn the gentleman filled out everything and then left to go hook up another trailer I waited for roughly 20 mins before i could even hook my truck up to leave. When I went to leave it was about 845 so that being said I was late by a hour to my appointment which I guess is my fault for trusting a location ive not been to yet to be on time then fast forward to the next day where i needed to drop it. I was a couple hours late because the vehicle on the trailer had a flat at which they called me then i explained she said no problem i just didnt want to charge you for being late i said cool then when i showed up i waited to drop my equipment for roughly 20 more minutes when i get to the front i had some attitude from the lady saying i would be charged for 2 days I decided to just take the trailer a second day she says with attitude well you better be back by the right time tomorrow. Last time i checked im a grown man and a customer not a child i wouldnt even make this review had the lack of customer care and communication not been there I am not upset about paying for the extra day what i am is the fact i lost more money by them (Not being on time) the day before and then being treated like a outsider when i rented fron uhaul more than i can count i hope i never have to use this location or be treated that way again.

Very convenient location for pickup and drop off. Right off the freeway entrance. I will be coming here for all my future trailer needs

Used this for the 26 foot truck every week. People who worked here were pretty good. Never any real issues.

Costly and unsupportive staff

Rented storage unit for less than a week. They changed me for the entire month. They said its in the fine print. Thanks you haul for really screwing the active duty military at Fort Belvoir. There are cheaper better storage units in the area. U-hual sucks......

Its always a hassle to get someone on the phone and the customer service is very poor. I always have an issue when scanning my card to get to my storage unit and when it states to call a manager with the phone number provided; no one ever, ever answers! Its so inconvenient!!

Rented a trailer and had repair work done the wiring harness. Excellent repairs but the follow thru on the trailer rental....not so good. Complicated and expensive for a one way rental.

Turned in a trailer and used temp storage. I waited with only 1 person in line ahead of me and 3 Uhaul personnel working behind the counter. It took 15 minutes of standing there before anyone offered to help. The attitude of the workers and surprisingly the manager (Stephen Gould) was like they didn’t want to be there on a Saturday and didn’t need anyone’s business. No hellos, thank you, can I help you or anything. Just poor customer service and attitude!

Returned a van on time, and they charged me for two extra days and claimed it was returned late.

Do not store your things here. It will only become a headache with this particular location. They do not honor what they advertise and dont know the meaning of customer service. The other reviews referencing the general manager of this location being rude, unprofessional, and improper are accurate and corporate does nothing to correct any issues that happen at this branch. If you call the branch to make a payment or for assistance you are almost always transferred to the call center. No Assistance!!!

Dropping off equipment was extremely quick and customer service was good.

The worst customer service ever. the first call i made i was hung up on. the second call the female was giggling and very rude. both females i talked to were very rude and untrust worthy. i would not rent from here. i went somewhere else. customer service to me means a lot. they are your entry way in the door.

Used mobile app pick up due to it being an after hours pick up. They parked the truck as far as possible from the lockbox with the key in it. So had to park at building, walk 5 min to find the truck, verify information, get messaged a code to get key, trek half a block to the key, then turn around to go back to the truck. Wasted 20 minutes just walking because someone didnt use common sense

We just to be loyal to uHaul for ALL kind of things... NO MORE!We went here to have a 7 point wiring for a hitch we already had.They totally screwed up our only vehicle.I arrived 30 min early for appointment, they started one hour late! We were there a total of 5 hours.We were told they didnt know how to wire a Honda. Ha!The manager treated me as if I was just a piece of crap on the sidewalk.If you want professionals doing any hitch work DO NOT GO HERE.... They can not help you!Im just really sorry I didnt read the reviews. So sorry!And as Im sitting here (for the third time) I see one guy use his DL to rent a cargo van, then a different guy drive it off.... I think thats against uHaul rules.

Dont trust that you have a reservation! This location was my second scheduled pickup location for 0800, but I received a text at 1854 the night before saying they changed my reservation to another location in D.C. Traffic will make it almost impossible to make the pickup time without leaving at 0600. I just got off the phone, after waiting over 45 minutes, and the lady tells me that the people who sent the text (and the only people who have the authority to schedule a different location) are gone. She can do nothing to help me! If you have the choice, use a different moving company!

This locations employees are extremely professional. They did the checks on the trailer before we left and changed out a fuse on my car.
