There was a time (pre- covid) when this was a great place to have an orginal, delicious tasting beverage. Sadly I was recently there to help them dismantle this buisness. Another victim of this horrible pandemic. My heart and prayers go out to the owner, staff and loyal customers who were impacted by the loss of this cool hangout.
Home of the famous Dragons Breath, Chocolate Chair is one of those unique locations you just have to experience for yourself. They feature frozen sweets that feature liquid nitrogen, and I could honestly say that in terms of marketability, this one takes the cake. They also have a large selection of ice cream, shakes and more. Atmosphere wise, there isnt much going around, and thats one of the reasons I took a star off, besides the area sharing locations with The Face Shop. Come in for the novelty of eating nitrogen cooled cereal, which is priced accordingly.
WHAT DID I GET: The famed Dragons Breath dessert.HOW WAS IT: The dessert itself tasted like and had the texture of bland Fruity Pebbles cereal. There was nothing special about it; the flavor wasnt amazing, it wasnt even decent. Having said that, the only redeeming quality of this dessert is the fact that when you bite into it, smoke comes out of your mouth and nose because of the liquid nitrogen, which is, admittedly, fun. But ultimately, this dessert is nothing more than a novelty.HOW MUCH DID IT COST: $5.43.WOULD I COME BACK/RECOMMEND THIS PLACE: I wouldnt come back to this place, but I would recommend this place to others. The Dragons Breath dessert isnt amazing taste-wise, but its worth trying at least once, in my opinion, for the fun of the smoke-blowing.
This place really upset me! Now that I have had a taste for this amazing German style food and beer I cant get enough and we dont have anything similar back home.Cant recommend this place enough.
The dragons breath frozen nitrogen dessert is worth trying at least once -- sugary cereal balls are suspended in a plastic cup filled with over an inch of liquid nitrogen. The liquid nitrogen gives off a fog/mist like effect and if you bite into the cereal balls, the more saturated they are, the stronger the effect of dragons breath from your mouth.Im amazed at how this place can use liquid nitrogen -- pay attention to the signs saying not to drink the liquid nitrogen. You pick up the frozen cereal balls using skewer sticks and can also purchase dipping sauces. When Chocolate Chair first opened in the MaDang Plaza a few years ago, their main focus was nitrogen ice cream, but theyre trying to attract the social media crowd with the dragons breath. Id say once is enough and their other desserts dont seem interesting or premium enough to attract repeat visits. Still, at $6.08 after tax including a dipping sauce, this is a much cheaper and accessible version of dragons breath than whats served at Ssam chefs counter in Beverly Hills SLS Hotel.PS: They share a space with a beauty store called The Face Shop -- unfortunately theres no partition to separate the two, but there is a unisex restroom inside for both businesses so you dont have to go way into MaDang Plazas basement for restrooms.
Im in the mood for some food, and thankfully, I found this restaurant nearby. It was nice because the staff here are super accommodating, and the orders that I requested were made fast
I love the place add the dragon breath cereal
Big selection of delicious ice creams and fresh drinks. I stop here often and recommend to all.
Fun little bit of molecular gastronomy. Enjoyed the Dragons Breath with my family. They apply liquid nitrogen to cereal balls that taste like fruity pebbles - the flash freezing causes steam to come out of your mouth when you eat them. Fun time for the kids - something you would definitely want to do once, but not sure I need to ever do it again...
If you like new experiences this is the place for you.The dragon breath plate is very cool and inexpensive combined with the strawberry topping taste delicious.Dont let you tongue dry cause the liquid nitrogen stick to it.Maybe you finish with your tongue a little bit swollen like me but I think Its part of the experience 👌
I enjoyed coming here and I came when it was not busy 2:30 on a tuesday. I tried the famous dragon breath. It was fun to try but it burns and has little flavour with just that by itself. I also tried their raspberry macrons and i thought it was really yummy. Overall it is a fun and great place to spend with your family, friends or by yourself.
This place has potential but me and my family had a bad experience here. My sister told us about the dragons breathe and we decided to make the trip out. It was great at first when we first tried the dragons breathe but then it went downhill. They didnt have half the flavors of ice cream and then they didnt have any waffle cones. I got the dark chocolate ice cream which was really good and the experience of the dragons breathe was fun which is why Im giving them 2 stars and not 1.They forgot about my sisters iced coffee. After 20 minutes I asked the cashier. He replied with an oh yeah and apparently it seemed like they forgot about it. They still took a long time on it even though there were only 2 other people there. The coffee wasnt that good. My niece got a tea which wasnt good either. My step-dad stayed in the car with the parking ticket. We asked the cashier if we should go get it but he said hed just stamp the receipt and wed be okay. When we were exiting the parking garage, the attendant told us that the stamp needed to be on the ticket and he couldnt accept the stamp on the receipt, even though the cashier told us wed be ok.They also didnt have any spoons. It seemed like they had to scrounge the kitchen area to gave me a small spoon that they use for samples. The restroom was broken and the cashier just seemed unprofessional. If you absolutely want to try the dragons breathe, split a cup between 3 friends and get the dipping flavor. It gets boring after a few minutes.
I loved it. The dragon breath was super cool. Had fun playing with it. And the ice cream is so delicious a little pricey but worth it. Definitely will come back
The place had a really fun atmosphere, and of course, dragons breath. It doesn’t taste like much but it’s really fun to mess around with. Quick service and nice staff. 5/5 would go again.
Took my daughter here to sample the dragons breath pretty incredible. Pretty much tasted like frozen fruit loops but she loved it for her Instagram and the nitrous makes smoke come out as you eat them hint dragons breath
Small store front, so a little hard to find driving on Western. Its an ice cream store with a makeup store in one. It smelled like urine a little inside. K-Pop music blaring on the speakers. Nice environment.
There was a huge line waiting in food which was semi annoying since it is in a small space. Other then that there was no problem waiting patiently until out number was called to pick up a dragons breathe. The fruity soda is delicious and the dragons breathe is just amazing.
Interesting concept, the line is way tooo long though. Not worth the time waiting. Fine to try it once but Id pick a time when the line is shorter. I got a strawberry dipping sauce on the side and it helps to add some flavor to the fruit loop. Youll want to get a cup to share with friends. Fun for kids, they love this stuff.
Great experience! The dragons breath was fruity and fun. It looked awesome and tasted different. Highly recommend anyone to take some time and try it out!
The dragon breath is more a novelty rather than a tasty thing to eat. Its worth $5 for entertainment, but not food. The novelty is lost quickly, particularly if youve had a chance to play with liquid nitrogen before.
They have a variety of interesting things to try, I recommend the Dragons Breath, Ive never had anything like it. It was really cool trying out new desserts. However it felt very crammed inside because there werent enough tables. When we did find one, it was sticky and dirty. Not to mention its located in a pretty sketchy area.
The dragon breath was cool to try. But the flavor was not all that great. I recommend the banana split. Unfortunately they dont make the shaved ice anymore
Dragon breaths were fun desserts. Three guys behind the counter and every table was filthy. Hadn’t been cleaned all day and they could care less They were too busy watching videos. Cashier asked me if it was okay if he changed my 20 with quarters only.
Ordered the dragon breath here! It was surely an innovative dessert. But that’s about it. It’s just fruit cereal covered in liquid nitrogen. Wouldn’t go back for it.
The kids loved it because of the dragons breath. I thought it was more like captain crunch. Good to experience it once, but wouldnt do the drive just for that.
Dragons Breath 7/10. Its fun for kids. Its an oversized fruity cereal puff. Not good but the kids dug it. The coffee ice cream was amazing. They didnt have any shaved ice which was a bummer. Wouldnt go back unless youre buying!
Dragons breath is awesome. The amount of fun liquid nitrogen puff ball soup can bring to a human!
A fun dessert place to go. The Dragons breath was fun. But I was hoping that it could have more flavor in it. But over all, it was fun.
On google I wanted to go to a place that has liquid nitrogen cereal puffs and I find this place but after 33 minutes of driving it’s says that it is open, guess what ITS CLOSED
Really cool it’s like a ice cold ball with a flavor of your choice (we chose strawberry) it was fun and different. Would try again.
Good dessert choice! Maybe a little bit of hype yes, but still very good all in all!
Fun unique experience w friends or kids... Theres usually quite a line as its a fun fad (speaking of the liquid nitrogen infused treats).
In love with this place. I mean everything!!! I try match tiramisu and ume soft serve so yummy . So cute little place. Cant wait to go back.
Frozen cereal balls.... Taste like captain crunch, dipping sauce is flavored milk I think. Just a gimmick not tasty. The organic ice cream was ok lacked deep or rich blueberry flavor.
Super cool.
Went to get the nitro ice cream. Not exactly ice cream but definitely was fun to blow fog around. The place has little seating. We ended up leaving however because there was an explosion in the back of some sort and it scared my stepson.
Cool little spot. Go more for the experience than the actual food. Dragons breath is cool but the novelty wears fast.
Second visit, just as yummy! Famous for Dragons Breathe, but other stuff is even tastier. Macaroons are delicious.
Less than 1 star actually!Probably the most stuck up & unfriendly people working behind the counter. Oh did I mention rude?If your not happy with the portion of your desert. When told your macaroon would be the size of a small scoop of icecream and was actually the size of a quarter, as in .25 cents. My boyfriend was flipped off, cussed out and the biggest older guy. He actually lunged at my boyfriend, as to pick a fight. My boyfriend doesnt take disrespect too kindly, nor would anyone else. My boyfriend was ready to hand out a lesson in manors to punks who think they are pretty tough behind a counter. The dragons breath actually tasted like fruity pebbles cereal. It left a slim on the roof of my mouth. The experience was awful, as well as the service. This was our first time here. It will be the last time too. We were visiting from another state. This place was recommded as a fun, upbeat, friendly place. I will not be recommending this place to anyone I know. The manager or owner was behind the counter and saw everything and did absolutely nothing. Just a disgusting experience. Just because you have a fun product doesnt mean you will have repeat business with a rude staff!!!!
I tried blueberry ice cream and it was made with fresh fruit and just right amount of sweetness. Also tried dragons breath, it was fun to eat and to share.
Music is on point. The dragon breath was fun to do. Sitting is limited but its fun to sit outside with the fam then inside.. something different.
I ordered dragons breath for an Instagram worthy picture. What a disopoinment, it taste like Captain Crunch. Limited seating. The waiters dont make it effort to keep any of the tables clean. We actually saw a customer ask the cashier to clean a table for them and he refused, just giving her napkins. Try it once if you want, but really not worth it.
The Dragon breath were really cool for the first time, but nothing else. It had no flavor, and sometimes burned your teeth and tongue from liquid nitrogen. I also recommend to be careful with braces, the nitrogen may damage them.
Addicted to their green tea tiramisu.. no words can describe it. Say goodbye to my postpartum diet.
Love this place. Dragon breath ice cream is the best, taste like cereals, gotta get the dipping sauce with it, if not, no fun.
Known for the famous Dragons Breath, however whatever you do... DONT DUMP THE DIPPING SAUCE INTO YOUR CUP
We got the dragons breath. What an experience! Not extremely tasty, but extremely worth it. Would recommend to anyone in the area.
Dragons breath is fun. But if you want it get your mouth burned along with your tongue go here..i dont hate it I just dont like it very much. Because you get your mouth burned kind of no matter what you do........also bathrooms arent the best
Great ice-cream they make it from scratch. The banana sundae was delicious, also the dragon breath is something new and fun.
Dragon spheres are the draw. Love the boba tea. Green tea ice cream was the best Ive had.
Definitely a little pricy for cereal with liquid nitrogen, but its an awesome experience. DONT buy the dipping sauces, its just different flavors of milk which you can get for free by guessing which hand the employee has it in.
Must visit atleast once. Their strawberry ice cream is so delicious. Drippings food the dragon breathe us awesome.
Interesting and great idea but it was very tasteless and blah.. Brought the kids and they first liked it but after a couple of those colorfull balls, kids started complaining that their tongues and heads were hurting.. Wondering if this is OK to eat?! What kids turn dowbn dessert?!
Located in the heart of Koreatown, this whole in the wall venue has some good desserts to satisfy your sweet tooth. These frozen fruit loop type balls are pretty cool, theyre called Dragons Breath, because when youre eating it you can breath frozen ice smoke. They also serve Boba tea, diffent flavors, frappes, and other goodies.
This place brought me and my daughter just a little bit closer cool place
I only tried the Dragon stuff. Overhyped and has no taste(buy toppings and the taste should improve). 2 stars for making me laugh.
You have got to try the Dragons Breathe, the kids love it and it is a cool experience as well.
Dragon breath are the best!!
Only come to this place for Dragons Breath it will get served within a couple of mins. I ordered shaved ice from this place and they took almost 30 minutes during no rush hour.. My friends were done with theirs before I received my order. Ugh.... Price for shaved ice was almost $15 and is only served in large cup!
I had a wonderful rose petal ice cream. It was the best choice.
Brought kids here to experience dragon breath which they liked (unimpressed flat cereal taste) . For 5.×× u get a descent amnt and definitely can share between 2 people..I bought 4! (save $ nxt time!) The place is small but managed to get a table w/4 ch. I would have liked friendlier (cashier was too serious and forgot my order) customer service, a cleaner table.Would i come back? Nhaaaa. Will kids nag me? Theyll get over it.
Cool place. The hype over the dragon ice cream is too high. Would not go again but a cool experience.
Cool place and the dessert was interesting. Would be cool to explore the area toi
Every time I go the Damn young boy cashier always has an attitude. Be sides that its good
First time trying dragon balls, my daughter had a lot of fun
My kids loved the main attraction, Dragons breath. A must try. They also have sinful ice creams and icies. Yumm
Liquid nitrogen was cool, but food wasnt great. Tried dragons breath and vanilla ice cream.
One star! Me and my children isnt happy with business due to heavy traffic and there no public parking plus dragon breath seems isnt great! I prefer in Buena Park!
Omg I love this place and the Dragon breath is amazing you should try it.
Its cool for a first timer. I have to try more to get a better feel of the place
Novel idea for $5 dragons breath is golf ball capn crunch in a bath of liquid nitrogen, attended by a choice of colored corn syrup dipping sauces. So exciting for the first 83 seconds..then I wonder who in my district gave consent to that many 6 ft drums of pressurized gas a block from my house, and exactly what does the fda think is an acceptable amount of whatever chemical agent im ingesting. Fun. Great for kids who eat McDonalds anyway😉
Great ..Dragon breath is the most amazing experience on fun and taste also the ice cream delicious
Although the dragons breath was fun, it was definitely not ice cream, just some crispy cereal, and it hurt! I now have blisters on the roof of my mouth. Not fun..
Love it they had delicious icecream ever cant wait to go back again 😚😙😑
The worker named Kevin Hwang has excellent attitude towards his customer and also has fabulous 손맛 when it comes to his signature green tea frap.Fair warning, dont take forever ordering, when you know youre going to get dragons breath in the end.P.S Im not associated with Mr.Hwang in any ways.
Oh its good! Read all the Yelp reviews before coming in. Those who think it doesnt taste like purple sweet potato, oh you are wrong. As a person who does not leave the house without a baked purple sweet potato as a snack, i know how it taste since its my daily staple. Their signature bora ice cream taste like purple sweet potato! Their sweet potato tiramisu is also good! I also dont think its overpriced, just look at the prices at somi somi or bumsan. At bora you can actually sit down at an air conditioned room and enjoy your ice cream before it starts to melt!!Also love the Aesthetics: flowers, traditional Korean earthenware and the pictures of kids in handbook! So cute!! Highly recommend when youre in town!
I never been here at all. I just have a request or suggestion. My suggestion is that u can have another Chocolate Chair in Michigan. Like in Romulus or Inkster so other people can try your Dragons Breath Balls because they might not be able to come out there and try them. I hope tge owner sees my suggestion and take it under consideration. Thank u.
The dragin breath here is good
The is great i never heard of it before but now that know WOW is good awsome sauce
Service is bad... They didnt have anything I tried to order... Dragons breath is good though
It was okay for me not a big fan of the taste of the ball...but they also have Shakes which are really good...
Overrated, dragon breath is cool but doesnt taste like anything.
Cool dragons breath, their menu needs updating and they need more choices
Everyone must experience this form of enjoying a sweet treat with liquid nitrogen ice cream
It could have been due to the popularity of the place that it was very messy. Most people HAD to sit outside. Since inside its very stuffy.
Wasnt open very bummed out
As fun as the dragons breath looks. Its pretty much a cereal ball frozen with liquid nitrogen. Quite dangerous, as my friends mouth got burned from the liquid nitrogen.
Yum, yum, yum. Dragons breath, its an amazing food that makes youu feel like a dragon lol. The liquid nitrogen makes it seem cool! A large cup runs between $5 and back but its a big cup lol. Its a little complicated to park but its worth it. Once you find parking, youre in for a treat! Enjoy
