Only get the red bean because its the best! But also I like to keep my taiyaki the OG way so perhaps I am biased. If you buy a bunch and air fry them at home they taste just as crispy and fresh. Their dough is perfect I want to marry this fish
Very tasty and quick service! Great prices and all around fun option for a snack or dessert! Definitely try this out when you’re in the area!
Delicious and fun to make your own order. Creamy and melty and so good. Prepare to wait in line!!!
Ube & cookies n cream ice cream was incredibly tasty and blended very well together with the Nutella filling I chose. The other flavor (2nd pic) was milk tea and matcha with taro filling and I didn’t think that was that good of a match but that may be just personal preference. The taiyaki (the fish shaped pastry) was very crunch and soft on the inside, incredible! Overall would recommend and the outdoor scenery is also pretty cool. Note: They only have 6 flavors at a time that they rotate, you won’t be able to get all of the flavors you see online.
One of the best places to get green tea soft serve.Green Tea - cold, soft, that tasted like green tea. Didn’t have much of a matcha taste to it, which I prefer. The Nutella is nicely coated on the inside of the fish.Rating based on food alone.Service was great and loved that each worker wears something to cover their mouth to prevent from accidentally spitting into customers ice cream when preparing it.Would I come back? Certainly.
A+Definitely worth the calories. Had the one with Nutella inside and vanilla soft serve. Delicious! Definitely going back next time Im in LA.
Awesome flavors and pretty cool that they offer free toppings! My only complaint is that the ice cream starts melting almost immediately, and you have to eat it quickly at the beginning to keep it from dripping all over you. Also, ask for parking validation and you get 2 hrs in the parking garage for free!!
Didnt have that many flavored options, the Oreo Crumbs were just a little bit of sprinkled dust that it didnt even taste like Oreos 😒😑 a box of oreos costs less than the ice cream itself! The milk ice cream tasted good though, it was super creamy and it tastes like actual milk 👍🏼 the custard and the little fishy cone were really good as well. At least you get free parking validation with your purchase😁 the place didnt have any chairs to sit so their customers sit on the chairs outside from the restaurant next door 🤦🏻♀️
Very tasty soft serve ice cream and I enjoyed the novelty of the soft, warm fish-shaped waffle cone.I ordered ube and Oreo swirl soft serve with an upside down fish filled with nutella, then added Oreo crumbles and a strawberry. It was a very decadent and filling desert. Would be good for splitting. My girlfriend ordered the fish right side up and that did get pretty messy. They had lots of outdoor seating and you could spread out throughout the mall as well.
Delicious and Instagram worthy! The line was insanely long during the weekend, about 40 minutes, even though it moved quickly. The ice cream was flavorful and true to taste. The taiyaki perfectly crunchy and thin.Crazy during weekends, credit accepted, free shared parking lot.Update: no line anymore! Still great!
The waffle cone is crispy on the outside, yet thick, and a little chewy, which is a very pleasant texture. The filing is generous, and the ice cream is flavorful. What a treat!
My favorite part about going to SomiSomi... saying SomiSomi... its just fun, ya know?Anywho... as something of a self-proclaimed ice cream expert, I have to say that while i do like the presentation and the waffles at SomiSomi, the ice cream itself leaves something to be desired. Its by no means bad, its just not necessarily special. Most recently I had the Ube + Milk mixture in a nutella waffle cone and sprinkles on top (bc obviously). The nutella waffles was great, but the ube + milk mixture was just kinda ok. Note that I did try all the flavors (they only had 4) so this was the best from the combinations I had.Overall I would say if youre looking for a quick fix with limited options, then this is in that good enough category, but wouldnt say its worth a drive out to get!Stay Cheerful ;)
Somi Somi is so delicious I try to come as often as I can. I enjoy the soft serve and the taiyaki!
Located on the 2nd floor in the plaza. The fish-cone ice cream place!Soft serve flavored ice cream with a special cone makes your dessert look like a fish stuffing its face with ice cream.Pick an ice cream flavor (Milk, Matcha, Ube or Black Sesame) and then a filling (custard, Nutella or red bean) and then top off your picks with a variety of fun cereals and sprinkles.Ube is a purple root, with white chocolate and pistachio flavors. Often confused with Taro, which is also a root but isn’t actually very purple.Ice cream was soft and creamy, not too sweet but plenty rich. Costs about $6 per fish cone.Expect a line out the door, the line moves quickly. Employees are super friendly and they care about getting your fish cone looking like a fish. Presentation is everything here!!Free parking with validation.
There was a line and we had to wait a few minutes for them to make the ice creams. But it was worth the wait! I chose milk flavored ice cream, a Nutella filling and Oreo cookie crumble and nonpareils toppings. You could choose as many toppings as you wanted however! In addition, you could choose between a macaroon or a strawberry. The macaroon was one sided but delicious. Next time, I will try green tea flavored ice cream and a red bean filling for a traditional treat. There are other shops on this complex also offering this dessert but the line was here so I took that as a very good sign!
The ice cream here is pretty good, although I loved the Taiyaki (fish shaped cones). The cones are a very fluffy texture and tastes great with the filling and the ice cream especially. Not only do these desserts taste good, they look amazing and are very instagramable. Pretty long lines, but definitely worth the wait. There are free toppings as well, Id highly recommend!
Im surprised how the Nutella one wasnt too sweet!
One of the best ice cream places Ive been too!
Polite staff. I didnt know what I wanted but I saw a pic online and showed it to the guy at the counter and he knew exactly what flavor. And he offered to give me a sample to try. This stuff is good. And the fish shaped cone made it more awesome. I went plain but they offered free toppings which I thought was cool. Come try it.
When my boyfriend and I were visiting LA, we decided to check out Koreatown and after having dinner, came here for dessert. We decided to share an ice cream. We got the matcha ice cream, and it was delicious! It didnt taste artificial, like some matcha flavored foods do, and it wasnt overly sweet. I wish we had this in Houston! I will definitely come back if Im ever in LA.
The ice creams taste amazing and the wait is relatively short. You have a selection of 2 types of ice cream flavor, filling, and topping. The Ice cream cone is shaped like a fish which I thought was pretty aesthetically pleasing in relation with the shop. Overall had good experience with friends at this place.
Love it! Had the oreo ice cream. Had it with the waffle fish and it was so delicious. Nutella filling. The waffle is super crispy/ and soft at the same time. Ive also had taro ice cream..and its delicious with the red bean filling.
Delicious ice cream 🍦
Cant go wrong with taiyaki + ice cream + macaron. The rest of the plaza closes early so if you get lost just listen for the people standing in line. The line system was scattered so its hard to track if someone cut in line, especially with so many large groups. I waited nearly 45min on a Saturday night ~ 10:00PM. It was really good but I dont think Id come back on a busy night.
Somi Somis soft serve is super good. I love their taro flavor with the taiyaki, and I also highly recommend it to try it.
This place is amazing! The ice cream here is to die for, seriously a one-of-a-kind type of taste to it! Its a small, all-glass shop in a shopping mall in Koreatown. Its very simple, with only a few flavor combination options, but they all taste delicious. Sometimes, simple is best. That is definitely the case here! You can watch them make the custom, fish-shaped cones right in front of you. You then choose to fill them with either custard, nutella, or red beans. I got the custard, and it tasted incredible. I actually loved the cone even more than the ice cream itself! A bit pricey at about $6 for an ice cream cone, but it comes with a lot of extras and a truly rich and delicious flavor that makes it well worth it.
Great dessert spot! Havent been here in a while and they added ube! Ube was great and I recommend it. It had a nice flavor and wasnt too sweet. We shared one treat for two people and it was decent sized. We also didnt get any toppings. We got the custard and it was nice with the ube. The custard wasnt too sweet and it paired well with the cone.Service was friendly and they work fast. We came in the afternoon and the line wasnt too long. It is located on the second floor. I know Ill be back one day. They have a bunch of these stores popping up everywhere.
I thought this place was going to be another Instagram popular ice cream store thats very mediocre but I was happy to be proven wrong. Yes, it is very cute but it also tastes pretty good. The ice cream was very soft and creamy. The milk flavor wasnt too sweet for me and I love that you can change the taiyaki filling. Nutella taiyaki is magical and I actually miss this place. Please come to Nor Cal!
Ive come here multiple times and it is always worth it. Staff is friendly too :D Definitely recommended to order with the Waffle fish and also recommend using a spoon. Without a spoon your hands will definitely get messy lol
I am an ice cream lover and I thought this place was just ok. Customer service sucked! Ice cream was average. Quirky and interesting but for the real ice cream lover its kind of lacking. Definitely worth a try its just not all that.Perhaps my experience would have been different had the workers been nicer. As it was though its the only place I didnt tip while the wife and I were in town visiting her parents.
I love this place!!Service is always prompt even when they have a full house. The service was very friendly and attentive. Prices that are reasonable
Love the black sesame and ube swirl. They have four flavor of icecream that are available in two different combination/swirls each week (on rotation!). You get to pick one large topping and unlimited smaller toppings. They had custard/nutella/red bean filling for boong-uh (gold fish). Honestly thought the custard worked well with the cone and icecream. Enjoy!
Loved the ube ice cream with custard. Super good!
Came back after a few months and super happy that they’re open again. It’s our cheat meal of preference and it’s still perfect service. Miss the tasting though, darn COVID...
If you try this place once, you will get unstoppable, random cravings for it at least once every couple months afterwards. One of the most delicious desserts me or my friends have ever had. That red bean filling is wonderful. Also, parking is super easy and they validate!
So good! Long line, worth the wait. I preferred the bowl so I could eat the waffle at the same time, which is delicious soft and crispy. And the Taro or Custard fillings were both sweet.
Really tasty, sweet dairy confections. High quality and slightly expensive Ice Cream, Shakes, Pastries, candies, etc. Its like a hip take on the classic Ice Cream Parlor... which could be potentially obnoxious, but it works. A fun place to take a date or grab something sweet before or after a double feature at the wonderful New Beverly.
It’s nice looking! But good for only30 sec.... the ice cream is too soft/half melting... even in mid October when it’s not hot outside. It dropped all over my clothes, that happened to my friend as well. Ice cream itself it’s kind too sweet too.. only plus it’s the nice presentation, unique
My wife, my daughter and my granddaughter are regulars and the love the fruity and freshness of Somi Somi, I finally was convinced to try it even though I am not an ice cream fan. I am regular now, I love the fresh and healthy fruit. Employee made the ice cream so homogenous and fresh. My favorites the strawberry and I definitely recommend it if youre looking for a healthier approach for sweet delights.
Nice place the ice cream is good. the waffle is also nice and fluffy and compliments the ice cream. there are 4 flavors milk green tea sesame and ube. they switch flavor combinations every week my personal favorite is milk and green tea. they also have 3 fillings for the waffle, nutella, custard, and red bean.
Ube ice cream in a fish shaped pastry with custard was so good. I got it coated with fruity pebbles and a macaroon. Eat it quickly because it melts in the LA heat. Better yet, ask for it in a cup and get a spoon, much less messy. Either way, grab some napkins and enjoy. They validate parking too. Hand the ticket with your ice cream payment.
One of my favorite ice cream places. Theres free structure parking (2 hour validation) and very creamy ice cream with some free toppings you would expect from a yogurt place. It is pretty good value, but definitely worth for the taste. My friends and I often come back here after dinner in KoreaTown.
The Service: Staff is very friendly and personal. Very efficient service. Excellent service! The Ice-cream: Love love love the fish pasty instead of regular cone! They even put stuffing inside (red bean, custard or nutella). The ice-cream is creamy. My favorite part has to be adding all these colorful toppings!!The Parking: Plaza parking lot (free with validation)
