This was my go-to store for comics in the 1980s and 1990s. Both Mike and Sid were good guys who loved comics and cared about them a great deal. When I left Lubbock in 1995 this was the one store I missed most. 😕

Everything from Used Books and Novels to comics to statues and toys. Hands down - My absolute favorite comic book store in Texas!

Went in asking about a old Detective Comic I had. They are very helpful and did everything they could to answer the questions. They also have a lot of neat stuff to buy.

Star comics is my favorite place on earth. I am in the shop three times a week on average. It is basically my home away from home, my escape, my own personal zen garden. I love to look at all the fun toys, I am there every week for my pull list, Robert, Brandon, Todd and the rest are always friendly and helpful. Plenty willing to talk to me for hours on end if I have something to talk about and kind enough to leave me to my thoughts when I’m having a bad day and just trying to relax. This is the shop for you. You won’t be disappointed.

Love this place, every one is so helpful and friendly. Amazing selection of back orders. They dont try to sell you the most expensive things. They ask what you are looking for and find you what you want. Ive talked to pretty much the entire staff and everyone has outstanding customer service. Will keep going back for all my Batman needs.

It’s easy to forget that long before comics were the hottest properties in Hollywood and geek was “chic”, Star Comics was there.Think about that for a moment. When Deadpool made his first appearance, you could have bought it right off the shelf at Star Comics. Same thing for Harley Quinn, the current incarnations of Suicide Squad, Guardians of the Galaxy, Walking Dead, Constantine and countless others.They have been providing both comics and an epicenter for nerd culture in West Texas for several decades now and they have always done it better than anybody. When the first graphic novels appeared, Star carried them. Comic supplies, t-shirts, posters…you name it, Star had it and still does.I was lucky to find Star when I first started seriously collecting comics. They guided me to the right titles and made sure I always found everything I needed, even when I wasn’t sure exactly what it was.Sure, lately it seems like everyone is jumping on the Comic bandwagon. And, sure, you could go to one of the new places that has popped up to take your money. But no other place will have the history and no other place will have the heart. Because Star Comics was there when comics weren’t cool and you’ll find no better or more knowledgeable staff anywhere.

The owner is super friendly, and hes remembered my name even though I dont make it to the store as often the days. The new location is more convenient and laid out in a great way for finding what you need. I highly recommend it!

Great comic shop in a nice new location. They have tons of comicsvl and graphic novels. Not a lot of collectibles, but a few. 4stars because its definitely an old school type of comic shop with an old guy usually behind the counter staring down his nose at you. They support local artists though, which i love! Definitely worth stopping in if you are a comic collector. Some high end comics as well as weekly releases. Danny is our favorite comic guy here... very knowledgeable.

Im that person who goes into a comic store and buys books. Im not a comic person but it looked like a wide selection of comic books. I was delighted to see a small section of books and novelty items. I bought two books for $10 and these are book so would normally pass by in a bookstore.The staff were amazing and super nice. I hope to see if they have some Walking Dead comics because I would love to read those.

I am no longer welcome at this once wonderful store.I am, after ending 60 years of abuse, an outspoken old man. Theyre trying to help me, by merit of their unjustified attempt at reigning in that aspect of my personality. In other words, a continuance of the psychological abuse I ended.Also, they best clear out all the Star Trek memorabilia they bought months ago. The real owner is heading in, with records and receipts, in order to reclaim whats left of her property.

Star Comics is the only place to buy comics in hundreds of miles that actually respects you as a person instead of a consumer target. The staff will go out of there way to make you feel valued and never try to sell youbon something you dont want. Sometimes I have ignorant questions or crazy requests and I am always met with understanding and thoughtfulness. Whether you walk out with an armload or empty hands you are thanked just the same. While the comic elitist can chat away I notice this is also a place a family with kids can find child safe books of their favorite superheroes or fan favorites like Pokemon. This place truly cares about community and seemingly has for decades. Never a bad experience nor have I ever witnessed anyone else have one. It truly is a gem in Lubbock.

These are the guys who helped me get into comics. They answer questions, make excellent recommendations, and carry a great selection. Theyre also very active in the local community, organizing events both in the store and around town. You cant go wrong with Star Comics.

As a comic creator myself this is hands down the best comic shop in town! They support local creators, hunt down hard to finds for you and the owner has a heart of gold. I will always bring my money here from new, to back issues or finding that missing issue for my collection they always have me covered. Star Comics is simply best for well over 100 miles!

This location is even better than the old one and the customer service and personality are still there! I read a lot of comics these days and almost none of them are super hero related. Its always comforting that Im not expected to know all the super hero lore that is currently going on and that if I have questions they explain in a way that doesnt feel ostracizing like other places and people can. On the flipside they also ask about the titles I do read in a effort to learn about something they dont know about and help me find titles that I like based on what I like and dont particularly care for. For those that like to sample a round, this staff is like having a curator for you short boxes and for those we are loyal title fans, they always make sure you dont miss out on whats next.
