Unethical and unprofessional. Quoted me $500 for part the dealership was only charging $200 for, and 3.5 - 4.5hrs of labor for what the dealer quoted as 2.5 - 3.5 hours max. Found another local shop that would only charge me $175 for the -exact- same part. Do your research folks, ask questions, ask for itemized quotes, and shop around for the best price.

Unfortunately my car broke down while i was on my way to visit my friend who lived in Melrose. He recommended i bring my car here to get looked at . bruce the owner explained to me in detail exactly what was wrong with my car . he also recommended that i do a safety check then he showed me the excessive wobble in my front end which happened to need a ball joint luckily he discovered it, my wheel was about to fall off my car. The staff was super friendly and they also provide a loaner car (if available) thankfully it was at that time which was very helpful to me. They definitely earned my bussiness.

Bruce at Tremont St. Garage is very easy to talk to and very helpful with explaining things to the mechanically challenged people like myself. Tremont St Garage by far is the greatest Garage EVER. They took great care of my car and really took my care into their mind. I hadnt known it but I was driving on extremely bad tires. Tremont St Garage was upfront with me and never played games.And today when I went back for a bulb change they once again squeezed me in between appointments to get it done.Overall they deliver great customer service and keep you informed as the process continues.

Tremont Street Garage has been the most positive auto repair experience in my life. Bruce took the time to unravel the mystery of what caused my daughter’s car to stop working and explained everything to me without making me feel stupid. He tried many ways to keep the cost down for us and came in well under his “worst case” budget. I can not recommend this place enough. We have taken all our family’s cars to Bruce for 25 years . He is a trusted part of the family. We have recently moved 45 minutes away and still take all our cars to Bruce. He loans you one of his cars at no cost to you while they work on your car. Bruce will always tell you what needs to be fixed now and what can wait . I completely trust his judgement. He has gotten my family out of many a jam - when my husband seized his engine - Bruce found someone to buy the car for scrap. When my teenage son’ s car died and he was heartbroken, Bruce found another car for him to buy that was perfect . He goes out of his way to help you out. We will never take our cars anywhere else .

The guys at Tremont St Garage have been maintaining our vehicles for over 10 years now and we are more than satisfied. I own a flower shop, so if one of our delivery vans are down, were in big trouble! We put a lot of miles on both our business & personal vehicles and they have always been there for us! Ive read others talking about higher prices, Ive found that they are very thorough...checking everything but are right up front with me about what need to be dealt with immediately, whats a safety issue and what I can put off! They also keep us moving by providing a loaner vehicle at no charge, the only expectation is that you return it filled with gas...the same way you get it! Hands down the best repair shop! Bruce and his guys have been fixing my 2003 Monte Carlo for the past five years and its never run better. They always tell me up front what needs to be done and the expected cost of the repair and they always end up lower than the quoted estimate. How can you beat that! They put me in a loaner car when it goes in for service so that I am never without transportation and they keep me informed from start to finish. Excellent quality and customer service. How many times is the actual price substantially lower than the estimate? Not often enough, but thats exactly what happened when my car was repaired by Bruce and his crew last week.After breaking down on 93S at rush hour, and a white-knuckle tow ride back to Melrose, I was pretty sure I was in for a huge bill. I was called at the promised time with an estimate that was already much lower than the worst case scenario Id envisioned, and the car was ready later that same day at 20% less than the estimated price.Bruce went through my car with a fine-tooth comb, pointed out all the work done, as well as a few things that might require attention in the future.When the shop calls and starts off the conversation with, What do you want first, the good news...or the good news?, you know youre in good hands.

In short: The customer service I received from the owner, Bruce, was horrendous and his remarkable ineptitude (described below) was stunning. AAA towed my 87 Mercedes here (as per their recommendation) after the alternator failed. From the start Bruce had a cold and patronizing demeanor. He wanted to charge me $75 to attach a voltmeter to the battery and alternator. I said the man from AAA had just done that, and Bruce insulted the driver by saying something like, “What does a tow truck driver know? He has no education.” If that condescension isn’t enough to turn you away from this garage, the quote to replace my alternator was $725 and Bruce said they would NOT GUARANTEE THE WORK.My mechanic (unfortunately 50 miles away) had quoted me a total of $250 to replace the alternator and belt. That’s $475 cheaper than the Tremont St. Garage. In the end, I bought a $106 alternator and $21 belt from the auto parts store, and replaced both with my brother (something we had never done before) in TWO hours. My car (which has been maintained meticulously) is now running perfectly.The rest of the story: Before I left the garage I confronted Bruce about his treatment of the AAA driver and his outrageous quote. He offered no apology and defended his insult toward the driver. Bruce also demonstrated his complete lack of mechanical knowledge by saying that my replacing the alternator would not fix the problem with the charging system. The alternator’s job is literally to charge the battery of the car (smh). Unfortunately, he continued spewing his incompetence by saying that alternators on Mercedes 190Es last forever. I think that my thirty-year-old alternator that ran for 160,000 miles had a fine life and deserved to rest. SMH again.Lastly, a car was parked behind mine so I couldn’t leave the premises until I paid a $35 overnight fee that was not mentioned when I brought it in for the quote. I disputed the charge with my credit card company, and received a refund. Please do not get screwed by these people!

I recently had my brakes done in my Acura Tl. they gave me a computerized printout of the work order before anything was done. explained in detail what i needed right away and what i will need to do down the line. i really liked how the were not pushy and all in all gave me a fair price for a massive amount of work. i will bring my car back here for sure,

My experience with this garage was dreadful. I was greeted by a friendly man who gave me a quote on my vechicle. Although I appreciated his fast response time, the numbers he quoted me were astromical. $550 for two new front tires and a wheel alignment. Then another $800 to replace the breaks+Rotors and change the air filter. I take it to NTB in Everett MA, They are replacing my punctured front tire the rotors, break pads, synthetic oil change, air filter and 12k 100% coverage warranty for $750. The man accused me of not trusting him when I declined his services, my gut was right . AAA must make a fortunate recommending this overpriced manipulative mechanic. They offered me 10% off to use this garage. What’s the point of 10% off if the prices are jacked up 166%-200%?

Quoted me $530 for rear pads and filters. Totals parts cost in parts store $130 with OEM pads. Plus pads turned out to be just fine. $400 for labor less than 1.5 hours - $300 per hour. Rip off artist, stay the hell away. UPDATE: Took me 10 minutes per wheel for rear pads and all of 20 minutes for all filters = 40 minutes. $400.

Worst place on earth! Absolutely pathetic! The owner told me they opened at 7am so I set a appointment for 7AM for a routine inspection, online it says they open at 6am and on the front door it says 7:30am (strike one) when i called to see if i could pick the car up around 8:30am the owner threw a tantrum whining that they had just opened now and his mechanics havent even picked up a tool yet. The place is literally dirty and smells like trash. Theres no waiting room and the chairs for customers to sit in where DEFINITELY taken from someones garbage. When I showed up at 9:30am to pick up the car the owner gave me more attitude. I took the high road and just asked him for an eta? His answer was ITS DONE WHEN ITS DONE!!! (strike two) To be honest, hes just a fat rude miserable prick. I could write a novel about how terrible this place was, but Ill cut it short. So the inspection that shouldnt have taken more than an hour that was a SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT for 7AM got finished at 11:30am They wasted FIVE HOURS of my work day stranded there without a loaner because they lied to me throughout every step of the entire process and were RUDE and OBNOXIOUS as they did it. The inspection was 150 dollars and I INSTANTLY noticed the CAR DROVE WORSE when I finally got it back. I think this place might actually be a competitor for WORSE GARAGE IN MASSACHUSETTS!!! If this review doesnt sway you to go somewhere else, good luck. Youll witness the EXTREME LEVEL OF INCOMPETENCE that is tremont street garage for yourself soon enough.UPDATE: After writing this review I took a walk around the car and noticed that there are two HUGE gouges taken out of the front passenger side tire that where not there when I brought the car in (pictures to follow). Atleast an inch and a half wide and three quaters of an inch deep. They took the car for a test drive and this is how they returned it. Im going to report this to the better business bureau so hopefully they cant take advantage of anyone else ever again. I hope they get what they deserve. (SHUT DOWN)

I would never go here again. Like other reviewers stated this place is a rip off. Their prices are terrible - they were double what they should have cost - Im talking over $1,000 when it should have been $500.

Fantastic service, went there to get my lights inspected, not only did they figure that out but they also found out the reason why my transmission was acting up.
