This is by far the very best automotive repair shop I have ever been privileged to encounter. Their level of prompt, professional, courteous, and efficient care for my automobile was unsurpassed. I cannot say enough good things about them. Eddie, the first person I encountered at the front desk was highly respectful about my concerns and treated me with the utmost professionalism. His on the spot efficiency made me feel at ease about what needed to be done in resolving my transmission problems. I purchased a used vehicle that had the transmission rebuilt at another AAMCO location over 5.5 hours from me. When I had issues I brought the car to this location and they made sure to help me with transferring the warranty. The technicians are extremely knowledgeable and took the time to explain what was going on with the car. The manager Jimmy has always been friendly and goes out of his way to help you. Even after the repair, they have taken time out of their day multiple times to recheck my car and make sure everything is running correctly. I cant recommend enough!!

I had transmission problems and took my car here and is very pleased with Eddie and how informative he is. They are still working on rebuilding my transmission and I have not received my car back yet but I am am very confident that I will not have any concerns with the service that is being provided.. All the workers here are outstanding! They are very professional and friendly, they get what you need done in a very timely manner, and the prices are the best in the region. You definitely get your moneys worth every visit, and then some!! I had a bumper that was duct taped up, and I believe George was his name, went ahead and fixed it for me! I needed engine light fixed within a week for upcoming emissions test to renew plates, googled and found AAMCO in Merrillville. Manager Jimmy was very helpful and professional. He actually shows you the problem, knowledgeable in his work and shows determination in getting the job done right. I had the problem fixed right before my expiration and was able to get renewal done on time. They also help with various finance options. Highly recommend!! 😊

From the moment I spoke to Tyler on the phone he was very professional and helpful. Some car shops try to take advantage of you but he was clear on what they could and couldn’t do to my car and was also willing to point me in the right direction for other work that I needed. I high recommend Aamcco for car services!!!!!!

So the guys I dealt with were very professional and nice. That being said, neither of the two problems I had were solved after whatever repairs were made. The oil leak came back third day after picking it up and the rough idol is still present. So even though I wouldnt go as far as to claim negligence its still just over $700 in problems not diagnosed or solved that I can see.

A friends car stopped and we began looking for a repair shop. I called AAMCO and Im so happy I did! Roy, the manager, was very courteous and supportive on the phone. We had the car towed to AAMCO to be checked; Roy greeted us with a smile and they quickly began diagnosing the problems with the car. When done, he explained everything in detail and gave us time to process the info prior to making a decision. We got online and checked other repair shops quotes for the work, and found AAMCO was giving us a really great deal! We had the engine replaced in just 4 days, getting my friend back on the road. Roy and the staff were professional and treated us with the utmost respect and kindness. I HIGHLY recommend AAMCO!!

I had some repair work completed at this location. The manager, Eddie was extremely friendly, helpful, and patient. George worked on my car and he explained and showed me all of his concerns. He did not ever make me feel like my questions were dumb. I honestly feel like they were reasonable in price and provided me with options to base my decisions on.

They took my car and looked at it right away. I was a walk in, not even close to the area. The guys were very nice and respective. They explained and showed me the problem. Went into detail about what exactly was wrong and how they went about it. Made sure they got my approval on anything they have done. By far the best AAMCO I’ve been too. I would definitely recommend.

A week and a half agoI had two cars that needed a transmission swap. Roy, the Manager of the place, laid out the options gave us no pressure and made the whole process that much easier. Not to mention he went above and beyond his duty. The whole environment is welcoming including the technicians in the back. The place is clean and organized. Recently had a rattle, rattle, thunder clatter boom boom boom happening to my car. Took it to a known car repair shop and was quoted an ungodly amount for the fix. After a morning of price comparisons I settled on Aamco. When I arrived Roy made me feel very comfortable and at ease sitting me down with a TV remote while the mechanics narrowed down the problem. A short time later Roy explained the problem in detail and gave me a price and service estimate.I appreciated the courtesy of the entire staff and would recommend this business to anyone in search of a great repair shop. They even made it my one spot stop by adjusting my tire pressure and replacing my windshield wipers. GREAT EXPERIENCE ALL AROUND!

I can’t say how much it means to have my sister come home with a smile from having her car serviced at Aamco. The diagnosis was spot on, the repairs were performed at a much lower cost than other shops we contacted. They even went a step further and performed a total car inspection at no charge. Were from Gatlings Funeral Home and we needed some work done to one of our hearses immediately. We were recommended to this facility from Chicago Halsted location of the work needed to be done was an extensive transmission rebuild and some new wiring. They were accurate in their analysis and very professional and the establishment is clean. The staff very friendly and courteous. This is the place we highly recommend for service of quality. Great work, were happy.

Requested manual trans rebuild and new clutch. After agreeing to invoice, they called back saying its $400 more. Said it was due to covid shipping increase. Later said the cost change was because the trans is a remanufactured one. So they ordered the wrong part and increased the cost due to their error. I hand to haggle to lower the price. Oh and Corporate has no power since each location is independently owned. Additionally, they did not properly re-secure the center console, left dirt on floors and greasy hand marks on the windshield. I bet they didnt sanitize it either. Plus had the car for 26 days.

Had my second service done here today. About 9 months ago they performed a trans fluid drain/fill in my Nissan Versa and today they replaced a serpentine belt on my 2012 Rogue. The man at the desk is very nice and does a really nice job of keeping the lines of communication open about whats happening with your car during the service. The mechanics I chatted with all seem extremely knowledgeable and treat your car as if it was their own. Im a recently retired police officer and skeptical by nature, but if Im reading this crew of men accurately, they are very reliable AND trustworthy. Aside from those attrubutes, the prices for their services are very good! If youre looking for an all-around great repair shop, they deserve your business.

My daughter got her rebuilt transmission put in at the AAMCO in Ohio. Five days later she had issues with it overheating on the way to WI. Took it to the AAMCO in Waukegan, IL n they only cleared the sensors without doing anything else. No more issues until 2 weeks later were on our way back to Ohio n the transmission starts overheating AGAIN! Luckily we were about 10 miles from the AAMCO in Merrillville. Spent 7 hrs here but they found n fixed the issue along with explaining everything before they touched the car & every step of the way during the time we were here. The guys were very polite, friendly, & attentive. Well be bringing the car back here for any more transmission problems. Were willing to drive 1 1/2 hrs from home to leave the car in good hands. Thanks guys!

I went in for a fluid exchange on my cvt transmission for my altima they were quick and efficient and took care of a tire issue that I had for a year in which am grateful. The shop is in a strip mall next to u-haul and And next door to Avis Eddie is at the desk was quick to answer my questions and get me in. Luis worked on my car and talked to me about the prior problem I had both were very helpful.

They offer many different options of warrenties on their work. While they may take a second glace to find, they are deffinitly an option for indepth inspections or for getting a second opinion from different auto shops.

Jimmy and his technicians did an excellent job serving my 2015 GMC Terrain. I brought my vehicle in with what I thought was a transmission problem and I was excited to hear it was something much easier (and less expensive) to fix.
