We bought a house from Clayton 5 years ago and Sharon there was amazing. She’s one of the nicest ladies around and answered every question no matter how silly. She made the buying experience easy and enjoyable. Fast Forward to this month where we are selling the house we purchased from her and she’s still available and just as helpful with questions and forms we need to sell. They don’t make em like Sharon anymore. Thanks for all you do!!!

I walked in and the man with all the tattoos on his arms was so rude. I just had a few questions and before I got them asked he wanted to know if I was pre-approved and what price range I was thinking. After my 2 answers he flipped a switch and I was no longer good enough to even be there. I was shocked by this because I had heard good things about this place. I will now tell anyone I meet about this experience.

They have great designers and designs but customer service is terrible and non existent. I wanted to verify which floorplan to get and worked around my daughters schedule to go see them in person. We saw them prior to Covid and thought we would get one of their homes. My daughter is a big factor in my selection. We went three times post quarantine and they turned us away each time. We were masked up for Covid days and they were empty but insisted we only come in only on an appointment basis. They said to come back another time. We couldnt do that so we went to Champion and had a wonderful experience every time we went. We went there about 3 times as well just to verify. We put cash down and have started the process with Champion. I figured if Clayton Mesa was that difficult to deal with at the beginning then didnt want to imagine what they would be like through the set-up process. We dont need the headache. We are excited about our new, upcoming home.

Did not have a good experience. He did not ask my name. He showed me units but didnt walk around and explain anything about them. I was there to buy my forever home and I found the one I wanted. I explained that to him but I dont think he was taking me serious. A little did he know I have over half the money to pay for that home sitting in the bank. He then proceeded to give me papers for their steps but stops any process of a sale. Kind of shooed meof their office with my children. Very disappointed because we really like the model we found. However I found out I can order it from their plant in Florida anyway. I explained my situation to their plant manager and theyre willing to help me out in any way.

I find them both to be very knowledgeable of the Clayton products. The Clayton products are well-designed and built. The amenities that they offer are very stylish and up-to-date for a new home. Buyer beware!. You are told one thing and they do another. We just wish they would have been upfront and honest rather than stringing us along. Even the mortgage people that they are in cahoots with!Preapproved for one amount and Clayton comes in extremely higher. After reading other reviews about their sale practices, I guess we can count ourselves lucky that we didnt end up buying. Couldnt even be bothered to email us back about getting our $1,000 escrow deposit back. I had to call the title company to find out what was going on. Andianna at security title didnt even know what was going on. Then we were told she had to get release from Clayton. Supposedly our check is in the mail. Where have I heard that before!! So very sorry we wasted our time. By the way, the excuse we got was the covid virus, that is why their selling practices changed. That was the icing on the cake!!

Regrets for buying a Clayton home in Mesa. It has taken several months to complete, 8 months when promised 5-8 weeks. I have found the staff to be dishonest (Chris Anderson). Let me start with my upgraded insulation of R50. I checked mine and found only 8 inches (it should have been14.5). They did come out and put about 75 bags in but covered up access prior to me being able to check after I had asked for verification.I was to have a trace celling and the factory forgot it. There was no way to fix at this point. I was to be compensated at closing but now they have forgotten all about it (Chris Anderson). There were items that were obviously left off our home that we told them about in February that were not fixed until August. We have numerous items that have not been fixed as of yet.At one point after we had paid for everything in cash (over $300,000), they had the nerve to call my wife and say they forgot an additional $9,000 in labor; but, they would be happy to split the costs with us ( we did not pay).I could go on and on. Communication with them are poor at best. They were always there to take my call although.Best advise from me.....GET EVERYTHING IN WRITTING. Better yet go with a reputable company.I guess thats what lawyers are for.

Wow, I have just finished the worst experience in my life while trying to work with Clayton. Chris Anderson gladly took my money and that was the last of hearing from him. 6 weeks after when I inquire about my project he simply says it was thrown on the bottom of their list and it would be another week or SO. I asked to get help from their manager and I was refused and told he doesnt work with customers. Those of you trying to buy a home would understand why this lack of care or communication with their customers is a problem. Thank goodness we cancelled our contract, the thought of continuing to work with this group nauseates me.

Review №35

When we first looked into a Clayton Home we had pretty good expectations. We had read most wonderful reviews, so we’re hoping to have an overall good experience as well.I’m sorry to say that the experience has been terrible. The staff at the office were nice enough but it ends there. There’s no one overseeing the contractors to make sure things are getting done when they claim they’re going to be done and no one checking the quality of the work. We realized halfway into it that the people who do the sales in the office are also managing the whole building process of all the homes they sale. So they’re full time sales and full time project manager of the building process. This a a big part of the problem, especially when no one covers for them when they’re on vacation or out of the office. My husband had to literally babysit the entire process the last three months because it just wasn’t a priority to anyone to get it done when it was suppose to be done. Even then our closing date had to be pushed back twice. If it hadn’t of been for my husband, we wouldn’t have closed when we did and our locked in rate would have expired, costing us $500 to extend it. Doesn’t sound like much except we had already been told after the fact that running electric to the house was going to cost us $11,000 more than they listed on our contract! This because they failed to schedule with the electric company when needed to have it done by them. I could go on and on, but it would just take too long. I will say this, after almost four weeks in our new home we are still living with an overwhelming stench that started about a week after we moved in. It smells like something died and is rotting somewhere at one end of the house. We’ve tried asking them to come out and take care of it, but as usual, we have to wait for them to get around to it. It’s been two weeks since we told them and the stench just gets stronger. I can hardly stand being in the house now, it’s so bad. At what point do we call someone ourselves and send Clayton the bill? We already had to replace the front door knob because after struggling to turn the knob the first two days we were in the house, it came off in our hands! Just the knob itself. Couldn’t hardly get the door open after that without it just coming off. Again, I could go on; but I think this is enough. I really wanted to be one of the many others that had a wonderful experience, but it just wasn’t the case for us. To say it has been one of the most infuriatingly frustrating experiences would be putting it mildly. They literally just don’t care. My husband has a full time job and he had to add another one just by having to manage their process for them the last two months. I just want them to get out here and fix this house, get rid of whatever is rotting in who knows where and make everything right, so we can be done with ever having to deal with them again.Sincerely,Disappointed in AZ

It has been the most frustrating experience working with this company. They sell you on this amazing customer service but it seems that once they get your money they stop caring. I have had warranty issues and now that I only have 2 months left I feel like they are dragging their feet on every issue! I have had no hot water heater for almost a week and a half even though I was told it was an “emergency” since it was leaking. It took me sending an email to some higher up people to even get a call with a status. Biggest regret was working with this company. I would not recommend them to ANYONE.

Not happy with my experience. At first, it sounded really awesome. They sounded very honest, and very sincere. I was told they could have a Home competed in 8 weeks. We started the process in May. We were told after the MLD was completed in July, that it would take 8 weeks. House was delivered by September 29. They said 30-45 days after home is delivered we would close. 30-45 days later, no emails no phone calls. So I call them, once again. They push it back another month. Don’t hear anything again for a little while, then I get a call saying they ‘accidentally started a stem wall’, I was suppose to have skirting done. They said they would give me the stem wall for 4K instead of 9K when what they really meant was that they needed 4K more to do the stem wall that they started on by ‘accident’. Here’s the flip side to the stem wall- earlier in the process I asked how much to ground set it, and it would have costed another 6k, and then they wanted to charge me for another appraisal, so I went ahead and said never mind let’s just do the skirting. WEELL guess what, they still got my money, without a ground set home. 🙄 so grateful for the stem wall, only wish they would have ‘accidentally’ ground set it too.So let’s go back to picking out colors for the home- my mom went in there with me and wanted to upgrade the carpet, they told us there was no need because the carpet padding is already upgraded.. well guess what AGAIN, my carpet doesn’t look upgraded at all and the pad is cheap padding. So let’s get to my closing date.. WAIT they still don’t have one. I was suppose to close today, well, I call them asking and they tell me now it won’t be until Monday because pinal county told them yesterday that they can’t do their inspection until Monday. Why Didn’t they tell me yesterday when they found out? Why did I hear about that the day that I’m suppose to close? So here we are, already paid for a uhaul, already packed everything but the bed, no extra clothes, no food, and mind you I have a 2 and half year old.Every form they’ve asked for, I’ve given right away, I’ve done everything I can to help them move a long in the process so they’re not waiting on me, and here I am waiting for 6 months now for my home to be completed. They’re extremely wishy washy, they can never give you an answer, they don’t call you back, they don’t even email you back unless youhassle them, and they do everything they can to make the price of you home go up as much as you can get a loan for.

Our closing dated was pushed out by more than 2 months and now here we are in our home 5 months later and we still have unfinished issues in our home. Waleed and his staff give the excuse that they are doing so well and selling so many homes that they cannot keep up, yet they have ONE man to do the follow up repairs and warranty work. This has been a horrible buying experience!!! When we first took possession of the home I asked Waleed to come and see our home and the many problems in it. I have bought several new construction homes and this was mind blowing to me. He told me he wold be happy to, but he was too busy to schedule a visit. I visited Clayton and I did not have the experience that Richard received. I was not in the market for a home right at this moment, but wanted to view options and get an idea of what is out there. After viewing only one home, the man had asked when are we thinking of buying. After hearing our response, he said they generally only show 1 home UNLESS youre looking to purchase soon. I can understand that he possibly thinks we are wasting his time, but having purchased a home from that lot under a different company, I could say we werent. After the cold response we recieved, we felt horrible and probably thought it wasnt a good idea. We went down the street to view and we felt valued and when we do decide its time to purchase, we will not return here. This type of salesmanship is horrible. I really hope Dan will receive a better idea on how to treat customers and receive a training on customer service. It really puts a negative effect on a customer returning.

First, we wanted a particular model and they kept telling us they couldnt find land in our price range, but I kept finding land and they never really followed through. We finally settled on a different model already established on land and told it was like a model they had on their lot, a 4 bed 2 bath. They would not let us see the home at all until we closed. We asked several times to see it but they wouldnt let us. We finally signed papers and did the Walk thru. It then was missing a bedroom just big open space. We fought like heck to get our house the way it was, and they finally did a room (had to be done twice). It was so hard to like our home because of this. 6 months later we are still trying to get items fixed that we found in the initial Walk thru and keep getting the run around. We have been in constant communication with them and we still cant get 2 major things fixed. Its been nothing but issues with Clayton Homes.
