Not even from this area, I looked up reviews on local garages to fix a dangerous suspension problem and A/C that just tanked in the hottest part of the year while visiting Nashville. After so many losses this last year, we didnt have much to work with and certainly couldnt buy another. We surprisingly found this absolute gem of a family business (which already had good reviews), and could not be more pleased with the total affirmation that there are decent, honest, hardworking, professional human beings very much still HERE and so ready to take care of their customers in such an amazing way. Automotive businesses by their nature, cant help sometimes but be short on explanations and long on the bills. With E&B, this is NOT the case. They went over and above to quickly source the parts we needed from the most reasonable local providers, and kept us apprised of their progress and clearly worked overtime to help get us safely back on the road, with such patient and professional details of exactly what they were doing. Big car repairs can be a scary and expensive, none of which were typically prepared for, but at the end of the day, these folks take care of you like FAMILY, keep you 100% in the loop with language you can understand, and dont charge any more than absolutely necessary to get the job done. With a smile and a wave that will make you want to come back. This business is a testament to what Tennessee was, and still is at the heart. To Rachel and the crew at Ewing & Bass, thank you doesnt quite cover it. If I lived closer I would have brought back banana pudding. Yall are absolutely the BEST.

I’m not much on leaving reviews, in fact I had to setup an account to write this one, that’s how happy I was with my experience. Excellent customer service, very professional and helpful. They went above and beyond to help me out when I was in a pinch. If I did not live 6.5 hours away I would take all of my vehicles here. 10/10 recommend.

My wife and I were moving from western Canada to Louisiana and both of our vehicles broke down upon arriving in Nashville. We had nobody to help us and now where to store our belongings. My wife and I had never been so vulnerable before. The team @ Bass Ewing dropped everything to help us get out of our predicament and did so at a fair price. They were just trust worthy, I guess that is why they have been in business for so long.

They have been doing great work for many, many years. All my experiences with them have been A+, whether it was getting major engine and transmission work done or getting an expert opinion on something smaller. Couldn’t recommend any higher.

Broke down in transit to Texas. I called and the woman I spoke with sent me to another shop so I could get my truck repaired faster. Highly recommend this shop. Totally professional and courteous.

I recommend Bass Ewing Garage. They were excellent and honest.I am not a caucasian and a stranger, but they kindly explained about the situation and fixed my car at a reasonable price. My car had a problem with a strong shake, especially when I push the brake pedal. They found fore and rear brakes were worn and axles below my car were wrong. I asked them the way to save my money, and they let me know that I didnt have to fix rear brakes now. They also found some inexpensive parts.The total price was reasonable when I asked my friend working in auto company. Of course the problem with my car was fixed.

Great customer service! Dropped it off for them to look at my transmission. Took a couple of days to look at it. Didn’t find anything wrong after checking/scanning and driving it at different times to see what it was doing. Didn’t charge me for their time. Which I’ve never heard of. So would definitely return again next time I need something done.

Our car started to act up around 10am, we called Rachel and she said they could look at it after dinner break (1pm) but we had it there at 11am. They accessed the issue after taking it for a test drive right away, which was before the time estimated...as we were only in town a short window and needed to be at the airport by 5 pm, with this being our daughters transportation and we were only visiting from MN (suitcases in the trunk even)..I think they even missed there lunch break to find the correct part and get it fixed for us. We got a call at 3pm it was finished and ready to be picked up. Rachel was so nice and understood our need for QUICK service and I feel they did go out of there way for us. Very good customer service and the problem was fixed. We have found a new car shop :)

I was sure my starter was out on my wifes Acura MDX and the tow truck driver double checked it. They took a closer look and it only needed a battery. The battery was a little pricier than Im used to but the labor was extremely reasonable and I saved a ton not needing the starter. I feel like a lot of shops in town would have gone with the obvious and charged me a bundle. I definitely trust them to fix what I cant.

I had a mass airflow and cam position sensor problem and they did a great job. Rachel was very nice, informative, and kept me updated daily. Just an all round pleasant experience. Thank you guys.

SO HONEST. Was recommended to them from my usual guys since they were booked solid and couldnt see me for a week or two. I had gotten my oil changed at Valvoline and the attendant told me I had a slight transmission leak - Ewing looked into it and told me its so slight (the joint is just damp - not even dripping) that they dont need to do anything at this point. If it starts actually leaking (which it may never), I can bring it in, but no need to spend $3-$4k when its not necessary. They could have easily taken me for thousands of dollars and chose not to. Customer for life right here.

A neighbor recommended Ewing Bass and I have been pleased. I have an older car which seems to have issues frequently. I have taken it to Ewing Bass on more than one occasion and feel they have done good work at a fair price. Today my taillights would not go off so I called Rachel, who is always very friendly and accommodating, and she told me to bring it over. Within 30 minutes they called and said a switch had broken off which they had fixed and it was ready to go. They did not charge me. How often does that happen?

This is the most trustworthy and helpful shop Ive ever been to. I seem to constantly break down and Ewing Bass is the only place I like to go in Nashville. They almost always get it done either the day you bring it in or the next day. Rachel will always call you and explain whats going on with your vehicle so you dont feel like youre paying for made up problems or being ripped off. Honest and helpful, yes Ive found a dependable garage. I took a newly purchased used Honda there because I thought there might be a transmission issue. They test drove it and then gave me detailed information of what was going on and even called using their contact to get me to the Honda dealership immediately without an appointment. I offered to pay them for taking the time to determine the problem but they would not let me pay. Now thats honest, caring service. I didnt get the mechanics name but he is some kind of car whisperer and Rachael is fantastic. Great shop!

Ive been taking my cars to Ewing Bass for several years now, and heres why. First they do excellent work. Second, they charge a fair price. But most important, I TRUST them to do the right thing, big job or small. How many people can say that about the mechanic they take their cars to? - BH

Paid $800 for a fuel pump change...I suggest price shopping..Was charged $215 for the pump that cost less than $130..Manager couldnt produce my warranty info..COULDNT EVEN PROVIDE THE BRAND NAME!! (on the pump) SUSPICIOUS!!Now my car makes a noise that it DID NOT BEFORE!! .. I guess Ill have to find out what that is.SEEMS LIKE A GETEM TO COME BACK SHCEME!!This is a sure sign to me that they nickel and dime people.The girl at the front was nice.. I guessWILL NOT BE BACKWOULD NOT RECOMMEND

This is a small, family-owned business, and they arent thinking of a thing but to give you the best service you could ask for. They dont overcharge and they are so patient with people like me who dont understand cars. They explained what parts I needed and why, what they do, how much they are. The speed of the service was excellent and the employees are very friendly. Couldnt wish for better.

There is a reason this garage has been there since the 50s. I took my car in today because my AC was blowing hot. They accessed the issue and quickly fixed it for a very fair rate. I will be taking my vehicles here in the future for all of the work I need.

You could not ask for better customer service! ! I have been so impressed with my 2 experiences with this garage. THey are extremely kind and efficient. Rachel at the front desk is very curtious and soooo helpful. You promptly receive call backs and updates about your vehicle. They include you in every process they can. They are respectful and I would highly recommend their services, especially transmission work.

I had a bad experience with this garage and I want to state my opinion. I am glad to be able to finally be able to express my dismay. Several years ago, I took my Toyota Landcruiser to Ewing Bass to have a very expensive engine re-build done. The reason we used this garage is that one of their mechanics (Tim) there supposedly specialized in working on vintage Landcruisers. The repair took quite awhile to complete, but since it is a specialized vehicle we were patient. When we got the truck back home it was pouring oil out of the rear main seal. However the mechanic that worked on it took a extended leave of absence the very night we picked up the vehicle. Since the mechanic was gone already we were forced to have to wait for the mechanic to get back from Texas. When we finally were able to take the truck back and showed the owner the problem he shifted the blame to us saying that we had damaged in the time that the mechanic was gone. (NOTE... it was leaking by the time we got it home which is about 6 miles from our house) That was simply not true. Anyone who knows a bit about Landcruisers will tell when you mount the tranny back to the engine if its not done correctly the seal will not take. Its a common mishap when making this type of repair. None the less the owner basically told us to take a hike he was not going to stand behind the work done in his garage. He hid behind the extenuating circumstances, since they gave him a convenient way out. So we were forced just to eat the repair and take it to another shop and pay for the repair all over again. The new shop made the proper repairs and the truck is still in use to this day. I know to someone reading this it may seem trivial to bring this up years later, all I can say to that is... if you spend thousands of dollars on a repair and get burned the sting stays with you.
