John was recommended to me as a reliable bike shop in Uptown where my daughter is attending the University. He has answered the phone promptly and was willing to accept a drop shipment so I didn’t have to bring a bike from out of state. We met John last week and although his shop was a little hard to find he was pleasant and helpful. He will be our go to bike shop for ourselves and referrals.
Well I will never even attempt to have a flat repaired by him after reading these reviews this guy apparently always is backed up until Tuesday. And he wont even look at simple flat tire fix. Its a 10-15 minute job that makes quick 10 bucks of labor. But I guess I better never trust this mans with my bike.
Theres a lot to be said about customer service. When one calls asking about inventory, theyre trying to save their time, and the time of the employees of the establishment they are calling. When I asked whether or not they had a specific part, which took a total of 15 seconds of this womens day, she answered Hell no, in an offended tone. Youre better off ordering your parts off of Amazon than dealing with complex personalities that consider their abrasiveness quirky.
I’m a *three times* returning customer and I dropped off my bike and then they never called me. When I went in they said they’d sold it! The guy said his wife would call me to sort it out - I thought maybe they could sell me another bike at a decent rate to sort it out. Instead she called and just yelled at me! Right off the bat she unleashed all this aggression. It was weird and upsetting. Said something incomprehensible about how I should be ashamed for not having children. It was outrageous, unhinged and nasty. Also, I want my bike back!
My bike is a custom-built 29er, rolling with a Shimano Alfine 11-speed internal hub, Gates CDX carbon belt drive, and Shimano DI-2 electronic shifter. John recently upgraded the tires to 29 x 2.35 Schwalbe Big Apple balloon tires and installed a new drive belt during a tuneup & safety check. He also replaced a faulty DI-2 shifter cable. Previously, John rebuilt the flooded and corroded Shimano Nexus 8-speed hub on my backup ride.John is the only bicycle mechanic in NOLA that I trust with my bikes. His prices are also very reasonable IMHO, especially considering the skill sets, knowledge, and experience required to deal with bleeding-edge technology.
Without going into a ton of detail, just do yourself a massive favor and avoid this place. Until the owner decides to shoot people straight and get his act together, if you decide to leave your bike with him, you will end up pulling your hair out. He continuously misses deadlines and makes excuses that dont make any sense. What bike shop takes a bike and doesnt even get a phone number? Youre stuck banging on the window hoping hell mosey on out of his back room.
Super easy, did a great job fixing up and restoring some bikes that had been collecting dust in the garage for 20 years
I used to live in New Orleans and this was my go to spot for anything I needed for my BMX bike. Everyone was always super helpful and I miss this place. Top Notch.
A couple days back I brought my bike with a flat tire to this location. I didnt have any of my damn tools so NOBS took it in ( hes slammed so it took him a few days).I got it back GOOD AS NEW. No problems. Good price. The owner is grinding out as best he can during this whole pandemic fiasco! Little patience never hurts. When it came to the payment it was touch free! Haha. Lets hang in there people! We got this! Thanks again NOBS! Yall are the real MVPs!- LV
This is an excellent bike shop. they have very reasonable prices for their services and do an excellent job on repairs. the staff is knowledgeable and takes the time to explain what they are doing. the owner, john, fixed my belt drive when other shops wouldnt touch it. now it rides beautifully! if you want quality parts and work at a reasonable price, i recommend NOBS. :)
N.O.B.S. is the ONLY place i go to fix my bike. For 20 years they have been serving up quality service. Great conversation and customer service. A creative man who really cares about the community. Make this your only stop to repair your noble steed.
Well-priced, well executed, speedy repairs. Also expertly packed and shipped a bike cross country for us. Knowledgeable, fair and friendly.
This place is not worth the prices. I went in for a tube repair and asked if they could tighten my brakes. I did not want a full bike tune-up. He avoided telling me how much it would cost, and finally told me around 70 bucks after I pressed. I agreed because I was in a pinch. When I came back, they had done the tune-up that I did not want (which is why the quote was so high). I understand tune-ups are expensive, but I was clear I did not want one. The man was not approachable, and was 100% trying to scam me for as much as possible. I will never go back to this place.
I’ve bought skateboards and had bicycle work here for 14 years and never had a defective product. The prices are relatively inexpensive, too.
Dont go there. They are very dishonest. They ordered a kids bike for my daughter to the store for $149. But they said the one we want was out of stock so they ordered another one, claiming it was worth the same. Later we found out the new bike was only worth $89. My husband contacted them and they said they would write him a check. But when my husband went to pick up the check, they claimed its a better price already because the price included the shipping and assembling fee (which they would not have charged on the more valuable bike). They refused to give him a check. My husband said I would not come back and they just said whatever!!!! If you order a bike through this store make sure you get what you pay for.
John from Nobs is fantastic. Not only made sure I had a bike that fit my husband but gave a good map and easy directions to Mississippi River Trail and Audubon Park. Fun day good choice for renting bike
I just went to this bike shop expecting to get a slightly over-priced rusty, crappy, horrible looking bike. Instead, I walked out with an amazing bike that had all new wheels and breaks with a basket-holder on it for less than half of what I was expecting to pay for it. The guy was really friendly, and I will definitely go back for any and all bike problems that I have. Highly recommended. The only con is that they have very few bikes for sale, but theres apparently a high turnover, so if you dont find what you want, just go back in a week or so.
Fast, affordable service from a knowledgeable staff. A pretty intensive tune-up took just three days; the shop is small, so they need to turnover their jobs quick. The guys dont try to up-sell you on everything, so their size doesnt matter: a elatively small selection of reasonably priced, high-quality bikes and accessories is all theyre going to push on you anyway. New bikes for sale starting at $275, and theyre adding some used bikes to their inventory. Let them help you find what you need, and give you pointers.
Coming here for years, Jon the owner, has always provided me with the above, and the beyond of customer service. Highly recommended bike mechanic, master skills, and fresh new & used bikes.
So i came in today looking for a lock&basket for my new2me bike. while the bike is going to hopefully get traded for something better suited to me, i now love nobs! John was great, friendly and fair in his pricing!he even walked me out the door of the shop! If im ever on that side of town and need an emergency bike repair i am definitely heading here!
After visiting three bike shops in New Orleans I came upon NOBS. I had a bike and bike seat problem. John was extremely helpful with me over the course of a week when I had questions about the bike seat and accessories. He was patient and remembered my name. I only go to his shop now and so should you!
Crashed and screwed up my front fork. Fixed quickly, good price, great customer service.
Spent $107 only to come back home and have to youtube how to put the brake cable back thru the handle bar after it slipped out. And buy a tool to fix the the seat height that he put at 6 person when Im 53. Thanks for the tune up! Yey.
Cool neighborhood shop, not for the pretentious. Service was excellent.
I went to this shop to get a bike the day I moved here. Their inventory was very limited and the guy was really rude. I really dont recommend. Bikes are pretty cheap there though. The guy seemed to know his stuff, but he was rude and unpleasant to be around. Wont be returning. John is very condescending and rude, but luckily GNO Cyclery (a better bike store) is right near by, or you could go to Mike the Bike Guy instead cause hes nice
Amazing buying experience, John is the only guy I would go to to get a bike or tune up.
My bike had a couple issues and Mick was great and fixed it down pat!
Came in to ask about a bike repair and the gentleman working was very rude and aggresive. Despite his attitue he did have a very cute puppy but not cute enough to give him my business. Wont be back, the guys over at Gno cyclery were nice helpful and reasonably priced.
AWESOME dude whent in there needing a cruiser to make an MB and didint have enough for the bike and he came down a little for me and really cheap prices also high performance bikes and parts aswell as used ones cool dude go check him out...............also NOLAGIRLTOO is obviously a racist b!#$h who is she to know what someone else has in there pocket
Terrific service and fast too.
Best bike shop in the city.
Nice, friendly and good service
Old school customer service from a gentleman craftsman. I drive WAY out of my way to do business here.
