I asked 2 female employees for the time as I was walking past soup area toward clearance section. Walked back same direction to see a friend and slipped on spilled soup in the same exact spot I just saw the two women chatting! Smh Usually I like this store, prepared food is great and meats are fresh as well as bakery items and produce, but this particular visit was so so....Young male cashier was very blah too...needs a customer service training session.

Everything I needed was literally a grab on my path in...At check out, I let a woman go ahead of me so she could get back to her break. Then another quickly passed by me. When I got up, the gentleman behind me, let me use his card and I felt like I won the lottery. Thank you dear human. #payitforward

Were in the area camping for the weekend and stopped in for some groceries. The store was very busy and the people were friendly. The deli counter was a busy place and glad they do the number system to keep track. For a busy store it was very clean and the shelves were stocked.

Normally I reserve reviews for smaller companies than this but recently I had 2 positive encounters that I thought was worth mentioning here.First is that on Sunday 6/20/2021, I was looking for popcorn so that I could spend movie night with my boys like we usually do. Walmart nextdoor had not stocked it yet and I went to this Big Y location to grab some. I did not know the store hours until I got to the door and it was 2 minutes past closing time. I didnt get the name of the guy that was locking the door unfortuantely but he asked me what I was getting then encouraged me to go and grab it real quick despite the store closing. The closing Team was the MVP that night.The second event was that the beef bones in the meat department always go so fast. So I called on monday 6/21, they offered to put some aside for me in the morning and they were waiting for me the next day. Happy to have great people in my local grocery store.

Seafood and butcher shop are excellent. Product selection is great and the store is clean. Staff is always pleasant and helpful. Love the local food choices.

I ordered an Italian fruit cake for a graduation. When we sliced into it there was NO fruit inside!!!!! Very disappointed!!!!!

I have some friends in the area. I stopped in some time ago to buy some groceries and had a very delightful and helpful guy named Phillip D. help me in the meat department. I was very disappointed he was not there on my next visit.

I do like the quality of Big Y supermarket overall. I do wish they would get a better selection of no sugar added versions of common products for people, like me, on special diets or for diabetics that cant consume nutrasweet products especially. Products containing monkfruit, stevia, allulose, erythritol sweeteners would be preferred to artificial sweeteners.Example: I love eating Lilys No Sugar Chocolate Chips, but Big Y only carries the dark chocolate chips, and not the more popular milk chocolate & semi sweet variety.I think Big Y used to provide these other varieties, but stopped some time ago...sad.

The store is kept clean and the produce section always seems to be amazing. I trust the meat section here and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable about the store layout if you have trouble finding something. I also love the pharmacy here as I can get my families medications and pets filled by an organized staff.

They advertise a great bargain for a product they dont have. Then they dont even put up a sign saying they dont have the product in this store. Asking clerks at Big Y will not end well.

I ordered chicken wings from here via door dash and the wings werent completely cooked. I also called about seeing about compensation and i never got a call back. I had to throw the wings out.

Went at 7:30am to permit some restocking of produce and fish market (sometimes empty at 7:00 opening time). Very clean store and friendly staff. They had hand sanitizer but no pump hand soap, large paper plates, lysol, disinfectant wipes. Recommended this store.

The meats and veggies sold are fresh. I am confident that I am purchasing good food. The checkout people are so courteous. Those young people make checkout pleasant for us older people who cant lift or move well. BIG Y trains them well. They are little angels.

I am from Maine and was down in Norwich with my two year old visiting my husband who is down there for work. We needed some groceries and my husband suggested this place so I took his rewards card, our daughter, and headed out.I was instantly impressed when I walked into the store by the layout, cleanliness, and quality of the produce!Some of the sale prices didnt really seem like much of a sale, but some were truly fantastic! (In fairness though, I am not familiar with Connecticut pricing so it could just be a price difference due to being a different state so I didnt think much of it!).The staff however was the BEST part! The one we saw stocking shelves greeted us with a wonderful smile, the gentleman that cashed us out was SO great with my daughter and just a real joy to deal with (especially after a long car ride and an afternoon with a napless two year old), and the lady that helped bagged us was just as great with my daughter and started to talk with me about her young daughter as well. I dont think I have EVER had such friendly service as at a store and it was not only fantastic, but actually turned my whole mood/day around and reinvigorated me for the rest of the evening ahead with my napless toddler and I could not be more grateful! :)Excellent shopping experience all around and HIGHLY recommend! :)

Love the selection here, the fresh juice is fantastic, & loads of healthier choice beverages. Employees are always friendly & the place is never packed. One of my regular haunts....now I just need to try some of their fresh food and do a follow up.

We bought the fishermans platter, it was beautiful. The best seafood. If you want the experience, go out, but for taste, you cant beat them! I was so shocked about having the best dinner from a grocery store!

This store has a very good variety of product choices. It is very clean and shelves are neat. Here is the major drawback prices are at the very top if spectrum. Items on sale for the most part are on par with regular pricing at competition. They do have some buy 1 get 2 sales that are very good. If you are selective you might be fine!

I will stick with my Plainfield big y. Norwich poorly stocked, had to go to plainfield to get the majority of what i had on weekly list. Plainfield is more world class than norwich and i told them that.

Very disappointed with store service. Went in Norwich store for a sale recently. Buy one Get 2 free on ribs. They were out. No big deal, they gladly gave me a rain check. I have now been in the store twice since then (now 3 weeks later) and no one was able to tell me any idea of when they might be coming in. I just got off the phone with the butcher, (as I was told to check in on Thursdays and Saturdays when shipments come in.) The woman who answered the phone was unable to tell me when they would come in, IF they would come in, and had no clue if any other stores had them or not. How is no one aware at this point if this is a distributor problem or not? Their best substitution is a brand that not only is unfavorable in taste, but the size is half the amount of that that was listed on sale AND costs more money. I stopped shopping at Big Y years ago because of the same issues. I finally had been lured in with their dining-in ribs sale. Very disappointing to see they still have the same issues and nothing has been worked on. So much for growth! I doubt I will be back if someone doesnt figure out this rib mess quickly.

Big Y is known as a World Class Market and this may prove true in some areas of the store. Areas such as their sea food section and their meat and produce section. However, shelf items like can goods, vegetables, snacks, ice cream, detergents, toiletries and more can be found for less at other supermarkets.Its the same detergent, same can foods, same juice, same butter, same milk, eggs and bacon. Even the cold cuts. My point is, you would spend more if you totally did your complete grocery shopping at Big Y than you would if you worked your weekly sales flyers from other supermarkets and took advantage of coupons.

Store has fish market, bakery, and nice looking produce. This store is the only one I have found in this area that carries a Canadian Meat Pie (ground pork with a double crust). The store is clean and the staff is cheerful.

Their groceries our little high in price. I do not do my weekly shopping here ever. Every once in awhile if they have a good deal on something I will stop in and get it. Big Y has excellent prepared foods such as Pizza, grinders, sushi, chicken wings and much much more

I love this Big Y. We always get our pizza here because its honestly better than the mediocre cardboard being served in the nearby area. The sushi and clam chowder are always delicious as well!

This is the high-end market in the area. Using their money-saving card means some significant savings off of the otherwise pricey items. Big Y has a broad inventory with interesting selections not easily located elsewhere. Excellent fish, meat and deli sections. The bakery makes thoughtful and, again, unique Euro-centric products. Staff obviously likes one another, the store itself and their customers. This is a happy place in mood and I find nearly everything I want each time, while also being exposed to new items to consider. Con: prices. Pros: everything else.

I have a silver medal card. Went in response to circular ad about $5.99 Porterhouse. Found T Bones labeled as Porterhouse. Theres a difference. Ive had Porterhouse steaks at Keans, Peter Lugers, and Josephs Steakhouses. Some of the best in this part of the world. Shame on BIG Y Norwich meat department. Fake steaks,!

They have a commercial they run talking about aggressive cleaning they have implemented during the Wuhan virus. The only thing theyve done different is spraying sanitizer on the shopping carts. They havent changed any of the cleaning procedures at all. If they lie about this, I can only imagine everything else they lie about!

The store is clean and well lit. The staff is friendly and helpful. I really like their store pizza and fresh sushi. You will need to sign up for a store card for the best deals, it is easy though. Just watch out on the sales price if it is a regular sale or if you need a gold coin to get that price. Always click on the slot machine on the monitor at checkout, you might win a gold coin. I wish the gold coins loaded onto your card instead of physical coins. I often forget mine.

Great grocery store. Always clean. Produce is the best. Bakery is phanominal. Extensive beer & wine cooler selections. Cashiers are always curtious. Prices are on the high end. Big Y is the best for quality.

The women at the seafood counter are always rude and never willing to help. I always feel like a nuisance asking them for assistance. Most of the time I go out of my way to Groton or Plainfield when purchasing fish.
