If I could give zero stars I would. We went in for burger and fries but they said kitchen closed down 3 months ago we ran over to tuckers to eat first then came back here which was a huge mistake!!7.99 not including tax for a ice cream soda that was served in a plastic cup with no lid, no whip cream, no cherry and a scoop of ice cream and nothing more then soda water. We went to this place because the ice cream looked amazing in pictures. We thought we were going to get the big tall ice cream soda glass that showed whip cream and cherry on top like all ice cream sodas are suppose to be made. It was awful and we dumped 18.00 in the trash pretty much.
This place is a gem. Old school ice cream parlor. The restaurant was not cooking due to employee shortage, but the ice cream was great and the service top notch!
Seems like the ice cream recipe is the original from 1910 with a conscious decision not to improve. Iced Milk is a more accurate description of the offerings. Added to shakes, sodas, and other blended drinks, this contributes to a watery end product. A scoop alone, or a sundae is a watery mess. Not sure what the draw is. Nothing for those who don’t consume milk products- another willful decision to stubbornly exist in another era.
Save your money. The ice cream was freezer burnt and about the same grade as your average grocery store brand. Interior was very cool, hope this gets turned into something nice.
Amazing atmosphere and ice cream and etc is soooo good but has to be for the price, but you cant blame them with the prices.
Took my 4 year old here after her mother was taken to the ER. The service was fantastic and the woman working was wonderful with my daughter. They helped make a hard day a little better.
The servers were so sweet. I brought my grandson in as they were closing. We talked about his OKC experience. Since he loves root beer floats they made him one and said it was on the house and made him feel very special with a Kaiser’s hat❣️
Great lil place with great homemade ice cream. Strongly recommend the strawberry shortcake sunday.
This place... If you havent been here yet you need to get here! I grew up with this space being Kaisers Ice Cream, watched it close and be empty only to reopen years later (my son actually worked here then!), Only to watch it close again. It is now the Grateful Bean and it is AMAZING. This is one of the best hamburgers I have ever had, hands down. The waitstaff is friendly and fast. The burger was juicy and just the right size. And those wedge fries are BAKED! I will definitely be back.
It use to be my favorite place to eat corn beef ruben it was the best.everything is fresh homemade daily and I love that fact. Ice cream is homemade too i am sad because the kitchen is closing 😥
My husband and I walk in with a hello from two of the staff members. “Very friendly” all of the tables needed cleaning, I went to another staff member to ask for a wet cloth so that “I”could wipe our table off, her response to me was “ I am only one person”. If we hadn’t have already ordered, we would have left. $32.00 for two strawberry shortcakes, everyone should be friendly.
Wife and grandkids had a great time and “the best sundaes and shakes we’ve ever had” according to my wife and grandson. Can’t wait for our next trip to Kaiser’s!
We ate here today for the first time. It was a great quiet little lunch spot. The food was very good! Staff was friendly. My friend works for a public utility company and recently had a job there. He said after seeing how CLEAN the kitchen and whole place was, he wanted to try it. Not ALL restaurants are so spotless.
Banna split was so good it was BUSSIN BUSSIN
I tried the homemade salted caramel and it was absolutely delicious!! My friend tried the Irish Cream AMD he loved it... I did too. They were both delicious. Our servers name was Kim. She was very sweet and friendly. She told us about the history of the shop and some of the cool things they offer seasonally. I will definitely be going back soon... next time Ill wait till its a little warmer 😉 or I will wear a sweater lol cant wait to go back!!
Ice cream is wonderful. Im not sure it really is a Kaiser brand. I went to the original store over 40 years ago. Parking is a real problem. Dont forget to play the oldies juke box....free!!
Great place. Try any of the sundaes or shakes. You will remember it because they are that good.
Yesterday was a awesome day! Had French Chocolate and sprinkles icecream while my Boyfriend had peaches and cream and sprinkles... both flavors were very yummy
Great homemade ice cream. Love the retro feel of the place
The interior is fabulous. Step back into 1910. They also have a nice cup of coffee with free refills.
Fun soda shop. Prices on facebook are wrong but the experience was worth the difference.
This is some of the best ice cream in Oklahoma City. However, the kitchen can move extremely slow with hot food orders and makes mistakes frequently. So, I would stick to the frozen treats, unless you dont mind waiting 20 minutes for a cheeseburger with no cheese.
Great atmosphere and friendly staff! I just wish there were more flavors available when I visited.
Very disappointing. I ordered a strawberry shortcake with Nutella ice cream. The ice cream was freezer burned and the shortcake tasted like lemon pound cake. (Had poppy seeds and all.)
A great place to enjoy ice cream.
They have the BEST shakes/malts. They are a bit pricey though ($6.50 for a Regular Chocolate Malt (about 16 oz. Cup)). The staff is very attentive and customer conscious while practicing Social distancing. I will definitely be back...
***** Listen When I Tell You It’s not Worth it******* First the price every burger is over $9 if you want to add cheese or anything it’s extra the bacon is Turkey bacon. So for 2 people not including drinks is almost $30. You will wait 20mins to get your food and when I tell you that it taste the same as your middle school or hospital burger. It’s not 100% real beef it’s a process patty the cheap ones that make you wonder what’s in it and the bun is clearly below avg. you will be so let down when it’s delivered to your table. But don’t worry it get worst after you take your first bite you will want to send it back but feel bad because the owner and staff are so nice. But out of all the burgers I have tried across the world I have to say this might be one of the worst. I would eat 2 day old McDonalds. There is one bright spot the milk shakes are amazing
Best chocolate malt ever. The cherry coke was awesome also.
You should be fine if you’re getting ice cream or a sundae, but do not get a malt. Until today I’d never met a malt I couldn’t finish, but the malt powder tasted unlike any I’ve ever had before. The best way I can think to describe it is chemical and metallic with an overpowering aftertaste that makes you shudder.
Ive heard a lot of good things about th÷ ice cream. The banana wasnt very good. Both my husband and I ordered it, and neither of us liked it. Also, only one person working on a Saturday night.
Great service and ice cream
Unsanitary practices during a pandemic are unacceptable. The lady working accepted cash with a pair of gloves on, and then continued to make ice cream with the same pair of gloves, increasing the risk of cross contamination. I just left.
Shakes were great... But there burgers werent so good... The salmon burger was not good...
A little pricey bit goo f.
We loved the food and ice cream. The service was great. Very friendly and safe.
Usually had no complaints but service was slow and the rootbeer float just was warm rootbeer and by the time i got it a warm single ice cream ball.
I’m writing this review on behalf of my 7 year old son. This is his favorite place! The retro decor and jukebox definitely make it a unique spot. The staff is always kind and my son always looks forward to the homemade ice cream!
Didnt like it, and to expensive
They have the best ice cream around.
Great old school Ice cream parlor. The floor the counter and ceiling are 102 years old. Home made Ice cream and whip cream. They have food as well, but we just had ice cream. Great even on a cold winter day!!! A touch pricey, but it an experience.
My family and I tried out Kaisers for the first time on Saturday and we loved it! We went there for dessert and I must say the Chocolate Nirvana was amazing! It is definitely enough for 2 (or 3?) people to share. Also, my daughter had a single dip of their homemade strawberry/blueberry ice cream and she really enjoyed it as well.Aside from the ice cream the old ice cream parlor ambiance really adds to the whole experience!
Great ice cream
The customer service was Great the lady was nice and our shakes and ice cream was good.
I would say this place is great jist had the Buffalo Burger and it was super good price is a little over the top but its worth it.Even the drinks taste different in the best way possible.Highly recommend this place.
Great homemade ice cream, floats & sorbets & a wonderful turn if the century building. Still has the original counter. The stained glass is a bit more modern, but still beautiful! Service was great. Will definitely come here again, & again,...& again!!!
For over 20 years, this has been one of my favorite spots in OKC. Its like walking into a time capsule. Still make real cream sodas that are amazing! I went out on a limb and go the Mediterranean sampler which was delicious and more than I could finish. Definitely worth a try!
Has definitely changed for the better over the years. Love their shakes. Price for normal menue is a little high but not too bad. staff is super nice too
This business is legitimately a class act! We were in from out of town looking for a place to celebrate our daughters birthday. The owner went over and above to make it a very special, and memorable experience for all. Cant say enough about the wonderful service, the homemade ice cream, and great food! Well be going back again tomorrow!!
Ice cream was all right. Nachos are falsely advertised. The came on regular corn chips not blue corn. We added corn beef to them but it was just plain with melted cheese. No option to add sour cream. Ordered to go they left out slice jalapenos. Side salad was ok. Would have been a lot better with homemade ranch and not bottled.
The employees present were gracious, friendly, courteous and helpful. I encourage everyone to eat at Kaisers as the food is good and service very good!
So my son is autistic and very demanding sometimes with no boundaries :) The ladies here were awesome with my son ! It is wonderful to see the patience in people towards special needs people. I highly recommend this place for its great tasting old fashioned ice cream and scenery. And its exceptional service!
I ordered a Reuben sandwich. The top of the bread was a crispy rye sourdough and delicious, but the bottom of it was soggy. The corned beef was good, but the sauerkraut had been fried. I did not like it. The thousand island dressing for it was bland, not tangy and just awful. I used mustard. The potato salad was like most potato salads out of a plastic carton. Needless to say, I was disappointed.
I am so excited that Kaisers Ice Cream has gone back to a more original look. We visited one time when it was the Grateful Bean, which was not the right fit. Our burger was very good and the malt was wonderful. We ate outside - nice. Why 3 stars? White plastic glasses. You have to have old fashioned coke glass! No ketchup, just packets. They never came out and checked on us. We carried our own plates back in. It cost two people $23 to eat a burger and shake. You have to have some service. We will probably go back for ice cream! Glad it is back.
Fresh, unpretentious, well prepared food in a historic setting.Ill be candid -- my very first experience there was less than stellar. (That said, in all fairness, the place had just opened weeks before.) I gave them a second chance and am very, very glad I did.Im especially fond of the bison burger and sweet potato fries. The root vegetable slaw is another personal favorite. Im not a big ice cream fanatic, so I probably wouldnt be the one to ask about the ice cream there.Dont go in expecting a $5.00 burger -- you wont find it on the menu. That said, the burgers here are definitely a cut above. You get what you pay for, IMHO.
Been coming here for years. Love the sodas - the black and white is well worth the drive. And the staff is super friendly.
This place was awesome! They food was great, the ice cream looked amazing, but we were too full to try any. I loved the decor and the bathroom was so cute. This was a great place all around!
What happened to this place? We moved here in late 2012 and it was one of our favorite spots for about a year and a half - excellent food, great service, and fantastic ice cream. Now its just an overpriced mess. Food is average at best and the service is no where near as enjoyable as it used to be. Weve gone about 4 times over the past 2 or so years hoping it would improve but it simply has not. I hope this changes - the location and building itself have so much potential, but the experience has become terrible.
Best frozen food down town. Dont order the iced coffee though. The staff doesnt like it when you order stuff on the menu that isnt typically ordered. The live music was nice though. He didnt act put out by having people inside.
Absolutely hands down the best ice cream I have ever had in my life. Its all hand made and I reccomend the coffee ice cream. The inside is decorated with vintage pictures and its really nice. They have a bar and if you want to taste the ice cream before you get it they have free samples.
Just sat at this restaurant for one hour after paying for our meal and never received our food. They never apologized, just said we would be next and then we weren’t....we finally walked out and will never be back. Worst restaurant I’ve ever been in!
Awesome! All the veggies are fresh, it feels nice to sit and watch the hustle and bustle of Midtown. The food was amazing. The staff was kind and helpful, and my experience was all that I could have asked for. Will definitely be coming again.
Nice place. Shared the Bodacious Banana Split with my wife. We both loved it!
I have always loved Kaisers. They have some amazing food and the prices are pretty reasonable. They have fresh baked goods, great meats, wonderful buffalo burgers, tasty drinks and then there is the ice cream...It is hard not to order the buffalo burger every time I go there, but they have so many other great options I like to spread the love. The reuben, the club, the chicken salad and the soups are all amazing. Make sure and grab some sweet potato fries with that. They make some stellar ice cream treats. There is a smell of fresh baked waffle cones that hits you as soon as you walk in. They are delicious. Try one. My favorite ice cream treat is the salted caramel malt. Wow.They used to serve liquor and beer with their soda fountain concoctions. For some reason that has stopped... This place would be unstoppable if they would just get their liquor license back. It isnt that big of deal. Just get it and serve the most unique treats in Oklahoma.
Not much of menu selection. Bread over toasted. Pickle old no flavor. Too pricey for the quality of food. Cream soda was great.
Still making fresh, tasty burgers, tender roasted pastrami, and some of the tastiest black and brown cows in the city. We enjoyed it!
The service is outstanding and personal, the Saturday afternoon music is terrific, and the food was delicious! The ice cream is a standout as well. Make it a point to visit!
Visited recently and wasnt as impressed in past years. It definitely has lost a bit of its sparkle. However the workers were very kind and the service was nice.
The girls had a great time with the juke box and enjoyed their ice cream sodas
This place has original food and homemade ice cream that makes you guess why you buy commercial anything. Great time with live music!
Amazing ice cream! Wonderful service! Relaxed atmosphere!
I got Homemade Irish Cream ice cream and it was good. Nice Mom and Pop shop. There was even live entertainment.
Use to be my first wait stuff job amazing ice cream and food. Use to enjoy making fresh soda by hand among shakes melts mad cows varies things favorite dish is sundeas or mountaint brownie dish made with carmel at bottom fudge chocolate browie 3 or 4 scoop of ice cream carmel fundge cherry sauce whip and cherry cool place
I thought my portion was small, but it was pretty tasty. Try the salted caramel, and cotton candy sorbet. The mango was a little less flavorful than expected.
Ordered the turkey burger w/ a cokeBuffalo burger w/ bacon & cheese & a coke $32 & some change! Thought maybe the food would be worth it. The burgers tasted like imitation meat & the fries seemed like they were bagged frozen fries! Never would I ever go there again!
Take a step back in time at Kaiser’s in Midtown OKC. The building is historic and the inside tells a story via pictures, the bar seating, and architecture. I had the salted caramel ice cream and it tasted like someone just finished cranking it in a old ice cream machine...fresh, soft, and delectable! The only mishaps we’ve had is the hours, check and double check the hours before you go to experience delicious homemade ice cream.
Good place to good for burgers and milkshakes
I dont know how old their grill is but this was the best cheeseburger Ive had in years.
My creative firm orders from Kaisers Grateful Bean several times a month. We all love their food, especially their burgers and the vegetarian Rueben. Their staff is so sweet!
8ce cream and a limited meal option in a historic place convenient to downtown and St Anthony Medical Center. Great option for a quick meal. Ice cream all hand made and delicious.
Great service, good food, nice atmosphere, delicious ice cream.
Ice cream was horrible and bland. Expensive and not worth it at all. I would rather go to coldstone and pay half the price for way better ice cream. Please just listen to me and dont go.
Love this place the milkshakes and floats are amazing there food is so good as well me and my family love this place
They are nice and Friendly People with great Prices and good food and they try to provide food to everyone even the Homeless and fixed income People
Walked in from a 40 minute drive to come to Kaisers on a Monday afternoon at 1:30 PM. Waitress looked at her watch. I found a table, looked at menu and she greeted us by telling us they had no french fries. Went to counter to order and she mentioned they would be closing early at 2 PM. She said it was ok to go ahead and order so I did. She even agreed to let us order ice cream when we finished up with our lunch. We ordered 2 house burgers with sweet potato fries and 1 kids burger meal with mac and cheese. During our brief visit several groups of people came in and she turned them all way for various reasons. We were hoping to get ice cream before we left but she tried to tell me something about the ice cream when were finishing up our burgers and by that point I was so frustrated that I said never mind. Basically, poor customer service, overpriced burgers. Was hoping to take the family out for a special treat to a local restaurant., but wasnt impressed.
Very poor food quality in off hours. Im sure my fries were microwaved and previously cooked earlier. Coffee was cold and in a cafeteria pump pot. Huge cores in my tomatoes. Burger over cooked for well done with no options according to host. And toasted bun was burnt around the rim. And serve yourself everything but the plate and get your own ketchup. Quit making food and stick to ice cream.
