Constructed this kit in an octagonal stairwell. Would not do it again. It took two of us a week. Each cable retainer consists of three parts, making over 3,000 pieces in all, counting the multiple set screws. Horizontal railing was very difficult to work with in the confined space. Their video was not applicable to this installation. Attractive enough, and the client is pleased, though I foresee a lot of tightening of set screws in the future.

Overall, because of the quality of the product itself, and the good customer service in answering my numerous installation questions, I give the iron shop 5 stars. (Having said that, installation of the railing was much more difficult than expected, and mine ended up with the curvature less than perfect - it has a couple of gentle humps. More information about its installation would be helpful to the consumer.)

My contractor purchased stairs and was told 3-4 weeks.. well we are 9 weeks later and still no stairs.. He then said that he told him 9-10 weeks which if we would have known this, we would have ordered from somewhere else. I think they just say what they want to say to get a sale. not trustworthy...

Another weekend passes and I am growing more and more frustrated with The Iron Shop.We ordered our $6k spiral staircase (NOT including a few thousand $$ for labor) on May 13. After being told and as stated on the contract that the stairs would ship in 8-9 weeks, we are now going on 11 weeks and are being told it will still be another 3 weeks until *hopefully* the stairs are completed in their shop. We are also just now being told that delays in production are completely normal. Gee, that wouldve been nice to know BEFORE placing our order, especially when we are sure that the other vendors we were talking to would have gotten us our stairs by now. Also, I have had to be the one asking the company for updates and timing, when I feel they should be giving us the updates on such a large order. AND, they havent even said sorry/apologized or offered any discounts or anything for the delay. I would think for a company these days, that should be best practice especially with all the competition out there and the potential for customers to become upset and write reviews online like this one. Doesnt seem that they mind messing with their customers time or money. It is quite a bummer and disappointment to say the least, and I am just really hoping for no further delays, issues with shipping and installation, etc. As of right now though, I would NOT recommend The Iron Shop. Do your homework and talk to the dozens of other companies all over CA and elsewhere!

My contractor ordered stairs from these guys months ago. When they finally showed up with the delivery, all they brought out was the pole. Now everyone is pointing fingers and we have no way to access our new deck. I guess they promised to have a new set out to us in another three to four weeks. So much for the summer deck.Check elsewhere if you or your contractor are thinking about using the Iron Shop.

First, delivery of product was was way overdue(actually I went to PA factory to pick it up). After double check measurements by their metrics with the salesman, got home and it was over a foot short. After much delay and threats, I finally received a filler piece. Big mistake...hard enough to join railing in one plce together, it was impossible to get it to fit joining it in two different points. I should have returned the whole thing. Still trying to smooth out the uneven twist where patch attempted to join two halves together.

The product is exactly what I wanted. The quality is 5 star and more. I was shorted one and another came by following week. No questions.
