This place has one amazing ambiance and vibe. The coffee and food is pretty good. Theyve a nice bakery as well. I would definitely recommend this for some quiet study/ work or a date. Theyve inside seating which is quiet.I want to give this place 5 stars but we had some issues with the service. We ordered boba, they gave us a smaller straw, we asked for another one which was also too small for boba. Had to just drink the iced tea without boba instead.
This place has become much nicer now with the extended seatings. However, our latest experience was not great. We ordered a cheesecake which didn’t taste good at all.
Had a delicious arugula and avocado salad here. I also recommend the Vietnamese coffee. I do suggest the dijon vinaigrette over the lemon with the salad though, but that was just my personal preference. I felt that the arugula needed something a bit stronger to offset the strong flavor (even though Im an arugula addict).
Awesome shop in the heart of Palo Alto. Had to hang out here for a couple of hours in between client meetings. Absolutely terrific coffee, nice outdoor seating area with many tables shaded, and good WiFi. Will be my goto if I need a landing spot or even for meetings!
Meh. Go if you have no better options.Pros: plenty of outdoor seating.Cons: Difficult to get the order right: after I clicked on what I did and didn’t want in my salad, some software bug added a bunch of weird stuff to my order and my salad was a mess. Service is poor: I had to chase my salad down, and my plastic cup arrived with two cracks, making it a hilarious dribble cup. Finally, and yes, this is out of their control, the place across the street blasts dorky music.
Nice place for meetups. Better staff than Hanahaus. I recommend the MACCHIATO.
Best hot chocolate in the Palo Alto area. Try their spicy Mayan hot chocolate. Hot chocolate done right! All coffee are good too. The inside and outside seating is very cute. They have very yummy chocolates, cakes and truffles as well. They have small bites that smell and taste yummy, try their panini. Nice decor too especially in the holiday season. One of the favorite places to get a cuppa coffee with colleagues and friends!!
Quaint little restaurant similar to a Crepevine. Serves salads, soups, paninis, breakfast, crepes, desserts and drinks. Unlike Crepevine, their portion for their dishes are on the small side, but prices are reasonable. Seating is cafe-like and is open seating after ordering at the counter. Food was good but not anything to be overly excited about. There is a storefront next door that serves extra seating for the main restaurant, which can be leased out to host private parties. It was a comfortable space to eat and lounge around. Lastly, there is only 1 restroom that serves the entire restaurant that was crowded when we were there.
Their crossiant breakfast sandwich is really good.
Pretty overrated. We got the breakfast arepa and the omelette, food tastes like what you can cook on the kitchen in 5 minutes.4.5 for the decor though.
I had an absolutely amazing decaf chai latte that was sweetened to the perfect level, and very filling. I also had an amazing yogurt parfait that tasted very delicious, and was also very filling. Because it’s such a popular café, we actually met someone that we knew while sitting and chatting there. Also, the atmosphere is fantastic and very relaxing. Many people were working very hard in the coffee shop.
A solid choice for breakfast or lunch. Their breakfast dishes are good, but I recommend trying their arepas and chais (there are a few different options). GF-friendly, for folks who are gluten sensitive.
Overpriced, unfriendly staff, small portions. The pabellon was dry and tough and the empanadas were greasy. Not recommended. My Venezuelan husband was very disappointed.
Best mocha in town and the friendly staff knows everyone. Great place for social gatherings or simply to bring your laptop and get a little work done.
A bit over priced and the food doesnt taste as good as the places from Miami, my home, but very good close second and I appreciate it for still making me feel like Im enjoying tequrños at home ^_^ also! Guys, please put out sugar packets near the pick up counter or put sugar in your coffee drinks? I tend to forget to ask but other than that, thank you!
Had breakfast there the other day. Food was great and big portion.
I really enjoyed the Vegan Arepa. The first time I also had the Avocado Toast because I was feeling like stuffing myself and it was delicious My second time I had a side of fried plantains and that was less expensive and very delicious, but definitely less healthy than the avocado toast. 😅I had a decaf oat milk latte and it was really great. My only complaint is that although they offer contactless ordering, they neither list in that system what is Vegan, nor do they seem to have an option for requesting oat milk (nor decaf) when ordering through that site, but ordering inside is fine too. 🙂
Super yum espresso drinks. Not cheap but worth the money.
I asked for not too much sugar in my drink and it was so sweet I couldn’t even drink it. My experience was bad with them. Sorry!
A+++Flavorable coffee ☕😋and super yummy hot chocolate... prices low for the high quality beverages they serve..
I work around the corner and Coupa has been our go to for their Vietnamese coffees. we ordered through DoorDash and the app made us choose a milk (condensed was not an option) so we chose almond milk. When we picked up our order the coffees were watered down and just not Vietnamese.. I called to ask if they would remake them and without hesitation they jumped to make the orders right! we will continue to order our Vietnamese coffees from Coupa - well just order directly from then next time!. Thank you to the Coupa Staff for all of your help and service
The place is cosy, a great place to catch up with friends or read a book by the fireplace, but they close way to early, around 6pm :(
The service is bad, employees are not helpful, bad treatment to clients. The food is good.
We love Arepas! Great Arepas! Great Coffee, high quality roast.Must go for breakfast/casual brunch.
Great location. Service was slow
Terrible service. Ordered paninis for pick up, when I came the sandwiches were sitting on the counter. The woman working kept us waiting 10min saying Ill be with you in one minute while she made herself a coffee and chatted with her coworker. The line continued to grow behind us. When she did finally address us, the order was wrong. When I pointed it out, she said well its already made.I honestly cannot believe there was not even an attempt to get the order correct or make some kind of amends. Some of the worst customer service I have ever seen.
Very bad service. We had to wait for almost an hour and later we found our drinks were ready and sitting on the counter inside though we were told food will be served on the table. We had ordered strawberry banana waffle with a side of butter and Nutella . We got waffles with strawberry and Nutella only There was a green thing sticking to the waffle. Bananas and butter was not given. When we complained they defended by saying we make food in the same kitchen and food can get stuck !! That’s how that green thing was explained. Is that how they cook? So unhygienic. On showing the order she gave us the bananas and butter separately. I will never come back. The chai boba tea had a bad aftertaste. I wonder if they used an artificial sweetener for the chai.Good thing : the vegan arepa was good though delivered after an hour. Hot chocolate was very good.
Coupa Cafe is a lovely little coffee shop in the heart of downtown Palo Alto. Now that Voyageur du Temps is closed it is my go to place for coffee and a brunch meal. The cafe offers a solid selection of brunch and lunch items with a Venezuelan flare, and a diverse coffee/ beverage menu. The food is good, but often sits too long at the counter before your buzzer goes off. (Its the type of place where you order at the counter and seat yourself). Theyll also randomly put out the coffee drinks ahead of the food, but not prepare them right away. So you end up going back and forth from your table to the counter so that you have a chance of a warm drink.Otherwise there is plenty of seating at the cafe, both inside snd out. Good options for paleo, gluten free, health food conscious folks, in addition to more gluttonous fare. Good choice for brunch in PA.
For your fly issue, I suggest targeting the source outside nearby, also using aerosols outside (Pyrethrin as an example). There are biodegradable insecticides that will help
Coupa Cafe offers a limited amount of outdoor seating and a variable menu. I ordered a design your own scramble which came with fruit and toast. I also ordered an Argentinian coffee. All was delicious. This is an order and pick up yourself restaurant...no table service. So order inside and listen for your name to be called. The food is always delicious and the specialty coffees are perfect! Love, love love this place.
Good to work while grabbing coffee
If you like chai tea, get their elephant chai
Took 35 minutes for my food and when I went to inquire inside the cashier was short and rude.
The coffee was sooo good!!Excelent quality!!!
Delicious Venezuelan food and good coffee
Try the Spicy Mocha, a unique Guatemalan drink that is as good as it sounds!
Nice outdoor seating. Good coffee.
Update (Aug-23, 2020): the cheapest Arepa is now $12.95...Coupa is one of those timeless Palo Alto spots, one that survives the ups and downs of the economy. I have come there since 2007, and the food and attention remains as great as ever.As someone born in Venezuela I can attest to how authentically Venezuelan the food is. The only reason I dont give it five stars is the prices: $12 for an arepa is simply crazy, and its the reason I only come here once in a while.
A wonderful one-stop coffee shop. They serve great coffee while also serving everything from breakfast to dinner. Highly recommend.
Good service as usual.
Got an empanada and coffee. A little pricey but food was cooked well enough and the coffee was excellent. They could be bolder with their spices though. Maybe playing to their environment.
Always great
Just seeing this place reminds me when my dad Julio was always here great restaurant 100000/10
Nice little boutique Venezuelan cafe.
Love that you can get arepas and empanadas here, both gluten free.
This is not just your typical “coffee” place. There are a variety of desserts, beer, wine and food. The portions are nice and the prices are decent. Coupa Cafe is always buzzing and has a great energy. The only downside is that it is narrow and gets crowded, but the everyday happy hour and Cobb salad are totally worth it. I’ll be back again tomorrow!
This place has awesome chai options. My favorite is tiger and elephant vanilla! They also have pretty good food! Love coming back here.
Great service, delicious food. I ordered their chicken quesadilla with chipotle sauce.
Lattes are more like cappuccinos, extremely slow service and frankly speaking not kind/ nice either. Felt unwelcome to spend 15$ for a crepe lol 😂
Love the coffee, cocktails and the food. I have gone several times alone and with friends. Best time ...happy hour-great prices
I had a coffee here and met up with a friend to play some chess. The decor in the cafe is nice and the service was quick. The coffee was good but not amazing. It tasted like they overbrewed the espresso a bit. I would recommend turning down the temperature on their espresso smidge a smidge
Amazing drinks and ambiance
Smaller menu now but tasty food and a higher proportion of Venezuelan.
I think that this cafe is a bit expensive for the taste. The deluxious dark chocolate is quite sweet and is made with powder and isnt thick and the sweets are nothing special but quite expensive. Also for the whole cafe there is only 1 toilet shared by every gender so be prepared for long waiting!
For me I need to be gluten and dairy free and I was able to find solutions - though I had to ask them to cook my buckwheat crepe in a soybean spray (wish there was a better alternative) - otherwise butter is used. I got the turkey tomato avocado without the Swiss cheese but they forgot my avocado so I had to request it back. I got plantains too but I think those were done in butter but they were good. The bubble chai tea is already made with almond milk - yummy!
The coffee was strong and tasty. Also try the spicy maya
Their hot chocolate is amazing. Service is very friendly. Location is perfect. Parking is right across. They have a main building and a study place right next door. Highly recommend for anyone traveling through. It is also a scene for start ups so if youre looking to network, this is the place to be.
Great menu, best hot chocolate in town. Arepas are also really tasty. Good music, nice place to work or talk with a friend.
Great almond croissant.
Coupa App charged me extra and customer service replied via email they’d refund me $40 (back in Feb 2019) but never did.Coffee is sub par and internet is slow. Only positive thing is the weekly soups (when dairy free) and friends who often stop by.Bad service with dirty tables left for over an hour when I work there.I recommend “BLUE BOTTLE” on University Ave as a great coffee shop nearby with food (avocado toast!)
Exceptionally good coffee and espresso
Mixed bag. Oatmeal, hot chocolate, and teas were really good but the paninis were just so so and the pasta wasn’t good at all. Then, after paying $3.75 for the initial glass of tea, it was $1 for a refill. Just ridiculous when you consider the actual cost of the tea. Other places have just as good tea with free refills. Bottom line: there are better places for food and drink with more reasonable pricing.
One of the few places where coffee is great.
Meh
Good food and wide selection of Venezuelan food. Breakfast, brunch and drink options available. A little bit slow service but overall great place to stop for a quick bite.
As always, reliable, busy, a lot of startup serious conversations, and pipe dreams. Coffee is pretty good, but not outstanding. Prices are high. Friendly service. Must do in downtown Palo Alto: stop there once at least!
