Worst experience Ive ever had with a business and/or a mechanic. I bought a vehicle from here mid May and have been told by multiple mechanics that it needs a new transmission. Since they (Great Lakes Auto) didnt want to deal with the issue they just keep telling me they cant find anything wrong with it. On top of that hes rude and unprofessional. Had a few wheel bearings, a ball joint, and brakes replaced. Everything was done perfectly and in a timely fashion. They were courteous and called to inform me of any problems or issues they ran into. Very great service, very quick, and cost effective. I’ll definitely be a returning customer.

I took my car to these wonderful mechanics after having my car in and out of another shop for 2 weeks and it just getting worse. After spending 2 weeks without my car due to the other shop my car stalled while idling on my way home. The next morning I called great lakes auto since I was able to get my car home the night before and explained what had been replaced and all the issues that followed the other shops repairs. I explained the car issues and they advised me to see if the car is still giving issues as 1 time of stalling out could be a fluke. My car wouldnt even start. After getting my car started I took it in and these great guys were so friendly upon arrival. Took notes on what had been done and what the car was doing now. They called to keep me informed every step of the way and made me feel good about my car being at their shop. They were great and my car runs better now than it did before hand. They ended up having to replace the o2 sensor and 2 fuel injectors. I was shocked that the other shop never caught this issue but thankful the guys at great lakes auto were so capable that they found the issue and were able to execute the repairs in a timely fashion. I will definitely take my car back there.

Regarding my 2001 Mustang,Ruined a new power steering pump through faulty installation. Wanted to replace brake lines, master cylinder, all 4 calipers, rotors, pads, ABS and more! Said my brake fluid was contaminated -- flushed it myself, and the fluid was good as new. Old brake lines were not swollen. I was told my caliper was locked up, when it was not.Best of all, they wanted over $2500 for all of this.Charged me $35 for looking at the pump THEY BROKE.And another $35 to tell me lies about my braking sytem.I fixed the car myself for less than $500 with 3 hours of my own labor.Take your car here for simple repairs, and they will find mountains of issues because the front office is on commission.BEWARE - Do not let these guys do your labor, especially without getting a second quote.

This is the exception right here, experience from beginning to end was all I expect and then some when it comes to customer service.My car decided that AFTER getting a part fixed with the engine just 4 days at the dealer, that it wanted to have the ball joints replaced also. I called around, found a place that said that they could get me right in, didnt quite go that way. I asked for another shop and the best thing they did was refer Great Lakes Auto Repair. I called right there, got John, he quoted me over the phone a VERY fair price (beat the guys price whos shop I was standing in), I thanked them and heading to John.John made me feel comfortable from the moment I walked in. He got a tech to drive my car right away and pull it in to confirm the issue, and was on the way to work. I walked in after noon, he had me going again with New ball joints, wheel alignment, and stabilizer BY 5 PM. . . . Very Pleased! But more than the great service from John and his team, I loved the fact that I NEVER knew that he was the owner. This man answered Every call, helped at the desk, was in the back and not once did I get that Im the owner attitude that some can give. He is down to earth, we chatted and laughed while I waited for my ride.Im not from here, soon havent been to shops around here like that, but I WILL be back to John and his guys if every needed again. Highly recommend these guys!!! I brought my 88 Blazer to them and they were very helpful and professional throughout the repairs. Unlike other shops, they care about the cars and customers and are more than happy to work on classic cars. John took the time to talk me through the different options for the repairs. He even showed me what broke and talked me through what would be done to complete the repair. The repairs were made quickly and at a good value to get my truck back on the road. I will definitely bring my vehicles there in the future for repairs and service.

When taking my car in for repairs, I was promptly greeted by Steve. I told him the issue I was having with my car. Steve took all the information necessary to diagnose issue, kept me updated on the progress of my repair and he called me later that day when my car was ready. The bill was less than I was originally told and I felt comfortable the whole time. Great service! I will return!!

My Eclipse had an intermittent starting problem awhile back so I had them tow it to their shop. They were extremely upfront about pricing and we agreed replacing the starter was the best path. Never had an issue again after that. Car was done in a couple of hours. Pricing was extremely fair and they did a basic inspection while it was there. Very professional and I frequently recommenced them.

Gave these guys a try for the first time this week with no prior knowledge of them. Went strictly off of the quality of their website, google page and the way they answered the phone.I was not disappointed, got them my car Friday afternoon had a diagnosis Monday afternoon (theyre closed weekends, so far the only negative I can see) and had it back on the road Tuesday afternoon. The pricing was fair, and they were honest about what needed to be fixed to be safe to drive and what I could wait on.

Great Lakes auto repair is the best. I pulled in on a Friday afternoon near closing time. I was convinced my car would be out of commission for the weekend. Not only did they take me right in but they completed the repair quickly and for far less than I expected. I have since returned many times for oil changes and have ALWAYS been treated right . This place is beyond amazing. While on the road for a conference for Work, my serpentine belt came off. (Note) I am no where near home. I exit the freeway and google search for a place near to service my car. Great Lakes Auto was the first to pop up!!! I dialed their number and an awesome person by the name of Matt answered the phone. Upon talking to Matt he stated he’d be able to get me right in AND their location was only 2.9 miles from where I pulled over at. Not only were they able to get my car in, Eddie their mechanic was able to get me back on the road in about an hour. I brought my truck to another shop with one priority concern, and a few secondary concerns. The estimate I received was not affordable for just the primary concern. I brought my truck to Great Lakes Auto Repair, and was informed that it was misdiagnosed at the first shop. At the end of the day they repaired every problem I was concerned about for cheaper than one misdiagnosed priority concern at the first shop.HIGHLY RECOMMEND THESE GUYS!

If I Could give Great Lakes Auto Repair 10 stars I would. On my way to work and blew my tire on Walton. I was able to make it to thier shop and they could not have been nicer. I am able to change a spare noprob, however its -10 and was not dressed properly to deal with the cold. They changed out the badtire, threw on the spare and ordered me a new tire. They now have a life time customer and will refer them to everyone.

I paid 1600 for them to put on Brake calipers brakes rotors and to change my break holes they were 11 years old they only change one so the problem I had before came back just on the passenger side try to get them to fix they mess up they tried to charge me for they suck

These guys do fabulous work and dont make you overpay for it... Also they get the job done in a timely fashion you wont be waiting days or weeks for simple jobs.

Took my car to GLA at the referral of a close friend because my brakes lost all power. I had known for about two months that I had a small leak in my front passenger side brake line, being the son of a former mechanic I had bought parts and planned on doing the work myself. However, weather and timing were not on my side. Took my car in and Matt and John took a look at it and found that my master cylinder had also went bad. They replaced the cylinder and found that I was right about the leak in the front passenger line, however Matt was pretty sure that the increased pressure from the new cylinder caused the leak. They replaced the line as well and now my car stops better than when I bought it.They did it at a reasonable price too, because I know that the same job at a dealership could have been $900-1000. Ill definitely be seeing them in the future.

The service at this shop is always above par. I had a bad exhaust leak, and I was expecting a push for a whole new exhaust. But no, they fixed it up for just $78, and its still going strong. Great shop. Great people.

We thought we had found our place for vehicle repair! Had a feeling the last few times that we were paying too much. Well my son had a problem with his power steering and they told him it would cost $500 to fix it so we took it to someone else who fixed it for the cost of a clamp ($6.00) and the bottle of fluid to refill it. The owner called us to figure out what happened and we asked him what was the highest he could charge us for this fix and he said $60. And that he needed to find out what is going on with his business. Then my 18 yr. Old daughter told us that she was affraid to tell us that she just paid $1000 to them to fix her brakes!!! We will never go back to them and encourage people to stay away! They take advantage of people who dont know much about vehicles! Beware!!!
