My wife and I went to upgrade her to a newer iphone a few weeks ago. We showed up at 5pm, with a closing time of 6pm. It took time to get someone to help us, and once we finally got her new phone it was closing time. The employee literally told us that we would need to set it up ourselves at home because his boss would be mad if he stayed later to help. He said its really easy. I had to look up online how to transfer from one phone to another. I transferred the SIM card, worked for 2 weeks and then after an iphone update it stopped working. I had to call and they said I didnt set it up properly. I guess I wasnt supposed to move the SIM card over from the old to the new phone. NO ONE EVER TOLD ME HOW TO DO IT!! I cant even get a hold of the store now.....have to go through the main verizon number and every time they transfer me to the store no-one answers. This is beyond frustrating!!!!!!!

Thank you for inspiring me to never walk into this location again. I’ve never seen such rude and short sales staff with other clients. My experience wasn’t terrible - couldn’t get done what I wanted but that is what it is - but the way that other people were being treated was reprehensible

Apparently theyre open for appointment only right now, but let me wander the store for 40 minutes and didnt tell me. They should put a sign out front or something on Google so that people dont waste their time. I dont really blame the people working there as there were only two of them and Im sure theyre just as frustrated. They seemed nice and friendly, despite being short-staffed, which is why this location gets two stars instead of one.

I was told several things, one of which my bill wouldnt be so high, and the other was that I could always communicate with Verizon. My bill was $80 higher than what they told me it would be. When I asked about it, I couldnt get an answer. When I went in to cancel service in person, they pushed me off to the side and said, Call this number. Have a good day. Really? I wouldnt recommend Verizon. I would recommend T-Mobile.

Salesman unprofessional and not helpful. Purchased a phone but was not asked about ways to charge it. Insisted I buy a box to lay my phone on to charge it. Had to return it as my charge cords at home worked perfectly. In the store he kept talking and laughing with the other salespeople who didnt have customers. Told me to call the 800 number if I needed help. Told me I needed to pay with cash but later said I could use my credit card.When I came back the next day to return the box I didnt get waited on for 2 hours.

This location is hit or miss with service depending on who is in the store. sometimes they are great other times not so much. The only commonality is the sense of urgency (there is none). If there is not a lot of customers then they are quick, if there is they move slower almost like they are hoping you will leave.

Wow. Had an absolutely awful experience at this location. I drove 20 minutes to get to this store. I wanted to discuss getting a plan with them and options for phones. I was abruptly greeted by a tan employee with a beard. He didn’t let us go into the store. I expressed why we were at the store and he immediately told me to come back on Valentine’s Day because that’s when they have the best deals and he basically pushed out of the way while he helped another customer. I was very dissatisfied with how he treated us as I had other questions that he didn’t let me ask. So I turned and told him I had more inquiries. He once again reiterated that Valentine’s Day is when I should come back for the best deal and shooed me away. I got to my car and I was livid. He didn’t even let me try and discuss plans and pricing to see if I wanted to come back in 2 weeks for the best deal. I was so turned off by this experience I ended up calling AT&T when I got home and set up a new plan with them. I do not recommend this store as they do not take the time to listen to potential customers needs.

So yesterday (August 27th 2021) I accompanied my mom and sister to get a billing detail fixed and to purchase a new phone. The store closed at 8pm (per Google hours), we arrived at 7:10pm. We knew what we wanted and needed so our visit wouldnt have taken longer than 30 minutes. Upon arriving I noticed one associate sitting attending 2 older ladies and another associate tending to two girls. We obviously knew they were both busy but, not one greeted us, acknowledged us, or ever spoke one word to us as we stood there waiting. Our past experience was pleasant with a MANAGER whos name started with a W. Tall professional black man who greeted every single person in the store so, for these 2 kids to act like they didnt notice a family of 3 walking around waiting to be helped felt pretty disrespectful, especially seeing the expectations their manager has had for the store and customer service. We waited, and waited, and waited and even after both associates walked past us at times, they never even looked our direction. Finally at 7:45pm (35 minutes of standing there feeling like ghosts) we left. Not one word was directed to us as they saw us walk from the back wall to the front door. Is this the customer service that Verison is proud to portray? I get it, they probably ignored us so we would leave and they wouldnt have to stay after hours but communication is key, especially when youre paid commission & your take home income is based on sales. Really disappointed in this store and its employees. Not coming back.P.s. the associate helping the two girls even mentioned that he was looking at a possible management position. If thats the case and he gets the position...well, good luck portage.

Visited recently due to having a phone thats nearly bricked (dead battery, its old), ready to buy an upgrade. I worked with Jaspreet and he gave me an honest assessment of the phones currently available, ultimately advising against my top two choices as I could get more phone for my money with other options. I walked out with a warranty replacement on my phone to last til this years line of phones come out for more/better options. You dont see this kind of integrity in most cellular stores, regardless of brand! Could have had an easy sale but cemented my faith & loyalty in the local Verizon shop instead.

Worst service I have ever seen. Went in to upgrade my phone and was talked into switching to a business account because it would offer more benefits for me. Found out what the salesman said was not true and went back 3 times to switch back to a personal account only to be told they can not help. Called Verizon from the store and was talk to a service Rep when I was told by the salesman in the store I needed to leave I could not be there. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!

Came here to purchase/ upgrade my broken phone. Walked up to the door to check in. Then was asked to wait in the car for a “few minutes” (reasonable due to COVID restrictions) and that someone would text or wave us in. Well sat out there for a good 15-20 mins figuring they were busy. A few cars drove in after us and same they had to wait until I saw they got called in before us. So after watching 3 cars that came after us get in before us we left. 100% sure we were passed up. Talk about uncaring employees. Yet another reason we will be exclusively online shopping.

Don’t ask for Jeff if you need your broken phone looked at. All he will do is try to make you buy a new phone to get a sale. Other guy (didn’t catch his name) knew what to do immediately and saved me from going the weekend without a phone. Waited outside to be let in by service member, touched the same door handles as the service member, handed over my drivers license, was informed that Verizon is “touch free”, went to pay the “touch free” and It didn’t work. Waited patiently for the manager who has the ability to accept alternate methods of payment to figure out the system, all the while both service member were touching the package I was about to purchase. Ended walking out because the Verizon touch free payment system doesn’t work. Corporate at it’s finest, not only was I exposed to potential germs, I also didn’t get what I went in for. #no wonder I am an AT&T customer!

Stopped at the W Main Store in Kalamazoo. Phone very slow to respond having to touch it several times for action. Could not get past the door man. He took a quick look, did a soft set and tole me it was an entry level phone! If i needed service to call! I dont pay the higher Verizon rates for this kind of customer service. You have to find a phone on line, hope its what you want/need, and hope you can set it up yourself. No handling of phones, no phones to look at in person, no help with set up, no one to answer questions. Heres your phone, hand over the $$. We all realize this is a different time but buying a phone isnt the same as buying laundry detergent. Some things require assistance. You wont find it at Verizon.

All they do at the stores is sell you items, they cannot take a phone off an account they cannot transfer a phone to an account, and they rather have you use kiosk to pay bill than talk to a real person, the phone service is fine but customer service is horrible.

Very dissatisfied with my service, went and bought 2 new phones, Samsung a71 5g was talked into buying cases and covers and speakers and wireless chargers. Setup for my phone was TERRIBLE 3 hours and finally got it, tried to hookup the wireless charger and its not available with my phone. Why did he sell it to me then. I have been with Verizon for 16 years and Im seriously considering switching, it is always such a hassel and nothing works. I also switched to an unlimited plan and I get free Hulu, disney+ and espn....guess what, when I tried to set those up they couldnt help me at this time!!

Verizon shop on S. Westnedge Ave., Portage, MI. Helpful and cheerful guys make this brand my first choice in the world of cell phones. Not long ago, I dropped my phone, smashed the screen, but had a replacement in less than two days. Their assistance dealing with the insurance company was much appreciated and made life easy (zero stress). Recommended.

During the Covid, I understand times are difficult and an adjustment for everyone. This location was “open” but wouldn’t allow people inside to create accounts for new phones. This had to be done online or on the phone. We spent an hour doing it online with little help to the people inside the store working. After we got frustrated and asked for help, they told us they didn’t know where we messed up and we needed to call customer service to place the order that way.We spent two hours at Verizon trying to set up new phones and accounts with a two and a four year old girl in the back. It was a frustrating experience.Hopefully this isn’t how our entire experience is with Verizon.

Average Verizon store. Employees who clearly dont want to be there but need a job (different people from year to year so you know turnover must be high). Prices for phones are more than elsewhere (I bought my note10+ for $100 less at Best Buy across the street). Cases and accessories are at least double what they are on Amazon, but heck, given half of the population is by definition under average intelligence that really explains why people come here (AT&T is worse).

My wife ordered a phone to be picked up at this location. She called this morning to verify it was ready before I drove 45 minutes to pick it up. They said it was all set. When I got there they said it showed it was ready and paid for but they couldn’t give it to me because of an error in their system. I waited while they tried figuring out what happened. They also said I wasn’t an authorized user to pick up and my wife had to call to add me. I had lunch and came back after my wife called again and did they now cancelled the order so I could buy it straight from the store . They still didn’t have it ready 45 minutes later but also said I didn’t have the proper ID to pick it up. Thanks for the wasted 1 and a half trip. The employee stated she had already bent over backwards for me and couldn’t do anymore.

They will sell you anything you want but they will not help you transfer your Verizon service from your old phone to your new phone that you just bought from them. The sales guy gave me an instruction sheet that did not match up with my new phone. Totally not helpful. I gave 2 stars because I like Verizon cell service and data plan but the customer service at the Westnedge store used to be more helpful.

Was at the store 5 minutes after it was open. They had 3 people working of that 1 of them was only greeting customers and taking names. Took over an hour to be taken care of. The older generation likes to take care of things in the mornings. This place is a joke. You need to staff your stores better in the mornings. Didnt even want to give a star. Maybe even open at 9am instead of 10am.

NO respect for customers. Do yourself a HUGE favor. Absolutely the worst at timely service. Walked in said I wanted an upgrade, I know what I want and waited over an hour with no help at all. I was a guaranteed quick sale and should of taken no more than 10 min. Another older gentleman came in behind me wanting to return a cord and was put in the same waiting line he left as did I because of the waiting. This is unacceptable and needs to be addressed or more employees hired to handle the demand. Get it together Verizon youre better than this. Im going to another store for business from now on!

The service here was absolutely horrendous.I switched from AT&T to a friends Verizon account, and was trying to get help in switching my phone Over to Verizon.The staff (Jeff and China) were extremely rude and very unhelpful. Jeff acted confused and as if he did not care. Come to find out, (as the comment was made numerous times) apparently they were unhappy that “the other Verizon store that set up the account would receive the credit for the sale”. Unfortunately I could not be at that other store and needed help setting my phone up there. You’d think Verizon employees would be helpful when you are trying to switch from a competitor to their service.I am ashamed of switching to Verizon now and absolutely would never return to this store. Very very poor ambassadors of Verizon.

Horrible! We will not sign up with Verizon again and that decision is totally based on the service that we have gotten at the Portage, Michigan Verizon store. If you got all day to sit on hard chairs and wait for a salesperson that doesnt know how to sell you the phone services you need then this is the store for you. Or if you like to make your payments in cash at the Verizon store using the Verizon kiosk and you dont care if it really works or not, this store might be for youVerizon has been our cell phone provider for years but as soon as our contract is up we will find a different phone company

Shane is by far one of the most valuable employees that Verizon Wireless has. Twice now Ive walked into Verizon with the intentions of cancelling my plan due to one issue or another, and twice now Shane has been able to help assist me with my issue and keep my business with Verizon. He did not have to tempt me with any outlandish offers, but spoke to me human to human, and made it clear he completely understood my frustrations. No salesmen in any other line of work has half the integrity that Shane does. At no point in time did he throw Verizon or any of their manufacturers under the bus, but he did make it clear that he took my issue personally, and would do anything in his power to help. Next time I make a visit into Verizon, I will happily wait as long as it takes to have Shane assist me. Hes got my business for life!

Very helpful staff. Jeremy was fantastic. Absolutely recommend coming here. He spoke with us the same way we spoke with him and he was extremely relatable. You could tell he actually cared and wasnt just punching a clock. We were just there for a note 10, but he sold us on a bundle promotion deal and we walked out with a case, screen protector, and a wireless charger as well. China was also very kind, though we primarily worked with Jeremy. He helped us with questions we had when we came in a few days prior, even though we said we wouldnt be purchasing anything that day. I am very picky when it comes to my phone and the accessories I use and he was patient and had many great recommendations for us. Wish I had gotten a survey, would have given 10/10.
