Everyone is eager is help, answer questions and most of all, listen to your needs and requirements to make sure youre getting the best bike for your lifestyle and budget. I appreciate them so, so much! Weve bought our kids first bikes here, serviced all of our bikes with them, and just got our first cargo e-bike from them. Ill just never go anywhere else. We could not be more happy with their level of service and knowledge. Clever is tops.

I had been researching and thinking about an E Bike for the last two years. I made an appointment to ride 2 bikes at Clever Cycles. I did not put down a deposit to ensure the ones I selected were waiting for me. It was serendipitous as I ended buying a bike I had not even thought of but the Linus Cresta has great reviews and I saved some serous $ not going with the Blue Jay I had thought I wanted. Laurie was so accommodating, knowledgeable and willing to work with me. I wasn’t thinking about locks, racks or baskets, but definitely needed a review mirror. The handles on the Linus did not accommodate a mirror, but Mark changed out the the grips and put on the mirror in record time. All of my emails have been answered quickly and yes the break noise has disappeared with use. I will return to Clever Cycles before the summer is over, as I need a rack or baskets to be able to ride without a backpack.

The people at Clever Cycles were knowledgeable and helpful. We felt supported and loved their selection of electric assist bikes that were good for toting kids! We are so happy with the bike we got and the service as well. They also have a good selection of accessories - bike helmets, bells, cargo solutions... a true one-stop shop.

Like most bike people, I have a bike problem. Can someone have too many bikes? Never. At the moment, I have multiple folding bike brands on my mind several of which will become part of my life in the near future. One of these small beauties is the Brompton, a brand Ive wanted to explore for over a decade, so when I found myself in Portland-with Clever Cycles staring back through the windscreen-I knew it was time. Where I live there are no Brompton options. Clever had a great reputation but I also knew the current c19 reality of shipping issues, production issues and raw material shortages would make it nearly impossible to get the specific bike I wanted. Maddie (Mattie?) said We got a shipment in today...hang on. Talk about a moonshot. Not one but TWO of the bikes we were looking for. Boom, done, tweaked and assembled and out the door in two hours. Ive never seen my wife more excited to ride. Our five thousand mile van trip now requires us to stop more, ride more and explore more. Thank you to everyone who helped. Sales, mechanics, all. And now....for that Tern e-cargo bike in the showroom.......

Called & they held the bike (with a deposit that was refundable) I believed was what I wanted. They trusted me to take it to a steeper hill to try it out and I was very happy with the results going uphill. I bought it and am happy with the service and the bike. Im positive I would have purchased more items from them, but their store inside was not open for the public. That was the only negative and turned out to be a $100 loss for them as I purchased the other things I wanted at another bike store I was able to enter. Still give them a 5 star rating

GREAT EXPERIENCE! Ive been looking for an e-bike for over a year. Test-ridden a lot. Made an appointment for a test ride and they asked ahead of time what I was hoping to demo, and they were prepared. Our sales person Liz was an absolute gem. Very knowledgeable on all the bikes we rode, gave us great tips. She was able to help my boyfriend and I together in the same appointment. Their website shows the store inventory and was accurately reflecting what was in stock. Theyre running a great shop! We got bikes that FIT well and we LOVE them. I rode to work yesterday (an hour each way with hills that I could not take without the e-assist). So happy with my new bike!!

Overall purchase experience was great. I had reserved a couple Bromptons to have them built up and then held until I was able to make it into the shop to pick them up. When I arrived both bikes were ready to go. I even added extensive accessories to one of the bikes and they were able to accommodate installing every item that same day. The shop and the employees certainly know Bromptons well and the store deserves the “Brompton Premier’ dealership tag.

Emailed looking for a Linus Roadster 7i. At first I was told there were all out and I could, if I wanted, put a deposit down on one. They were backordered and expected fulfillment would be October. This was to be expected because of the run on bikes with everyone being in quarantine. About an hour later I received a follow up email stating that they had tracked one down for me and it was mine if I wanted it! I snatched it up. They had it assembled and ready for me to pick up a couple days later. Great staff and great bike.

After a decade of using various bike shops around town, I was pretty jaded and didnt expect to find a shop that provided great customer service. I came to CleverCycles specifically to get a cargo family bike but Im hoping they service standard road bikes as well because I dont want to give anywhere else my business now. I interacted with owner(s) and employees between emails, phone calls, and three visits, as this was a big purchase. Everyone was so nice, knowledgeable, and adept at customer service and super friendly and welcoming when I had my toddler in tow as well. I cant recommend them and the shop enough and thats not even mentioning the incredible cargo bike that Im excited to ride and enjoy for years to come. Thank you!

Friendly staff with a “can-do” attitude. Purchase was easy and smooth. I liked my experience so much I decided to buy my Brompton from Clever Cycles even though I’m from out of state.

I live in Seattle, and I do not consider it a hassle to travel to Portland to get my bicycles serviced semi-annually. I also purchase all parts for my Brompton from Clever Cycles - chain, cassette, tubes, and tires. In every aspect of their business operation, the quality of service and product is flawless. I can always sense that their mechanics worked on my bike as if it was their own bikes, which is a quality near impossible to find in any kind of service business, be it a bicycle shop, auto mechanic, or house contractors. When I purchase parts, they are always packaged with care, and shipped swiftly. They always answer my inquiries with great care, even if it does not lead to a sale. Clever Cycles seem to simply want to get more people to enjoy cycling. If I ever move to Portland, the decision would have been made in -part to be closer to Clever Cycles.

For a shop that was full of ebikes I was hesitant, but the mechanics knew what they were doing and provided knowledge and step by step instructions. Was able to fill up water, bike nerdy sales team, good Portland bike shop.

I recently bought a Tern HSD from Clever Cycles. Great experience. Eva, one of the owners, showed me multiple bikes, gave me instructions on each and background on the manufacturers and gave me ample time to test ride each. Everyone involved in the process was cool. Only wish I could have gone in the shop because it looked like they had great stuff. But despite the Covid restrictions, it was an easy process. I highly recommend checking them out.

They have a wide selection of bikes to choose from. I recently purchased a bike and had Eva put it together. She was a great help and went through the effort to do extra research to customize it the way I wanted. Everyone is friendly and a great help. One the best bike shops Ive been to in the city.

Clever Cycles recently rehabbed my wifes and my bike after they had been sitting for a couple of years unridden and unattended. Not only did the staff at CC get them back into perfect riding condition, but they voluntarily took the time to actually clean off the grime which had collected on them from being stored away. That extra step says everything you need to know about CC and their people.

So........getting a bike was turning out to be an ordeal during the pandemic as i shopped localy and on line. I remembered ;cleaver has linus and I love linus. A four month wait; oh well. as long as other wait times.Ok. 2 months later........come pick up your bike. clever was as great as ever. A shiney new linus roadster, a safe socialy distanced staff and more courtesy than most people could muster pre pandemic. Be back for that 100 mile tune up they cheerfuly reminded me of. you need to shop here.

A gem of a bike shop. I’ve been a customer for many years, and have brought all sorts of bikes here for maintenance. Friendly, knowledgeable staff, great parts selection, and they can fix almost any problem! If they make a mistake, they work to solve it. I recently traded in a Brompton to upgrade to a newer model, and the process was super easy.

I recently purchased a bike from Clever Cycles and the experience was excellent. I had a number of interactions with them, starting with a rental to try out the bike, and then purchasing the bike, getting some additional accessories, and finally returning one accessory that wasnt going to work for me. I was able to get in touch with the staff by phone, web chat, and in person and everyone has been friendly and helpful each time.

Awesome customer service. I was so impressed with the help I got from Laurie and other staff getting the right child seat and rack for my wifes bike that would also fit our future e-bike purchase. The buying experience was great, Clever was very responsive to my questions. I purchased a Frog 62 and was quite surprised to find that there were no assembly instructions included nor any videos online. Frog does provide a very general guide through a web hyperlink but according to them instructions/videos were halted due to the pandemic. The bike is a quality product, my son loves it, but the lack of instructions does take away from the experience and I wish Clever couldve posted a disclaimer about it.

I purchased my son’s first bike, the Linus 20” Roadster from Clever Cycles, and I was very satisfied with the online buying experience, order follow-up, and very responsive and friendly staff. With bikes being sold out everywhere due to the “Shelter in Place” finding an honest company that show updated information on their website was really tough. I found that this company accurately represented their stock amounts online and informed me within 24 hrs that the order had been fulfilled and was getting prepared for shipping. The bike was even expedited through BikeFlights and arrived in perfect condition! My son was so excited to receive his bike on time for his birthday. Great shop....highly recommend Clever bikes, especially for e-bikes. Over a few visits, we dealt with Dean, Liz, Eva and few others and all were professional and super friendly. No pressure sales, and made sure we tried several bikes that matched our needs. Liz even set the bikes up for demo using weighted panniers to mimick how we’d be using it. Fortunate that they were open during pandemic times (with proper precautions) and that we live close by.

Im not in the Portland, OR area, I am in the SF Bay Area, and since our SIP enforcement continues to be extended, I thought that this would be a great time to pick up a new hobby. The hobby that I picked was biking (along with everyone else in the US) and of course I pick out a bike that is sold out everywhere, which is classic behavior for me.I was searching high and low for a Linus Mixte 3 and I FINALLY found it at Clever Cycles. I called the shop a few times to understand my options for shipping the bike from Oregon to California. Each employee that I spoke with were incredibly helpful and friendly -- shout out Eva & Dylan!!When I was able to confirm that they had the bike & that I could purchase it, I was helped by a super friendly guy named Dean. Dean answered each of my questions, and I assure you there were a lot. Dean walked me through shipment, payment, etc, and was incredibly patient throughout the entire process. I recently ordered a custom electric bike conversion online and wanted to ship it to a shop for professional assembly. Since the bike was built with some parts seen on some cargo bikes, I ended up having it assembled here.The staff were efficient and friendly; I coordinated for shipment via email, the bike arrived in their shop one day, and it was ready for pickup the next. They adjusted it to my height when I walked in, sold me a helmet, and I was on my way! Prices were entirely reasonable.If I were in the market for a cargo bike or folding bike, I would definitely come here first. Lots of great options for folks who require non-standard bikes for travel, carrying kids, carrying cargo, etc., and great service! The best shop in Portland for any of those use cases, really.Another bonus: easy to get to via public transit, and its along a quiet side street thats great for test rides. If youre not used to foldable or cargo bikes and would like to practice a bit before you buy, its a very safe area to do so.

Ive only had good experiences coming to this shop. Ive brought my bike in three different times for different services and repairs, and the staff have been nothing but helpful. They thoroughly explained the issues to me, as well as how to avoid them in the future, and Ive never felt talked down to - they really want to help you out. On my last visit, Aaron went above and beyond, performing extra maintenances just because they needed to be done, and was incredibly helpful and friendly - Ive never felt so welcome at a bike shop before coming here! Very fair repair prices, too!

Tracking down a good kids bike during COVID times has proved challenging. Found it at Clever Cycles, website was accurate in reflecting bikes in stock, staff was super helpful getting it ordered over the phone and getting it shipped to the east coast the same day. Cleary Owl for my 6 year old arrived on schedule and in good shape and is an awesome kids bike that he already loves to ride. Seems to be a good operation, only wish I lived in Portland to enjoy it in person.

This shop rules! I had my eyes on a certain brompton on their web shop and before I could commit to buying it the bike had sold. So I messaged Clever Cylces about sourcing the right brompton for me and they had one in stock I wanted (black edition) but it had a dynamo hub which I didn’t want or need. I let them know and they took off the dynamo and put a non dynamo wheel on for me at no charge. They also installed a suspension block I purchased from them so the brompton was ready to ride out of the box exactly how I wanted it. Shipping was fast and affordable also! Can I make monthly payments if I can’t buy it straight out?

I’ve been researching the right bike trailer for my dog and I chose the Burley Tail Wagon. I didn’t want to buy it on amazon because eww Jeff Bezos, and made the call to buy it from a local bike purveyor. I’m so glad I did. I ordered it by phone, rode my bike there and they put the trailer on my bike for me. They were fast, friendly and helpful. 10/10 would make another purchase at Clever Cycles
