Drove my collector car to this place in September 2018 .. theyve taken over 7 months so far to change out 6 spark plugs, 6 spark plug wires & fix the generator to charge the correct amount of electricity. Still not done, and theyve left my collector car ( 1937 Dodge ) outside in the rain, snow, hail and hot sun. You be the judge .. good service .. caring consciousness people .. ? I dont think so. Harm wanted to change my car to 12 volt but Ive driven it for over 15 years as the original 6 volt and the car has done just fine until it needed the generator brushes fixed and I took it there. ALL work on it stopped when I said no to changing the entire car to 12 volts and now no calls are returned, my text messages arent returned and I cant get my car back... great people ? There are other cars in their lot too that have been there just as long .. are they having the same problem .. said no to Harm for work the car owner didnt want done, so ALL work stops, and you cant get your car back ?
Believe the comments. If you are his personal friend, you might get your work done. I was quoted 2.5 weeks turnaround. 7 weeks later, after being lead on week by week, I took my disassembled transmission to another shop. My truck also had the hitch pin taken and swapped with a bar of steel (not big, but really!) The constant lies, dodging calls, and never getting the work done cost me much more than the original work. If youve been screwed over by this place, take them to conciliation. I did and he has a few other court cases besides mine.
First of all I believe that most of these reviews are bogus, no way a person could stay in business if half of them were true, with that being said this is my experience: I own Our Vision Recycling and as any small business owner we need our vehicles in top working condition to complete with the larger recycling companies. The owner of Prior Lake Transmission understands this. His name is Harm and he always ensures my vehicles are always on the road, his Professionalism, honest detailed assessments of the work needed, and he always ensures that they are finished on a timely basis. I am at a loss to understand the poor reviews. In all of my dealings with Prior Lake Transmission, I believe that I have been treated fairly, professionally, ethically, and timely. All charges seem in line with other estimates I have received and work was completed on time, except when issues beyond the control of the business come into play. I will be returning over and over!
What an awful experience. Delays, runaround, lies, no follow-through. Strongly advise against this establishment for vehicle repairs, its not worth the time, hassle, and headache.

I wish I would have read these reviews before I took my vehicle to this place. Same as the other people, there were constant delays, constant excuses, constant BS. I was never given any updates, after weeks would go by, I would have to call to see what the deal was. Please read these reviews and THINK before you bring your vehicle to Prior Lake Transmission. What a joke, im surprised they are still in business. The quality of the work is yet to be seen, but if its anything like their customer service, I should trade my truck in ASAP
The truck was 2 weeks late to get finished, when I called or stopped by the owner was full of excuses. One time I stopped by when he promised me, the many times he did, that he would be working on it, he would have another car on the lift. If you are looking for horrible service and And major headache, feel free to bring it to this guy. I usually dont write a review but sometimes it is just justified. At the end of the day we are giving these businesses our hard earned money and shouldnt stand for terrible customer service. Tell your friends and family to stay away from this shop.
Prior Lake transmission took care my minivan and at good price did good quality work and Im very happy other shops were going to charge me almost double the price !!!5 stars all day thank you very much!!!
Talk about bad, it’s like these guys pull your transmission and hold you hostage. They come up with constant excuses as to why you vehicle isn’t done, then tell you they are working on it. When you try to just take it somewhere else they will charge you $1500 for what they have done (an hour of work to take your trans out and park your car) so they know you aren’t going anywhere. I don’t know if they take on too much work or if they are just that slow. You would think they would want to get it done and paid for the work but apparently not. Judging from the other reviews, this is just how they do business. I would take a serious look at other shops before I went to PL transmission.
Evaluated vehicle, provided fair estimate for work needed. Chose not to repair as vehicle not worth it. Great experience.
BEWARE!!!! worst customer service Ive ever experienced. Was told my vehicle would take a couple days, never got a call for any update. Days turned to weeks, the only time I got an update was when I called. Left messages to call me back and nothing. I would NEVER recommend these guys to anyone. Im guessing the people who wrote positive reviews must be friends. I wish I would have read how terrible these guys were before I took my vehicle there.
My minivan was there 15 months. Thank goodness I had another vehicle. I thought my car was being put on the back burner for more profitable repairs. When I picked up my van yesterday my bill was for the full amount. Never taking in the insurance I was paying for my van to sit or the tabs I wasnt able to use or the wear and tear of sitting for that long. Not to mention there was body damage, and my windshield was cracked. I had asked for the amount of the bill 2 days before picking it up without result. Then had to pay a service charge for using a credit card because I didnt have a different form of payment. NEVER AGAIN! I wish I could give no stars.

1 star is the lowest rating, otherwise it would be worse, judging by the rest of the reviews I dont need to go into much detail of why this place should be run out of business. Reused old parts and sold them as new, broke multiple parts that I found out later down the road, transmission mount bolts, broke the bell housing case,ECT. Place is a joke ill be spreading the word.
Wandered in to see what they would charge for replacing a horn switch that is embedded in the steering wheel airbag. They were $100 cheaper than the other 3 shops I had visited. They now repair all 3 of my vehicles including my Mercedes. Very honest bunch. Would recommend them to my mother or best friend. There is a reason their lot is frequently full.
The owner is a thief. Owner never paid my son his last paycheck after he quit.
Repair took forever! Kept getting strung along! Will not be recommending to anyone and would not bring my transmission problems here!

I have had several cars repaired at this shop, always within time promised and appropriate pricing. Very pleased with the service. Its obvious these guys want to be around a long time.

Great team. I have brought my second truck there to have the transmission fixed. Problem was not fixed the first time and I brought it back. They found the problem and it was a small hair line crack in the piston housing. Even I could not see it after they showed me the faulty part. They managed to fix it and offered me a new truck to drive while it was being fixed. A+++ as they stand behind there work and they will not bs you around. They are professional and know what they are doing but you have to be patient when its a big job for them. Thanks and I will be referring others to your shop.

Brought my car in almost 4 months ago due to the 2nd piston going oUT in my transmission. You guys were able to help us out and that was awesome until it got to the point 4 months later when my transmission slipped and knowing we had a warranty from the last time we came in we decided to get the car back in the shop. I brought my car in may 9th, 2017 and they told us they wouldnt have gotten to it till the next couple days. I call on May 11th for a update and due to having high work load they told me they couldnt get to it till the following week. The following weeks comes along and I call them Tuesday may 16th to get an update since they said they wouldnt look at it till the day before. His response was we are going to get it up tomorrow may 17th. Today, may 17th my fiance calls in and the guy he speaks with tells him it will be looked at tomorrow, may 18th. I have been without my car for almost 2 weeks starting next Tuesday may 23rd. It is my only way of transportation and thought this would have been done or at least close to done. I know this is a three day process to fix but by God I didnt think it would have to take longer than that. When my fiance called today he got a lot of talk back from whoever he spoke with and a lot of attitude back at him. This is no way to run a business. If you want customers be customer friendly and know how to talk to YOUR customers. You guys better honor the warranty you gave us for our transmission. Because this is ridiculous. I could have brought my car somewhere else and would have gotten it fixed faster, though I would have to worry about no warranty. I spent around $3,000 to fix the issue. Yes the $3,000 wasnt the full amount for what was fixed on the transmission due to other issues on the car. We could have gotten a whole new transmission put in the car but instead entrust in you guys to fix my transmission. And the fact that everytime I want an update on the car, they wouldnt reach out to me. I had to reach out each time to see what is going onThis is horrible customer service. Learn how to treat your customers right and fair.

You be the judge, why would he have to review his own shop to boost the rating? (See review by Harm Alken below. I would avoid this place at all costs, avoid this place like the plague, trust me.*****Experience is ongoing. Ill be more than happy to rescind my negative review in the event this shop seeks to rectify the situation.Short Summary: Poor service. Delays that are not met with a resolution. Owner is threatening, defensive, condescending and dishonest. Head Mechanic, Eric, is a pleasure to work with. Theres no doubt these guys are experienced, but the second something goes wrong they turn their back on you and treat you like the bad guy.Long Summary: I had transmission rebuilt in February of this year. First issue came up when I was given a torque converter not compatible with my car. First solution was to have to buy a new flexplate, actual solution ended up being a new torque converter that worked. Upon install of the trans, I brought it back because it wasnt shifting right. I was told this is just the nature of the shift kit that was installed, and was sent on my way. Immediately after leaving the shop I noticed a mysterious leak coming from the front. This leak wasnt present for the 3 months between installing the trans and first bringing it back to the shop.When I brought this up to the owner, Harm, I was met with a condescending, defensive, and all around unpleasant person who immediately resorted to pointing the finger back at me. After keeping the car for two weeks the only answer I got was that I needed to take the trans back off so he can look at it. -OR- I can pay even more money for them to do that for me, but advised that it MIGHT be under warranty. He then proceeded to call me childish, and imply this was sabatoge (his words, not mine), simply for wanting documentation of our conversations. What do you have going on there where youre unwilling to put things in writing, Harm?This shop is dishonest, they do poor work, and are unwilling to listen to feedback. Any feedback that is not positive is met with threatening attitude and condescending rebuttals for why its Not on us. Ive been to this shop, called, and emailed 10+ times from start to finish trying to get this worked out, and the only resolution given at this point was to charge me more money to look at it.If you decide to go here, dont fall into Harms Pay me cash with no tax and well do it cheaper, he wont give you a receipt and will later question you on how much you paid, and imply youre lying. He has no record retention and keeps no record of your service, in the event something goes wrong.Harm, when/if you read this, you may reference the case sent to you from the Better Business Bureau. Again, if no resolution is given, I am happy to continue escalating as necessary. Ball is in your court, Sir.

That place is suck, they rip people off, my car broke down, they tow it, was trying to charge 1200 dollars for the job they did, but my car still wont starts. i told them that im not going to pay since its not working, so they put my old parts back and they charged me 600 dollars just for the time they spend. its very slow, and unprofessional shop. btw i fixed my car in other shop few days later for just 99. it was just some wire loose.NEVER GO TO THAT PLACE!!!!!!!
Had a family member come here based on a recommendation and got terrible service, from the stories Ive heard I have no choice but to give one star.
