Rude employee- company wouldn’t respect its own return policy. Plenty of quality bike shops in the area, including Oak City Cycling in downtown Raleigh, would encourage anyone reading this to take their business elsewhere. Have never written an online review before but this one deserved it.
The guys at the shop were super helpful and friendly. They found me a bike and got it sent over from their warehouse and built up super quick. Very thankful and can’t wait to get out there and get to riding it. Thanks All Star!
Due to pandemic shortages of bicycles I drove from NYC to N Carolina to get my new ride! Shop held my bicycle for months, until I could get down there. When I finally did, salesman took his time getting me fit as well as possible. I found communications with the shop to be responsive and professional. Every bicycle shop is currently very busy, inundated with orders, and struggling with snags in bicycle manufacturer supply lines. I can recommend All Star as a solid choice, that offers very good support.
Management has been sold out to big conglomerate, so anywhere is better than this place. Unhelpful!!
Very helpful employees, great service. Seemed like a good selection of bikes, too, even with the bicycle shortage were seeing currently.
Returning a bike after 2 weeks with receipt and zero uses resulted in a $356 restocking penalty even though a selling point from staff was that I could change my mind within 30 days. The rationale given was that the bike had gone on sale since they sold it to me. How is that something I should be penalized for? I only give two stars because the first guy I spoke with was extremely helpful and patient (considering myself and the friend I was with knew so little about bikes). After spending over $5500 combined on 3 bikes I didnt expect to be treated so poorly or lied to. I intended to buy a different bike from a closer location at a later date, this is no longer the case.
I was mountain biking and ran off the trail into a tree. One of my spokes came loose from the center of my tire. I called a few shops and All-star bike shops was sounding the best to me as they said they would likely be able to fix it by the end of the week (it was Monday). I brought in my wheel and the guy there told me they would probably be able put the current spoke back in. He said it should be done by today or tomorrow which I was happy about because I was expecting later than that. I was planning on picking it up the next day since I had stuff to later in the afternoon. Not 2 hours after I got home, I got a call saying it was done. Super fast service! I was able to pick it up and on top of that only had to pay $26 which was less than I was expecting. 5/5!
Employee was rude. When he said they dont carry the parts we needed and we asked of there was possibly another shop that did he said yep but wouldnt offer any information as to where we might find one that did.
I was charged $95 for a basic tune up. I brought in 2 bikes. I asked for additional services ( mud guard and new cassette and new chain) which according to the website they would need to give me an estimate before they started. I never received the call. They forgot the add-ons and had they called me and said they can only do the tune up, I would have declined, especially at $95.My cassette still had grease on it and I couldnt tell if anything had really been done to my bike. I invested in some bike tools and replacing my cassette along with the bike tools was cheaper than a tune up. Seriously a quick 30 second blast of brake cleaner gets the grease off and then re-lube everything. Over all I was very dissatisfied and felt taken advantage of. Im going to care for my own bikes now.
They act like they do not want your business here... go elsewhere.
They charged $11.50 for a single generic brake cable and 16 of housing cut off the spool. Jag Basic cables are listed for $2.99 on their website but for some reason they double the price if you buy it in person.
All the staff wanted was to put my brother on a bike outside his price range and pushed him toward a frame style he didn’t want. Staff was short yet knowledgable but not very helpful. I will not be doing business here.
Went there today to look at bikes as I was in town from out of state. There are three shops I believe. Went to the first one on Falls of Neuse Road and was properly greeted and helped and allowed to walk the store. Go to the one on Ridge road and was first told only one person at a time due to covid. Understood. Then another employee comes out and asks a customer in front of me what did he need. The guy looked like he just came from work and wanted to look at a bike and helmet for his daughter. The employee asks, “what kind of bike and helmet?” The customer explains that he doesn’t know he would like to look at some. The employee says he couldn’t come in the store after we were all told one person at a time can go in the store. The customer says forget it and walks off. I was then asked what did I need. I said I just wanted to look inside and he said we aren’t letting anyone in. I said the other employee just said it’s one at a time. He ignores me and then starts talking to another customer. I brought it back to his attention and asked him which one is it? Is it one at a time or nobody can go in? He then asked me what did I need. I said you know what...forget it and walked off. First off, I understand the situation with covid but the rudeness was completely unacceptable and uncalled for. I also understand bikes are selling like crazy so maybe they don’t need a few peoples to buy their bikes but it’s all about relationships and customer service. After that experience, I would never buy from this shop! I’m from NC so I look for bikes all over the state but after the customer service I just saw, never again! Go to the one on Falls of Neuse Road! I got so much better service and personality!
Quick friendly service rendered in emergency to repair a wheelchair flat tire. In roughly 10 minutes (with no appointment) the tire was fixed for cheap cost. Thanks All Star !
If you want to feel dumb come here. My favorite part was when I pronounced my bike name incorrectly and the guy rolled his eyes. I’ve been really excited about learning how to fix up my bike, until now.
Staff is unbelievably rude!
Great bike shop with super friendly staff thats willing to do whatever they can to help you find a bike that perfect for you or fix the one you already have
So helpful! Thanks David!
I go online to specialized and shows near by location with the bike i wanted in stock. Called this place asked if they realy had it. Cause online on specialized it clear states Specialized Fuse in stock. 08/2020And guy on the phone said it with an attitude-No we havent had that in months- im like oh maybe its the cary location and shoots me down-“ no if we dont have it they dont have it. Psh false advertizing
All Stars? More like two stars. I had decided not to leave this review but just had another set of friends have a negative experience with this shop (except the one in Quail Corners) so I decided to write. I bought my first bike through these guys years ago and had a good experience. I came back recently to get another bike tuned up and every time I walked in the shop the feeling I got was pretty unwelcoming. I left the bike for a basic break adjustment anyway and I wish I had gone with my gut. The request for the break adjustment seemed to be a bother to the tech and it ended up being at least two weeks before I got the bike back even though it was promised in less time. There was a lot of back and forth about replacing the breaks, repairing the breaks, etc. and I had to initiate most of that communication. I wish they had just said they couldnt fix it and I could have taken it some where else. They did only charge me for a break tune up even though they used some new parts which I appreciated. There is probably a better bike shop out there, or at least one that seems happy to see you. Id go with that one.
Really friendly staff and super knowledgable. I cant count the number of times I went in here with a question and got it answered right away, or a minor tweak on my bike fixed no charge.
Second bicycle weve purchased from this shop. My wife had a bad experience at one of the other locations, but weve had a good experience with helpful caring staff and working to get the right bike for us. Prices were good, and the team worked with me to come up with no cost solution to a size specific problem with the new bike.
Great service. One day I came in to get some buying advice for a bike online. I talked to manager of the shop for a good thirty minutes comparing bikes he didnt even sell. They took the time to make a happy human and help someone simply because they wanted to not because it would make them more money. The go to bike shop for service
The staff was rude.
Great customer service! Thanks Sarah...
Came in to get a quick derailleur adjustment during a ride. Took under 5 minutes, was charged 16 dollars. I was also treated rudely when trying to understand what/how the adjustments were made and asked to move out of the way. I highly recommend Cycle Logic or Oak City Cycling Project as alternatives.
I continue to be impressed with All Star... when I was shopping for bikes they let me ride and ride and ride, bike after bike after bike, making sure I got the right fit. They even assembled a bike that was still in the box for me to ride (thats the one I bought), and made adjustments in between test rides for me... very thorough, very helpful, and not the least bit pushy.TODAY THOUGH was what inspired me to write a review.I had a bit of an emergency/issue with my front derailleur on Sunday, and I have to leave for a race in a few days... I tried to fix it myself and just made it worse. I brought it in today just hoping they could squeeze it in over the next 48 hrs. The guy said he had a few minutes, he took it right then and there... fixed the problem... explained to me how to properly adjust it next time (so I didnt mess it up again), and gave a quick tune-up while he had it, since he knew I was leaving for a race. They were so helpful, efficient, and knowledgeable.... and a sincere good luck at the tri dude on the way out really topped it off.You really cant beat the service.... THANK YOU
Out riding and was low on air. Found this place a few miles away and started peddling. The guys hooked me up without a second thought. Great shop and awesome people. Thanks guys.
Knowledgeable staff. Good selection. Lots of inventory for such a small store so it can be a bit crowded/tight, but they will probably have what you need in stock.Good location and bike lanes right on Ridge Road for you to test ride - super convenient.
I recently had this shop convert my gravel wheels from tubeless to tube. I called the shop prior to coming in for pricing and I was told that the tubes would be $6/each and that labor would be $5/each if I brought just the wheels in (already removed from the bike). When I picked the wheels up I was charged $36 before tax ($14 more than I was told this would cost). I mentioned the price I was given and the employee didnt care...said that my tires took longer because it took awhile clean the tubeless sealant out of my tires. Um yeah, no kidding...they knew they had to clean that sealant out anyways since its part of the conversion! The work was done rather quickly and was done well (only thing worth the 2 stars). Needless to say, all of the negative reviews about this shop providing a specific price and charging more later on or being overall deceptive are spot on. Spend your money elsewhere! We have plenty of other honest bike shops in the area!
I have recently visited this bike shop and I will definitely return. I was their to purchase a couple accessories for my bike on two separate occasions. In each visit, the staff, Bryan and Sarah, were very helpful. I was a very satisfied customer when I left both times. I would definitely recommend this bike shop!
I was charged $95 + taxes for a basic tune up for a newly assembled bike, which Im sure was a job that could be done within 30 minutes. And I had to wait for almost a week to pick it up. The guys who work there were too cool to serve customers and didnt even bother to try to explain what they did for the tune up or why the price was ridiculously high.
Ive purchased several bikes and accessories from this store. It is always my go-to service spot as well. The staff is very knowledgable, particularly Jacob, who is an obsessive and thorough bike mechanic. If youre serious about cycling, then you cant go wrong here. I love my local bike shop.
Came in to have my old LOOK pedals worked on. The guy was very chill and awesome as he worked on them right in front of me. I was in and out in no time. Id recommend them to anyone looking to get service done. Looking around the shop, they have a wide variety of bikes & accessories at very reasonable prices.
This shop is in a great location and has a lot bicycle choices including e-bike. The staff is extremely knowledgable and helpful.
A nice selection of bikes, (mostly Specialized Brand), however, I did not find a lot of downhill / free ride apparel. And they do not deal / carry Santa Cruz products.
Just purchased a bicycle from this store. Great place to purchase your new ride. Employees provided me with great service and answered all the questions I had. They even took time and assembled a bike for me for a test ride.
Ive checked out a few of the local bike shops in the triangle area and to date this is by far the best one. The shop itself is pretty small, but they always have what I need. And theyre always glad to do special orders for things like cases of inner tubes.Pretty much every time Ive visited this shop theyve gone out of their way to make sure my questions were answered and I found what I was looking for or knew where to look for it when I left. For example, I had a Salsa stem I thought may be part of a recall. They called the manufacturer and made absolutely certain my stem was not one of the ones in question.Their prices might be higher than if you purchase the same thing online, but love local bike shops and think theyre worthwhile to support.
Great experience, knowledgeable staff and mechanic 👌🏽 Would recommend 100%
Helpful, knowledgeable, friendly staff. Good selection of bikes and accessories.I brought in an old bike for a tune-up. The staff explained to me all the work and helped fit me with a new helmet. Ive been intimidated in bike shops before, but not at all here. These guys are nice.
Highly suggest going somewhere else! I came here because I found a $10 off coupon in an ad and just needed to get a new seat post for my bike and a longer handlebar stem. When I arrived at the shop, I told the man behind the desk about what I needed done. He reluctantly came out to look at my bike (while grossly eating a banana) and continued to tell me how what I wanted to do didn’t make sense and it wasn’t plausible and it would cost me atleast $150 and I should just get a new bike. He kept pointing out all the these major flaws and tried to make me feel incompetent for not being a bike guru. I later took my bike to Oak City Cycling (who I highly recommend) and they were able to do everything I wanted and much more (new seat, new pedals, etc.) for about $100 total. Oh yeah, the guy at this bike shop NOTICED MY HANDLE BARS ON MY BIKE WERE INSTALLED UPSIDE DOWN AND ALL THE GEARS WERE BACKWARDS. So he fixed that. I guess the Bike Genius at All star must have missed that at bike school. Go to Oak City. You won’t regret it.
Though they couldn’t help me, they kindly directed me to someone who could. Heroes!
I have been to this shop multiple times. The service I have received has always been great and the workers very knowledgeable. Definitely recommend!
Great service. More than willing to give free advice and little fixes here and there. Always welcoming and super helpful.
I was in just to get some stuff for my new bike. I waited for about 30 min while the only salesperson was spending an excessive amount of time with another customer. In the meantime, plenty of other customers that came in to pick up a bike from the shop had a zero wait time. So if you are looking to buy a new bike or get one repaired, go ahead. If you are looking to get some stuff after the fact, good luck on getting service. I drove too far to only leave the store to be ignored and not actually buy anything.
Love the guys here. They didnt try to sell me ANYTHING. They fixed my tire for free. Very helpful people!
I had a puncture, called and the guy working there said it will take no longer that 30 min. Whent, got my bike fixed, now Im happy. In Serious terms, 10/10 ill get my bike fixed there again. The guy working there was cool. he even went out of his way to hold a customer to do my bike repair.
Needed a spoke, guy meets me at the door, says they cant help me and that was it. obviously had no experience working on bikes!......SO I recommend you GO to Cycle Logic in two minutes had my spoke and was on my way. All-Star was snotty and clueless, Cycle Logic very friendly and helpful, a competent place to shop.
Knowledgeable and helpful mechanics. Fair pricing and good selection.
Brought a bike to All Star on Ridge Rd to have them bleed the brakes and replace a broken bolt on a Wednesday. Was told it will be ready early the following week. Fine. Called the following Wednesday and was told that the brakes needed a DOT fluid that they had to get from an autoparts store and they needed to order a bolt. I asked it they could at least bleed the brakes over the next 24 hours for a 2pm Thursday pickup. NOPE. Guess the 5 minute drive to a autopart store is not worth my business - I own 12 bikes and I know where I will NOT be going next. Avoid this place, MANY MANY better shops in the area - including the Cary location.
Poor communication skills and not very friendly.
My family has been going to AllStar for all our bicyle needs for five years now. Through them we have bought new bikes, repaired old ones, bought helmets, gloves and other equipment, and even trailer hitch mount equipment. In each and every case they have been unfailing polite and helpful, even being very flexible with letting me swap out parts for an especially problematic hitch mount issue. They just refurbished my wifes 15+ year old bike; when she asked if she should just buy a new one instead, they were complimentary of her bike and said it was definitely worth keeping with just a little work, rather than trying to sell us a new one! I highly recommend AllStar bikes; I dont go anywhere else for my bicycle needs.
I am not a bike person. I went in looking for a birthday present for my niece. The gentleman was friendly and seemed knowledge.
The people were nice enough, but they tried to charge me $40 to put on front and back brake pads. I went over to Cycle Logic where they doing it for half. Not only was it going to be double of what it should be, they said it would take a week. A WEEK. For two pair of brake pads. I just got back from Cycle Logic and they said I can come back in an hour. All Star is overpriced and unrealistic with their timing.
Helpful and friendly staff. Small shop with multiple locations.
I agree with reviews, that they are nice and knowledgeable, but are a bit pricey, it could just be the neighborhood....lots of people in that area dont need to be concerned with prices. They are in business to make money..sooooo.....:)
Helpful and friendly
Very helpful people.
Rude staff.
Excellent visit to this LBS. Folks went out of the way to assist me and even loosened up my BMX bottom bracket for no charge. I will make it a point to shop here just for that reason alone.
Excellent help. Very friendly
Went in for a bike helmet for my toddler. Rude as could be.
