Really nice Friendly Local Gaming Store. This is the place in Raleigh if you want to shop locally for your favorite table top games. Been there a few times and each time, we were helped by knowledgeable and friendly people.I am mainly into Table Top RPGs and they have a good selection of the classics along with a few smaller indie games. They have a great selection of table top games and I know that they have a slate of events throughout the week where you can attend and play games with people with similar interests. There are also all the trading card games there and I know that they have an ordering system for anything that they don’t have.One last thing. This place does NOT have a gatekeeping culture that can sometimes be associated with table top gaming. From what I have seen it is a very welcoming and open community that shops and plays here so hopefully if that is a concern, this will help to ease it.I couldn’t recommend this place more!

Been in store once and won’t return… the price gouging in INSANE. Pokémon products are 2-3x retail (for example $300 for a product retailing at $120, $50 for a product retailing at $20… the list goes on). And the sad part is most of these items are readily available at stores like Walmart, Target and GameStop for these retail prices. Or you can buy them on Facebook or eBay for more than retail but cheaper than Game Theory. Very disappointed. Save your money. Don’t waste your time with these guys and buy elsewhere.

Went in today trying to find some new board games. Wayne was able to answer my questions and made some suggestions for games that Im excited to play with my family and friends. Looking forward to going back and finding some new games!

Was in the shopping center and saw the store, walked in excited to see new the new Magic cards from the past 20 years as I played back in the day in middle school. Bought a box for nostalgia purposes to have a fun sunday opening packs of cards reminiscing on my childhood. Was a little sticker shocked when they rung me up at $140, but thought oh well, inflation. Looked up boxes of midnight hunt innistrad online to find them as low as $90. Lesson learned, wanted to make other folks aware before they get duped.

I spent almost 8 seconds in the store before someone rushed out screaming at me, telling me I needed to wear a mask. I explained that I had a deformity that made mask wearing impossible for me (And I even had a plainly visible breathing-assistance apparatus on my face). He said I dont care, you still have to wear a mask. *Sigh* just one more place that is insensitive to the disabled. The irony is that, there is little we disabled can do other than play games, so you would think gaming stores would be particularly empathetic...but not this one.

I didnt know it when I first started going to Game Theory, but it is a true gem of a game store, filled with incredibly friendly staff and a great selection. I could have found slightly cheaper prices online or even at other stores in the area, but I chose to continue shopping at Game Theory because their vibe and people were top notch. They are the type of game store Im incredibly proud to represent on a t-shirt or a playmat, both of which I do regularly.

This is an excellent game store! It has a lot of space that they put to good use. They have an immense board game area - I tried to do it justice in my pictures but I probably fell short - that we just spent over 45 minutes browsing. They also have a lot of role playing games and miniture games, too. The staff is super-great and their open gaming area is huge and has a sizable game library that you can play to try, too.

Doesnt even deserve one star with how we were treated today by the OWNER of the shop themselves! I am absolutely disgusted! One, We came all the way from Benson, granted I understand they were busy with Friday night magic but the attitude we were given first hand was totally disrespectful! Two the guy at the front counter, red headed bearded guy told us to come back to try to sell our cards around 8:30pm to 9pm which my brother in law and his friend did so and drove all the way back up to Raleigh from Benson again just to be told to sit at a table and thumb through the cards to see which were valuable and then to be told by the OWNER that they had to make an appointment. I was told by my fiancé that his brother was fuming because of how disrespectful and rude the Owner was. They will never be getting our business again and furthermore my fiancé has been a customer of theirs for 15 to 17 years! I was outraged when I heard this. I too have also spent 400 in one sitting with them before. I can assure you that I rarely ever go on a rampage like this but how we were treated today I just hope the company loses some business ormakes some changes in how they handle their customers! Customers always first!

And their rewards program is great for people like us who spend a lot of money on games each year. We buy all of our rpg supplies and board games here.

Nothing about the store in general. I went to look at some single mtg cards because shops like this are few and far between. Drive over 30 mins to get there to be told I have to look/order online then pick then up in store. Ummmm....if Im gonna do that Ill hit up tcg for competitive pricing and shipped to me. Sorry not sorry, wasted time and gas money for a bust of a visit when I could spend shipping and have it sent to my house. I do my best to support local but damn

I lived in Raleigh for a year. I was introduced to Game Theory through a friend and quickly became a regular. I worked there during the day when I worked from home, I frequented for board games nights, dnd nights through adventurers league, met a former girlfriend there, etc. I love the staff, the people there, their selection, & their prices. It will forever have a warm place in my heart and I always try to stop by when Im in the area. Great place.

We found this place by an accident, when we went to Raleigh for the day. They carried many different board games, sleeves, deck boxes, play mats, packs, singles, dice and card games. My husband was able to pick up a new deck from Vanguard for his friend and I got a huge deck case for us for $60. The people they have working there are very nice and they dont have a minimum that you have to pay with a debt card. We will plan to go back in the near future.

Unfortunately I can never go back it seems as I have asthma and got asked to go for not having a mask that would cause me to pass out in the store....just wanted a model and paint.... I was five seconds from paying befor they were not so nice voice told me if I it was store policey i had to put on one. Also if there was concern about covid he should not came 6 feet around me(which I was making sure to keep around the other shoppers to be nice). Yep guess that thousands dollars of stuff we have bought there over the years means nothing. The city allows exemptions to not where masks for people with asthma in the order.

Game Theory has been my local game store for over 10 years. Theyve had a consistent, amazing staff for as long as Ive gone there. They are set up well to handle social distancing and take amazing care of our gaming needs from afar.Thank you to the staff for years of providing a safe space to be my nerdy self, heres to many more years when we can play there again.

Nice store with a great layout and a lot of interesting and fun looking products. They stock up with some very cool stuff that most stores wouldnt. The staff is friendly and helpful. I came to shop for Magic cards while visiting the area. I will say that their Magic singles prices were just a bit higher next to the prices I had quoted from another store, but they had some cards that the other store didnt. Overall, seems like a cool spot to get in some games with friends and find some unique stuff to play.

I went in yesterday to buy some games. Great store, great selection, great prices... The staff actually know about the games they sell which is pretty impressive due to the amount of games they carry. They have games that cover all age brackets... If you want to support local business, and need to buy a game this is the place. Also - pick up some Tacos down the street at Los Dos Toquitos.

The people that work here are awesome and really helpful and knowledgeable. My wife and I came looking for some games we could play with our kids and came away with a wealth of suggestions.The demo games they have available for play testing are great, since our kids were staying with relatives for the week, my wife and I ended up going there nearly every day to play or buy games.It is also a great place to meet other gamers and to play games, as they have a bunch of tables set up all the time and host regular events at the store, and even when there arent events going on, it seems people are always playing games.The variety of games available is also incredible. I highly recommend this store.

Ive been there a few times earlier this year but this is the first time it has been in uncertain times. They were very nice then and very nice now, always offering help, and advice, theyre gamers and not just businessfolk. Everyones got a mask, most seem to know each other, its like the gamers version of Cheers. I havent played there but they seem to have tournaments and campaigns and game nights. Oh also, tons of stuff, minis, rpgs, comics, card games of all kinds, paints and dice and everything else you could need. Great place.

This place is always packed Friday through Sunday, and most evenings. The owner and staff are very knowledgeable and always willing to help. If they dont have something theyll order it for you. They even have a section of board games for you to try out before purchasing which is awesome. At Barnes and Noble if you purchase a game, try it and dont like it, youre stuck with it. Not here.

Great place. Been going here since they first opened in a tiny location. Theyve moved twice since then and gotten bigger and better each time. Great selection of games, and lots of active communities and events. Located near several food choices, they also have reasonably priced snacks in store. One of my favorite things is they have a rotating stock of board games you can borrow and play for free (to play in-store, not take home). I think they will also lend you terrain for war gaming.Highly recommend going here.

I love this store. Excellent selection if youre looking for RPGs or for box games. The dice are so nicely organized and its easy to find what youre looking for. Everything is spaced out enough you can maintain distance. This is probably the cleanest and best lit game store Ive ever been in. No straining to read boxes in dark back corners and no ancient boxes covered in dust. If you like to browse and read the boxes this place is perfection. The staff was the real highlight. They were knowledgeable, friendly, just incredibly nice to interact with. Possibly the best part was they also give you space. Want to just browse? No pressure. Have a question? They were on the ball and available. I love store staff who are helpful but not intrusive and this team is possibly the best example I have ever seen. For the people I saw who were just dropping in to pick something up they were efficient and immediate. I asked for recommendations and got knowledgeable and insightful recommendations. The team here really seems like they love the games and community around them. Employees are super helpful. Love that the gaming area is kept separate from the bookcases full of games, so I can browse without worrying if I am disturbing the players. I drive about 45 minutes to come here, so I appreciate the extra loyalty discount. It helps a bit and I enjoy support them locally since they do a top knotch job. And their demo library has a great selection.

My friend and I are visiting, and it was raining today so we decided to pop on by as we love games.This store is massive. On the left side, when you enter, there are tons of tables set up for playing, and today there was a MtG tournament going on, so there wasnt any room for us to try out any demo games.But, if you turn to the right when you enter, you will see a ton of board games and tabletop supplies. Seriously, the collection was massive! It was also very varied, with games for kids, games for two players, and some typical party games.The staff was also very helpful as well.We will definitely return next time we are in town.

Appliance world was an excellent stop! The salesmen were knowledgeable, the environment was peaceful, and the whole experience was perfect. We had come from big box stores (Home Depot, Sears,...) where the base price was lower, but the installation and removal needed to be done at separate times with high charges (amounting to nearly as much as the dishwasher itself). Here they had an excellent contact that could handle the removal of our old dishwasher and installation for one charge (no need to buy installation kits, and handle multiple trips). We just purchased so we will definitely review the installation once it occurs. Best appliance buying experience!

Great selection of board games and table top games... great gathering point for players of various games to come together and play. Though it may be a bit noisy at times depending on what games are being played, the overall crowd is really good and those who are running the games are really friendly.

This is the worst game store Ive ever been to. Unhelpful staff, lied to me about prices and even after that I was willing to pay their outdated machines couldnt even take a card swipe or a chip read. Tried to pay with phone and it still wouldnt read. Ive tried on three occasions to give this place a chance and they always underperform ever time. Spend your money somewhere else thats worth it.

Game Theory is a wonderful store. They have been around since I was in college and they do right by their long term regulars which is essential to maintaining a healthy gaming store. They have a semi-annual yard sale type deal that they either invented or were one of the first to start around here and its so excellent for cycling unused games. They dont always run their more casual tournaments well but on the flip side the atmosphere and aesthetic of the place is unrivaled in this area.

Its a pretty cool store, however they are generally uninformed about covid 19 and the fact that they require face masks is ultimately a constitutional violation. Ill be sticking to hangar 18 and gamers armory as they have no such ridiculous restrictions.

I have gone to every gane shop I can find in Wake and Cumberland counties. This is my favorite. You can also make a Magic singles order on their website, and stop by the shop to pick it up same day. The shop has an open play area, it is very clean and well lit, great gaming selections and some cool table top accessories for your RPGs.

This is a wonderful local business. They have a fantastic selection of games and the staff is very knowledgeable. I have been able to find someone with experience each time that I have a question about a game.They also host board game nights, so people can schedule long-term games, or you can test play something you are interested in buying.

Fantastic local gaming store. I’ve been to all the game shops in the Triangle area and Game Theory is my favorite. Great selection of dice and miniatures and the friendliest staff I’ve met in a gaming shop. They go out of their way to make players feel welcome.

Played d&d with a great group of people. Loved that the store part had the mini figurine that we were looking for. Great options of dice, board games and such. Plenty of playing mats to choose from. Magic players had plenty of tables so it wasnt crowded! Will visit again when we move here! (We checked out other game shops in the area...this was our fav!)

Let me tell you about this place, its awesome. They have open tables for groups to go in and play, and if you grow tired of your MTG or D&D or what have you, they have plenty of games on a back shelf for you to play from. Between their snacks, environment and merchandise, Game Theory is a great place to while away the hours. And dont forget that every night they have a different event going on, including tutorials on how to play new games! Definitely a great place to release the inner nerd in all of us!

Game Theory has been my local hangout of choice for the past 5 years; local is a bit of a misnomer however- I drive from New Hill at least twice a week to come here. That should tell you how amazing this place is. The staff is always friendly, incredibly knowledgeable, and ridiculously helpful. Need a suggestion for a game? Have no idea what to buy your kid for Christmas? Just ask! These guys have a million and one suggestions and they make sure to listen to your individual needs to make sure they find a game thats right for you. Also the community is wonderfully warm; there is no tolerance for people acting like jerks. The staff offers demos of new games at least twice a week and there is guaranteed to be something going on every night of the week. Game Theory will be moving locations in December of 2016 (just across the street), as they have once again outgrown their location! Im looking forward to the new space and continuing my association with this amazing store for many years to come.

I love this place. The board game selection is phenomenal, MTG cards are always in stock, theres different events every night of the week. The board game librarys selection actually changes. They even have snacks for those of us with restrictions.Then theres the atmosphere. Everyone is welcoming. I love how inclusive the people here are. None of that normal cliquey gaming shop bs. The players are always ready to teach someone new their favorite game(s).

Was my first time visiting this Local Gaming Store and I have to say I was impressed. Staff was very knowledgeable and they had a wide selection of products. If only this shop was closer to wear I lived! Definitely will make the trip occasionally. Excellent shop!

Excellent store with plenty of space. Staff is friendly and passionate about everything gaming. Prices are comparable, but once you spend a certain amount you get discounts on all purchases! My biggest compliment has to be the cleanliness of the store AND bathrooms. There are few game stores that can maintain a clean environment with the patrons they attract (putting it delicately), that alone is worth 5 stars!

My wife and I love Game Theory! They host various games throughout the week, and their retail section has a good variety of games and supplements. The staff is friendly, and the atmosphere always feels comfortable. Theres even a back room that is possible to reserve for groups, with appropriate planning and coordination of course.
