Im rating my experience as a fine because of Trey. He stayed with us all the way in selecting the tiles, putting them together to see how it looks like and giving suggestions. We bought about $2,000 worth of tiles here.

Customer service is seriously lacking. The guy who helped me had no knowledge of what he was talking and when I tried to return the door I purchased for another one he wouldn’t help at all. Horrible customer service and doors are not that great as well.

Walked into the cabinet design services section of the Dallas location and Nancy was friendly and eager to listen and help me with my needs. I ended up with the special order Koville cabinets and could not be more satisfied. Not only was she able to beat out all the competition (I got 5 quotes!) on price and quality, everything was taken care of from Initial meetings to delivery. My contractor has been impressed with the quality of the cabinets too.I have nothing but amazing things to say about Nancy! She was very patient while I changed my mind a million times. She called me and walked me through taking the measurements which I needed in detail because I reused my existing counters. Its very evident she is very experienced in her field. She knew the design platform very well and sent me detailed pictures every time we changed the design up. My kitchen is exactly what i expected. I couldnt recommend Nancy or seconds and surplus more! Every need has been taken care it and every expectation has been exceeded. Please ask for Nancy when you need your next kitchen designed! You will not be disappointed!

I have been shopping all the local surplus stores and Seconds and Surplus isnt necessarily the worst, but they are definitely not the best.Half the time, no one greets me, and most of the time, if I am greeted, they just say good morning like Home Depot does, and thats it.Prices are decent, but other stores in the area, have either the exact same stuff or very similar for less.Plus, the other store, has so much better customer service!Good people work there, but the atmosphere just isnt there.

I ordered a door online and went to the Richardson location 1-1/2 hours later to pick it up.Nowhere on my order confirmation did it say that I must await an email confirmation that my order is ready to pick up,, yet the RUDE young lady at the counter told me they cannot pull my order until I receive email notification.I get it.  She doesnt want to be there on a Sunday.  Why do I (your customer) have to be penalized because she has a terminal case of I-dont-give-a-sh*t?There are 10+ employees and 3 customers on site.  No one has time to pull a paid order?Ridiculous.

Ive been a long time customer, but Randy and his boss Richard did me wrong. Last week I came in to order 4 slabs of granite ($1500) and Randy said that they could only hold it for 14 days. Since my install was scheduled for three weeks out, he told me to come back this week. When I did, I was told that the granite wasnt available and *I* would have to pay to have one of their guys deliver it from their Grand Prairie store. When I asked to speak to a manager, Richard said he was sorry they sold out, and I would be responsible to have it transferred to the Richardson store. When I explained that I had a hard install date, he said I would have to pay to get it delivered. I left. This isnt what I would call customer service.

Its a great place to window shop but they have higher pricing for items and installation prices can definitely be beaten.

Comparing Richardson store Vs. The Colony’s. Terrible customer experience at The Colony. Had to come here instead of the builders and surplus in Richardson because this was closer to me today; however I am heading to that one right now. What a difference! Talked to 3 different people while I was here, one more incompetent and less willing to help than the other. It was as if they didn’t care to make a sell. Told the second guy I would go to make a selection and come back to the cashier, he left and when I came back I was told he was the only person who could order a door for me. I waited for him, and after 15 min or so the third guy went looking for him only to be gone for good... 10 min later I decided if no one cared I had waited standing by the cashier for 25 min, I should take my business elsewhere.Richardson Store employees (talked to Demontre) were very helpful and nice. They didn’t mind taking time to explain things to me, and were willing to walk with me and show me whenever I needed help.Don’t bother coming here... go to the Richardson store!

I was extremely pleased with my purchases at Seconds and Surplus Building Materials today. I found exactly what I was looking for with the knowledgeable help of NATHAN. I thought the prices were very reasonable and the selection was by far better than the other places I’ve looked. I will not hesitate to go back there for any purchases I have in the future.

We went in looking for flooring. Although we did not find any that would work for us, we did find some tile for a backsplash and the sales people were quite helpful and friendly.

Went in two weeks ago for a French door with glass inserts. The Associate told me it would be a special order but they could do it. Picked up the “special order” two weeks later and it was covered in cardboard. Got it home and took the cardboard off- no windows- just a plain old door. Called today and was told they aren’t going to fix it or do any price adjustment because I drove off with it. Not only disappointed in the product but surprised that an ‘Assistant Manager’ (Brenda) would continuously point the finger at me saying I shouldn’t have drove off with it. Still can’t believe the way she talked to me...never in my life would I talk to a customer that way!

They were not helpful people. Im sure the prices are comparable less money. But I rather pay a little bit more for great customer service. Home Depot or Lowes would be my choice.

Seconds and surplus always has great deals on certain items and wonderful customer service.

I bought 1600 sq ft of wood plank tile for 1.49 sq ft that was advertised elsewhere on sale for 4.19 at major box stores. Even then they had 8 boxes remaining they didnt know what to do with so they just loaded it on my truck. Two boxes had been dropped and broken in the center so I used those for end pieces. Im very happy about the transaction and the tile was first rate, the fit and finish was spot on. Going to do cabinets next.

What an outstanding team! Not only got our flooring products at a great price, but they pulled every item we needed, loaded them and the one item that was out of stock...they called the distributor (which was local) and set it up for us to go to pick up directly from them. We run a small construction and renovation company and have been working with Lori at Seconds and Surplus almost exclusively for our hardware and design needs. Seconds and Surplus has an extensive collection of stone, granite, fixtures, vanities, you name it! Their products are always high quality, and can truly cater to any design. Lori is always available to answer questions and provide insight. We could not be happier with the amazing service provided to us by Seconds and Surplus and by Lori. Their company has made every project seem like a breeze and we are so thankful for their professionalism and expertise.

Decent selection and prices. A bit condescending and dismissive of females. Need to remember that we are capable at remodeling and building things too.

Purchased our new front door here and love it! They have a list of installers but we used our own guys for much less. Great prices but limited selection. If you find something you love, you better get it...it might not be there when you go back.

I purchased my cabinets from seconds and surplus. Eric from the kitchen Design center was extremely helpful and very patient with me in all the changes we made to the cabinets.Overall the cabinets ordered (Shiloh) was very clean and good quality. There a few things that was wrong but Eric called the manufacturer and replacement parts were ordered immediately and it arrived in time for the project to finish.If you are ever in the market for a kitchen redo do look at seconds and surplus.

Every time we go to this store we receive the best customer service. Oscar helped us buy some doors and he was incredibly personable and knowledgeable. Once purchased, he and his coworkers helped us by doing all of the heavy lifting and helped us secure it down in our truck. I cant recommend this store enough.

Lori has been totally amazing to work with!! I first used her services after purchasing a home that needed a total kitchen remodel. I basically gave Lori the drawing of the gutted kitchen and she designed it....I LOVE IT!! I then had her put cabinets in a rent house along with another home I purchased. The prices on tile at this place are really good. The countertops seem to be pretty good too. The cabinetry a little expensive, so we are going somewhere else for that. All in all they have quality stuff. I would recommend them.

Elizabeth with Seconds & Surplus was amazing! She sat down with us and helped us map out our kitchen. Her patience and skills with the program allowed us to finally visualize how we want our kitchen to look like! We went to IKEA, no help at all. We had to make an appt for someone to come out and do our measurements. We went on Lowes and Home Depots sites, but what they had in stock was limited and not very attractive. I am really impressed with Seconds & Surplus and with Elizabeth who demonstrated excellent customer service and who actually cared about the customer experience! This place is THE BEST. We recently purchased a home with an unfinished patio and knew we wanted to tile it. After lots of research and visiting several other stores, we stumbled across Seconds & Surplus. They have not only the best prices but a huge selection. Sharon Kellerhouse was extremely helpful, even after we asked her 1000 questions and came back to the store three more times. We were so happy with our decision to use them. Also, we got lots of great ideas for future updates to our new home just by walking by their displays. Go to Seconds & Surplus because you will overpay and miss out on some great customer service if you dont!

First Sam is an awesome at customer service unfortunately the greatness stops there! We bought laminated flooring for our house. As it was being installed the laminate started peeling off. When we returned it we were told that is what laminate does. This was not even the cheapest flooring! When I was telling the gentlemen that was unloading our van that there were two more boxes in front. They just looked at me and did not respond.We also bought vanities for our bathroom. When we got home and unwrapped them, they were cracked and beat up on the inside.Never again will we shop there. Cheap stuff with bad customer service.

Went in not knowing what we would find. My husband and I have bought out first flip house and looking to remodel from floor to ceiling. Met Sharon Kellerhouse and will never shop anywhere else. She spent days with us answering questions with never pressure to purchase. She is honest and sincere and was truly as excited about our new venture as we were. We went in last night to pick up all our flooring. They were very short handed and sheknew we couldnt wait long. She explained she was the only manager there so she might be pulled away but would actually load our purchase herself!! SHE got on a forklift and brought the product out for us so we didnt have to wait!!!! She is a perfect example of someone that truly wanted our business!! We have budgeted 45k for remodeling and I guarantee every penny will be spent in the Richardson Store!!

Bought 3 pieces of granite along with a deep sink, the granite did not match, I did not notice until after it was cut and installed. First time cleaning the sink, it faded/stained in center, looks like its years of and has been abused and its brand new. I should never have tried to save $s by shopping here, I never will again. as the saying goes, you get what you pay for.

Best value I town. Ive remodeled our kitchen in more than one house and always come to Seconds and Surplus. Reasonably priced, professional advice and great service.

Brought this door from the Richardson location. After showing the receipt to the front desk, we waited 45mins before someone brought the door to us. After installing the frame to the house and got to installing the locks we noticed the two holes for lock and handle wasnt centered to the holes for the bolt on the door. Since it wasnt aligned we werent able to lock the door for the night and had to put the couch against the door. Called Richardson location on Saturday and they notified they cant do anything until the door manager comes in on Monday. with a couch leaning against the door that was not an option. they took my number down and informed a manager will call me back since no one was available. 3 hrs go by and I called back, got in touch with manager Lenny and explained the issue. after going back and forth we agreed to bring the door in without the frame since the frame is already installed. He said he will have to measure it and compare to the one they had. if the measurement is wrong he said we can exchange the door. Once we got to the location, measurement wasnt needed, you can put a finger through and know it was not correct. Lenny said it is wrong and exchange the door. he asked can you all exchange it within 30mins. He wanted us to unscrew the good door from the frame in stock and screw the bad door to the frame. How do you ask your customer to do your job after selling a bad product??? Fine, asked him for a screwdriver to do his job he decided to argue and start saying im playing some game. He said it was inconvenience for him....well you know whats inconvenience, having a blanket to cover your door at the house while I took the door to the store as well having to put a couch against the door over night. So dont talk to me about inconvenience. after getting a screwdriver from one of the employee we switched the door. its bad when one of your employee bad to apologize for the action of your manager. Worst customer service i have ever experienced. Thank you to the employee who help us (sorry we didnt get your name). Stay away from this location and the company.

Prices are lower, but sometimes theres not enough supply. Many employees there are hesitant to help you. Its like they dont want your business or something.Good thing is I managed to find the supply I need and at a lower price elsewhere.

Ordered and paid for a door back in SeptemberDoor still isn’t in. The store has never called me once to let me know what’s happening.I keep getting the story that it’s on the next delivery. If you need something now use someone else.

Slow as heck service wise but ok products

As we returned home, after being away for a few weeks, we discovered 5 rooms of our home had flooded due to a severe leak. We felt overwhelmed with the aspect of remodeling. Thats when LORI TILLEY came to our rescue. Her friendliness, expertise, professionalism, product knowledge, patience, ability to listen and genuine concern helped us tremendously in designing our kitchen remodel. In this day and time, its such a blessing to find a large company who truly cares for their customers -- not just in what they say but in how they show it! Lori patiently went the extra mile as we struggled over colors, cabinets choices, etc. but we never dreamed how much until the store was about to close. Knowing her kitchen design co-worker had left about the time we arrived, I thanked her for her being so kind and helping us even though I suspected she may have stayed alittle late. To our complete surprise, she said she was actually suppose to leave two hours earlier! Her body language, her mood, her tone, her effort never once gave us the impression that she needed to leave! I highly recommend Seconds & Surplus not only for their vast selection, their prices, but for the way they care and treat their customers.

Great place to get what you need for DIY home projects and remodeling at great prices.

I am extremely disappointed with the bathroom cabinets and kitchen facets that I purchased and had installed. The sink bowels fell from the cabinet or just came apart. The bowel was lightly glued to the counter top and was not secured. I have 2 that came apart. The kitchen facet stopped working and no longer functions. This is all happening less than a year of purchase. I purchased thousands of dollars of home items and so disappointed.

I can get the same stuff cheaper at Lowes. And not all scuffed up. Most items were scuffed up

S&S gives the impression you can save money but what a nightmare to work with, even with their finance company which was a whole other story and should have been a sign to go elsewhere but like everything else we found with S&S, they dont care. Employee L we found out later has a reputation for being an idiot and messing things up. Our order was placed for kitchen cabinets with her at the beginning of last Nov. Expecting a 3-4 week turnaround we were surprised to hear her say it would not be done until the week of Christmas. Our Contractor called S&S manager and we were told they would see what they could do to speed it up. Fine, even though we knew nothing would happen (and we were right). Right after Christmas, a call was made to find out where our cabinets were, L said it would be mid January and that she never told us it would be Dec, even though she told us and our contractor the same thing, just denials no apology and through the process never taking any responsibility. Eventually the cabinets came in and they were wrong. The one thing we told her we wanted was easy close cabinets and drawers, none were done correctly (she blamed our contractor stating he approved it, contractor never gave any such approval). One of the cabinets wasnt even close to a fit so our contractor had to recut and fix the cabinet we just paid for. L and the management were not concerned and never was there an apology or an effort to correct their horrible customer service. In fact one of the frosted glass cabinets was scratched and they were to replace it, a month later we called to get a status and were told by L, Oh I forgot. Again no apologies or efforts to make amends. This was our first and last time using S&S. I am appalled at the horrible staff working there and the fact that other people know who we are talking about says a lot about how poorly managed this store is, apparently this employee has a reputation for bad service and nothing has been done about it. You would think with such a mess made by their employee, management would have at some point reached out to at least apologize. The cost would have been worth it for good service and a good product (which we got neither) but what little if any savings might have been made in using them was not worth the long frustrating process. Now I know why so many people only shop at S&S once. Save yourself the frustration and dont do it.
