Great desserts if you love Japanese vibes. I say this because their desserts are not drowning in sweetness and sugar but this is exactly what you can expect for Japanese desserts. I had the house special fluffy pancakes and loved how fluffy they were and the lemon custard filling was my favorite part.I also tried the blossom crepes and the coconut sticky rice was delicate and well done and complimented the kiwi and passion fruit well. Not a super sweet dessert but very delicate and didn’t leave you feeling heavy and full.Fresh fruits were included on both desserts and this was definitely noted.
Fun experience at Doki Doki! Ive been wanting to try them out for a long time since seeing a post on TikTok about it. Love that theres a Japanese Dessert option, and such a cute location. Love the anime decor and the cute little seating area on the deck in the building. I forget the names of the dishes, but we all enjoyed what we had 👍
Found this place after searching for desserts in downtown Salt Lake City. Small place with about 8 tables. Came in on a Saturday late afternoon and was not crowded. I mustve been lucky though as shortly after sitting down, there were about 8 people in line. Cashier was very friendly and helpful. Ordered a little bit of everything to try. Living in Japan for many years, its always good to try Japanese restaurants and bakeries in the US cities.Ordered the blossom crepe, strawberries and cream crepe, mango crepe cake, mango cookie, and tiger blood hombre drink. She immediately brought out the crepe cake and cookie since they were already made. Although already made, they still tasted very fresh, soft, and delicious. The layers of the crepe cake were amazing and impressively thin. Tasted of fresh mango and not mango flavoring. Within 10 minutes, the crepes arrived. They were plated and presented with an amazing level of detail and perfection. Just like in Japan, the presentation is everything. Just as good as the presentation was the taste. Both crepes were very good and I wouldnt say one was my favorite. Both were equally as good, it came down to what taste you preferred. The hombre drink was a mix of watermelon, strawberries, and coconut. I particularly enjoyed the fresh coconut flakes and the strawberry pieces.Id highly recommend coming here for desserts, especially if youre in the mood for Japanese desserts. The level of detail was equally matched with the tastes.
Honestly a bit disappointed. The flavor options were very limited by having only 1 choice of fruit, sauce, and crunch topping and not any of the choices would really combine well with each other. Ended up getting passion fruit with graham cracker crust and mango. Flavor was pretty bland besides a hard hit of sour from the passion fruit sauce. The texture of the Mochi waffle wasnt what I was expecting. Crispy only at the bottom and maybe a little burnt while the rest of the waffle just flattened over minutes.
Absolutely delightful! The food was delicious and the decor was precious. It appealed to the queer nerdy millenial in me on all fronts. I went first with some friends and immediately took my partner the next day. The staff were friendly both times and I could not have been more pleased.I was worried going in that I was setting my expectations too high, but they not only met, but exceeded my hopes.
My first time ever having a crepe cake! I was super intrigued on how a crepe cake would taste like, especially how my foodie friends loved chatting about this place and the wonderful flavors of the crepe cakes.I finally tasted the passion fruit crepe cake (I bought like four slices of it, makes up almost a cake size right?!). I’m (proudly) ashamed that I ate three of the four slices….hahaha! The passion fruit flavor is so wonderful and just gives your taste buds a party in your mouth! The cake itself is not super sweet, slightly sweet and the passion fruit gives it a perfect balance of tart to the slight sweetness, which really makes u just want to keep eating it and eating it - trying to come up with the perfect conjecture of what is exactly happening with this wonderful combination. The owner, Irie, is as sweet as they come! Super friendly and just so down to earth! I’ve had the pleasure of meeting her when she came up to an event in Orem and in Pleasant Grove. Visited the store front once and looking forward to the next!
Wow! I still have cravings for this. You can put dark chocolate syrup, Nutella, and biscoff cookie crumbles all on a soft serve ice cream with a crepe fish on top!?!? They also have some great other cake and crepe options that I will undoubtedly go back for. The passion fruit flavor will also slap you good.
Very great place. I would recommend this place to anyone, especially great for casual get outs, would be nice for a date. The staff was very friendly, the location is nice, nicely decorated, the food came out quick. This crepe was not expensive and came out looking like this. Very beautiful, the flavors were superb despite me ordering a basic one. Very perfect crepe, all around great place and I would recommend.
Pretty neat place! I got the icecream and it was neat! With tip, I got 3 of them for $25. The mochi addition was a little disappointing but I make homemade mochi and thats my comparison 😂😅 I will try this place again. I really want to try the pancakes. I do hate the location though because downtown is the worst 😅 people forget how to drive down there 😅 otherwise, its great!
The staff was super friendly that deserved a 5 welcoming and helpful. However, this rating is on would I come back and would I recommend. Doki Doki is not a place I would have sought out had it not been for my kid wanting to come here. Crepes were ok, the Fluffy pancakes were good, both were nice appearance wise. If youre in SLC and you like Spirited Away stop by if not pass.
YUM!!!! Most unique and fun crepes I have had! I had the Blossom and my daughter had the Hazel and we both thoroughly enjoyed them! They were a little pricey but the portion was huge. Prepare to wait a while but it is super worth it! Also - be sure to check out the parking map that is on their website. The free parking during the day is behind the actual building. There are signs everywhere so you dont get booted or towed. They were sold out of their Japanese butter cookies which they told me is typical for Saturdays so I will be going back early in the week next week (as recommended) to try those! Also tried the Tropical Paradise ombre drink which was amazing. Youre missing out if you dont try this place!
Cozy place with a cute aesthetic, and nice, welcoming staff. We ordered a coffee dalgona, matcha dalgona with boba, an ube crepe cake, and fluffy pancakes. The dalgonas were overly sweet, to a point where we couldnt finish them. The crepe cake as well as the fluffy pancakes tasted overwhelmingly of eggs and we couldnt taste their original flavors.Totaled around $34 with tip, and most of the food we ordered went unfinished.
What great dessert. I contacted them little late to reserve one of the crepe slices and they responded very fast. I had the tiramisu with dark cocoa one. It tasted really good. They also have different delicious dessert to try. I would try the toast next time. They open around 5 pm during week days and I recommend going early if you want to try the crepe slice.
I had the absolute pleasure of trying out the Doki Dokie Summer Collection. So many amazing new sweets and treats, it was hard to choose!》I ordered the New Peach Taiyaki Ice Cream, These beautiful Pistachio and Orange Anise Crepes with Fresh Raspberries and Their Brand New Fluffy Pancake Parfait in the Passionfruit & Mango Flavor. 《The Taiyaki Ice Cream was thick and Rich and so good with the fresh slices Peaches and Peach sauce. SOOOO Yummy! The Crepes were so light and thin, the Pistachio Cream was super flavorful and very Nostalgic. LOVED the orange sauce, I was really trying not to lick the plate. 🤣The Fluffy Pancake Parfait was incredibly light, the Passionfruit Cream was super bright and gave an awesome balance to the sweet. 👏Everything I tried was Phenomenal! Not only do they have their own free parking lot in Downtown SLC, unheard-of!! They have such a fun space for sitting, relaxing and enjoying all the wonderful treats they have to offer.
This place is soo good! the workers are always so kind and my girlfriend and i come here often! they have such yummy and well made desserts! we love coming here and then going to the library afterwards!! its also next to a redline station and a bus station! this has to be one of my favorite dessert places hands down!
Only giving this place two stars because the young lady at the front when we arrived was very short and rude to us. We had never been here before and didn’t really understand the menu - her tone was very short and her phone was much more important than helping us understand the menu. Only after I directly asked her if I had upset her did she decide to help us.The dessert, however, was delicious. Please be polite and helpful to all patrons especially if it’s their first time at your location.
Fun and Different Deserts. A little more lemon curd would be nice.
Thanks to Doki Doki, this year my birthday cake was bespoke. It was truly the best cake I have ever had in my entire life. If you have never had a crepe cake before then I highly encourage you to take a number and get in line! You will savor every bite and then desire even more. Their offering of flavors is curated and inspired, the establishment is clean and well located, and the staff was friendly. The picture shown is not from inside the bakery, but I found the presentation of these cake slices to be sublime!
Always a treat to come here! it always makes my day and i look forward to my visit everytime and dream of dalgona until then ~ i always try something new and everything is always better than i could imagine!!super friendly staff and the atmosphere is comforting and fun. i just found out all desserts are handmade and its obvious, since care is put into every order, in not only the taste but the service, the waittimes are super reasonable!
Yummy and unique dessert spot in salt lake! I would recommend to all my friends. I loved that they had Ube flavors. We got their famous ice cream dish it was great! But I wish they had something in a smaller size
My family has been coming here for awhile and we’ve always had the same cashier (cute girl, pink hair), however the past couple times we’ve come we’ve had someone else and they’ve been completely rude. They acted as if its a bother to have us ordering from them, and didn’t greet/thank us. The food has been okay but the hospitality was one of the main reasons we attended the establishment. I understand that more people work here, but where is the main cashier? They have set the standard so high to me and my family that the way we were treated recently was honestly insulting. Will be coming back in hope of seeing them again, but sincerely hope the rest of the staff get friendlier.Would still recommend for the food and the atmosphere.
The fluffy pancakes here are so cool and weird! Definitely a must try! Takes a little to get served but worth the wait :)
I ordered the Princess Peach with Boba drink and the Taiyaki (vanilla soft serve) with lemon filling, passion fruit sauce, biscoff crumbles and Pocky garnish. The drink with its sparkly limeade base, sweet fruity flavor, and chewy boba was refreshing. The Takiyaki waffle was crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. The lemon filling was sweet and creamy while the passion fruit added a tangy tartness to the rich vanilla bean frozen yogurt. The biscoff cookies were crumbled just right and added some great texture to the otherwise creamy dessert. I will definitely be back!!
The tiayaki is great. Lots of options to customize for just 6 bucks. We got there shortly after they opened and a lot of stuff was sold out but I think they get fresh stock in the late afternoon or evening. Wish they had an actual menu. The code thing didnt work for our phone. Maybe because they print it in light purple. Everything is made fresh so be prepared to wait for things that need to be cooked. When we went they werent busy at all
Overall the place is great, staff was very friendly, it was a meeting place for few of my friends, it was kind of them to let me wait without having to order anything. Finally friends came a lil late and we ordered a few different types of ice creams. I would like to say, they prepare it in front of you, and it is so amazing to see the process. Definitely recommend it for ice cream lovers :)
I dig this place, very chill atmosphere and the desserts are cute and delicious.
Amazing!! This is my new favorite dessert place. Customer service was amazing the atmosphere was very welcoming. The inside is decorated so beautifully!!
This Japanese desert shop is very special - truly in a league of its own! Next time we visit Salt Lake City, well definitely be back for more crepes. A+
Came from Lehi to try the “crepe cake” and apparently they don’t always make them. You’d think on a Friday night they’d have them. Tried a regular crepe and it was ok, but I wouldn’t come back for that. Also… it’s mid June 2021, can we drop the whole requiring a mask to order, then take them off 5 feet away when you sit down? It’s a silly ritual at this point.
Came because the review score was good and somehow thought this place was run by Japanese. It was not: just a weeby place. The desserts may have Japanese names and looks but are really American in taste. The taiyaki is simply McFlurry presented differently. And dont order the house special pancake - its bad. Youll know that just by how it looks, but then it would be too late. Its like a middle-aged American traveled to Japan, ate a pancake, and tried to replicate it while giving it an American twist. It doesnt work: you just cant have both cheap sweet and sharp sour at the same time in a pancake. The only highlight was a blackboard drawing of Nezuko from Kimetsu no Yaiba with a taiyaki in her mouth, running as if she was about to bump into someone around a corner. It was well drawn and very cute (I dont watch the anime btw). Overall, save your money and skip this place.
Just moved to Utah a few month ago and found this nice place for some Japanese style desserts. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff but most of all very delicious desserts! The wait time can be a bit longer sometime when it gets busy but they usually come earlier than they have estimated. Saw some negative reviews lately mask policy and the place out of certain desserts option, these reviews don’t make the place look bad, they just make the writers seem entitled and ignored, come on Utah you can do better than this!
Such unique and delicious desserts! And they change the manual seasonally. I got a crepe and the flavored whipped cream was so house made! So good. My husband got the takiyaki and that is what I would suggest. It takes 20min to make but it is really yummy and highly customizable. But ideally I would bring a big group of friends so you can order everything on the menu and try each item!
Came here a few months ago with my husband. They were out of a lot of stuff, but what we did end up getting was tasty. The place is really cramped, and it took a long time to get our food. But, because of the unique menu, we decided to come back with the kids yesterday. They were really excited. We had been driving for 7 hours, and we were really looking forward to a snack. We paid $10 to park and waited in line with our 3 kids. The girl at the counter was rude before we even started to order. Then, we were told that it was going to take at least 40 minutes to make just the first thing we asked for. Ultimately, we decided to leave. A disappointing experience. We won’t be going back again.
Best place for me and my aunt for our girls day
I cannot recommend Doki Doki enough. The desserts are so unique and everything we have tried so far is absolutely wonderful (we picked up the cutest Japanese toast for Valentine’s Day). Service has always been exceptional. Even with a long line the turnaround is quick ! Make this a priority to try.
Latest dessert I tried was the Hazel crepe. Super duper delicious. Its always hard to decide what to get when I go here but this crepe was A++
It was very good! The pancakes especially were very nice, and the presentation is all very cute. The only complaint I had was that, despite selling taiyaki ice cream, they dont actually seem to sell just normal taiyaki. We had been hoping to get some for my roommate but we didnt see the option on the menu anywhere. Its possible we might have missed it, but I only saw the ice cream option while we were there.
Nice aesthetic, fun place for dates. Really solid ice cream, only complaint is that theres limited seating but I went on a busy weekend so that might be why
Cute place. The ice cream was good although the ube wasn’t as ube as I would have expected. Can’t say much for the staff because I only saw them when they dropped off our food. My only qualms were the staff were in the back talking the whole time I was there and they don’t sanitize the tables and chairs after each customer. Normally that wouldn’t be so bad, but we are in a pandemic, a little sanitizing never hurt anyone.
Couldnt get service. Waited at the counter while the place wasnt busy. 2 people were just wandering around the back not doing anything. Left after 5-10 minutes of standing there. Im sure the pancakes are great though.
My husband and I went on our anniversary and LOVED it. The staff was so kind and the food was amazing. I only wish we had gotten more! I would highly recommend the house fluffy pancakes and a drink or two. The raspberry rose sauce is divine. I can’t wait to go back and try more!
Doki Doki is a fantastic space with some of the best desserts in the valley. I have been going since they opened a few years back and they always are so delicious, with my personal favorite being their crepe cakes. Yes, they still have a mask policy due to high risk family members. If youre immature enough to think thats a personal attack go somewhere else, they dont need your entitled attitude
The food here is so delicious! Love the atmosphere. Definitely worth going to for authentic Japanese desserts.
This place is great. It might seems to be on a slightly pricier side, however, the flavor is great. Just make sure to go on its own side to look up the parking map. The parking is not very straightforward.
This place is so cute! The taiyaki was amazing! I love how you get to customize the flavoring and toppings of the ice cream.
A business that pushes their political agenda on you by requiring you to wear masks. No greeting or hospitality upon entering. Just that I have to throw a mask on my face if I want to order anything. But at the same time the place is packed with over 20 people maskless eating their dessert and not social distancing at all. Makes no sense. Would not recommend this place.
Its good. The kids loved it but doesnt feel like a spot Id visit often. It goes for a Japanese tourist theme but doesnt have a hint on authenticity.
Great place! Rhys went above and beyond with their service and the sweet crepe was one of the best I ever had!!
Food looked good, but was asked to mask up to order even with people eating unmasked right next to the counter as well as all the unmasked people crammed in line waiting to order. Seemed a bit pointless, so we chose to politely say no thanks and left.Either you are concerned about a contagious virus and you require masks to enter or you are not and dont worry at all. They were not rude about it, likely a rule imposed by the owner. Masks were provided, so if that doesnt bother you, please enjoy. When the goofy mask rule goes away I may try them next time I find myself in SLC.
AMAZING in all aspects. Every employee we talked to was very pleasant. There was a small malfunction with the payment screen, and even though it wasn’t a big deal, they gave both me and my partner a coupon for next time as well as a discount on our current order. And the dessert was to DIE for. I’m especially picky with food that has good reputation (I’m often disappointed because it’s not as good as other reviews say), but this was a 10/10. Definitely coming back many times.
Not too busy, comfortable, and waiting time wasnt bad. I got the Sakura Crepes and I have to say, its 100% the best crepe Ive ever had, and one of the best desserts Ive ever had in my life. I went in hungry and left satisfied. 10/10 would come here again, no hesitation.
Interesting desserts. Not many options for those who cant do dairy
Came here to get a little dessert and was impressed. I had the taiyaki and it did not disappoint. Will be coming back soon.
I got a crepe cake from here, and it was absolutely delicious! It was fresh and the staff was very sweet to us when we picked up the cake. Well definitely be visiting them again!
Well my first thought was we were at the wrong place when I walked in and there was just a gentleman sitting at a podium taking orders. No ice cream anywhere in sight. There are ice cream menus though. We proceeded to order, based off of what sounded good. Prices are actually very reasonable $6-$7considering the time and effort and the art that goes into making these delicious ice cream cups. I have never seen rolled ice cream didnt know what it was. So after a minute of walking around I was able to find out where they make their creations. These handcrafted rolled ice cream of art, are definitely something you want to check out if you never have. The ice cream stays very cold and very delicious down to the last bite I dont think mine melted whatsoever in 93-degree. I am a big fan and definitely will return.
Great little mom and pop cafe. I love the crepes and fluffy pancakes. Go support the great small business. And treat yourself to some amazing dishes! Thanks Dokidoki!
It is a fun and unique dessert place! The passion fruit cake was my favorite and absolutely like it.
I was hooked after just one visit here! I had a taro taiyaki and it was absolutely phenomenal. Staff is super friendly, the dining area is super cute with a lot of comfortable seating options, and while there is usually a wait, it is evident that its because of the care the staff puts into making sure the order is fresh and delicious. Could not recommend more, Im more than willing to drive the hour it takes me because the environment and taste is excellent.
Came here a couple months ago for the first time and it was delicious. We loved the rolled ice cream, and it was totally worth the 45 minute drive. However, we drove there again today, only to find out that they no longer have rolled ice cream.. (which was most of the appeal to the place). The cashier looked mad that we didn’t order anything. Probably won’t be returning.
We love DokiDoki! They have so many yummy desserts and interesting flavors. It did take awhile to get our desserts, but it makes sense as they are always so busy and they make everything from scratch!
If you haven’t tried Doki Doki, don’t walk but run to this place! We love their ice cream (especially the brown sugar boba) and taiyaki with custard—freshly made to order and so tasty. Can’t wait till we’re back in the area to try their crepe cakes! Also, please keep in mind this is a small, private business so they can and do require guests to wear masks even if you’re vaccinated. Let’s all be mindful of this and be kind to one another.
