This is a great store to find some deals and the staff are really friendly. The only problems I’ve had pertain to the events and marketing.I’ve run into a couple events that BD advertise on social media such as pop-ups at ski shops. I’ve showed up to these planned events and BD wasn’t there. They didn’t even give any notifications that they weren’t going to follow through on the event. Most recently I showed up to the HQ store around 9:30AM on 9-24 because their online advertisement said they were open from 9AM-7PM. I arrived at the store and they were closed. Their poster at the store says they’re open from 11AM-5PM. Their marketing team needs to make sure the info on their advertisements match up.

Rachel and Preston are awesome. After having a warranty issue with my wifes bindings, Rachel set realistic expectations over the phone and Preston fixed the skis within 5 min of me walking through the door. Thanks making my experience such a good one!

I’m not sure if this is the right place but I’m going to share my experience with everyone. I bought a jet force avalanche back pack from black diamond. I had it for a few years now and it was great then the battery dies, ok I get it no big deal I’ll buy a new one well no you won’t. They won’t sell you the battery you have to send it in for them to do it. This is where it gets bad. I sent it in 3 months ago and it’s still not done, it takes 2 weeks before they will even respond to your emails and now they are out of batteries and are not sure when they will get more. So after spending 1000 bucks on a pack I had to buy another one so I could go sledding safely. So before you buy one consider this situation. Horrible customer service.

Excellent customer service.Everytime I go in, the employees are always friendly and knowledgeable.The store is clean, well organized, there are cool movies playing.Its tempting to just hang out for a few, honestly.Of course the gear is great too 👍🏼👍🏼.

A great stop when looking for the newest mountaineering gear. This small store has a surprisingly large selection, although walking space is a little limited. Everything from street clothing to skis and rope packs and cams. Although places like REI will sell most of the same stuff, and much more, I enjoy the smaller atmosphere when wanting to take my time shopping. Staff is always very friendly and pleasant to talk to.

Called to inquire about a pair of skis and Ryan and Alex help me out. What I really liked is that I was considering a pair of black diamonds as opposed to a pair of Line Sick days that I had already bought online from another place and he told me that what I was going to be skiing that I would probably like the Lines better and didnt try to sell me something that I didnt need. Ended up talking to me about some other skis that I did some research on and ended up buying the Boundary pro 100 underfoot from them and am going to return the Line Sick day 94s that I bought elsewhere. I love it when stores dont try to upsell you and try to sell you something that you dont need just to make a sale. I will definitely be back!!!!!

Overall, I do really enjoy BD’s products and will continue to be a devoted customer.However, I did just have an interesting experience at this store. I brought in two busted magnetron caribeaners for warranty. The sales guy tried to convince me that the gate was made of plastic and that’s why it broke. lol no? The gate is clearly an alloy, if it was plastic it wouldn’t be rated for climbing. Learn your product. That’s all! :)

Went to Black Diamond this afternoon with my partner and have never felt more unwelcome at any place in my entire life. I literally was there for less than a minute and was basically invited to leave. I recently started working for a company that offers a pro deal with black diamond and I do not know how it works. I went into the store and asked about how it works and the staff abrasively responded “we don’t talk about that in the store.” We were the only customers in the whole store and so everyone was ready to help us until I mentioned the pro deal and they all looked at the floor and ignored me except this rude worker. I was taken aback and asked “If I buy it online could I do an in store pick up,” and he said no. With everyone avoiding my eye contact, I asked, “So, I guess we will just leave then?” No one said anything as we walked out. I felt so gross and uncomfortable. I felt as if I was so unwanted there when I intended to buy a climbing rope and gear for sport climbing on the spot: at the very least 300 dollars. I do not plan on buying this gear from them, even if I have to spend more money at a different store.

Backpack hip belt was ripped off by a baggage handler on a recent international trip. Contacted for a replacement part and Amy J. took the time to locate the part (its an older bag, but was worth saving) and ship quickly. She also provided some troubleshooting instructions! Really helpful.

I have been searching for a down jacket for months and had tried 3 different brands before coming here. I had looked up the item online but wanted to get the sizing right so I decided to make the trip to the retail store. Staff were helpful in answering my questions and giving opinions. I had seen the jacket I chose on another website for cheaper and so I asked if they would price match. They not only matched, but they beat it!!! I was so impressed with both the customer service and the quality of the jacket I came home with.

Black Diamond pops up a few years ago and BOOM Black Diamond every where. Love this little outlet store. Selection can be a little lacking but dont be afraid to ask because they actually have alot of things in storage. The quality of stuff is also great, your gear will last forever.

I shopped online with Black Diamond and Customer Service was so awesome! They helped me find what I needed. They were courteous and thoughtful with communication and very willing to help. The delivery came quick too! They are knowledgeable about their products. I would highly recommend them to anyone shopping online for climbing gear.

I purchased a headlamp from Black Diamond and upon using it discovered that it had a slight imperfection, I contacted their customer service and to make a long story short.... I was blown away at their amazing customer service!!They really do care about quality of products and have a phenomenal business model. They stand behind what they sell. Online orders of BD product can only be returned online... or in store with a 3-4 day wait for the refund. I’m visiting SLC and all I wanted to do was exchange one brand new item for another. Too complicated for this corporation. Get it together BD! Think customer first, the Chouinard way.

Was in the store for about 20 minutes today and all three sales people were behind the counter talking to each other. Nobody approached us to help with the equipment.These people obviously didnt want to work on a holiday and apparently not working on commission.We have been buying lots of new gear for upcoming vacations this year, and have had great help everywhere else we have been.Not spending my money were I get ignored!!

Love BD products. They have a specific audience obviously with the ski and climbing community. But they have excellent customer service and incredible quality.

Excellent Service, Ive been a customer for years!

I called before I went there on a Friday letting them know that I had bindings that needed repair. I asked them what time they closed because it was a long way for me to drive and they said they would have someone to help with the rapair until 7 p.m. When I got there they said the repair shop was already closed but they would look at them at 8 in the morning when they opened. I called before I came again on Saturday to ask them if they had been repaired and they said they were so I spent another hour in the car. After I pick them up and they said it was repaired, I noticed that they had not been touched. They sent me out with bindings they said had been fixed that were not. Not only is this negligent on their part but also dangerous as I could have easily assumed that they were telling the truth and gotten on the mountain and possibly been injured with the broken bindings. They tried to pawn it off on me by saying there was a miscommunication but you cannot afford telling a customer their bindings have been repaired and they have not. On the bright side Ive been shopping there for many years and they generally speaking have a good team and care about the environment. Ill cough it up to a bad weekend.

Meh. Been coming here for 25 years and have found they have a rate of around 90% as far as hiring real knobs who judge you solely by the size of your forearms. Better to go to IME where you’re treated with kindness and without judgement.

I went here yesterday with the intention of learning about climbing and backcountry skiing.I walked in and let a rep in the store know that I wanted to ask some questions. She said she had to take care of costumers first, and promptly went to someone else. The next rep I tried conversing with was disinterested and disappeared within the minute, after making me feel stupid about ski ethics, or something along those lines that he said everyone should know, even beginners (which Im definitely not). There was another rep mostly in the backroom who I waited for but never really paid attention.I ended up going to REI and then Out n Back in Provo, both of which were more than accommodating. I even ended up purchasing some gear from Out N back because they were so helpful and insightful, even if they didnt think I would buy anything.Overall, deeply disappointed with Black Diamond. Not going back to one of their stores, even if their gear is high quality.

I love Black Diamond. Dont usually make it to the store but when I do you just feel awesome walking through the doors. Bonus, everyone inside knows what theyre doing.

Took my jacket in to be repaired. They werent able to repair it but they did replace it with another jacket for free. Im now a Black Diamond customer for life. Great customer service.

I go here regularly for climbing gear, etc. The staff are very helpful if youre looking for something specific. Make sure you check out the basement where they have clearance items!

I am brand new to ski touring and skiing in general. I went into Black Diamond to look into AT boots. Lee, the person that helped me out, was very knowledgeable and patient in answering my questions. I am very appreciative of the info and would highly recommend the BD shop to novices and experts alike.

Knowledgeable, friendly and professional. Small store, but carries quite a bit of merchandise. Also, the on-site shop does a great job (had skis mounted and boots fitted).

Bought a pair of Black Diamond gloves approx 1 year ago and had a warranty issue with the stitching. Submitted a warranty claim through BDs web-site but didnt hear anything back. Fortunately I live in the SLC area and paid a visit to their warranty center (next to their retail store) during walk-in hours. A BD-associate (by the name of Graham) assisted me, and had a replacement pair shipped immediately. FedEx tracking info was provided via email, and a new pair of gloves arrived at my house the next day. I realize walk-in hours at BDs complex in SLC is not an option for everyone, but in my case very happy with the way things were handled.

This place is legit. They make the best gear and the people here are super nice. I recently bought a Jetforce Avalanche airbag and it was recalled which was annoying but they got it fixed within a week and the bonused me a new headlamp. That is great form! These guys will take care of you and honor their work. What more could you want.

I shop here a lot for the products, not for the service. The sales staff acts like theyre part of some elite group club youre not allowed to be apart of. Condescending, hard to track down, and unwilling to bring you up to their level.Save yourself the hassle and buy BD products online or from the friendly staff at IME or REI.

Warranty service on my LED headlamp switch was handled very pronto! The store has mostly hard core climbers gear, and for normal people Like me, the headlamps ! Great people, clothes and great quality gear.

The customer service is not up to par with the quality of the Black Diamond products, it is QUITE poor actually. My experience is specific to the Salt Lake store.

The warrantee department is only open from 4-5pm, which was disappointing for making a special trip across town.

Best placed gear up with people that know their stuff.
