I went on a wonderful trip through Desolation with Holiday. The guides took care of everything and were so kind and professional. Meals included fresh cooked salmon, omelettes, and tacos. Even in extremely low water, the guides made sure we got some splashes in. Thanks, Holiday!
I have been on several rafting trips but this one tops it.Nick and Rocky were our guides they definitely took good care of us.We got the opportunity to kayakSwim on the river. Yummy lunchGreat rafting tripI recommend Holiday River expeditions for your white water adventures2 and 3 day adventures are recommended.
Just returned from 4 day Ladore trip. AWESOME... all around. Guides were 5 stars. Tyler,Josh,Ben... thumbs way up...
The best organization, communication, guides, food, and trips hands down.
What an awesome trip went down the Yampa river through Dinosaur National Park. Myself, and Shelly with our Son Sam and 7 other guests. The crew of 4 from Holiday River where just great. Did all the rowing and cooking and cleaning with a smile, nothing was a problem. And then star watching with the guides and telescope (thx Tom) was just the icing on the cake. Can not wait to go again.
Holiday leads the legacy of rafting. They float the big rivers without motors and provide an experience that is becoming more rare. Saying that their guides are professional is an understatement (they are knowledgeable, prepared, vigilant, caring, happy, funny, skilled chefs, and very hard working). This results in an exceptional experience on the river. Adventuresome rapids, incredible scenery, wildlife, opportunities for exploring and hiking, camaraderie. The logistics side of Holiday is also stellar. Reservations, getting in and out of the river, and ensuring you have the right equipment is a well oiled machine.I havent biked with Holiday, but friends have told me it is also top-notch.Go with Holiday, forget the motorized rafts, and have a true river experience.
We just finished a short two day river trip down Westwater on the Colorado River with Holiday River Expeditions. It was awesome! I have done several trips with this company and am always amazed at the way they take care of their clients! Great food and excellent guides that know about the river, canyons and wildlife make the trip so enjoyable. The way they care for the environment surrounding the canyon and river is also very heart warming. If you have any interest in seeing the beauty that Utah is famous for, even if you are not an outdoorsy person, give this company a try, you will not be disappointed.
My son and I went on a 6-day Cataract Canyon rafting trip with Holiday River Expeditions and everything about it was great. Our guides were knowledgeable, funny, experienced, professional, and able to deal with and put up with everything that came their way. The canyon is beautiful beyond words and the hikes along the way were wonderful. All the meals were unbelievably good with plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables even up to the last day. And finally (since this was a whitewater rafting trip), even at low water (beginning of September), the rapids were exciting and exhilarating. If it were possible to give this review a 6th star, thats what Id rate it.
We LOVED our retreat experience with Holiday. The guides, Molly and Lauren, were excellent and gave us the space to run our retreat exercises and still meet the time constraints. The added many loving and playful touches that made the trip special and memorable. We loved hearing Laurens passion for the river and her deep history and knowledge of the land, the politics, the rivers way.The equipment rental was easy and of good quality.I highly recommend Holiday for any group retreat! We will certainly call on Holiday in the future.Susie KincadeWomens Empowerment Workshop
Wonderful family experience- super guides (Trevor and Katie) made the whole trip. Fantastically turn-key. 4 day/3 night trip leaving from Vernal, UT warehouse. Slightly off season, had nearly the entire river to ourselves! Highly recommend even for other newbies like us.
My first experience with Holiday River Expeditions will not be the last. The Maze trip offers something for everyone, including a fantastic descent into the canyon and the opportunity to see The Harvest Scene. In my opinion there is no better way to travel in this area than on a bicycle, and to have fantastic food as you go creates an experience that is unique to the individual. Thanks again Susan and Dustin for an awesome experience, and Ill see you on the trail.
My second trip with the Holiday team which I loved just as much as my first trip. Getting to work with Karen in the Salt Lake office is always a pleasure, meeting 4 new guides who were so much fun, so helpful, so informative and so selfless that they literally make the trip what it is. THANK YOU Josh, Dave, Julian and Travis my daughter and I had an amazing awesome trip, cant wait for the next one.
I’ve been with them since 1975 and have a third generation to introduce to the rivers. Holiday is the best.
Granted Im the mom of one of our guides, but I believe that the non-family participants along for our Cataract Canyon six-day trip a couple weeks ago would agree that the guides were skillful, knowledgeable, and lots of fun. The food they prepared was delicious, and fresher than I expected. This route was perfect for me, a first-timer, with plenty of excitement but no terror; even though it has been many years since we camped, we were quite comfortable and very glad that we chose a longer trip. And oh the night sky! We are making plans for next year.
We went on a family 4 day river trip it was amazing. The staff and Holiday were great from the beginning office to the guides. Great food, met amazing new friends and made many new memories that my family will be talking about for a long time. Thanks to all the staff at Holiday.
My two friends and I celebrated 40 years of friendship on an 4 day mountain bike trip on the White Rim Trail with Holiday River Expeditions. Holiday provided great equipment and excellent food. Our guides (Dustin and Sarah) were awesome.
Best river trips, period. Ive rafted with several outfitters and none of them provide the level of service that Holiday does. Most people think of outdoor activities as something that requires a large amount of preparation and heavy investment in specialized equipment. Not so with Holiday, you can literally pack your clothes and toiletries and theyll provide the rest. The guides even cook all your meals for you. These trips are the most luxurious outdoor adventures you can have.
We went on a 5 day trip down the San Juan River. Jessica and Mac were our guides, oarspeople, cooks, cleaner-uppers, givers of much information about the region, and all around wonderful people. The river and its surroundings were beautiful and we were treated like royalty!
Havent had the opportunity to take one of the trips, but I have had the privilege of knowing the wonderful staff that works there and I cant compliment them enough, every single person I have met in the years Ive been acquainted with them has been kind and always willing to help out. If they are like that without pay I can only imagine how great they are if you contract them for an adventure.
Yampa River and Lodore river rafting trips with Holiday are some of the best! Can’t wait for more Holiday river rafting trips!
I didn’t see it posted anywhere, but I’m pretty sure it’s a requirement to be really really good looking in order to work for Holiday. Seriously. Everyone from our shuttle driver, Coltrane, (can’t remember his name but I think it sounds similar?) to our guides Jesse, Erika and Chet with Max joining us with an additional 8 guests on the second day.We were in Jesse’s boat for the entire trip and he was amazing. Incredibly knowledgeable about the river, it’s history, the wildlife and kept us entertained with random stories. He was the consummate professional while keeping it fun. There were some ridiculously silly comments and questions made during the float and while I wanted to punch myself in the ears in an effort to block out the inanity, Jesse responded to each without an ounce of condescension. And the food? Holy hell. It was better than I eat at home, tragically. Omelets, chipotle style burritos, grilled salmon, mashed potatoes, steak filet. I just drooled a little on my keyboard. Also, if you’re on that self-deprivation wagon known as gluten free, there are yummy looking options for that as well. The one and only negative I can think of is the fact that you will have to pee in a bucket for 3 days. But unless you’re expecting Holiday to provide waterproof catheters, I’d say peeing outside is pretty basic when it comes to camping.Overall, I absolutely loved the entire trip and felt overwhelmingly fortunate to get to have such an amazing experience with such a fantastic group of people. THANK YOU!!!!!!
