Really great place for some great groceries. Some really great Asian items you cant find easily. Some stuff is expensive though and the store outside looks like trash. Needs a paint job and power wash. Also the store looks like it hasnt been remodeled in years. I give it a 4 for having great selection of produce and fish.

Good selection of Asian groceries with and emphasis on Vietnamese goods. The building, inside and out, is old and run down and hard to keep clean. The parking lot is often crowded and being small it is challenging to maneuver in. Prices are below average and the selection is good. The produce selection is very good.

Ok. They need to educate most of their workers. I asked 3 workers and they all point to the same guy they believed knew everything but didnt. You should never have a single point of failure!!!! Although they have a great variety of many things so they have that going for them and they do, to some degree have categorized things where they should be found though very vaguely.

Its got a strong seafood smell, but you get used to it. They didnt have any crab legs just live crab. They had an amazing variety of seafood and the meat department wasnt too shabby. On $6.99 a pound for Ribeye. So I got two steaks. I will shop here again.

For a small location, this Vietnamese superstore has a good variety of fresh meat, frozen fish/meat, canned food/fruits. This place is a vegetarians dream with 1 of the largest selections of veggie food in Tx, Ca, Fl. Very surprised to see an entire row of freezers devoted to vegetarian meat and seafood and a stand full of dried vegetarian textured protein meat by the back of the store. The produce area needs improvement; missing many staples like cai lan, basil leaves, etc. 1 star off for their no video/picture policy and being warned about it by security.

I kept giving them the benefit of a doubt and tried to let them know, but they seem to have no respect for the mask mandate - especially this guy. I’ll just let the health department know and go elsewhere.

I was astonished of the behavior of the cashier at the checkout when she asked me if I want bags, I answered yes, then she put the items in bags and when she saw me using my EBT card to pay, she changed the bags with low quality ones, I asked her for the reason, she was just laughing.I told her that isnt not good for your store reputation and I will post this everywhere to let people know what happened and to let my voice reaches to authorities

The worst place I have ever shopped at. I am disabled and just for that, I was yelled at, belittled, treated beyond awful, given verbal abuse. This place should be shut down. I’ve never experienced anything even remotely close to that abuse at Vien Dong.

Really good store. so many options to choose from. if i could, i would probably spend hours looking through everything. layout is easy and doesnt change (at least when i go; which is often).

If you need any Vietnamese stuff, they probably have it. I wouldnt trust the live seafood. There were lots of dead animals mixed with the live ones.

Fresh seafood! Hadnt been here in a while, but they organized the store and its so much better! We bought a lot of snacks and a few pounds of fresh shrimp, it was great!

The best thing about this place its that you can chose your fish and the do the cleaning process and they can deep fry your fish

Not as big and sparkling as HMart or 99 Ranch but its my go-to for my Asian grocery. The fish are fresh. Prices are slightly cheaper than 99 Ranch for some items. Not as expansive for different types of Asian stuff but plentiful options for South East Asian dishes. They have the best french bread here.

Great selection of fresh seafood and vegetables for Asian style dishes. Meat counter staffed to cut or slice as needed. Hard to find spices and other items readily available. Great staff and friendly service. Busy on weekends so parking can be a challenge.

Its more expensive than 10 years ago but its nice to see its still around

It was like being in a foreign country, it was fun! Unfortunately I did not know how to cook the rare produce, I wish they had free recepies! but on the other hand I got 2 pineapples already peeled! All employees were really busy. Thankfully another customer showed me how I could make my own drink at home, because I am diabetic, instead of the premade drink full of sugar. Seafood was fresh and employee over the counter very knowledgeable, and helpful. I spent extra time and money, I bought useful Asian spoons, and beautiful tea cattle. The security guard was awesome, with out me asking he bagged quickly all my groceries! I recommend this place a 💯%

This store has a large variety of Asian groceries and goods. Its not in the best part of town, and the parking lot is tricky with small parking spaces, and lots of bad drivers. Not the cleanest spot either, but a lot of smaller Asian grocery stores arent. Always has what I need, though!

This is where you can buy new year rice. So 2019 Jasmine rice when cooking creates a flower sent though out the kitchen. New rice or this years rice last longer after its cooked. Vien Dong also had Thai coffee powder. A wonderful sweet drink with half and half. Great funky little Asian market. Meat dept smells like a third world place or Id have gone 5 stars. 2 markets available super friendly staff.

I love the Vien Dong seafood market that I go to. I have gone there for many decades. They have seafood and other hard to find foods that are hard to find in many other places. And their prices are reasonable too.

Great variety of Southeast Asian groceries! My go to place to get what I need to make Hmong/Lao/Thai food! Prices are decent. Only downside is the parking lot spaces are super tight and the store is not the cleanest. The location of the store is a little hidden.

Great place to buy fish

Great little Vietnamese market. The fish market choices are great. They clean, scale, and cut any and all fish that they sell. The butchers in the meat area will cut, grind, double grind, slice, and generally do whatever is needed for your meats to be perfect. They have the thinnest sliced meat of all the markets -perfect for pho. The vegetable and fruit selection is pretty large for a market of this size.

Amazing grocery store serving the immigrant community, offering a variety of produce, meats, seafood, dry goods and wares at affordable prices. This has been a long time staple for my family, making available many ingredients you cannot find at mainstream grocery stores.

I live in East County and did not want to drive all the way to Kearny Mesa, so decided to give this place a shot! I was pleased with the cleanliness, little fish smell, quality of produce and reasonable prices. I was not there to buy fish, however in looking over the displays, it looked very nice and fresh. And the fact that the store did not wreak of fish is another clue to the freshness. They also have a fresh meat counter on the opposite side of the store, which I liked. Good to keep the two separated, as far as I’m concerned. Good variety of groceries as well. I found almost everything on my list. The two employees that I interacted with were polite and helpful.

Too many security guards here?! Yes, nice to see this place has security, but this many means there are too many crooks and thieves here! Dont come here unless you have someone to watch over your car🙄😒

You can find most Vietnamese or Asian food items here. The quality and price are okay, as well as the service. Nothing impressive.

Not much filipino food or snacks, but good looking blue crabs. Good pompano fish. Convenient cleaning.

Vien Dong is a really nice place, the cashiers are really nice and I am able to buy products I usually wouldnt be able to find in American or Mexican supermarkets.

The first Asian market I visited after moving to SD, and still my favorite!It’s snuggled into a plaza, but much bigger than you’d expect. Great fresh produce, and a word on the seafood...there’s something endearing about the fish smell in part of the grocery. Maybe that’s just me; I like it.
