Needed a new battery = arrived at 10:00 am and was done by 11:15 . all though they were short handed they got right to it and had repair finished over 2 1/2 hours earlier then estimated. Very pleased with performance of Luis and his team. Great experience, thanks for a fantastic job!
Had set appointment for 3k oil change in the morning online and got one for 10:30am same day. Easy breezy, out in an hour. Great service as always...Thank you!!
I am so thankful to the staff at Pepboys and particularly to Luis Guzman. I was having issues with my car battery and was at a loss as to how to resolve. I had called a place near me and they required I take battery out of my car and I dont know how to do that and have an arm injury so cannot lift anything heavy. Fortunately, I called Pep Boys and Luis very kindly said to drive the car over and they would take care of it🙌 the entire process was simple and the car was ready sooner than I anticipated. I highly recommend this place!
Gustavo went above and beyond for me! I needed a lot of work done on my car and he really did an amazing job with all of his recommendations. He took his time to explain everything to me and was extremely patient with me. I made an appointment ahead of time and everything was done for me in a very timely manner. Gustavo even assisted me with payment over the phone which made pick up go so smoothly. His customer service is exceptional and I will absolutely be back because of him!

This pep boys ripped us off, we went in to replace our front breaks paid 350 some odd dollars. We get the car back and it squeaks. We called about the squeaking because the car had never done that before we took it in and we were advised that the squeaking would wear off in a couple weeks that it was not uncommon with new breaks. Not only does the squeaking not wear off, its so loud it can be heard from over a block away. We take it back and we are told our back breaks are probably the reason for squeaking and advised we should replace them as well, as people who are not mechanics we take their word for it spend another 350. The car continues to squeak as loud as before and now we take it to management to get some of the money back because we replaced the back breaks after being advised to do so because it was the cause of the screeching. A regional manager reaches out to my husband and says they have 0 return policy. Its so frustrating to have companies like this prey on people with little knowledge about vehicles. That cares so little about the people whos money they grub. I would Never recommend this company any of them. When they talk about the auto mechanic industry being sleazy, money hungry, and predatory? Pep boys is a front runner for fitting that stereotype. My car still squeaks too. Just trying to figure out our next steps.
I booked an appointment online for an oil change and tire rotation. I arrived 15 minutes early. When I approached the service counter the rude old guy said “Sorry. We’re too busy” in a very unprofessional and hostile tone. The three other guys lounging behind the counter didn’t seem especially busy. I selected a time slot that the Pep Boys online appointment booking system showed me was available for this, and then I drove here. Only to be told you don’t have time. Contact me if you’re interested in paying me to show you how to properly run your business. You’re doing it wrong.

Horrible service, knew they where short staffed yet kept reserving appointments, they want you to be stuck there for 5 hours for an oil change because they don’t have the decency to call the customer and explain that they are short staffed and are running 5 HOURS BEHIND to give you an option of driving 20 miles from your house or rescheduling the appointment. And then act like it’s your fault for not knowing .

Made an appointment online for a certain time. They called me back later and asked could they do the job the next day. We rescheduled. I got there 15 minutes late but as per our conversation I was 15 minutes early. He said he cancelled the appointment and do I want to reschedule and he would get to it sometimetoday. On the website it said there was an opening an hour from that time, which I now realize means absolutely nothing. Too many other places to go to.
Expert mechanics & the best in customer service. They also offer different % off discounts for Senior Citizens and also for,AAA Members. Just remember to ask them before any work is done, as to the different discount options available. Also remember to sign up for PepBoys Membership. It if free and they send/mail you all kinds of deals on mechanical work, new tires, etc..but also on the products they sell in their stores. We highly recommend them, especially the PepBoys Store & Repairs, located on the corner of El Cajon Blvd & 36th Street, San Diego, CA 92116. A US Bank is on the tip of the corner of their parking lot. It is in the Normal Heights area between the 8, the 15 and the 805 freeways.

My go-to auto parts store for the past 20 yrs. Went in this week and they are blowing out all the inventory and getting ready to reopen as a new brand that will still be auto parts but no idea what form it will take.
For a first visit in a while, went really smooth however I should add I had made an appointment beforehand so that might have played a factor. If you call and plan ahead you should expect good service
I buy parts here alot... When it comes to their commercial accounts they are not as quick as autozone... Not even close. Which is funny because they are soo close to my shop. They have an enormous building but rarely have the items that I call in for and they seem to have consistently higher prices than the competitors. The odds of my review reaching manny, moe or jack are slim but change has to start somewhere. If not I am changing parts suppliers
While it took hours to get in for an oil change without an appointment - my fault - I wanted to comment on the extra attention to detail they take. Looking over my oil change sheet, I also see that they pulled all the open recalls for the vehicle. This can come in handy if you just purchase a vehicle.

Online price to install headlamps said one price. Angel charged double.For the first time in six years of me getting service here I didnt sign any paperwork today.Actual service and parts department are great. Service writer made me feel like I was at a run down shop and made me edit my last review. I come to pep boys for the comradery. Not to get the run around and get charged double for a job that took 18 minutes including the installation of a $200 battery I bought for $150(online deal only).

No work without an appointment. Soonest they could do was Tuesday. I was there on a Sunday afternoon about 1:00 to replace a failed brake light bulb. (Usually about a 15-20 minute procedure.)
I had an appointment at 2:30. I sat on my computer working to ask 1.5 hours later about the status of my oil change. I was told it was next in line while seeing service members standing in the bay talking. I never got my oil change and left at 4pm.I was clearly visible and nobody had the decency to tell me there was a delay? This is the worst customer service Ive experienced in a long time.Im on hold for the manager. This is ridiculous. I have been going here for years. Never again and never another Pepboys.Your company is garbage and your service is worse.

Pepboys,I went in to the El Cajon Blvd location in San Diego CA and with my 2:30 appointment waited 1.5 hours only to ask the service team the status of my car with the response “it’s next in line” while your service team was hanging out in the bay talking.I left at 4pm with no oil change. I have been on hold for 20 minutes to speak to the manager of this shop just to be told Gene is gone. BS.I will never go to pepboys again. This is the worst service I have ever gotten. I came here for years. It’s sad your inability to exhibit standard customer service is so below par.This shop and the service team is an absolute joke.Best of luck to you. The Lyft desk at this location is really bad and this Lyft employee has no manners or a drop of customer service... Ericka is her name !!! I called a day before in order to schedule an inspection service and somebody set it up, next day I showed up and everything was wrong, there wasnt an appointment I had to wait for two hours !! She could NOT offer me a posible solution or any option!! She offered me just her bad attitude!!!
This place is great, I had a flat and they repaired it for $15 and gave me a free tire rotation, also they have free air. This shop is an old school operation in a good way. It reminds me of the tire shop in my town when I grew up. The staff was so friendly even the guys at work in the shop.

Said I needed $2100.00 in repairs for an oil leak that developed a few days after they changed my oil.. I had car towed (AAA) to Skellys garage in North Park. Got repaired for $300.00 with a six month warrantee. Total rip offs, stay away and save your money!!! Nice try Ed (manager), Will not return again... Assbags!!!!!
Have always had great service here. Strange to read reviews to the contrary. In store service could be better, but the Service Center really strives to get the job done on time and correctly. Making an appointment online is the wrong way to go. Walk in for an appointment on a less crowded week day if you can (aka avoid Friday and Saturday).Had all 4 tires replaced here today - 4 tires for the price of 3. Great deal! Shopped around online and no one could beat the combined price for the same tires plus installation. I come here regularly to get my tires rotated with lifetime rotation. Service Manager, Eric, is exceptional!Hope you experiences are as good as mine!
Tony the service manager is great. Luis the assistant retail manager provided great customer service. Will do my parts shopping and car maintenance at this location from now on.
Popped a flat pulling into the parking lot, went in to ask if they could see if they could patch me a quick one, 10 minutes left till close. One in charge said we close in 5 and I’m not going to do anything for you, i was never requesting a free patch either. Asked again is there any way where you can help me out just to pump some air at least, rejected again saying bring it back tomorrow in the morning. Not great service, too much into their job that they can’t follow with a favor.
Had a blow out on the road. Had road side asst take me to this location. Sunday morning every thing is closed! Needed help they were booked but made room and squeezed me in. It was a pain in the butt no matter what. But all on all they make room for me was out by 2 pm. They opened at 9am and closed at 6pm. So I am grateful for their assistance even if I wasnt first. Lol.
I would have selected no stars!!!! I was treated rudely. I inquired about my tire being repaired on Friday around 5:45pm after seeing you were open til 8pm. Approached the desk and was rudely talked to and he stated They were too busy and behind and will not get out on time. I asked him of any place he knew around that could assist. He walked away and said no. He had no compassion for others. I do not recommend this place to anyone. One thing I dont get is you advertise your open til 8pm but can assist people. Sorry this isnt a place I want to ever go back to.

Great experience here! Had a road trip coming up the next day, they got me in with only a 2 hour wait to completion. Needed oil change, tires rotated, fluids checked, and brakes checked out. They did all that for the price of an oil change. $29!! Didnt lie to me and tell me I needed things I didnt just because Im a female. Workers were very nice and have earned my trust. Will be using them from now on.

Came for a scheduled brake inspection and found put my brakes still had a lot of life left. They got the inspection done in a fast and timely manner.

I want to buy a club instead I got some instruction on how to hotwire your car so that when I they try to steal it you wont, the fuel pump doesnt work. I still got the club security bar for steering wheel. when I got home I followed the instructions that guy at pep boys gave me and it worked, the fuel pump didnt want to pump, the car didnt start. so I went to go take the club back to pep boys and got a refund fast, great help, wonderful listeners.
My car died there as I was leaving ask me if anyone came to help when we asked for help I called AAA to take me home and Id also like to note my car was released to me knowing damn well it was not safe to drive. Ive called trying to get a hold of the mechanic but hes always on vacation.Update the store manager hooked it up on the microfiber cloths that were in the wrong location so a two star boost thanks again! Just got told the tire rotation was never done on our car good thing we didnt pay for the oil change after waiting two hours with an appointment to get told our car was just out sitting parked. Im not surprised anymore and wont be going back too many let downs in 3 visits. Dont recommend dont go here.
If I can choose a -5 star I would. Ordered tires online and shipped to Pep Boys. The store made it seem imposible for a same day appointment or walk in. Not enough mechanics but plenty of Staff in the store standing around just talking doing nothing.

Very professional shop, i went in for an oil change. This place also does replacement parts, and tires. They are built for volume for oil changes, i got my synthetic oil change request completed in under 2 hours on a very busy day.. kudos, and all 5 stars.
My oil change was quick and quite cheap with the online coupon. I recommend booking an appointment online. I went in at ten thirty am and the gentleman at the desk said they couldnt perform an oil change until the following day- although there were plenty of appointments available online (in imagine they lose a lot of business like that)
Okay it was my only day off this week and I use my truck for work so I needed it done today so I went to Pep Boys where they have mini Bays open mechanic sitting around chatting so I took my Nissan Titan in because it needed a new tie bar in the front I dont know if youve ever had a tie bar loose but you can hear it a mile away every single time you hit a bump it rattles very loudly. I took it into Pep Boys after I made an appointment for 1 I was there at 12:45 they checked in my car I told him what I needed they asked me if the technician had diagnosed my car and I said no another mechanic did so they charged me $20 for an inspection told me they wood call me in an hour I told them I needed my car fixed today and it was very important because I use my truck for work. The technician told me he understood and so I walked home where I live just a few blocks away. After an hour and a half I called Pep Boys and asked if they had diagnosed my truck yet and they told me that there were appointments ahead of me and that they would call me as soon as they had an answer. Two and a half hours from the time I dropped it off I got a call from them and they told me that along with the tie bar and there were many other parts that needed to be replaced including all four tires and the total estimate was $3,500 I was floored I told them I dont need the four tires just the tie bar fixed and the man that called me told me it was a package deal if if I didnt take the tires I couldnt have my tie bar fixed and when I asked why he told me because they couldnt replicate the noise I reported I will never go to this Pep Boys or any Pep Boys again this is the second time Ive had a bad experience taking my car in for some service or related issue I wont even buy Armor All there anymore sorry Pep Boys you lost a customer

When you call or go here ask for Steve. He is, most importantly HONEST. I was told by another repair shop that it needed a starter and was quoted $495.00 and was also told that I needed a crank shafts sensor at the cost of almost $700.00 so left that shop and had my car towed to this pep boys.. Got a new starter for under $300.00 and did not have to get a crank shafts sensor.. Thank god ! Now I can eat this week. Thank you Steve.

Like others have said, they do not honor appointments. Service is slow when they do honor the appointment. The service itself is fine. (It’s an oil change...)

Horrible experience! Made an appointment online last week for an oil change on Monday of this week at 7pm. Showed up an hour early and was told the oil change wasnt guaranteed to be finished by 8pm, but I was more than welcome to wait. Was told the manager tried calling me but had the wrong number. I looked online in my profile and the number is correct, however, associate read off multiple numbers, one of them was mine and correct. So basically an appointment/reservation here means nothing. Called customer service and was told that they encourage online appointments. They gave me the managers name, and told me to bring up my concerns with him. Just terrible and unacceptable to take an appointment, not be able to fulfill it, but then to offer as a courtesy to stick around for 2 hours without the guarentee of it being completed.
I call for info, they ask me to hold, and then Mike just hangs up on me. Makes me not want to spend my money there.
Came here with no appointment for an oil change, store manager Tony Infante said we can do it will take 2-3 hrs. 6 hours later when I approached him he rudely said you don’t have an appointment so what do you expect. Almost 7 hours then finally my keys were given back to me. My door panels had oily marks from their gloves. Store owner read this and do something about it. Don’t just reply with templated message. So unprofessional.
Took way too long to get 2tires that were over priced put on my car. Got better service and cheaper tires in the ghetto side of town. If you do business here prepare to wait and to not have your expectations met. Disappointing.

To whom it may concern,Id like to lodge a complaint and report that the service department at Store 810 has been caught joy riding in my car. I arranged an appointment for 2PM for a rotation and balance today, 10/2/2018, at approximately 12:50PM. I arrived 10 minutes early and proceeded to wait. While waiting I received a text from my girlfriend that my car, without me driving it on El Cajon Boulevard. Its very easy to spot as I have red cross donation stickers on the outside of my rear view mirror. I did not notice this text until later when after waiting an hour and 15 minutes, approximately 30 minutes later, I went outside and saw my car on the lift with the 4 tires off.20 minutes later and I was checking out. As I got in my car, the seat was forward, I pushed it back. At the turn of the key, the auto-telescoping wheel was very high. My sideview mirrors were angled at the sides of my car, and I noticed the gas was no longer right on the 3/4 tank line where it had been at drop off with 75.1 miles on the trip. The trip now read 80.0 miles and the gas line as clearly below the 3/4 mark. Also, the A/C was turned to full and fans to 4/5My service request was exclusively for a tire balance and rotation, no test driving of my vehicle should have been done, certainly not 4.9 miles, certainly not necessitating adjusting all of my seat and mirror positions.In this area, the level of traffic and lights, 4.9 miles, 2.45 out and back is a significant distance to travel, with 2 freeways within .5 miles, an exit .4 miles, allowing for a test drive loop of under 2 miles.I am highly dissatisfied that my car would be unnecessarily used by your employee(s) and that I was made to wait an hour and 50 minutes, while someone was tooling around in my car, for at most 45 minutes worth of work.Sincerely,NicDont take a nice car here, theyll enjoy your ride while you wait.
Wide variety of parts, great customer service in the parts department. If the store doesnt have a part in stock they can check what store has it for you in San Diego & even order it for you, or they can have the other store put it on hold for you. Brand New Remodel makes it even that much better.

Came in to replace alternator belt on a camry 2003. Was told that my car will coast 160$ couple hours later JIM calls me and says its gonna be 550$ because theres another thing missed up. So I told him I dont have that amount because am student and asked him if he could just fix the belt, he said he cant fix the belt alone. And that it needs to be fixed together, I took my car from the shop and drove it to another mechanic at imperial Ave that charged me 80$ for parts and labor.. JIM my friend you are the DEVIL.

Walked in to talk to someone about getting some van door hasp and lock locks for my work van, had to stand in line waiting for someone to get free to help me.After waiting a gentlemen helped me out that obviously didnt know how to use a computer or even know where the letters are on the keyboard to type in a part number that I got off pep boys website. I again explained to him what it was I was looking for after he couldnt look it up, then he said they dont have it at all.At least you could suggest to order it online for me, nope. Obviously illiterate and no common sense here. I will never go to a pep boys I was never a fan of your chain and this experience just confirmed why!Might want to drug test your employees and ask them if they know how to work a computer.
Pep Boys Auto had been my go to for all my auto maintenance needs for the last 5 years since I relocated. Regular oil changes, the occasional tire needs and the basics seem to be all that Pep Boys can handle. I had to give up my car for more than ten months, no loaner car, then once I picked up my car it had to be towed to another Pep Boys where they perform the same work that I paid for more than ten months prior! A year later they decided to put a new engine in, then I couldnt get it to smog for two months after. Five tickets towing costs and $3700 dollars later my car was never the same. The Check engine light keeps coming on, the transmission had a leak, electric ignition issues all happened after Pep Boy supposedly fixed my car. The additional costs of $2500 was incurred with only a six month warranty coverage for the used engine that I thought was new!

Well I was actually going to take my car to get a tire change, but decided I will take my business elsewhere even though it is literally a block away from where I live. Called to get more information and the gentleman who answer was not helpful at all. When I asked him what time the car service area opens he said depends on what service. I told him I need tires and the guy actually got mad that I asked him that and told me that its too late for that. Well Im glad I read the rest of the reviews and I am very happy to take my money somewhere else.
It was a long wait but it was worth it at the end. They repaired my guard splash and I able to get back on the road.
The store manager Jorge and employee Luis have made coming to this Pep Boys an overall truly enjoyable experience. They are very helpful, which gives me a measure of confidence in knowing they are providing an excellent service. I scheduled an oil change and they offered to fill up my power steering fluid at no extra charge. On another occasion, I went in to get my battery life checked on my GMC Acadia and needed the battery to be removed which would have costed a minor labor charge. But at check-out, the labor cost was simply waived off. Thank you and Ill definitely return back for further maintenance on my vehicles!
