Took my Jeep to Mission Hills Automotive for the first time yesterday - routine oil change/maintenance. Fred at the desk was friendly, helpful - and wearing his mask :) Dropped my Jeep off, and received a text message a couple hours later with a link to my inspection report. This included a list of what was checked and pictures of things that needed attention - marked as urgent (none), non-urgent (one) and items that passed. When I went to pick up my Jeep, we discussed the non-urgent item. Absolutely no attempt to upsell. Really appreciate the honesty and friendly service. I was on a road trip and needed to get my alternator replaced along with an oil change. The guys at Mission Hills are very knowledgeable and very friendly! One guy was a Subaru expert in my opinion, took care of all my concerns and taught me a few things about my Subaru Outback I wasnt even aware about. Highly Recommend!!

I would not recommend this shop, I had new tires installed and went to mission hills automotive for a $100 wheel alignment, the shop wasnt able to align my vehicle stating the car required aftermarket camber bolts and camber arms to align it correctly ($600 estimate for labor), I brought the vehicle back for a second alignment with the new parts installed, still the shop wasnt able to correctly align the vehicle stating it needed control arm bushings ($800 estimate for labor) I brought the car back for a third alignment with the new control arm bushings installed, The shop owner refused to warranty the alignment that was never completed and wanted to charge an additional $100. The owner refused to refund me for an alignment that was never completed, his explanation was that I was taking away all his opportunity to make a profit because I replaced the parts they suggested in an effort to get the vehicle properly aligned. Ill be getting my alignment done elsewhere. It would be fair if your shop would complete the job youre hired to do, instead of blaming your inadequacies on parts that dont actually need replacing..

I was visiting San Diego for work for the day and had an ignition coil fail at about 12:30pm. Totally stranded, I called Mission Hills and they told me they could take a look at it and I could bring it in. The man on the phone was super nice and knowledgeable. Obviously, I thought that I wasnt going to be able to have it fixed before the end of the day, and I also had to be back downtown by 4:30pm for a meeting.When I arrived, everyone was incredibly accommodating and extremely nice. They promised to do whatever the could. I decided to have 3 of the ignition coils replaced so that I could avoid this from happening again for a while.Not only did they provide excellent service, but they were able to get me out the door with a running car in 90 minutes!!! They totally saved the day and I was able to head back home to Orange County in my own car after making it downtown by 4:30pm.Definitely recommend this shop! Everyone is phenomenal and they absolutely made my day!

Gilbert was extremely helpful with our smog check today! In and out within 15 minutes. We even asked about an issue with our transmission, and showed him a quick video from our mechanic. Fast and EasyI had a failure of a small unimportant part, the second in 2 months for the same type of part, and Fred and Crew were able to fit me in for a 5 minute appt, replaced the part and got things working again and didn’t charge me a thing!! Definitely enjoyed my experience here. These guys are honest, hard working and fair. I brought my car in for a shifting issue with my car. After paying their diagnostic fee (which was extremely reasonable) it turned out to be a really simple fix and did not require taking apart the gear box. Instead of charging me for the labor, they only charge me for the part which was extremely cheap! Will definitely be coming back to them

Im blown away. We went in earlier this weekend to get the headlight on my girlfriends car fixed. After letting us know it wasnt the light itself we waited in the lobby for a bit waiting for them to come back out and give us the traditional automotive lingo for you are going to owe us a LOT of money for something youve probably never heard of thats wrong with your car. But that wasnt the case. They looked into it, they fixed it, and they charged us NOTHING. Unreal. I will never go to another automotive shop again for anything because anywhere that treats their customers like that deserves my money when the time comes that I need the help.

One of the few places left that have technicians willing to think about crucial details for your car. I have an old Isuzu Trooper with the seldom heard of “drain back” problem with oil. Years 98, 99, and ‘00 were built with not quite enough or sized holes in the piston drain rings, so depending on the history of oil changes, oil type, etc... you may have a serious problem after some years of use. More than just burning... it can be tough to know what to add, etc.. these guys at Mission understood, didn’t run some crazy deal at me, and used the “doctor’s creed” with it- DO NO HARM. Thanks for the advice and honest work guys.

These guys were great. I live in Vegas and have been in San Diego for the past 6 weeks because my wife is a patient in UCSD. Needless to say when my Check Engine Light on my Cadillac SRX came on and I did not know any local mechanic shops near the hotel that I am staying at {Hotel Iris} I figured that this is going to cost me at least a few hundred to fix.They connected their computer to my car and stated that the code meant that my gas cap was not properly closed.They would not accept any type of payment. Its nice to know that their are still honest and trust worthy businesses out there.So now I have a mechanic for our quarterly visits to San Diego.

AWESOME SERVICE!Brought our car here after a couple of engine scares in the middle of traffic and at first they couldnt find what was wrong and almost sent us home, but we encountered the problem again a little while later and they had a look at it again until they finally found the problem (apparently it was a dirty part that caused the engine to stall when we brake at stop lights) and fixed it for us at no extra change!We took up a lot of their time but they were very nice to us! A+ service!!

I had a last minute issue with my BMW at the end of the working day. A BMW specialist I took it to wouldnt even look at it and asked for me to leave my car. The guys at Mission Hills not only were able to look at it immediately and diagnose the problem, but gave me a loaner while they repaired my car the next morning. After a more complete diagnostics, the repair was actually less extensive then expected.Great shop, very honest, very reliable.

Had to bring the car in without an appointment for a flat battery. They changed it out and had me back on my way within an hour. Friendly and helpful as always. Cant say enough good things about them.

I found Mission Hills Automotive after the unfortunate experience of catastrophic engine failure while visiting San Diego, and I have to say that they are some of the, if not THE, most competent, well-mannered mechanics I have ever met. Leighton was the Service Advisor I spoke with the most and it was a pleasure dealing with him. He kept me up to date on where they were with repairs and was always more than happy to answer any questions that I may have had. I moved to eastern San Diego about six months ago. I lived in Hillcrest before and had Mission Hills Automotive as my mechanic. In spite of living where I live now, which is not close, I still go to this location to have my car taken care of when necessary. To this day I am still very pleased about their honesty, professionalism, and sense of personalized customer care. It is these three primary ingredients along with reasonable prices that encourage continued business with them. I recommend them if anyone is searching for a mechanic.

Out-of-towners - Bring your car here!!! I developed a transmission problem on the way over from Phoenix on a holiday weekend. I dropped my car off overnight on Friday, very worried that I would be stuck until at least Tuesday or Wednesday. There are worse places to be stuck than San Diego, but I digress. Saturday 7:00am, I got a phone call from the owner saying that the shop was booked for the day, but he recognized my situation and said that they would at least do a diagnosis and order parts, if needed. I got another call at 10:30 with the root cause and a quote. I received a call around 2:30 (still on Saturday!) to let me know the car was finished. Boy, was I pleased. I drove home with no issues, and still no issues, 5 months later.An unethical shop could have taken advantage of my situation. Not Mission Hills Automotive. The fast and caring service also came at a quite reasonable price. Thank you!

I trust them, which says a lot about a car repair business. The will never push you to by a new repair and will not do the repair if the dont think you need. I have two older cars, so it was really important to find a mechanic who is trust worthy. I wont take my cars anywhere else.

My car stopped working in the middle of a busy street. AAA towed it to Mission Hills Auto (MHA) at 7:00am. on a Saturday and I discovered that they have a neat check-in system for unexpected visits. I filled in an envelope and put the key in it and dropped it into the garage, leaving the car parked in their forecourt. At 8:00am sharp, they called me and I explained what had happened. They then called me back to say that they couldnt do an analysis until Monday (fair enough) and on Monday at about 9:00 am. they informed me that the low pressure fuel pump had failed and that it might be under warranty with BMW. After I called BMW and was told it was not, I got back to MHA, who then ordered the part and had it installed by 9:00 am. Tuesday. I picked the car up later on. What I like about them is that they keep you informed, they are very transparent about pricing and they are always trying to save you money if they can. They do good work and are very friendly. They also answer the phone promptly (I was on hold for over 25 minutes with BMW). Highly recommended.

This place is great! I finally found a mechanic I can trust. I took my car to two other shops and they wanted to charge me upward of 2k to fix my engine. Turns out it was a simple fix, which saved me a lot of money.

I brought my car in with severe transmission problems not knowing what exactly what was wrong with it. These guys figured out what was wrong with it very quickly, and given the severity of the issues with the car didnt charge me for the diagnostic. They asked only that I bring my next vehicle to them when it needs work. I certainly will!

Terrible, stay away from this business, my car was tow to this shop and they try to charge me almost 800.00 dlls for a rebuilt alternator when is only about 300.00dlls elsewhere included labor. I told him about it and he said “you will not find this part and labor for that price”. He was trying to get easy money. Keep an eye on them. They will always try to charge you a lot of money. Anyway I had to pay them 50.00 dlls. Just to check my car when I can go to Nat. City and they can check your car with no charge. Always check prices on line before you go to an automotive shop. Don’t let this kind of shops to fools you.

These guys have always taken good care of me and my car. Randy tells the truth and helps me get the best value, rather than trying to up sell me like so many auto shops do. Thats a really big deal to me as a single woman! Recently they outdid even their usual great service by helping me figure out the fix-it lights on a borrowed Prius. I just got an alternator a few months ago. The alternator went bad, I was under a major time crunch, if my truck is not moving I am not making money. They had me in and out in exactly one hour. They dropped everything to get my truck done. I would recommend this shop to anyone.

Extremely rude businessman. We stopped our car there (after business hours) for 10 minutes while we looked up directions for where to go. We never left the car. The owner came out (obviously and/or on some serious drugs) and was screaming for us to get off the property. He was yelling and cursing, threatening to call the cops. When I shut my door he opened it again to yell at me. I thought about staying to charge him with assault but figured a lowlife drug addict wasnt worth my time.

Very disappointed. I have been a Mission Hills automotive customer for 20 years. Ive taken five different cars there and have recommended this place many times. However was told I needed a new brake job that would cost twice as much as the brake job they gave me just 10 months prior. The reason I was given, was my car has issues...Sorry to have to find a new mechanic I can trust.

I was charged over $400 in parts for a rear axle, bearing and seal.....and had the axle failafter 20,000 miles due to their use of a poor quality steel axle. I found a new Dornanaxle with bearing and seal for less than $150....and had to undertake thedifficult hassle of replacing it myself. Amazing that they used such a poor qualitypart and then charged that much for it.

They helped me with the under lining of my Tesla that was falling apart. Amazing serivce!

Had excellent customer service from Fred yesterday, really positive experience.

I had my car towed there on saturday night and I was told they will be able to get to it on Monday. Then I got the call Monday morning that the shifter cable broke and that it had to be replaced. He said that they had to order the part directly from the maker of the car and that it would be $129. Then he said with the labor to install it the total would be $362. I asked him not to work on my car because the cost seemed a bit high. I found my part and a mechanic to install it for only $120. I just got my car back and he charged me $124 because of the diagnostic check. Do not go to this guy, he will rip you off.

They didnt run diagnostics and tried to blame my alarm on issues on my car and wanted to charge me $280 to remove it and stated that they still wouldnt guarantee they can find out the issue. The guys at Mission Hills Automotive are as good as they come. I drove my Jeep to San Diego for a conference, when the latch on the rear glass window decided not to catch/close, right before I left town. I felt unsafe driving at high speeds with an unlatched window, and I found MHA on Yelp.Randy, Dan & the entire team were all super-nice, and genuinely wanted to help (even though I didnt live in the area). They made a quick fix to the latch, and had me back on the road, and heading home, within 30 mins of arriving at their shop. I honestly cant remember being treated THIS WELL...at an auto repair shop. No question, THIS would be my go-to car repair team if I lived in SoCal!
