Great independently owned book store with new and used books. Great selection. I could have spent hours here. Highly recommend!
I ordered a book from this bookstore via Amazon... and the maze it takes thee days to do so. I already had a good feeling about the store looking at their website, and they were responsive, quick to answer and detailed about my inquiry. It was wrapped neatly and efficiently - but no studio number so I was lucky that my neighbor brought it over. The book was a fair price and in even better condition than they noted, and I received it a week ahead of time. I recommend them 1000%!
This bookstore was absolutely wonderful! I loved it. Theres so many aisles to browse though that I think I spent over 2 hours in the store. The staff is super friendly too!I had a really big backpack that I was using to buy gifts for friends but I ended up filling up the backpack with books instead! Totally worth the backache :)
Just fantastic. Perfect place to get lost in the stacks. And the people who own and work La Playa Books are wonderful and so knowledgeable.
What a wonderful bookstore! Bibliophiles rejoice! Perfect location, and topics for anyone and everyone.Highly recommended.
A calm, cozy oasis on the midst of the busy Roseville neighborhood in Point Loma, La Playa offers treasure for every kind of reader. On the well-organized shelves you will discover new titles and reacquaint yourself with ones youve loved. The childrens section is delightful and eclectic. Wonder-filled!Supporting our indie bookstores is definitely more satisfying than a soul sucking internet search and click.
Cozy used book store with a very friendly staff.. Their science fiction selection is a little sparse, but very good selection of everything else.
My girlfriend has been coming here to trade books for credit for about a year now. It’s a nice independent bookstore with a really diverse collection. There’s a very distinct ‘old book’ smell which isn’t exactly pleasant as soon as you walk through the doors. There’s also an ok discount book cart outside.
An intimate local book store that may be narrow in some spots, but with a good selection of new and older edition books.
Careful, you’ll likely leave with many books.
Easy parking, good prices and the cashier was super friendly.
Nice little book store.
La Playa Books in Point Loma area of San Diego is for book lovers. Smells like books when you enter. Used and new books. I found a first edition copy of Arabian Night from 1933 with Maxfield Parish illustrations. So they have some first editions for collectors
Smallish and quiet, but they pack a mean punch as far as their book selection. I was able to find books here that were hard to come by even while resorting to online shopping. Thankfully, i didn’t have to resort to the internet but was able to buy it here. I’ll definitely be coming back.
Great used book store. Very nice collection of various subjects. Very good selection of San Diego related books. Allow time to browse.
Small well curated and well organized used bookstore (some new). Large American history section. Most books in very good condition and the store avoids the mustiness of many used bookstores.
Cute local new/used shop. Very clearly organized and easy to find what I was looking for, but I went in with a specific topic in mind. Prices werent as low as I expected but rent in Point Loma is outrageous so I understand. Will check back again!
Great bookstore- it has all you could want for great prices and is well-organized! Very pleasant and kind staff. Highly recommend coming here!
Great selection of books and they adjusted to the pandemic by selling their books in carts outdoors. I’ll be back soon!
Badass little bookstore. A must go
I love one of a kind book stores and I love the new sketch book I found there. Theres a childrens area and its located right on Rosecrans Inn one of my favorite parts of Point Loma.
Great local store in Point Loma with a good selection of childrens books. Not a huge set of newly published items but enough to be interesting. Friendly staff and reasonable prices.
A fine store.Reminds me of the used bookstores we had all over San Diego 40 yrs ago. Great staff. Bravo ladies!
It has a good variety of childrens books, mystery, classics, and other books, but has a tiny section of sci-fi/fantasy. There is a somewhat questionable odor Ive noted on a couple of visits. The pricing is competitive with other used book stores locally. I wish they had a larger section for sci-fi and fantasy, but I know Ill be able to find rare books by Bernard Cornwell and Patrick OBrian here. I would definitely come back, but it would not be my first choice of the local book stores to visit, regrettably.
Disappointed that your shop is not handicap accessible. Was all excited to bring my daughter inside and spend all the money, only to be derailed by that 1 step at your front door. 😪
A magical little bookstore. Odd hours but so worth those magic moments hes open! Stunning book collection
Awesome place and great selection. Very reasonable on prices.
Nice bookstore, but why do you close when everyone gets off work ? do you not like business?
If you love books this is your spot
Found some 50 cent gems here! Lovely bookstore!
Friendly staff. Great collection of books.
My favorite bookstore in SD. Bigger select ion than its size would have you think. And the staff is always really insightful with recommendations.
Great place with personal attention
Lovely neighborhood bookstore
Nice selection
