Found a decent price on a 2014 Nissan Sentra, well I thought... I never had any experience in buying cars and no one to ask to at the time. However after doing all the paperwork and taking the car home, had it for about a week... They ended up calling me back to change the contract, to increase the interest rate. I didnt know that it was a shady deal on their end. At least I learned from it.. *FOR THE NEWBIES* *BE CAREFUL* before going to this place... Also the sales rep Shaw said to give a nice review saying that their office was really nice and fancy... Its a trailer lol.
Yesterday my wife and I bought a 2018 RAV4 XLE AWD from this location. The process from calling the dealer to confirm availability to actually purchasing it was the easiest, friendly, straight forward fun car buying experience we have had in 10 years. Silvia was our sales person and she was very knowledgeable and friendly. She walked us through the entire process and made everything easy to understand. Finance was easy and our finance rep was great! Everything was very low pressure and every single staff member we dealt with was great! I would not hesitate to buy a car from this location again! Purchased a 2017 Kia Soul here and was pleasantly surprised with the experience. Our rep, Silvia, was very communicative, helpful, friendly, and professional. I would absolutely recommend her to anyone moving forward. The prices were good and the car was in good shape.The only reason I give the dealer 4 stars is the entire time we were waiting inside to do paperwork to finish the sale, 2 older male Hertz sales employees were sitting on the porch outside cursing (several f-bombs) and talking poorly about past customers. The door to the inside was open and we could hear it all. Gave the experience a negative and very unprofessional feel when everything else was good.

Would never buy a car from this place based on that garbage service we received. I dont know the girl’s name, but she had long, dark hair and a BAD attitude. I don’t recommend this place at all.

Its very busy over there, inventory changes hourly is seems, but if youre willing to do a little work to this is a great place to get an awesome deal on a vehicle right now.I hate car salesman and dealerships but Mark wasnt so bad, he helped me find what I was looking for and didnt try to push me in any direction. He just asked questions, listened and showed me the 3 vans they had that met my needs. They didnt have exactly what I wanted on the lot, but but from memory recalled there being one at another location. Sure enough there was and he had it there the next morning. I came in and he closed the deal for me as quickly as possible.They are VERY busy right now, so dont expect to be doted and by a salesman hovering over you and asking you endless questions about your family and travel tips. I prefer less interaction of that type anyway.If I come to a dealership its because I already know what I want and am ready to by. I dont need to be sold to. I bought a car from Hertz Rental Sales about 6mos ago. I called them to see if a battery is covered under their 1 year extended warranty. Normally it is not but the manager there honored it for me due to the current crisis & financial difficulties. I truly cannot thank Hertz enough for helping me through this. I am eternally grateful. I highly recommend this place if you’re looking to purchase a car. Prices are extremely fair and it was a very pleasant experience unlike other dealerships. All staff was friendly and helpful. I’ve never left a one star review before but am now because dealing with these people is a nightmare. I called to verify that a specific car was on the lot, and Sylvia verified that it was - I drove all the way to the dealership and when I got there, not a single person offered to help, I had to butt in to a salesman’s 10 minute conversation to just to ask a simple question about that specific car. “Where is the car?” Both the salesman and the sales lady were incredibly RUDE and DISSMISSIVE! They obviously DON’T work on commission because it was very clear that they didn’t care if I spent tens of thousands of dollars on a car or not. The car wasn’t even on the lot, even though the website said it was and the sales lady on the phone said it was, which she was also rude about. What a horrible experience

Hertz is effectively refusing to refund nearly $17K for a vehicle that was returned due to safety defects. Purchased a 2018 Nissan Rogue and returned it a few days later due to defective safety/collision avoidance system. Since the vehicle was failing I purchased an alternate vehicle. Things went from bad to worse. Hertz failed to notify the lender of the return and I now have 2 loans and only received one functional vehicle. Seemingly, no one wants to respond to my requests now that the have been paid for 2 cars while only successfully selling one. Another issue was the fact that at times the sales people increased the prices of the cars by $1500+ compared to the online prices. It was interesting to receive price quotes that varied when asking different sales people. Please be cautious if you chose to do business with this facility. I plan to write a more detailed summary once Hertz responds properly.
Didnt feel valued and our salesman acted un-engaged with us. He seemed irritated that my daughter was undecided on what vehicle was best for her. I gave two stars because he did let her test drive the cars she wanted but ultimately didnt help facilitate a sale. We ended up purchasing a vehicle at a different Hertz with a much better sales person. He understood my daughter was a first time car buyer and helped her make a decision on the vehicle she ultimately bought. When she texted him (Garrett is his name; Salesman at Hertz Kearny Mesa), later that evening thanking him for his time but saying we were going elsewhere to purchase the car, he responded, I figured. I wont be recommending my friends to this Hertz location. Pretty crummy customer service.

Just recently bought a car there and the process seemed smooth sailing. The only major complaint I have is we had already brought a check from our bank and told them we didn’t want to finance through them and they said that was okay. They still ran my wife and I’s credit so our scores had dropped even tho we weren’t going through them for the purchase. They claimed they did it anyways to see if they could get us a lower APR even though I originally said I wanted to go through my bank and that was it. This being said, it screws us over for future purchases when it comes to our credit. I’d recommend to anyone who’s financing through their own bank to stress that they DO NOT run your credit as well unless you authorize them to do so.
As long as I can remember, used cars dealers have not had a reputation for honesty, trust and integrity. Combine that with how people feel about a used car from a rental fleet and its surprising that this place could survive.As far as being a former rental car, the one thing you can count on is that they have all their service records and are serviced regularly. Furthermore, chances of them being rented and driven into the ground because its not their car is slim.If thats the main concern, it doesnt need to be. If trust is the main concern, here are a couple of claims that are on Hertz Used Car web site that you can absolutely trust.No haggle and best prices.They will not haggle on price. If you want a lower price, look at a lower priced car, but as it turns out, they actually do have the best prices in San Diego.I cant speak on every car they have for sale, but the several that I had looked at, I did a quick research and they were all listed as either the best price or the second best price in San Diego, of all the same make, model, year and mileage, rated by independent web sites.Its definitely worth the look.

I went to this place about a month ago. The salesman who helped us was very nice and knowledgeable of the cars. We understood that they were a no-haggle dealership, but they wouldnt show us the how much we will be financing until we were ready to fully take the car. They basically try to trap you into a deal without thinking about it. Yes these vehicles are cheap, but you dont know what lies ahead.
I was confused by how laid back everyone was here and then realized they are not on commission so the lack of pressure is wonderful for the buyer. The cars are good value at 70% of the price yet with 85% of the miles left in most of the cars. Hertz sales is very calm and straight forward.
Dishonest business and fake low prices.They attract potential customers by posting low prices online but raise the price when you come in for a test drive.The lady called Sylvia lied to me on the phone saying that the car with the online price had been sold and she has a similar car but costs $1,300 more. However, it turned out it’s the same car when I compared the VIN number.Out of curiosity, I brought my online buying form to the office and the manager Bill admitted that they raised the price overnight. He refused to match the price on my buying form. What a waste of time! What a shame for a Hertz business!I have reported them to Hertz company and sincerely advise you to stay away from them.
Our shopping experience was very bad, and also the customer service is bad too. A few days ago we bought a 2018 Ford Explorer truck that turned out to be in poor condition. We paid 13 thousand in cash and the rest on credit, and when we received the car it was full of water and mud in the part where the spare tire goes, it seems that it was flooded and they did not check it before delivering us, we took photos and reported with Manager Ray (he was very unkind and rude to us from the beginning) .. told us to take the car to check it out and leave it for 3 days. Today we went to pick him up and he was still wet, my husband told the manager that the car was wet and the manager was angry and rude. our problem was not solved and the fear is that the car has serious problems because of the water and ours is lost by that bad sale ... that is fraud selling a car in poor condition! We were deceived and we will look for where to report the problem.
I bought my used car from this dealer ship 10 months ago. I have had four battery replacements since I got my vehicle from them. I tried to start my vehicle today after another battery replacement three months ago and my car would not start. I called the mechanic and dealership to clarify my warranty. Not only did Shaw who answered my call refuse to search up and confirm my warranty but I was yelled at. He yelled at me demanding I put 80k miles on my vehicle in less than a year but also told me I dont have warranty without looking up my information. He also stated because of Covid 19 theyre closed and arent even open for him to take my call. When I asked for the managers name he responded which one we have eight. Once I asked for his name he responded shaw, s.h.a.w you got it? And proceeded to hang up on me. Regardless of covid 19 and being open or not I have never been yelled at by an employee anywhere ever. To add salt to the wound I believe Shaw is the employee that sold my car to me and was so kind when I was buying the car from hertz. Awful customer service from Shaw and a terrible representative for Hertz dealership over all.
Got a great deal on a Kia Optima here after comparing prices around town! Staff is super friendly and definitely didnt try to haggle us, just took forever since they only had one financial person and there were 4-5 people ahead of us. Would recommend for a great deal, just plan to spend several hours here to purchase a vehicle which should be expected from most places.

Do your homework. All sales are final. Their selection isnt the biggest but if you find something there you like, theyll probably have it for the best deal (price for the mileage). Cars were previously rentals so were maintained pretty regularly.
While you test drive your future vehicle. I would take it to your personal trusted mechanic to make sure the vehicle is in the condition they claim its in. I purchased a used 2016 dodge grand caravan in June 2017 with 49,000 miles. Last week the transmission went out the van only has 71,000 miles. I called the company and my warrenty is expired. Since there is no extended warrenty. They said I had to pay for the repairs. I am a mother of three still paying a car payment for a vehicle that is not working. Who expect a transmission to go out so soon. My previous van I bought was brand new I kept till it had 203,000 miles. Only parts I repaired were normal maintenance, brakes, tires, alternator, and water pump. I had a lot of faith in Hertz, but they are not willing to help me out an anyway. How is this fair or good customer service. So please do your due diligence before investing in their vehicles.

I went in looking for a car and i was greeted by some old white lady. She looked like she was in her 70s or 80s. You can tell that her tanning days were too many. She looked so old and wrinkled. She was disgusting to look at. Take it easy with the tanning white lady... Well, I felt she was bit rude at the way she treated me, because of my Latino origin. Hertz needs to get some Latinos working there, preferably some Spanish speaking Latinos. Nobody wants to deal with some 80 year old looking, rude, wrinkled white lady.
Sylvia and Dave went an extra 2 miles to get me into the car that I had my mind set on. Great customer service and friendly staff. My first car purchase and it was painless and easy with no haggling. Thanks Hertz and Sylvia and Dave.
Overall a great experience. The car sales people are not pushy at all. Worked with David Dawson and he was great. He was personable, patient, friendly, and knowledgable. Prices are below KBB and the Mazda 3 I bought had lots of great features for the price.
Sales people in the lot are cool and your time with them is quick easy and legitimately hassle free its the shady guy in the little office you have to worrie about.Pay attention around that dude or it will cost ya in the end.
Absolutely ridiculous! My husband and I went in wanting to buy a Nissan Pathfinder, the lady helping us was so rude and not welcoming at all. She should not be working here if she doesnt like her job. She didnt even give us her name. She had attitude the whole time, and complained about how my husband was test driving the vehicle. We did our research before going, and we knew we wanted to buy, so she didnt even have to convince us. But when we asked if the vehicle could be vacuumed before purchasing (because it was full of dog hair) she acted so shocked and said no, we dont do that here she then handed an application to my husband and walked out of the office to help another customer. After 15 mins of her disappearing we walked out. Hertz, she needs to be talked to. Unacceptable. You lost a cash paying customer. Hire professionals.

NEVER BUYING A CAR AGAIN!!!!! These sales people are lazy, and dont have any organization what so ever. Mind you the dealership is a crapped up mobile home that smells like sweat and mold. Sales people are rude and pushy. And dont even sale the car, I had to research on my own and basically do all the work. They just sit out there on chairs and vape and speak about how they hate their jobs. Terrible customer service. Didnt even wash or fill up my car with has when I bought it. My gas light was on as I drove out of the lot.

I got a good deal on my purchase over there. The sales lady seemed like she didnt want to be at work that day. Not really rude but very short with me anyways got my little Suv an it took like five months for me to get my registration. They took for ever an a year to get the paper work to the DMV to change the title over to my name. The thing that burt my butt was I got a flat tire an went into the back for my spare tire an NOTHING! This SUV went threw a three point expection how in the hell did they miss that.. I called them an told them about what THEY missed in there expection. They told me they would order me a new one. Yup
My experience at Hertz Car Sales San Diego was AMAZING! As soon as we got there we were greeted with Welcome to Hertz, someone will be right with you. We looked around for a few minutes and I found the car that we were looking for Yarris. Our sales rep was Brad Eggum he was extremely polite, helpful and patient. He grabbed the keys off we went on our test drive. He gave us a plenty of time to think about it privately ; I still wasnt happy about my choice. He noticed that too. He spoke to us said there are plenty of cars, look around. Husband says lets check out the Versa Note...I fell in love immediately. My last car was a 2003 brand new Honda Civic....this had all the bells and whistles. Brad grabbed the keys, we test drove it and it was done. We were there for few hours but it was well worth it. They have a little patio with shade and Brad brought us some waters. Signed a few papers waited for their financial person Mona to call us in. Things with her went smoothly too! Wonderful person. Overall best experience buying a car ever. Prices are great, lower than KB and you can peacefully look around WITH OUT being harassed. BRAVO ZULU, Brad & Mona

Purchased a Toyota Yaris from this place less than a month ago and I noticed I could never get the mpg that these vehicles usually get just like another reviewer said. Worried I took it to the Toyota dealership after a quick inspection you can see they lied about their pre sale inspection because it never happened!Basic maintenance needed to be done, the engine oil wasnt changed smelled a bit burn and used, plus the air filter was filthy! You could tell it was probably never replaced since they obtained the vehicle. Had to pay all of this from my own pocket and who knows what else they didnt do on this vehicle that could affect it along the line! Just like the other reviewer said I think theres a strong case against Hertz, Im just very disappointed.Update: Before I bought the car I asked what every normal person would ask when buying a rental car and that was, has the car had maintenance COMPLETED before I get it? And they said yes knowing it didnt, and the sales person that responded to this is talking about warranty...? They still dont get it and are avoiding the issue.. 🤦🏻♂️

They’re nothing but a bunch of crooks! They lied to me about having a military discount, I paid for tags and never received them and when I called and asked about them they said I have to call the DMV. The DMV told me that I never paid so I had to pay for tags twice. Also within a month my brake and rotors had to be replaced and my brake fluid had to be flushed costing almost $400. Do NOT buy a car here if even their prices are cheaper than everywhere else you’ll end up paying more for repairs.

Purchase a 2016 Kia Sportage from 5370 Kearny Mesa Rd, San Diego CA. Salesman was Brad Eggum, Nov 20 2017, said no veteran discounts but assured me that 115 point inspection was done with 12 month warranty and 30 days bumper to bumper guarantee. Paid cash and few days later the windshield washer did not work, so I brought it to KIA to find that the hose was disconnected and even if it was the pump the warranty is for power train. Two days later and cost, $150 to diagnose and reattached tube. Called Hertz used car dealer 9am 3 times and finally, Ms. America answers to say the manager is not in and will call back in 3 hours. 4 pm I showed up to explain why no return calls and the manager in the back office made excuses saying he returnef the call but no answer. I have a smart phone! Then he said he will reimburse my cost for the service with in 30 days and assured me that there was 115 point inspection done. Then I notice 15mpg after 3 tanks of gas. Since I was lied to several times, decided to check the air filter, cabin filter and spark plugs. It was never changed and the 115 point inspection was also a lie. I have pictures and evidence and will present this in small claims court. Buyer Beware, this is how they treat a USAF Veteran and aircraft mechanic, Im sure there are more victims, they are the epitome of slimy used car dealership.

MANAGEMENT SHOWED UP AT MY HOUSE AFTER THE SALE TO DEMAND MORE MONEY! HARASSING PHONE CALLS AND EMAILS AFTER THE SALE TO DEMAND MORE MONEY! CLAIMS SOLD TO ME AT THE WRONG PRICE! These people wrote up the paperwork themselves, signed it, and then after the fact they start threatening me and intimidating me at my residence. I think it is gross misconduct from them to come to the home of the customer without permission or warning, and in such a hostile manner! R. Kocher, the Manager himself of this location, along with a salesman, B. Eggum thought this was appropriate action because they want to cover their butts for not doing their jobs right in the first place. They expect me to cover up the mistakes they made on the job!As management was leaving they said I am the reason the world is messed up the way it is... and numerous personal attacks and insults on my character and professionalism for not being willing to personally finance the harm they may be under from upper management for signing the car away at the wrong price.Now I have to fear that these unprofessional Hertz Car Sales thugs could show up at my house again, I have to worry they might try to damage my car, or otherwise sabotage my peace or happiness.Coming from a company, (rental car company), that systematically looks to overcharge and rip people off on a daily basis, It is funny how they dont want to accept any losses. It Hurts with Hertz!Also, this place is understaffed. It took me 4 hours to buy a car here, and I was already per-approved for credit.Lastly, the car they sold me had numerous problems. Dont trust their 70 point inspection. It was probably done by a used car salesman. My car has a dead battery, only one of the two $300 key-fobs for remote entry, and feathered tires that needed replacing (expected cost would be over $900).Youd be much better off buying a car from a private party. Id avoid these entitled unprofessional car thugs like the plague.

I actually had a great experience here. The lovely woman who assisted me was so kind and I got a great price. I am not going to lie, they are extremely busy, but just like any other car dealer you cant walk out in 10 minutes. I got there with my pre apprvoved loan and everything went through smoothly. I went there like a month ago, I arrived at 1:45pm asking information for a vehicle. I asked for a Spanish speaker salesmen and he went out 10 minutes later, i guess he was busy. While i was doing the test drive the first thing salesmen says what you see is what you get, no floor mats.After the drive test they took all my information, they said that i have to wait to the bank to respond for loan...ok I waited... not but 20 min, not 30, not 1 hours, or 2 hours... but 5 hours!!!!! I asked them for lunch and they said we are hungry too I purchased several cars in the past and other dealership offered me lunch while we wait, but not Hertz. After bank accepted my loan, it was less than 5 minute what it took to sign contract... no explanation, just sign here this is this and that but ok...He gave me my contract and paperwork and he gives me my permit in my hands to I stick the permit in the window instead of calling his salesmen to put it on... So i went outside looking for salesmen so he can put dmv permit and it took another 30 minutes because he was busy with another customer... But i waited again... I noticed that car did not have gas because was empty so I asked for gas and he said we do not do that so i guess no car wash either....Be prepared to wait along time here waiting outside, hungry, thirsty....and no contract in spanish even though I was for a spanish rep...btw good prices
Bought 2 cars here, very happy.
We were pressured into buying what ultimately was the wrong car for us by a sales person not well-versed in minivans. The problem is they are not specialized and have too many different types of cars to become well-versed in any of them. The sales person (Mike) was also really biased based on looks of the car, and ultimately persuaded us to buy a car that isnt right for our family. So we called the dealership back 2 weeks later to see if we could come back and buy a $8,000 more expensive car instead, and if they could work with us a bit on the trade-in value so we wouldnt have to take too much of a hit. I spoke to the General Manager, Randy, who promised he would see what he could do and get back to us the next morning. We NEVER heard from him again, even after calling back and telling them multiple times. He never even had the decency to call us back with a simple sorry, I cant really help you out. We were all set to spend $8,000 MORE (so a total of $23K on the new car) and he never even returned multiple phone calls! We feel totally scammed by these stereotypical USED car salesmen!
I know from experience they do not maintain their vehicles. Everyone thinks they do but the fact that theyre rentals and get rid of them after a year or so is why they do not put any money into them. The car I bought had the dirtiest air filter I have ever seen. The cabin filter was just as dirty. And they claim a 100+ point inspection.
