One of the most beautiful cafes I’ve ever tried! Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. There’s a gift shop inside that sells clothes, art, notebooks, beauty items, etc. Service was friendly, even when I forgot to ask for non-dairy milk in my drink. The military matcha was great, not too sweet. Highly recommend stopping by, especially with the Liberty Public Market right across the street, it’s a great location!
Was looking for a quiet place to hang out, get something to drink in between appointments and I wanted to try something new. I came to Moniker Coffee Company to see what they were all about.Since there was construction work being done on the coffee company side of moniker, I had to enter through the moniker General side of the business. This part of moniker general has clothing, jewelry and other unique and interesting items for sale. After looking around for a bit I made my way past the bar to the coffee bar and got in line to place my order. Realizing that it was getting later in the day, I knew the caffeine of coffee would not be a good thing for sleep that night. So I ordered a Golden Sunset, which is a milk latte with Tumeric, ginger and black pepper, sweetened with honey and your choice of milk. Yum!As I mentioned earlier, I was hoping to be able to sit down and get some work done. Unfortunately it was very busy and there was virtually no table space either inside or out and the sound of the multiple conversations made the location rather loud.I appreciated their menu and I really enjoyed what I ordered. And when I am back in the area I will definitely stop by and order again although it is not a place I will plan on going to when I need a quiet place to get some work done.
Definitely my new go-to coffee shop to study. The wifi works outside which makes studying biochemistry so much better. I got the pumpkin pie latte and the seaside toast with lox. Toast was good but nothing crazy. Coffee was great. The inside is open and bright and I absolutely love the vibe. Makes it easier to get work done when the weather is perfect!
This is a friendly coffee shop located one street away from the building. At school, the climate is more student-centered and welcoming. Ive come to the conclusion that its the neighborhood Starbucks, with more refined breakfast, lunch, and supper eating options. Its busy, but with a thin band of outdoor seats, the inside is beautifully planned out. Ill come back here again!
Nice place, very open and airy. You can sit inside or outside. There is a lot of seating available. Not stuffy at all. Good coffee. The workers are very nice and quick. There is also a boutique shop connected to Moniker
This place is so adorable! All my times at Liberty Station, this was my first time taking a peak into this place after walking off our meal at The Presley. We originally came her for cocktails but due to CoVId, they were not serving. So the next best thing was to try their coffee! Its that time of year for pumpkin flavored everything! So I got the pumpkin spice latte. They guy asked me hot or cold. I said hot, and he made a questionably gasp as if this drink was meant to be cold and Im taking a risk drinking it hot? Anyhow, it was delicious. Just the right amount of sweetness and pumpkin flavor. The space is connected to a boutique next door. You can shop or chill at their tables. The staff were in masks and I saw them cleaning often by spraying down tables when customers left.
Talk about a viiiibe. This is a place to be seen and if you werent on trend already you could easily pick up a new pair of shades or a whole new outfit on their retail side.Ample staff and the man who took my order was adorably friendly.I was about to stereotype this coffee shop as just Grammable but then I saw they use big ice cubes. Fun fact, big cubes melt slower and allow the coffee to be chilled and not watery. Also the ice machine that produces these is the Rolls-Royce of ice machines and it goes to show that the business invested to provide a quality product. Double check for the deliciously flavorful coffee.Cocktails start at noon. Midi skirt and felt hat not required ;)
Dont really care for the millennial open sort of spacing or atmosphere, though most would appreciate the aesthetic of a place like this, as it is rather nice by those standards. The reason I give it 5 stars is purely for the coffee. That coffee was amazing and I ended up buying 2 bags of the stuff. I drink a lot of coffee and this place was tops when it came to the actual coffee.
I love Monikers coffee, but you can’t depend on them for WiFi or a spot to plug in your stuff. I come here all the time and today is the worst experience I’ve ever had. WiFi not working at all. So many people having to use phone hot spots. Only two spots to plug in computer outside. An absolute mess. Don’t come here if you have work to do. It’s so frustrating that I spend so much money here and they can’t accommodate the amount of guests they have.
Moniker was a great place to hang out and while its coffee was very good I think what really sets it apart is the specialty syrups that they make (I’m a coffee purist and I promise it’s good). If you want some great, unique coffee, give Moniker a shot.Order: Cappuccino, Chocolate Covered Banana LatePrice: $11Review: my wife and I were wrapping up our day hanging out in the San Diego area and wanted to get a little bit more coffee before we went to dinner. Moniker jumped out at us because of the different unique lattes on their menu, their rating, and the location. They’re situated inside town center mall and surrounded by a lot of cute artsy shops that we spent some time perusing. They have lots of seating between their multiple indoor areas and their patio so you could definitely hang out here for hours.Normally my wife and I stick with traditional coffee and espresso drinks, pour overs, cappuccinos, maybe a vanilla latte, but in this case we were really intrigued by their house made syrups. I think that’s sort of Monikers signature. They had a few different syrups on offer and all of them seemed very unique but the one that really captured our attention was the chocolate covered banana syrup. It’s absolutely wild to say that because it’s not something I would ever imagine going in a latte but the barista talked us through it, and it’s a house made syrup which normally means it’s less sweet so we decided to give it a go.We were really glad we did. I’ve never had a cappuccino with such distinct hints of banana and chocolate without completely overpowering the drink. It was absolutely one of the most unique lattes I’ve ever had and incredibly good. The cappuccino was also great but it was kind of a standard well executed cappuccino. My only real critique here is that they didn’t offer pour overs. They had drip coffee but only one kind and they just didn’t offer the standard selection of single origin beans that you could use order for a pour over. I think that’s sort of works for them though because what they’re clearly going for is unique espresso drinks not single origin plane coffee. We really loved Moniker and would probably be back in the future if we had more time.
Best Caramel latte I’ve found in SD so far! I wish they had a second location outside of Liberty Station. Line is long and the location is hard to get to on weekends.
Im still amazed and delighted to have had such delectable cuisine! Its a pleasant hangout that we frequent whenever were in town. The majority of the customers know one other and want to talk over a great cup of coffee.
If you dont like the sound of commercial airliners flying overhead at 500 feet every 5-10 mins, you might not like hanging out here. On the other hand, if you find the sound of 30,000 lbs of thrust from a CFM56 engine soothing like I do, youre going to love this place. Also, the coffee and food is quite good. Theres a lot of room to work or hangout, tons of tables both inside and outside, not to mention its located within a greater market place so theres lots of other stores as well.
Beautiful interior but terrible coffee and expensive. Got the Hawaiian latte and mint and both tasted like water. Looks like a nice place to hang out but the expensive drinks are not worth it.
The most trustworthy coffee shop! Highly recommended for both meetings and social gatherings, as well as for its pleasant atmosphere. They work hard to provide us with the best service possible, going above and beyond our standards. Have faith in me! Without a doubt, you will never be disappointed! Im sure Ill return again and again. Thats fantastic!
Super good! Always love going here. Worth the drive from north county, especially to show off to a friend. I usually get a flat white, because they’re made correctly here. I love e flavor of their espresso. The cashier is usually very nice and friendly, the baristas are focused but sometimes say hi. The atmosphere in Moniker coffee is very pretty and relaxing. Usually a lot of people working, studying and hanging out. Plenty of seating! Had a date here today and she loved it, we went over to the general store afterward to shop around.
This coffee shop has a comfortable and relaxing ambiance with nice lighting. The coffee is very sweet and affordable. They have lots of seating and a nice bench outside the shop also. All of the staff are accommodating and attentive to all my needs. They treat me so well to my full satisfaction. I highly recommend this first-class coffee shop.
Open concept space with lots of seating inside and out. Its connected to a cute little store if you want to look at knick knacks while waiting for your order. Staff was kind and very quick with all the orders I saw. I got the Salted Caramel Latte and it was rich but I couldnt really taste the salt; it was more of just a lightly sweetened latte. The price is a bit steep $5.75 plus tax for the smallest size. I didnt try the food but the menu did look like it had potential to be good.
Cute coffee shop/creative space/ store. The line to order was long a moved a bit slow. After ordering I waited another 5-8 mins for my drink. Definitely cant be in a rush when ordering on a weekend.
Their nitro cold brew is super bitter with none of the creamy and airy textures that you typically get with a nitro cold brew. Disappointed because there are so many people that rave about their coffee.
They have a good selection of coffee and the cookies that are perfect for pairing. The place was nice and was oozing with the best-smelling aroma a coffee could offer. I was very happy and satisfied with my experience in this coffee shop. I really felt that I was special and welcome. Highly recommended!
Amazing atmosphere and great coffee. All around super good.
Great coffee!! Friendly and quick service. Light, open & clean
Ive been here many times due to work proximity. The cold brew is rather mediocre at the 5 dollar price point, with added one dollar charge for alternative milks. My lattes often have an astringent flavor which is either from bad beans or pulling the shot too quickly and burning, but could not say for sure. After they stayed open for the duration of COVID and allowed their guests to sit indoors with no masks, Ive decided to not return at least for a while. Ive recently discovered that the Moniker brand is run by the Neighbor company, who also run the mega-church Rock Church, which use the marketplace and coffee shop to financially support their church and ministry. The shop serves as a meeting place for many of the church-goers outside of worship and support missionaries, conversion, and gentrification as described on the Neighbor website. The place is pretty and the workers are nice, but I will be choosing to spend my money elsewhere.
It looked tiny from the outside but when you step inside it doesnt feel that way. Youll instantly feel the coziness and comfort because of its simple and homey interiors. The coffee also is so addictive! I so love the taste. You can bring all your friends here. Highly recommended!!
Great specialty drinks and nice atmosphere.
Its a great cafe to work from, with outdoor tables shaded by trees and umbrellas. Lots of people with computers seem to be using the cafe as a work space, and the interior design and furniture has changed to suit that - variety of high and low tables, and seating close to outlets, in addition to the sofas for socializing.
Cool spot. Good space to study. Had a tasty coconut matcha latte.
Theyve got everything you need! I highly recommend this shop to all of my family and friend who also love coffee. I came here yesterday, and I was so happy and satisfied with the overall service. You guys really deserve an award! Thanks for your kindness, guys! Cheers for your success! Highly recommended coffee shop!
Great coffee and work space! Definitely give them a try!
Relaxing atmosphere. Friendly staff. Great coffee. The only issue would be the location. Not too far away are the planes taking off. I feel bad that this is an issue that they cant fix.
Excellent coffee. Lovely feeling lying by the window watching cars drive by. The employees are lovely and I would highly suggest a visit to anyone in the city.
Love love love this place! Great coffee and nice vibe. Meet a friend here once a week for an early morning coffee and a walk along the bay. In the evening they serve cocktails and they have a nice small menu of breakfast items and lunch choices. Nice outdoor and indoor seating. They also offer a rewards card for frequent fliers! Dairy free peeps can get Califia Barista Blend almond milk! Always delicious!
It was my first visit to your coffee shop and I was very happy with your service. Your employees were all very friendly and knowledgeable. Also, the venue was very clean and organized. I would highly recommend all of my family and friends to your Coffee Shop. Cheers for more clients!
Great spacious layout. Clean and relaxing to study or have a coffee date etc.Staff was friendly.
Iced coffee so watery I just threw it away . The other coffee drinks were better. Hawaiian coffee ok.
I was happy and very satisfied. I love the vegetarian pasta and sandwiches. Its really a nice place. I would recommend this to others. We are here for lunch.
Super cool spot to study or relax. Insanely smooth cold brew with a subtly sweet finish.
Very very good service. I felt welcomed immediately. I have a delicious cafe latte that was fairly priced. The other drinks I saw looked good too!
It reminds me of another coffee shop, but better than that. This little gem of a spot should be tried. Special for a coffee shop. Very good, very very good!
The coffee here is so good and the place is so nice, Nice and friendly staff.
I came to moniker to test the coffee and I can confirm this is one of the few outposts in the war against bad coffee. Excellent cappuccino. I can confidently bring Australian friends and family here and not be disappointed. Thanks for being awesome.I didnt eat here but everything looks promising, the decor is relaxed and cosy and the staff are really nice.
Great coffee, great aesthetic, wonderful staff!
Great place! Always SUPER busy. The cold brew is among my favorite in San Diego. Very cute inside with plenty of seating indoors and outdoors. They also serve cocktails!
Beautiful interior, great, creative, coffee options. Slightly expensive.
Fabulous staff. Coffee is exceptional! Indoor and outdoor seating. Dog friendly. Good vibes all around.
Great craft coffee. The store is beautiful with lots of beautiful arts and crafts item.
This place used to have great coffee but I went in there the other day and their coffee was horribly acidic
Its the best coffee shop on the planet. A sort of Garden of Eden. The manager, Jimmy, is super awesome, loves people, and takes the time to accommodate everyone, especially repeat customers, with the upmost hospitality. He also takes the time to get to know them. His staff is beyond great. Again, the best coffee shop on the planet. Come visit, enjoy the wonderful tastes, and the staff.
Its popular among all college kids a place you can hang out and chill...great place to see and be seen..next to the best art galleries in SD...array of brews to Vodka sodas to T-Shirts...you will love this hot spot..try it..thank you for viewing D Third Eye
Expensive but delicious and cool atmosphere
We got 3 different drinks and they were all WACK but the baristas were very nice and helped me pick my drink which was WACK. The hot drinks started spilling immediately after we grabbed them as well. Not stonks :(
A great place to hang out (seating inside & outside), great environment to work or study
Moniker Coffee is my all time favorite San Diego coffee shop. Not even just San Diego, its my favorite coffee spot ever. The vibes inside are so good, the decor is kind of like minimalist-industrial, and the coffee is incredible every single time. Perfect flavor, perfect temperature, love every coffee Ive tried so far. If youre not in the mood for coffee you can walk 5 feet around the bar and order a craft cocktail which is also incredibly delicious (bar opens at 12). It’s easy to hang out or get some work done and its inside of Moniker General which is a unique store space with carefully curated premium goods. It’s a wide open space, a good amount of seating, tons of natural light and air flow for the hot days! Also, the baristas and staff are so friendly and knowledgable. Great space in a perfect location with best coffee in San Diego - highly recommend!
Full bar AND coffee? Cant ask for anything more, except maybe more indoor seating. It gets crowded especially when it is chilly outside. Beautiful outdoor seating, but maybe when the weather is warmer in spring/summer. Great meeting spot and love the decor/vibe of the staff and interior!
I dont visit coffee shops too much, but this is one of them. Theres also a large range of coffees to choose from.
Their latte is great, the space is large with a little store and cute patio!
Spent a very pleasant afternoon here working remotely. Latte and gluten-free brownie were excellent. Seating was very comfortable. Will definitely come back.
Great coffee! I was so sad when Con Pane shut down but then I found this place. I only ordered a drip coffee, but it was really good. Not bitter or over roasted. They do have a breakfast toast menu and some other items plus a pastry case (croissants, muffins, loafs). Okay place for kids; lofted ceilings may not go over well if your little one likes to scream or talk loud, but plenty of room to roam and some comfy couches
Got there about one, it wasnt busy. The staff was very helpful and welcoming. The bill was average for the menu.
This place has an amazing selection of strong coffee with a very friendly staff to help you out if you love coffee go here!
Great atmosphere at any time of the day. I usually go to coffee shops at night to do some work/studying and this place has such a homey feel at night. Coffee is solid and the small businesses in the back are fun to peruse through.
Yo - great coffee and snacks. Stopped in here to work for a few hours to work and got nothing done because the people watching was so good. I will be back with blinders and headphones. ✌️
Superb coffee and an incredible space
Baristas were helpful. Good coffee and great avocado toast. Atmosphere is very laid back. Will definitely come again.
Excellent in many ways. Great space, great ambience. The vanilla latte was one of the best I’ve had.Keep up the great work, team!
A beautiful space to sit back read, have a chat with a friend and listen to a good soundtrack. It is definitely not a quiet location during any part of the morning, so if you are looking for a space to study or work and need a bit of quiet, may want to look elsewhere. The coffee and other drinks are good but definitely not of the quality you would expect from a place with this kind of setup.
Love this place. Its a hipster-modern feel coffee shop. Good coffee. Decent amount of seating inside and outside. Super chill vibes. I frequent quite a bit. In Liberty Station, that beautiful place. You do get the loud airplanes that fly by, but its expected in this area. Also, has a bar.
BrenLBeen vomimgtcoming herechere for about 3 years. They always have something new but they also the great classics. The ambiance was always great however due to social distancing their is only the patio but its very nice.
Pretty cool coffee spot, of course plenty of parking in Liberty Station. Pretty ample seating, but be prepared to share your table if you are solo. They play music loud, so headphones.Got the salted caramel, it was good! Its also got a hipster store with it, so you can peruse that too.
Wow great place. A stay all day kind of vibe and feel productive doing so place. Very friendly folks too
Theyve been out of mocha twice in the last week -- they got more in and then immediately ran out again. They claim their holiday drinks use mocha and have been really popular, but anyone with two brain cells should know that if youre going to have a specialty drink, you should order extra of the ingredients. The fact that they planned so catastrophically poorly as to run out of the basic ingredients multiple times in the span of a week (when they werent even open some of the days of that week!) goes to show how unprofessional and sloppy they are.
Awesome atmosphere. Good coffee
