I highly recommend this place for all you sea gear rental needs! Super friendly staff and four legged friends!!! Rentals are easy and inexpensive! You’ll get the gear all day with tips from the staff on how to get the best experience. I recommend that you pick up your gear as soon as they open and find parking down by the beach early in the day. It gets a little crazy in the afternoons.

DO NOT GO HERE. Twice they have canceled our tours hours before departure. Once we book a spearfishing trip online and they cancelled because they didnt even have their license to guide this. Second time they canceled our lobster dive two hours before because the waves were too high. We saw the beach and there is no waves right now. Called the shop and the manager was very rude and impatient. He would not offer a credit for another tour nor would he help us get our money back from Groupon. Very unimpressed.

We had a Groupon.... totally worth it! What an experience. Our guide was super knowledgeable and friendly. We went snorkeling and had a blast. The La Jolla cove is absolutely gorgeous. Cheap water suit rentals. They even let us rent a sealed go pro so we got to film/take pictures under water with the fishes! Such an awesome experience, I highly recommend! Definitely want to try some of the other experiences they offer!

We had a great experience snorkeling with Garrett as our guide! He explained things clearly and made sure we were safe, comfortable, and having a good time while out in the water. It was an experience I would definitely recommend whether youve gone snorkeling before or not. The company is also easy to book with and quick to answer any questions.

We had a great time on our snorkeling tour with Jack as our guide. Jack did a great job educating us and ensuring our safety. He made our tour a lot of fun and even recommended some great restaurants around the area. I would definitely come back and do the tour again!

Had an amazing time on the 4:30pm snorkeling tour with Garrett. Waters were quite clear (though some deeper areas were a bit murky), we were able to see multiple species of fish in the shallow waters. Garrett was very knowledgeable in going over safety principles, pointing out fish, and leading us through the waters. Would definitely come here again and try some of the other tours!

Though Garrett was nice and really knowledgeable on the ocean, he was not very good with education. We bought the Groupon because it said great for beginners, meaning first-timers in my head... when we got to the cove the only instructions that were provided were to walk backwards into the water. That was it. Once we got in the water there was no instruction on swimming with the flippers, using the snorkel gear, or even any practice time to get comfortable with swimming before Garret was in the water leading the group towards the cave that was only 2 football fields away. I am an average swimmer but thought that this tour would provide education with snorkeling before actually getting straight into the excursion.I unfortunately stayed back because of not feeling comfortable but after hearing feedback from the rest of the group, which a majority were first timers as well, they said that they didnt really feel supported or assisted by the guide with simple things like snorkel gear issues or anxiety to the waves/open water. A couple others in the group called it quits early after coming back from the cave because again, not much instruction from him.I do not recommend this for first time snorkelers, but if you have experience snorkeling then I imagine you will have a great time visiting the cave and swimming around the cove. Next time around I will rent my own snorkeling gear and practice near the shore where I can get acquainted with the equipment.

Just finished a snorkel and cave tour with Trevor. He was fanstistic! Very friendly and gave us tips on different places to visit on our vacation. As a tour guide he was super helpful and make sure the group was able to always see him and he made sure everyone felt safe with our swim. Highly recommend him!I didnt catch the owners name but he was also a great guy, helped me get a prescription mask in less than 2 days before our tour, and was very reasonably priced. Im not sure why people are saying he has a bad attitude, he was incredibly helpful. Overall a great experience!

This is a two star review because I have a close friend a diver. When you breathe through the plastic for air you remember you are keeping at that height to look at the colors of the sea. Your photo profile on attractions got me to find this and the lady had fun breathing through. In the photo. The goggles are funny looking.

I went on the 2 hour spearfishing tour, and I loved it! An experience not many people have. The guide will tell you what kind of fish youre looking for and theyll supply the gear you need. Heads up its 10$ to rent a wetsuit, so I brought my own. Dont get turned off by the negative comments about the people who work there.I can see why people have beef with the guy behind the counter, but hes had a good guy and it was a good experience. Just remember to give everyone the respect they deserve! And dont forget to tip your guide 😉 they work hard to keep you safe. Always tell the guide when you feel uncomfortable or tired in the water! Theyll do everything to help you out.That being said make sure youre a strong swimmer! I was practicing in a deep pool for 2 weeks beforehand, and Im so glad I did. The ocean is a different animal. You wont regret going here!

Definitely the best freedive shop in San Diego (trust me, Ive been to all of them) and have gotten 99% of my gear here. Their lower end gear is still great quality and good for anyone getting into diving. Their higher end gear is less expensive than anywhere else in San Diego. Would recommend this place for all skill levels.

I had scheduled a snorkeling tour for 7/16, we had called couple times on 7/15 to reschedule BECAUSE WE ARE SICK but their mailbox was full. We finally got a hold of them on on 7/16 and we got told that they were going to charge us anyways. Both Jennifer and Rob said that it was up to us if we wanted to go in SICK but regardless they were going to charge us. We have been looking forward to this experience but now we won’t be able to enjoy it. AGAIN ALL WE WANTED TO DO WAS RESCHEDULE FOR THE SAFETY OF OTHER PEOPLE AND OURSELVES.

Yesterday my friend and I went scuba diving, our tour guide, Jack, was awesome & made our day very enjoyable. He was very kind & made sure everyone was okay & on the same page. I had lots of fun & would definitely go back !

Had a group of 8. It was my first time ever in the ocean. Our instructor Jack was extremely helpful with everyone even gave us some cool spots to visit while in Cali. Got to see some really neat fish and even sea lions. Found a few shells but did not get to keep them. I already want to go back again.

Garrett was a great tour guide! He was pleasant and very knowledgeable. We had a wonderful time!! Would highly recommend! Thank you La Jolla Water Sports for the memories!

We found LJWS on Groupon, and the Cave Snorkel Tour was a great experience for the price! The woman working in the shop was very nice, they had a couple shop dogs to hang out with while you wait for your tour, and tour guide Ross was friendly and very patient, even though we were his third tour at the end of his very long day. I believe they were short staffed (like everyone nowadays), but he had a great attitude. I became a bit hesitant during the introduction, because they’ll tell you it’s a percent lengthy swim to the caves, and PFDs are not allowed (actual La Jolla Cove rules, not the company’s rules). Surprisingly, the wetsuit is pretty buoyant and the flippers make swimming much easier. The caves were pretty cool, just unfortunately it was a very brief stop. Seeing all the seals and sea lions so close was pretty neat. If I can offer any suggestions to LJWS, you should mention something about your prescription snorkel/goggles to folks while still at the dive shop… My wife and I didn’t know that was even a thing, until we’re unloading the van at the cove and are told we can’t wear our glasses. We unfortunately did the tour basically half-blind. I’d absolutely book again with these guys!

Went on the cave snorkel today with Garrett as a birthday surprise from my husband. We were 2 of 4 in the group, which seemed unusual for them, as the busses before and after us were packed, but one girl from our bus stayed on the sand (I think the cold water and idea of having to swim was a bit overwhelming for her). Anyway it was no big deal and the 4 of us went out, saw fish, Garrett directed us towards sea lions and a guitar shark that he seemingly saw with spidey senses. He also took us into the caves. Were both experienced swimmers and have snorkel gear, but having someone familiar with the area was super reassuring for our first time out. There are a lot of kayakers and snorkelers around. Garrett gave us tips for if we want to come back on our own at some point, and was very knowledgeable about the local sea life.

The woman who answered the phone was extremely rude. 7/29/21 @ 9:50 am. I was calling two reserve snorkeling equipment for two Groupons I purchased for snorkeling equipment. She told me I had to reserve the equipment on their website and it had to be done 48 hours in advance. I asked if there was anything that could be done because we wouldn’t be in SD in 48 hours. *Also, the Groupon didn’t specify 48 hours reservation requirement. She responded there was nothing that could be done and to contact Groupon for a refund. She seemed to be irritated by the Groupon purchase. Generally businesses sign up for Groupons to promote and drum up business.

I went snorkeling for the first time with La Jolla watersports and I had a blast. Chris was the best . He was very patient and calm. He made the experience so much easier for me because I almost had a panic attack LOLZ. Thank you again.. I will be returning for the lobster dive hopefully this winter season ...

July 5th 3pm la Jolla Cave Terrible. Guide horrible, granted it was a busy day but we had to wait for an hour for the bus to come and things happen of course. The guide didn’t have any idea what to do instead of trying to figure it out continuously harassing my gf and not leaving her alone, to the point she had to ask a random for a phone as the bus was 45 minutes and he had no clue what to do or even thought about calling and also for him to leave her alone and give her space.

Bought a GroupOn for this place. They cancelled on me 4 times, including a pre- wedding lobster dive reunion with my brothers. GroupOn wont refund me cause its expired and the owner says the only way I can redeem is through a tour instead of putting toward an in-store purchase - tours that always get cancelled. TLDR Im out $68.

Awful place took advantage of my young daughter who somehow booked for 4 people instead of 2 … who knows might have been a computer reservation glitch on their part but they charged her $125.00 extra even though there were other people to take the spot. When I called the manager to ask for a refund of the two unordered spots he was rude. Ultimately they are loosing more business from me because we come vacationing three times a year and have brought quite a few people to them. Awful management stay clear and try another place.

Our tour was cancelled due to conditions but they managed to rescedule us the following day. Brooke was an incredibly patient and knowledgeable. Our group of six had never been snorkeling before. Brookes main focus was on safety. She tested our ability before letting us loose, making sure we each felt comfortable in the water and breathing through the mouthpiece. I couldnt believe how close to the sea lions you get. I was able to swim up close with a momma sea lion and her pups just a couple of feet away. I located several lobsters and plenty of sardines. The plant life was beautiful and vibrant. I cant wait to watch the video recorded on the gopro we rented from the dive shop. Thank you Brooke. This was a fantastic trip for my husband and myself. What a fantastic memory. Well worth it! I will be back to do it again.

Im glad I didnt listen to the negative reviews, I had a fine experience here. I showed up at 4 a was greeted my one of the male employees. He answered my 150 questions regarding gear and set me up with a nice spear, tip, mask and weight belt. He even exercised great patience while I took 10 minutes to figure out which mask fit my face. Overall I was pleased with the shop, and very impressed by the wide selection of spear fishing gear and masks. Ill definitely be back.

Called me to reschedule my reservation timeless than an hour before the tour time (noon) because they were understaffed that day. So they can tell you its a no go less than an hour before the tour, but if you cancel or reschedule within 48 hours theyll charge you regardless.

We went at the beginning of August and did the cave snorkel tour. Brooke was exceptional in what she did. The tour had my wife and I who were great swimmers and then two other girls who were not great swimmers at all. She was able to make it enjoyable for both parties. The shop was great to work with and will use them again.

No one showed up for my reservation. I waited over an hour and the not a single employee showed up. I was told to be there 10 min before 9 and I stayed till 1010. I emailed and called and got no answer/reply. I was very upset since I was so excited

Chris was so great! The best part was swimming with the sea lions! We were so close to them. We went to the LA Jolla caves which were beautiful. Chris actually dove down and showed us some lobsters and abalone shells up close. Its was super cool! Definitely recommend for all ages.

Would HIGHLY recommend NOT using this company. After flying all the way to California...only staying a few days this company canceled on me just now about a few hrs before my tour today. Apparently they could not accommodate me now. After talking with a completely sassy rude employee on the phone I now have nothing planned while on my short trip today, and need to deal with being reimbursed.

My daughter talked me into doing a snorkel tour with my grandson. Loved taking this tour. Our tour guide John, was the best. He was very patient with my almost freak out at the beginning. My mind needed some convincing that it was okay to breath WHILE my face was in the water. He made sure he was always aware of how i was doing while keeping interactive with the rest of the group. When I got myself into a pickle with a leg cramp but he was awesome. He knew exactly what to do to calm me down and got me to the shore. I WILL be TOTALLY doing this again and hope that John will be willing to take me out again. LOL.

Had an adventure in my own back yard! Nice to get out into the water and check the SD sea life! Chris A. Was the best, guess it helps to love what you do! Learned more in 2 hours than I would have ever thought!

So we did the snorkel with leopard sharks...our guide Chris was did amazing job helping us find spot the sea life and identity them. He gets 10 stars. He was very knowable and patient with us. He apologized many times for us having to wait on the hot sidewalk for almost an hour wait for a ride back to the shop. I felt bad for Chris...because the lack of organization put him in a bad spot, especially when he works for tips. They could definitely be better organized and ahould do something about their shabby wet suits. The guy working in the shop was rude and despicable. The dog had more personality and was way more friendly. He needs to brush up on his people skills, no stars for him. But dont let his rude behavior keep you from this fun experience.Chis make up for what the guy in the shop lacked. Hope Chris knows how much all the customers appreciate his talents..thank you.

On July 19th, my son and I did some snorheling in La Jolla. The equipment was in order. Our guide was competent and friendly. We saw sea lions and different fish. The experience was unique. I highly recommend.

We did the La Jolla cove snorkel tour. Our guide (charlie) was great! very friendly and knowledgeable about the area and cove. While we enjoyed the tour itself, there are a few things La Jolla Water Sports can do better:1.My biggest complaint is the condition of their equipment. A few of the snorkels in our tour were leaking (mine included), which really defeats the whole point of going on it when you have to come up for air every minute. Also, some of the wet suits looked like theyd been through a blender they were peeling so badly. As customers, we are paying to rent your equipment as well as for your guidance - test it regularly and make sure its still in working condition.2. the website is very adamant about showing up early or you will be left behind. Our group waited a good half hour at least for 2 people who showed up 5 minutes after the time we were supposed to leave. While they were (very slowly) getting ready, the rest of us were stuck waiting there in our wet suits that we had now been in for 20-30 min since we showed up as recommended. Punctuality is important, dont aggravate the rest of your customers waiting for the two who are late.Overall, if you can get a coupon its a good deal. Should you choose to go here, I would recommend that you have them test your equipment prior to leaving the shop.

Went snorkeling for the first time ever! Most amazing experience with an excellent instructor/guide! Pointed out lots of fish, sharks, and took us into the caves in la Jolla also! These people are amazing! Would highly recommend going here! Everyone was super friendly, helpful, and made sure my experience was the best it could be!

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY. If I can give zero stars I would, the owner is completely rude and unprofessional—you’re better off talking to their dog which would probably listen. I had purchased snorkeling package for two on Groupon, we booked the appointment few days before for OCTOBER 2 and we told them that we got it from Groupon (they would see if it’s completely valid) we also called multiple times to make sure we’re set for october 2 because the owner was completely rude and shrugged off questions...and of course, on the day of our Snorkeling, they said our voucher was expired on October 1st. They also said that we have to pay the difference if we want to still go. My only question was, why did they still book us for October 2 if they saw that the voucher expires on October 1st—he couldn’t even answer that. I URGE YOU TO TRY ELSEWHERE, less stress and better service. This one star is only for the dog, not the owner.

I went here today just for some information about lobster tours, and general info about Night diving and spearfishing. They were extremely helpful and informative, they have a lot of gear and options, and I will definitely be returning for gear and to book a trip!

I went on the Lobster Diving tour on opening night and it WAS AMAZING! I caught a legal sized lobster and it was delicious! So as soon as the weather warmed up I went on the Cave and Cove tour. We met our small group at the shop and Dani and Eldon got us suited up in very quality rental gear before giving a short safety and marine life talk. Then we loaded into a tour van and headed to La Jolla Cove. Dani was full of interesting information about local culture, tips for dining while we are in town and of course the coastal and marine life. Once we got to the cove we suited up and did a quick and easy swim test, then we headed to the caves! Dani was a wealth of information about the fish, kelp, birds, local history and rock formations, it was amazing to learn so much from her! She taught our group how to dive down and see even more types of fish and kept popping up with shells and critters to show us. It was an incredible experience! Back at the shop we were able to purchase equipment for a great price, I look forward to trying the spear fishing tours they offer soon! Cant wait to dive with you again La Jolla Watersports!

My spear fishing guide was outstanding! super nice and knows the sport of spear fishing very well! I have no problem giving him a 5 stars! BUT! the guy behind the counter needs a course on costumer service. He was rude and dry. I love, love to dive and surf and almost any kind of water activity. My expectations when I enter a dive shop are to find extra friendly people, (like my tour guide) not just to make a sale but genuine honest nice people. this guy is not one of them. I Dont write reviews, but after spending over 100 dlls at the shop, (spear fishing class plus fishing license) I though he would be a little nicer, but nop!!! When I approach him to let him know that I needed a fishing license he just reply in his dry non friendly way with his eyes steering at the computer : You need it for a day or the whole year? I hesitated for a second because I wasnt expecting to be ask that question, then I asked him how much was it for a day, and he kind of roll his eyes and told me the price. (may be because the shop is in la joya he thinks we all are rich!! NOT me!!!) I think that any other person working in a shop would have explain to me the difference in price with a smile.If it wasnt for my guide I would have given this shop 1 star. (I notice that the non friendly guy, wasnt as dry or rude to other costumers. BTW I was the only one with a foreign accent)

Just got done with an amazing snorkeling trip for our family of six. We saw a lot of fish and sea lions. We even got to go into one of the caves. Our guide, Spencer was knowledgeable about the sea life and La Jolla. He made sure we didn’t miss see any fish or sea lions. Definitely a highlight of our trip!

We went out with Rachel for lobster diving and had a great time! Rachel is very knowledgeable and encouraging. We, unfortunately, weren’t able to catch any but would definitely go back and try again with a tour or rent the equipment and go out without a group when the season starts back up in the fall. I’d highly recommend this experience!!

So much fun on the cove tour! I would love to come back and see them again. Our guide Rachel was even able to grab a couple sharks for us to hold. What an absolutely amazing experience!

My wife and I were very pleased with the snorkeling tour with our guide, Matt. He was very knowledgeable and very personable. He stopped often to talk about what we were seeing and every now and then dived down deeper to bring up animals from further down. We also were able to go to some areas we would not have ventured out to on our own. The price was very reasonable, especially with the Groupon, but also the prices on additional gear in the dive shop were very reasonable. Highly recommended as an introduction to snorkeling in La Jolla Cove.

I paid for spreadfishing. Customer service was okay, they can really work on it. The price was good, gear was cool. I ended not doing it chicken out. Water is not my thing but enjoyed the scenery and the area. Worker cold, no personality and they don’t even take time to build rapport with the customer. I’m from Orlando “Customer Service” is so much better. So make sure when you pay you are going to do because at they end they will look at your face and say whatever. At the end of the day I invested in someone pay check. 😊

Horrible dive shop. The man that answered the phone is completely unprofessional. I ordered a snorkel from them online and have not received it, its been a month and the guy offered no service to satisfy customers. Look on their Amazon account as well, they have horrible reviews of others no receiving their products. I would not recommend La Jolla water sports to anyone. Please refrain from this dive shop with completely unprofessional management.

Took my kids and my nephew.... Was such a great experience. They have never tried snorkeling so it was a first. The young lady behind the counter that helped us was very sweet and helpful. Please make sure that your employees are aware of the current state and business practices of your company.I called approx 2 weeks ago with a hypothetical: I wanted to fly down to SD for some lobster diving. With your website allowing booking of week night lobster tours, the assumption was that i would be able to sign up and take part in one of these tours. Not wanting to base an entire trip off of an assumption, i called and spoke with someone, directly asking I know most places will cancel a dive trip if not enough people sign up, is this your practice?. I was assured that No, if you sign up, you will get to go.The day of the tour rolls around and after calling to verify arrival time, was told that the trip was cancelled because Well you were the only one to sign up, so naturally, it was cancelled. After i went down to speak to the person working in person, i find out that your company hasnt even received the certifications required by the state to perform Lobster tours for this season yet.I understand the concepts of running a succesful business, and cancelling if the cost/benefit isnt in your favor (which is why i directly asked the question in the first place). But you need to make sure your employees are properly versed in the rules that you administer.Also, some kind of cancellation email or phone call would be nice if it was so obvious that the tour would be cancelled. I continued to get email reminders up to the day before about my scheduled dive trip, making sure to arrive on time. Had i not called before hand, i would have shown up at the designated time to a very closed dive shop.

Cant say enough about this dive shop. I did a spearfishing tour and had a blast. All the guides were extremely helpful. You can see the passion for the ocean from everyone working there. After our trip I decided to get some of my own gear and got a screaming deal on my spearfishing gear. I will be back. Thanks guys.

This place was great! Gear was quality stuff! I had an amazing tour. Felt super safe with my 13 year old and 15 year old! Would recommend to all my family and friends! Will be back next year on vacation!!

LJ Watersports is an awesome little store offering tour options for all sorts of marine activities such as lobster diving, spearfishing, or whatever you’re looking for. They also carry a solid selection of diving gear and fishing licenses.More than that they are a gathering spot for the local dive/spearfishing community. They have my support all the way!

Terrible company and even worse Customer Service. Stay away, and go to any and I mean go to any other company. The guy Roger or whoever he is who answers the phone is extremely rude and not helpful at all. DONT SPEND YOUR MONEY HERE, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!!

I cant say enough good things about La Jolla Water Sports. I purchased a groupon for the snorkeling tour. There were only 6 of us in the tour. Our guide was actually pretty knowledgeable and was great at finding cool things to show us that we missed in the water. I honestly almost booked another tour for the next day. The only cons were the guy behind the desk seemed miserable and was not very helpful, also the drive was a bit of a distance from the the cove. The shop dog and puppy were so incredibly cute. Make sure to give them lots of love. Dont go into this with high expectations or an extensive background in snorkeling or scuba. Have fun, after all isnt that what you are paying for? Oh and if you cant swim, then this probably isnt for you.

They have a great selection of freediving equipment here. The best Ive seen compared to other shops which focus mainly on scuba. Will definitely be coming back here for all my diving needs. Thanks again for the help today!

Disclaimer: When I booked this, I did not realize it would be a somewhat difficult/tiring swim. However, it is a lot of fun.I booked the reservation online then found a groupon to use. The company was great. Everything from fitting, to getting you to the drop location was easy. Our guide was awesome (I cannot recall her name, but she was very easy going and had dark hair). Unfortunately the day we went were record setting sea swells and the tour had to be cut short for safety reasons. As far as the company goes, I recommend them. They obviously have zero control over the weather, but they made the experience fun. My wife had an issue with her mask not fitting properly and the guide didnt hesitate to switch masks. The guide swam back the entire way with her head above water as she had no mask or snorkel.The cave was neat to, and for the price I paid for the groupon, I would absolutely recommend them to guide you into the cave.

I wish I had a good review to write. My sons scheduled a spearfishing trip with LJWS and made the hour drive to San Diego only to receive a phone call 20 minutes prior to their dive time cancelling due to rain the previous day. I understand that water conditions need to be just right for spearfishing but a little heads up would have been appreciated. My boys then scheduled again for the following Friday only to show up at the appointed time/location to have no one there, shop closed. I called the shop and was told that they had them on the schedule for Saturday but the confirmation e-mail I received was for Friday. The guy on the phone did offer for my boys to come back the next day and would give them a 50 percent discount which I appreciated but after looking at the weather it was supposed to rain during their dive them and now Im back with the issue of getting a call 20 minutes prior to their dive time cancelling due to weather. All I can say is I have a couple of disappointed teenagers who spent their time and their own money on gas in an attempt to have a great experience. Well find another dive shop in the future.

I was recently on vacation and decided to book a snorkeling tour with La Jolla water sports. The tour ended up being canceled. I had rented 2 wet suits and fish food. I received no refund and was told by a manager the owner would contact me. I was never contacted and when I called dive shop I all I heard was excuses and someone will contact me. I never was contacted, I left voicemails and when I called from my number they would not pick up WOW. I had ended up reporting this matter to the Better Business Bureau. I reccomend anyone with a similar experience to do the same especially when $$$ is involved.

The guys in this shop were super helpful. We went on the cove tour with Allan and he was amazing. We had such a good time. We wne t back two days later and rented snorkel gear to go on our own and the treated us like family. Allan even remembered mine and my sisters names and other small details we had talked about on the tour. 10/10 I would recommend them and I will be going back!

These people have no clue how to run business. I came all the way from Las Vegas to come snorkel and I was told 20 minutes before snorkeling our reservation was cancelled. We were able to reschedule our reservation for same time the next day and guess what they canceled us again with no reason given. If I could give 0 stars I would. Don’t recommend this place

My boyfriend and I had a wonderful time snorkeling in the La Jolla coves and caves with La Jolla water sports this past weekend. Drew was our guide and he was terrific! I would highly recommend!

My wife and I had an amazing experience! They could maybe consider getting a new van. But still worth every penny for the experience.

I highly recommend La Jolla water sports, it was a great time for my brother and I. We were newbees interested in spearfishing so we decided to take a guided spearfishing tour for our first time to learn the ropes and that is exactly what our guide Willie the man did!! Not only was he an excellent guide and showed us the ropes to spearfishing but the whole crew at the Jolla water sports hooked us up with everything we needed fins mask snorkel wetsuits gloves and Spears. It was one of the best times me and my brother had in a long time we are for sure coming back and sharing pictures of our new-found Hobby to the guys at La Jolla water sportsThanks yall,Garrett

Very fun lobster diving tour! We bought the Groupon and were in a group of 7-8 people. Nobody caught anything but it was a fun time. The parking lot is large so just leave your car there if youre doing the night tour. Park on the street side because we saw a couple people (one was talking to himself and the other was carrying a what looked like an illegally obtained bike frame) climb over the back fencing (over the barbed!) to get into the parking lot.

I booked my Lobster diving for Saturday 10/27/18, received an email appointment reminder of the time of the dive and reminding me that if I need to purchase a fishing licence or lobster report card I need to be there early.I did go early 6:10 pm to be exact, no one was there, i waited to 7:30 pm and no one showed up.So I drove all the way from Temcula and back for nothing.I called my wife to tell her about my experience, she text me Andrew Moore review (dated 10/27/2018 1:00 pm) in which he indicated that La Jolla Waters Sports did not have the licence to operate for this season yet.The following day I call to find out what append, They were very apologetic and said someone should of called you.I asked to cancel my reservation, and they did.If you plan to go for a Lobster Diving with La Jolla Waters Sports, you should call their office that day to confirm if they are going or not. I hate to see anyone else going through the same experience.

DO NOT BOOK A TRIP WITH THEM!!!! If could go below 1 stars I would. So we scheduled a spearfishing tour and we got all of the way down their for them to call us 14 min. before the trip was supposed to start telling us they couldnt do it that day so we rescheduled for the following week. The next week comes around so we drive the hour and a half down again and wait for our guide to show up. As time goes by we receive no calls or emails. We wait until 15 min. after our appointment time and decided to leave.

Booked a shark tour at a time that was convenient for me and my group. When an issue arose on their side, owner Eldon was extremely unprofessional and unwilling to cooperate and try to accommodate us. Tour kept getting pushed back with no definite information given to us until 2 hours later. I refused to give my business to such an unprofessional businessman.

Took my first spearfishing tour with them and was hooked! Awesome tour guides with a ton of knowledge. I went back the next day and the owner spent about an hour getting me set up and making sure I had the right gear. Knowing very little about spearfishing he could have talked me into buying the most exspencive stuff on his shelf. But instead he showed me the differances in the way the gear works and got me the best gear I could get for a very good price. I take friends out a lot with me and this is by far the best shop to rent any gear from. Very clean and very nice rentals for very cheap. They will have my business for like.....or at least until I open a shop of my own 😆😆😆

My wife and I did the spearfishing tour and we had so much fun.The whole staff was extemely friendly and helpful The guide was very knowledgeable and you can tell he has a strong passion for the ocean. Went on October 12, 2016 during posted business hours (1130 AM) and there was no one there. Called and left a voice mail stating I was interested in their products with a call back number with no returned phone call. Went back that afternoon before closing time (1600, posted closing time was 1700) and the store was closed. Bad business to have posted hours and have someone there for customers.

TERRIBLE!!!! Set up a lobster dive online. We received the email conformation. Arrived 30 mins early. No-one showed up.We waited 1 hour. Called a few times, left messages and still have not got a call back.

Went on their 2 hour pole-spearing tour and had a blast. Staff is knowledgeable about local and state fishing regulations and fish identification/information.

Made reservations online (as encouraged by their site). Have confirmation emails. Showed up to an empty shop and nobody answering the phone. Waited around hoping it was a mixup with daylight savings time but nope. Big letdown.

The price point seems great! The website is nice and easy to navigate! The only thing im struggling witb is getting in touch with the shop. Ive called during shop hours twice and left voice messages and have not heard back. Im hoping i hear back before my vacation to address my concern with booking.

We had a great experience with our Snorkling Tour! Nikki our Tour Guide was fantastic. Very sweet & kind. She gave us some fun facts throughout our Snorkling Tour to the La Jolla Coves & Cave.Even though there was a swell & the water clarity was a bit cloudy the deeper we went, I loved it! We were still able to see 3 to 4 species of fish & the sea lions! The Cave was so neat that we didnt want to leave.If youre like me... It was my first time so I had some light nerves. Its waaay easier than you think! Everyone is different. This is my experience.Tip your Tour Guide ahead of time! Youll get caught up in the fun of it afterwards & possibly forget, like me.Very comfortable & friendly staff when we arrived!Overall fantastic experience! We recommend!

Its never open. Their hours are posted on here that they close at 5pm but Ive been at 12:50, 3:20, 4:00, and 10:45 all on different days throughout the week and they havent been there and they dont have any hours posted on their door.

Watch out !! This place is a scam. I bought groupon vouchers and made a reservation few month ago for the snorkeling tour. People were rude and very unprofessional. They took my credit card info for the reservation and today my credit card was over charged by $51. Now Im going through the hassle of disputing the charges!!!WATCHOUT !!!! This place is ridiculous. They will charge your credit cards without authorizations and steal your moneySTAY AWAY!!

Never could get an appointment after they cancelled my online appointment on a perfectly sunny day...i know weather happens but at least make the effort to ensure customers can get into another tour. Guess Ill try another company...

I booked a spearfishing trip, a month before! I received confirmation and everithing was set. I arrived to La Jolla Watersports and they informed me my trip wasnt going out because we where not enough people booked!I woke up early! Arrived on time! They just cast me off!Unprofessional and disappointing. Ruined my day!

Very poor customer service. Signed up two years in a row to do the spearfishing expedition. Two years in a row the expedition was canceled. Normally I would be understanding about this kind of thing, weather and tour conditions are out of thier control, but this year I bought a Groupon to use for the tour. The shop called me a few hours before we were scheduled to depart to cancel, but would not honor the Groupon on any other day. They said because it was the weekend they could only offer me a full price tour, even though they were the ones to cancel. Understandably, I was disappointed about not being able to go, but when the next days tours are completely open and the shop was the one to cancel then they should honor thier Groupon deal, especially because the terms of the deal do no say it has any blackout dates. Very poor customer service two years in a row. Save yourself the time and the hassle dont go here for any tours or any San Diego excursions. Find a better tour company in la jolla that knows what they are doing and wants to earn its customers respect and patronage. Couldnt recommend this place less.
