Love this giant half- priced store as it has such a wonderful selection. My kid spent some blissful time just looking around.My only complaint is that the childrens section is done by author and is kinda all mixed up. It would be great to organize it by subject and then author, or by reading level, or really anything to help you find relevant material for kiddo.

I searched all over Austin for the perfect gift for my sisters birthday: the biography of her favorite actress, Barbara Stanwyck. I finally located it at the Half Price in San Marcos. Ben was very helpful in assuring me he would put the book in hold for me. Its so nice getting excellent customer service.

I just went there to break a 20 but I always love going here no matter what. Its like a goodwill-style hasting and Barnes Nobles. To give you hobbies and give old books new life.

This particular location is a great one! Always clean, the shelves are orderly, and a truly great selection! We never walk out empty-handed. Oh, and the child that has to use the toilet of every location we visit insists that this one is clean and doesnt smell funny, not even a little, Mama!

It was a stroll after and excellent meal just 2 doors down. I went in and asked if they had a book I was looking for. The clerk looked it up found it and I paid for it right there! And they would send it to the house.!! AWESOME !!! I ALSO Walked around looking at books on hand. They have a case with rare books and such. Was a great stop.

Absolutely unbelievable. Called ahead to let them know I was coming had them pull a book for me to keep at the front register. Let them know I was on my way. Wasted my gas and drove 40 MINUTES to arrive as they locked the door and stared at my face. The guy working the front was just all shoulders and seemed to derive some kind of sick pleasure out of shrugging at me as though he had just eaten the front door key. As though it were absolutely outside the realm of possibility for them to open the door. Somebody better call the fire department, might need the jaws of life to get the door open so these people can go home for the night. Truly phenomenal customer service 👌🏻 Top notch. Only giving the one star because there isnt a way to give Zero stars. Hope yall have a lovely night. Thanks for going above and beyond!

Pretty nice store for book selection, lots of history and westerns, I just wish cassette selection was a little better, its all Christmas and Christian music. Seems a little expensive for half price?

Called HPB on Thursday afternoon and found what I needed. The lady on the other end had great customer service and placed the book on hold for me. Went to pick it up the next day and got my 10% discount since I am an educator 🙌

Texas went no mask on Wednesday, so I exercised my right to freedom by not wearing one. Immediately upon entering the store to retrieve a book I ordered, I was greeted with the mask police shouting if I had a mask. I am NOT wearing a mask anymore! The lady sorting books went out of her way to tell me to wait outside while the sweet employee behind the desk was getting my name. I told Karen to never interrupt me again. Get a grip! Going to dictate how people live their life? Do not give me the bull that you are protecting others and your staff by a mask that does not prevent against illness when you touch used books all day long and then turn around and sell them. Question? How do you sterilize paper?

Friendly, helpful. They were able to order the book I was looking for to arrive within a week. The store was neat, in order, and books were conveniently cataloged.

I love finding books here. And the staff are very helpful. The childrens section is huge and you can find anything you want. Even new release books, my daughter bought the new Dog Man at this store. Their online search will tell you if they have a specific book in the store and the staff will help you find it if needed.

Always like looking for books at a Half Price bookstore. This is a typical Half Price store.

The staff was very attentive. While there were a few interesting gems, overall the selection was rather weak. The store layout is boring and uninspired. If your are a frequent customer of the Half Price Books in Austin, then you will be disappointed by this location.

This stores turnover has suffered over the last year or so ... few new articles to choose.

Was looking for the Hobbit and Lord of the Ring book series. It was less expensive to purchase the paperbacks online than they were being sold here.

This place is really wonderful, I was helped by 3 different workers, but the only name I can remember off hand was TY. The upkeep they have here is great, its clean, organized and well maintained. I was there yesterday, and this child was running around without an adult and the situation was quickly taken care of by staff. Another thing that happened was a man came in with a nasty on and off additude about receiving a movie in the mail, the staff were super patient with the guy.They know this store like the back of their hands, every book I was looking for or genre I was trying to find was found. I really appreciate the work they do here.I wish this store location had more manga though. Will definitely come again, and buy more books in the future.

Brought the kids in to get a few books and was off put by an employee coming up and telling me my 5 year old had his mask on incorrectly. He was reading to his 1 year old brother. While I understand COVID and all. He is 5. Seems a bit much and they kept on us the whole time we were there. Will not be returning. While being respectful of others safety is somethings we of course want to do as good people this was just a bit much.

I love this store! I always find something interesting.

Came in a few weeks ago with my sister to check out the place - I had never been there before. Immediately upon entering the store, a woman told me that I could not come in without a mask. I was wearing a face shield and explained that I have asthma. The woman still said that I could not come in, but only do curbside. What bothers me about this experience is that some businesses have become so paranoid about mask-wearing that they discriminate against people who actually have a medical condition but would still like to be able to support businesses in person. I think I only got about one step into the door. How am I supposed to do curbside? - especially for browsing books and cds. I dont think Ill return.

They said nothing for 30 minutes untill I wantes to check out. Then a man with a huge beard and a mask that hardly covered came up and said maam you are requites to wear an approved mask. I had on a chin shield. He didnt even bother to ask if I had health issues and mask exemptions. They wont get my business even after the masks end.

This is one of my favorite locations because of their huge selection.My boyfriend sold a ton of books here, one of the employees even helped us unload the books from the car. If you have any really old/rare books, I wouldnt sell them here because you wont get much. Id suggest keep those books as part of your collection or sell it on ebay for more money

Idk how u can have a bad experience here. Usually have fair prices on whatever they sell, maybe retro games are a little higher than market, but board games and books are usually good deals. Nothing special about this particular location compared to others though, like anywhere you might find something random and unexpected due to it being in a small town. I enjoy coming here from Austin.

This is a great bookstore with second hand and collectors books. They have an excellent kids selection as well as plenty of stuff for adult readers. You can trade in old books for credit toward purchase as well. Great for bargains.

I always have to stop into this HPB and look for clearance, anime, and manga. They have always been very friendly and helpful here. Be sure to compare prices on the anime with Amazon though, sometimes its not actually half price. But I know its not their fault. Sometimes they have rare collectables as well. Lots of Harry Potter goodies as well.

Love this place

The people who work here are helpful and friendly. There is a really peaceful vibe and a really large selection of books in good condition. My kids love the childrens book section because it has small chairs for them to sit in and look a books.

I really was amazed on how many wonderful books they had there. Not only books but puzzles, games, crochet kits and painting kits and lots more. I can truly say I was amazed and very pleased with my visit there . Cant wait to visit them again.

Great place... Just wish some people would stop being bullied to the cashiers... They dont make the rules. The law does and their bosses. Customers need to learn to behave themselves and dont be abuse to the workers....

I think Ive only ever gone in here when Ive had a bunch of stuff to clear out of my home. I kind of wish they had a better selection, but I have found some great stuff in the past. The employees are always nice and the store is always clean. The people are normally pretty nice too, on a few occasions Ive had help unloading things from people who were in or around the store at the time. I dont usually get a lot out of what Im selling, but the experience is normally pretty positive.
