The service was very good but the food not so much! We don’t like to make a fuss when eating in and usually say the food is fine! But on this occasion for the price the quality was not on par. It was a shame as many friends had recommended. The cocktails were great just falling short on the food quality.
The service is still not good. I have seen that for months people have consistently been complaining about the same thing: 1) The waiters are very inattentive and even rude (e.g. standing around chatting whilst guests wait for a long time even during non-busy times, as well as making people feel like an inconvenience), 2) The food is often brought out late and cold. Your response for a long time has been I hope you will visit us again soon to see our improvements - but apparently these issues have still not been addressed, which is a great shame because with a little effort this place could be good! (Also with you repeatedly replying like this with no change, it makes you sound bad because its not believable.)

Just had lunch here and whilst the staff are pleasant and the restaurant itself is very nice, the service is quite slow. The food was mediocre and the main course portions quite small. Limited choice of desserts, (just three)... Banoffee pie consisted of one large piece of dry sponge with a watery sauce and a small blob of ice cream, no trace of banana.Not recommended ☹️
Excellent food but so badly let down by staff who have no customer service skills at all,with no acknowledgement to us on arrival as were all too busy chatting at the bar. Walking across to take our order with arms folded made us feel we were not welcome!along with ploncking the bottle of wine in the centre of the table & throwing our dessett spoons into the centre of the table certainly was not helpful, infact one of the staffs dog got more attention than we did.! On leaving at the end of the night there was no thank you or acknowledgement of us leaving, such a shame we shall not be returning we had so looked forward to our first visit.
Been here twice, both times the food was excellent. Second time the service was a little slow, but not to the point of being unacceptable.
Came in with family and friends for a birthday, we were warmly greeted, well looked after and the food was great. Would definitely come back!
Service was extremely slow.Upon entering the building we asked if it was table service or order at the bar, we was told that it was table service.We wasn’t shown to a table we was told to take a seat anywhere.We waited 10 minutes before I reluctantly went up to the bar to order our own drinks. A further several minutes went by before ordering food, even though several servers came into the conservatory area where we was sitting but walked straight passed the table.The food came out quickly but was cold, other people in my party didn’t want to make a fuss but as I work in hospitality myself I know full well that this is not ok. My roast was cold which I had to send back. We asked for extra potato’s and gravy which came out after we was half way through eating and again wasn’t hot.We asked for further drinks which took far to long to come out.Was really disappointed in the service as seen as we’d heard good things.Wasn’t really sure who the staff were as you had some people in A uniform and aprons, some in a shirt and trousers others in jeans and a polo. Look unity and unprofessional.Decor of the pub is lovely and set up is really nice shame about everything else.Not likely to visit again.

Nice place, although have had some terrible experiences in the past, thought would give it a go for lunch. Immaculately clean, friendly staff and food very nice indeed. Pleasantly surprised and glad I gave it another chance.

Really lovely steaks. Triple cooked chips were surprisingly brilliant. The whole phrase triple cooked has become overused and cliche these days and often disappoints. Not today, the chips were amazing. As was the little Welsh rarebit cheesy mustardy tangy side on a mushroom that came with all steaks. Gorgeous. Service to match the food. Brilliant. Thank you!
Lovely fish and chips. Great service from friendly staff. Very good lay out inside. Shame garden is next to a busy noisy road . All in all a nice place to eat.
The only disappointment was that you hadnt updated the menu on your website, so the choice of dishes was not so good. Having said that, the fish we chose was very good.

Went here for my daughters 21st ( 4th time me visiting) the food was amazing, the staff were really helpful and friendly. Will definitely recommend to others and will definitely be visiting again ( have even booked to have Christmas Dinner here)
Service was terrible, thats without the cheers pal from one of the waiters, instead of laying out the cutlery he just wrapped it in serviettes and put it on the table for us to do. There was no roast dinners left other than chicken so opted for the fish and triple cooked chips, the fish was over cooked and not nice to eat and the chips had a unusual taste to them. I thought this place wouldve been better given the décor but will not be returning unfortunately
Perfect place to eat, food 😋 was yummy in my tummy and the service was second to none. The lady who served the food was lovely ( she had a plait ), made us very welcome 😀
Nice pub but food did not match it. Had to send food back as it was cold. Veg was chewy and still cold after being reheated. Cauliflower cheese turned up again halfway threw eating the meal.
Looks great and has loads of potential. Perhaps visited on an off night and maybe staff were under the pump a little...? Unlikely to return though to be honest.

Beautiful venue inside and out and whilst the food is good, it isnt quite as special as the building and decor.
First time here and we tried the Sunday roasts, Chicken. Beef and Pork.The food was excellent and reasonably priced and the staff were very professional.Will definitely go again.
Went there today with my husband, son & Daughter in law for my birthday.The place was busy and a good atmosphere and the weather was good to us.Food and drinks went down well even though I was on the diet coke as driving.Well done to the staff they must be sacked out by the end of the night.Welcome back to pub land and lets hope it stays that way.Will visit again nice place....
This is the first time I have been in the pub since it been refurbished, it is a very nice place to go ! The staff are very friendly, and very helpful, we were in the conservatory, a lovely place! the food is top class and you are not waiting long, but we were there on a weekday! All in all a very nice and friendly place for lunch!!am going there a lot more!!
Sadly not good. Not the first time weve been but its really gone downhill. Very slow and poor service even though there were more staff than customers (appreciate Covid might make it harder but mostly standing around chatting) but the food was really not good: a £13 salad which was like a bag of mixed leaves with the driest bit of chicken ever (£4 suppliment, couldnt get through it with the knife) and a totally flavourless steak for much more.The place has great space, outdoors and lovely inside. As I said, not our first time but I dont think well be back sadly.

Looks very nice and inviting but dont be fooled! The staff were cold and acting very mysterious about the fact they werent serving food. We felt like we were intruding. The waitress who brought our coffees was very nice and helpful though. A diamond in the rough.

Sorry we bothered the waitress. Eventually got menus and had to ask to get a 1st drink. A lot of items not available she indicated waving her hand over the menu. Eventually she took our order. My meal should have been accompanied by a spoon but I had to ask. There was cold draught but as she was too hot she wasnt bothered about us. Had to ask for a straw for the cocktail. Had to ask eventually about dessert (so many tables for her to wipe) and apparently very little on offer. We gave up. Wont be back even for the free drink.

The service is good the food is appalling. Ive been there three times now and every time the food is not what you ordered, or poorly cooked or just really insipid and tasteless. Have a drink and eat at The Golden Eagle just down the road - this place offers nothing of quality
Went for lunch with my daughter. The kids meal was cold apart from the bowl itself. Looked like it had come out of a microwave (value for money you get kids starter, main and desert for under £8). Avoid the steak. Asked for medium and came out done. When I mentioned to the waitress she took the dish back and then come out and criticised what my feedback was. Been here twice before that and was fine but this visit was disappointing. Other members of staff was polite. The food was removed from my bill.

We got a nice cozy place to sit outdoors due to restrictions, but the inside looked equally inviting. Food was really good too.

I dined here a couple of weeks ago with my friend, we both had the vegetarian roast, which was gorgeous, cant fault the food. Our waitress was a young girl called Keiss, I asked her for more gravy and reminded her it was vegetarian. I was waiting about 10 minutes so I asked someone else too. Keiss served another table extra gravy and I was looking at her so she came over and asked if wed been given ours yet, I said no, she shrugged and put the extra gravy on the table - I should have realised at this point! I poured it over my dinner and started eating, then my friend poured hers and something came out of it, she said Ellie Im sure this is pork. I had a look and it was definitely meat - maybe beef but NOT vegetarian! I was instantly horrified, I was looking around for a waitress, waited a few mins and couldnt find anyone so went to the bar to tell them what had happened. Keiss came back and I told her she had given the wrong gravy, she said no I think I gave you veggie but I can check with the kitchen, I said this was absolutely unacceptable and that theres no way it was vegetarian, even if she checked it was too late. We were back and forth even when I showed her the meat. Not an apology so I wanted the manager, he was not embarrassed either - not really fussed, I got a bit upset and told them I hadnt eaten meat for over three years and would it be different if it was for religious reasons? Still not much of an apology from him, and not one at all from the girl. Really really disappointing, we didnt have to pay for our food but I would have really appreciated a genuine apology - mistakes are made but you should advise staff will be given more training or something more useful than a shrug.

Staff have loud chats with each other rather than serving customers. Had to order at the bar because I was ignored. Returned here after a bad experience where staff could be heard gossiping about me, but wish I hadn’t. Staff aren’t professional.
Two of the servers were wonderful- however the third one who bought our food over was very rude and slammed our food down each time.Sad that one person let the team down however the venue looked lovely and the rest of the staff were lovely!
Good pub/restaurant - the menu is good and the food well cooked.
We stopped here for morning coffee at 11-30, not realising they were closed until 12 noon, but a very polite young man came out and still served us with our drinks. Excellent
Really nice pub to eat really nice food. Cocktails are great too but loses a start due to a pretty basic beer selection. A few craft beers and this place will be hard to beat!

This place is really not good. The menu was quite limited and there were many items out of stock. Every single pizza and the wine we ordered were unavailable; not really acceptable for a Saturday evening meal. I found the prices extortionate and totally unjustified. The food was foul; duck and pickled watermelon starter that burnt my partner’s throat and a Caesar salad that was basically just a bowl of lettuce to highlight a few particular horrors. The whole place was soulless with no atmosphere. The staff were quite friendly but the level of service was the absolute bare minimum. My family were visiting from another part of the country and it was a bit embarrassing bringing them here for the first time.
Meals, ok but came out cold and not much flavour. Staff didnt seem to care about feedback.Doesnt seem to welcome children.

I want to give this place 5 stars but even though I like the classic English food and the vibe of the place, theres always something, whether its slow service or the wrong food order, that gets in the way. So its good but not great.

The customer service was excellent although a bit slow to start with. Im only giving it three stars because my chicken Sunday roast was on the cold side and the kitchen had run out of a few dishes we would like.

Its fine isnt it. The beer selection is pretty standard and the food portions a bit small. But its spacious and has a big car park, theres better pubs locally and theres worse. So yeah, cool
Absolute dive. Worst food IV had for years. Visited with my Mum, Dad and Brother for a family meal. Only good thing about this place was the Warsteiner beer they had. The food was appalling. Two of us ordered steak, medium/rare. Look at the picture IV added. (It looks grey) and burnt. Disgusting. All meals looked straight out of a freezer. We made a few remarks to the lady working but its not their fault. Would advise a new chef and some kitchen remodel organising as this place needs shutting down in my opinion.

Pleasant surroundings, varied menu, but slow service (miserable from one female team member) and food could have been served hotter.
Went for a meal with my uncle 86 bless him. He had the chicken breast and I had large. Ribeye steak. The steaks were 50%off when we visited. Both meals were very nice. You do not get a lot with steak, one mushroom and a bit if water cress, oh and chips of course. My uncles chicken looked very nice but then cost almost the same as steak when reduced. Service was good nothing to write home about.Seroundings were nice and clean.Worth a visit especially if offers in at full price expensive. Pizzas were 2 for one as well which seemed very good value. So if there are offers in worth a visit or 2. Other wise probably better places for your money.

Roast meat was dry and over cooked as was the vegetables and no seasoning on anything
Well equipped venue, staff friendly and helpful. However the food was well below par bearing in mind the high prices. Good venue for a drink but the food is its downside.
