Oh yes, creamy creamy ice cream, just the way I like it, and there are so many flavors….it’s very small, compact inside the store, but has some nice outdoor sittings. Just a friendly reminder, if you come In a hot day, get a cup instead of a cone because they are so soft and creamy and melt quickly…:D

Ice cream is always delicious! Despite the sign saying it opens at noon, several of could not get in. One fellow called and the lady answered but she had only opened the exit door, not the entrance. Four different people waited outside half an hour uselessly. The employee wondered why business was unusually s.l.o.w.

Horrible experience. Went in to order 2 Italian icy. Well she said she had one already made. So she gave me that I never thought to look at it till I got home I tried eating it but it was completely melted. Not to mention it was 14.00 for 2 Italian ice. Very expensive. I brought the melted one back she did give me a new one but it was one scoop I paid for 3. Horrible customer service. Yes I did eat a few bites but gave it back. Next time Ill would just ask for a refund instead of getting a fraction of what I paid for. And melted. Not happy

Its small to the point of being stressful if there are more than about three customers inside oh, but the ice cream was great and the girls working were very friendly and kind. I even witnessed them being very patient in the face of some less than polite customers. The outdoor seating is fine and encourages conversation among strangers, many of whom walk right over from Yoders.

For the first time in a year we decided to take our health compromised child out for ice cream last night because his birthday is tomorrow. My family safely waited in the parking lot as the place was packed and not a mask in sight. As I began to place my order I asked the employee (who was not wearing gloves or a mask) if he could put on a mask due to my child’s health risk. He refused. I said it would be very nice if they would consider doing this for customers who are health compromised. The response? “Actually, Florida Law says we don’t have to.” Correct, it does not. But I wasn’t asking for her to be forced to wear one- I was asking them to wear one for 5 minutes to protect a CHILD. Obviously this company is more worried about their personal comfort than the safety of their customers. We’ll never go back and I will tell EVERYONE I know about this experience. Mennonites want to share the love of Jesus?? Start by not giving people COVID. There’s a start.

One thing the Gulf Coast has that doesnt exist in other parts of the world is easy access to the Amish Community. Big Olaf, Yoders and Der Dutchman are all next two each other in Sarasota.Fair warning, one taste of this Ice Cream and your wife of 50 years will be one her knees begging to execute unspeakable acts to get next to Big Olaf. Its that good.Of course this wisdom cuts both ways. If you need to dump the old bat, this is the Ticket!!

Nice little ice cream shop with good prices and friendly staff.

My husband and I were here yesterday with our two kids. It was the first time we had ever been here, and it was fantastic! The staff were friendly (lovey people, seriously), I loved the family-friendly atmosphere, and the ice cream was amazing. Overall, a 10/10 experience. We’ll definitely be stopping by here again! I highly recommend!

They have a wonderful selection of icecream and give input when asked. Will definitely be coming back. It is on our to do list when we come down to Sarasota every year.

Fun little spot with a wide selection of staple and original flavors - a lot of originals. We get something different every time we go and have yet to be disappointed. Highly recommended on a hot summer day.

Walked into this place for the first and last time last week. The ice cream was not that great. The young girl in the front was friendly but I walked to the back to see if they had something that they were advertising. Two women were behind the counter and both of them saw me but neither acknowledged me. I am a native of Sarasota and I assure you I will let everyone I know to not visit this location. Rudeness and ill manners do not set well with me. The ice cream is overpriced for what you get and the quality is meh. So disappointed. I will take my business where they appreciate it.

This truly is a Sarasota staple and a must go to when visiting. Great atmosphere and even better desserts/ice cream.only downside need to be more aware of basic health codes such as washing hands after handling money back to food.

This is the place! I recommend their soft serve, very creamy, or quarts of icecream out of their freezer. Coffee and coconut flavors were our favorite. Note; The servers let Amish customers very obviously cut to the front of the line without saying anything, and will serve them first. This happened about every time I was in there.

Prices high, waited 15 minutes to be waited on, was not worth the trip, time or price.

I was in your store yesterda,y and had an unfortunate incident with an employee. She charged me for 2 kiddie scoops when I thought I could get 2 flavors, just half scoops for the price of one.I had been in twice before. When I said that was what another employee did she got very irate and said who waited on you....man or woman?Why would I want to get someone in trouble because they apparently misunderstood as well? When she rang me up I was confused. She said I told you I was giving you two kiddie scoops. I believe it was $5.50 with the tax.I said well than I should have gotten 2 scoops, before tax it would have been $6.00 plus tax. She insisted I should have read bulletin board.The reason why Im writing this is you need to tell your employee to learn some customer service skills.She could have apologized for any misunderstanding and difuse the issue. Not that she didnt need to charge me correctly. That i can understand. Left me very upset and not sure how soon Ill returnThank you.

The ice cream wasnt all that good

The ice cream was good but the employee did not wear gloves or mask. She was touching money while checking out someone else, and touching the waffle cone without washing her hands. Not coming back.

Terrific place for dessert. Homemade ice cream is amazing and the staff is super friendly. I would highly recommend this place as a go to for ice cream to any locals or visitors.

The woman behind the counter wasnt wearing a mask and when asked why she explained that the business didnt require it and she didnt feel like wearing one. Why? Why is it so hard to wear a mask? Is it a personal freedom thing? If so, do you think that by endangering the lives of others you are inherently stealing their freedom to live? It seemed like in her case it was actually just laziness, which is the worst excuse there is. We left without ice cream shop, being pretty shocked by the servers attitude. Not coming back

Very delicious ice cream. Located at a very convenient location for walking to. They only have one bathroom outside that you need a key for but otherwise it’s a nice place. They have a large selection of ice cream flavors.

Actually the area where you order is not wheelchair friendly very tight., but they do their best to accommodate. First timer today. Ive always passed it growing up but never been. I enjoy the seating outside. The inside was a bit smaller than i had imagined but adequate space. Price was very reasonable. Family of 5, spent less than 20. 2 double scoop waffle cones, 3 kiddie cups/cones. Would recommend and more than likely will be a return customer.

I thought we would try something new. One person working when it was crowded. Ice cream was ok, had better at McDonalds. Should have went to Culvers like wife wanted. Asked for a large and we received what appeared to be a small and was charged almost 6 dollars. Will never go to big olaf ever again. This place is way over priced!!!

Wanted ice cream but didn’t want my father to die- nobody had masks lol-Called to ask why nobody had anything since our state is in a serious state of COVID exposure right now and they’d hung up on us when we hadn’t finished our damn sentence to begin with. Embarrassing and unprofessional / ethical. I have all day, don’t come here.

Im somewhat spoiled. I grew up going to a creamery that has 3 times the selection. But what Big Olaf has is excellent

The girl that was scooping the ice cream wasn’t wearing a mask (remind you, she’s serving food during a pandemic). When I asked her why she wasn’t wearing a mask, she reacted rudely and stated that the business itself didn’t require employees and guests to wear masks and follow any CDC guidelines. When I tried to remind her that she is serving children and elderly, she rolled her eyes at me and proceeded to scoop my ice cream BACK into the tub because I clearly wasn’t planning to purchase. I’m so shocked and disappointed in how a business and their employees can be so ignorant and lazy of other people’s health.

Great place to stop for a quick treat. Ice cream was very tasty and gave big scoops. Have limited seating inside & out. Sells pizza and other food items toward the back of establishment. Restroom on side of building. Friendly staff to serve you as well.

The ice cream was just like I remember as a kid growing up in Wisconsin, made with real dairy products.

Hoped to enjoy their ice cream, but upon arriving at front door with a big sign reading “ one party at a time” saw there was at least 8 people jammed inside with no masks waiting on getting served and the staff had no maskOR gloves scooping ice cream! Never going back!
