We have been taking our daughter to Dr. Malan for a few months now. Our daughter is almost two years old and has two hearing aids. There have been a few occasions when our older two sons have had to go to her appointments. Everyone in the office has always been so kind and accommodating. Even the other patients are very friendly, which sometimes happens in places where everyone feels comfortable and welcome. It is a very unique atmosphere. It is always so calming and positive. We have a very difficult schedule to work with and we have never had any problems with scheduling. We went to an office in Burbank before that did not feel that way and it was a longer drive. Finding Dr. Malan and his staff has been like a dream come true. I no longer dread taking my daughter in for new ear molds or even just calling to make an appointment. My daughter is getting what she needs and I could not be happier! I would definitely recommend this office to anyone seeking a kind, compassionate, highly-skilled audiologist! I just wish other medical offices could be so professionally courteous.

The staff is friendly and welcoming. The doctor is great! Besides his obvious experience, his ability to strike up a conversation and connect with the patient is perfection. He’s charming and funny. It was a pleasant experience and I’ll definitely return when needed in the future.

Dr Malan and his staff are outstanding. The doctor always explains what he is checking and how we can overcome my hearing loss. He has provided me with hearing aids that allow me to talk on the phone, listen to music, track my exercise, track how much I use verbal and listening skills, I can set calendars, translate languages, and all without anyone knowing I’m wearing hearing aids. I believe that if everyone knew what hearing aids can do, they would throw away their AirPods.

Combine a very caring, skilled doctor of audiology (Dr. Malian) with the most updated testing equipment and hearing aids possible and you have Ascent Hearing in Simi Valley. I took my Mom here after she had a poor experience elsewhere (we drive 2.5 hours each way, so that tells you how good Dr. Malan is), she really liked Dr. Malan and is very happy with her new hearing aids. I have been going to Ascent Hearing Center now for few years. I have never had a bad experience, everyone is so positive. I have recommended them to two friends of mine, they both go there now. They say the same about them.At the beginning, I would show up before they even opened, without an appointment and Dr. Malan would see me. He really cares about his patients.You cant go wrong going there.Update-A few days after my last appointment, I thought I needed my hearing aids turned down just a little. Called their office around 9 AM, they told me they were booked up. They checked with Dr. Malan and I was in at 9:45 getting them adjusted.As said above, been going to Ascent Hearing for years, this wasnt the first time Ive called for something and they had fit me in the same day.They take care of you -

Poor customer service. Will not honor appointment they wrote on appointment card. Monica is extremely rude and needs to be trained on how to intereract with patients.

Great service. Everyone is soooo nice. We had bought a hearing aid for my mom about 3 years ago from Dr. Malan. My mom has been in a home for almost 2 years. The home lost her hearing aid in January. They have to replace it because it was their fault. They said it would take 2-3 weeks to get a new one. Went to Dr Malan. and told him what happened. He ordered the new one for her right away and put a rush on it. He called 3 days later when the new one came in. No extra charge for the rush. He just wanted her to get it ASAP so she could hear.

This hearing center is the best we have been to. My dad has been to several due to his severe heating loss. They got him in within a reasonable amount of time, and the doctor was extremely patient and thorough with him. Their products are great quality, and they have a trial period since they understand that it is hard to get the perfect hearing aid in the first shot sometimes. The facility is clean and staff are extremely nice and patient. I can’t recommend this place enough.

I was not at all certain that I wanted or needed hearing aids, but Ascent was offering a free hearing test and evaluation so I took advantage of the offer. Dr. John was the consummate professional; he carefully and clearly described what was happening with my hearing and demonstrated to me the difference I could expect with hearing aids. After receiving my hearing aids I was having trouble getting them in place, I have very narrow and convoluted ear canals. When I called John about the problem he insisted that I come right in so he could fix the problem. After trying several remedies he suggested that the manufacturer could provide (at no cost to me) custom molded ear pieces. It worked! I now have no problem with insertion and they are so comfortable that I usually forget they are in my ear. John continues to provide considerate, caring, personal and professional support for me. I feel like family whenever I stop in to see him and he always insists on checking my hearing aids to ensure that they are working properly. I could not be happier with either my hearing aids or the fantastic care that I receive from John. Along with the great support and concern that Linda provides; they continue to strive to make my total experience with them a positive one. If you have even a slight interest in checking your hearing I would wholeheartedly recommend John.

I visited Dr. John Malan today for my 2 year old daughter. Our primary doctor was concerned she may have delayed speech due to hearing loss. We made an appointment a few days ago with Linda who took very good care of us and explained the appointment procedures. Today was such a great experience. Dr. Malan was great with my daughter, so patient, genuine, and kind. He let the appointment be at her own pace and changed tests around her capability. His office is very clean and comfortable. I would recommend him to all ages and gladly return if need be.

After one visit to an audiologist in Thousand Oaks who seemed to know NOTHING about hearing or patient care, I looked on line for someone closer to Simi Valley where we live. I happened upon Dr. Malan - and what a God send he was!!!! From the first conversation I had with his office, I felt confident that he knew what he was doing and that my mother would get the best care available!! His bedside manner if you will, cannot be matched, and he truly cares about his patients. We leave the office with a hug, and he responds quickly to any question or phone call. Although my mothers hearing is a huge issue and continues to be even with new hearing aids, this office makes it all worth while!!! I cant say enough about the staff there!!

To be able to hear conversations without the background music or noise is a miracle to me.At first it was difficult for me to adjust to the clarity of sound. The first year I made more than a few appointments. Dr. Malan tirelessly answered all my concerns with patience and kindness. My welfare was always paramount.

I had purchased hearing aids elsewhere and felt that the aids were not helping me. I was also unimpressed with the staff there. The hearing aids from Ascent have wonderful clarity and Dr. Malan and Linda make you feel like you have just come home.

Dr. Malan and his crew have made this the best experience ever. My son came in at the age of 4. Left ear is not working as well as it should. I would find myself having to yell all the time just so he was able to hear me. And it killed me because yelling is all I could do. So he thought I was always mad at him. Anywho, after multiple ear infections and tests... I opted to get tubes put in and we ended up at ascent. He now has his big boy hearing aid and lives it!!! His favorite colors and they gave us a small backpack with all the things he’ll need, plus so many batteries. Annnnd a stuffed tiger with hearing aids. My son loves him. I couldn’t have asked for a better doctor. His staff and himself went above and beyond to make my son comfortable with the whole situation and he actually loves going to the appointments. I highly recommend this group whatever age you are!
