Great service, groovy selection, good prices buying and selling, nice folks.
I brought in coins that i got from my grandfather when he passed away. I just wanted to get them appraised. I did not want to sell them. I gave him the coins and he told me it would be a little bit. I came back 30 minutes later to find that he ripped them all from there cases and ruined them all. When i said something i was kicked out of the store. 0/5 stars
A pleasant place to shop with a wide variety of a selection. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly, and is willing to help you find whatever you need. They offer very reasonable prices (they gotta make a profit too) where I always felt like Im getting a better deal than on Ebay. If you are a collector of coins/currency or sports memorabilia, this is the best place in Sioux Falls to find your next great piece for your collection!
Nice guys- not sure why there are any negative reviews here because he keeps it 💯- and he’s very honest so far in my dealings with him!
Better prices than some chizzlers in town however a lack of knowledge mixed with a refusal to test prove that even 50 years in the biz means nothing
Hands down the best business to buy and sell coins and collectibles. Extremely nice and friendly environment to browse some of the coolest and rarest coins in History. Simply Amazing, highly recommend checking it out next time you’re in the mall. It’s tucked back in the corner by Macy’s, you won’t regret it!
Great service! Knowledgeable and experienced staff. I was given clear explanation of my coin collection and it’s value. Highly recommend.
Dont not do business with this man. He will not be honest with prices and give you a quote. When I asked him for specifics and to see what percentage he takes he actually hung up the phone on me. When a business is not totally transparent I will refuse to patronize them. Its amazing he is still in business. I would not recommend this business unless you are completely desperate. You will get scammed.
NIce looking place. It had the atmosphere of a library. Comfortable chairs to look through the various binders at your leisure to fill the holes in your collection. My teenage boys got to the store before I did. When I found them, I found them quietly looking through the various books on display, and exploring the store, and showing each other interesting coins in the displays racks and in the lot bins. The man behind the counter was nothing but polite to them.He was immediately available to answer every questions I had about my interests in cheaper coins to starting my collections and was absolutely courteous and helpful. Ill definitely be going back.
This coin shop taught me most EVERYTHING I know about gold, silver, and other precious metals.2 decades later I am still a repeat customer.Think about those negative reviews. Seems like people disappointed that they were told the truth. Ive Benn in the shop often enough to see some of these incidents.Ive NEVER seen any get anything but an honest assessment of their items. Stamps are just stamps in most cases and sadly almost a dying market.
Pretty sweet place. If you are considering coin collecting or want to know anything about coins I would suggest you stop in here and just visit with the guy. He was one of the nicest shop owners I have ever talked to. I was killing some time here once and decided to browse around his store. He has these cheap beginner books that have a lot of great info on coin collecting.
I dont know why there is bad reviews. I went here yesterday and the guy working there was pretty cool.
Very honest and very fair prices. I have been here twice now and both times I was treated great! I left with a good feeling that I had been dealt with honestly and fairly. The fellows that assisted me were very helpful in answering all my questions. Although I hate going to the mall, if I find more silver and gold I will definitely return!
I read reviews before coming to the shop. I think there are some negative comments about the owner (older man with white mustache) about being not friendly or rude to certain people. That was by a long shot not my experience at all. He was very friendly and insightful about his profession, even taking the time to teach me a thing or two. I had 2 coins appraised and found out they were not worth much but he told me why that is. I think the bad experiences had here are with people who dont get the value of what they have and expect to make a fortune off something they know little to nothing about. If I myself was in his position and had to deal with people getting upset day in and day out about his professional opinion I would get aggravated as well. All in all I will absolutely go back and I very much recommend the shop to people with an open mind to understanding what they have! Thank you very much sir!
This place is an absolute joke. I walked in there and asked them to take a look at a collection of rare stamps and the gentleman at the counter didnt even take the opportunity to look at all of them, he just told me that I didnt have any unused stamps even though I did and he still didnt even take the time to look at them I just told me that they werent worth anything. I took coins in there not that long ago and he told me the same thing that they werent worth anything even though Im pretty sure that they were. If I was you I wouldnt go into this place these people are very negative and they dont take the time to talk to their customers didnt even greet their customers they just seem like theyre very inconsiderate people good luck
I’ve always received friendly service here and received fair value.
I like coins that’s the only reason it’s not 1 Star, but dislike rude employees/ownersWouldn’t recommend going, just order on APMEX or us mint. No point in going somewhere if you’re Going to be treated like your Time, and your Coins are Worthless.
Unfriendly and over priced. They have a buy or get out mentality. The older employee is extremely rude. got better deals at Midwest Gold and Silver.
Sold Gold to these guys a few times and of all the places I priced pieces out, they paid more, were more knowledgeable, and were more courteous. Hands down #1 in Sioux Falls!
The people that own, and work at Coins & Collectables are very knowledgeable about everything from old money, precious metals, and coins to antique baseball cards and even artwork. They are the people you need to talk to to get the most accurate idea of an items value in Sioux Falls. That being said... Their location in the mall attracts a customer base that is moat likely not very informed and not very likely to make a impulse purchase. This situation coupled with the overwhelming amount of dumb questions they answer everyday seems to have hardened their personalities, and basic customer service is painful. They have a way of making you feel unwelcome and inferior which is not what you are looking for in a retail setting. These guys are part of a large network in this community of buyers and sellers of all things unique and valuable. You can often find the owners of antique stores, pawn shops and thrift stores behind the deal wheeling and dealing with them, because they are a reputable authority in their field. When shopping at this store, come open minded, try to do a little research, and learn as much as you can. They will give you alot of good information if you can look past the grumpy personalities. Think of them as a bunch of crabby grandpas that arent worried about your feelings, but they will take care of you.
I keep seeing bad reviews for this place, and I cant understand why. Ive been there many times now, and I love the place! Ive had great experiences there and have not been treated poorly. Last time I went in, I picked out something like 40 foreign coins (priced $.25 each) and two Indian head pennies priced at $1.25 a piece. I brought them to the counter and the guy working there gave them a glance and said how about 5 bucks? I know that getting $12.50 in coins for $5 isnt that great seemingly, but for a small collector like me, its great to have that type of encouragement.
I have gone to this place a few times and I can tell you that the owner knows his stuff and that in my opinion he is very, very fair with his pricing. He is very friendly and honest with people. Explained to me why some coins are worth more than others and that theres is much more to it than simply having a rare date - - the condition of the coin is important to the value of a coin as well.
I had sold some stamps my great uncle had left me, only to find out later I got less than 10% of the actual value. Do your research BEFORE visiting here if you are selling
Interesting selection of collectible coins and numismatic supplies for sale.
I took them 10 buffalo nickels to sell. They offered me two dollars and fifty cents for all 10. I went to another dealership on Grange ave and showed them the exact same 10 buffalo nickels and they offered me thirty-eight dollars for them. They also told me one of the coins I had was a key date worth over twenty dollars all by itself. Coins and collectibles failed to tell me about the key date I had. I think they are so rude because they have to pay that high mall rent! On the positive side, they did help me make an informed decision on some CC dollars!
Been there multiple times now. Employees were quick to greet me and ask if I needed assistance. Quick transactions. Overall good experience.
Its pretty clear the positive reviews must be of friends/family..this guy is such a snob..its a coins and collectibles and unfortunately the internet doesnt have all the information. You shouldnt get upset at people trying to find out what they have is worth, and no you low balling so you can make a nice profit isnt the right way to be. The man literally wants to nickle and dime you and give you a small percentage of value, and very rarely actually looks at the coins in depth because he feels hes such an expert; yet look at other reviews hes clearly not an expert and not at all a good businessman. It sucks having to find a place to maybe sell my coins so I had cash for the month and be treated with respect and this place isnt it.
Took care of my needs and offered good advice. Been in a couple times now and can say they are knowledgeable in their line of work and helped me make good decisions in my purchases. I will be going back.
This is deserving of negative stars, they are the rudest people I have ever dealt with. Apparently unless you are over 70 years old they dont want to deal with you. This is the reason I buy my coins online and sell anything to Midwest Gold-Silver in the Western Mall, they definitely treat you politely.
I guess to show you what kind of people you are dealing with at Coins and Collectables... Bill Morgan who posted below is the owner of the shop. He is obviously posing as a satisfied customer and being deceitful. I would say it is not by coincidence that all these people are unsatisfied.
Ther junk I watch them rob an old lady for her collection soi offered her 2 times more and Thay kicked me out haha she grabbed her stuff and sold to me
Rude and will low ball you every time
I have been in the store twice and sold some coins. I feel they have treated me respectfully and fairly and answered my many questions. No complaints. They are in business to make money so I feel it is up to me to make the choice to sell or not sell. I also sell on Ebay. Some instances Ebay brings more money but they also take 15 to 20 % and I have to mail the items.
High price and low service. I have visisted Coins and Collectables numerous times and find their prices on bullion coins to be higher than other similar outlets, and they are not open to paying reasonable amounts for coins or collectible. I do business with other places.
Very good, been there a couple of times the employees are nice and greet people who enter. When looking through the coin bins it was interesting to hear their conversations that the workers and the customers talked about.
FYI to the Store: IT DOES NOT MATTER HOW OLD YOUR CUSTOMER IS, TREAT THEM LIKE EVERYON ELSE, I was shocked at how the clerks looked at me and turned their noses up.Not a hello or glance until I got to the really expensive case, maybe a possible sale?..... Nah.Another person walked in as I was ready to leave because of the poor response and heard them call her by FIRST NAME, terrible impression on a potential new customer. My wife spotted their card which was placed on the case and offered to grab one for me I didnt bother BECAUSE, SIMPLY PUT I WILL NOT GO BACK.This might be a great store for variety but not for customer service.
Had a pleasant interchange with the fellow behind the counter. I didnt get what I hoped for but was treated very cordially.
Been going here since I was a kid. Great selection of coins (and collectibles). Some things are a little expensive.Edit: the past few times, Ive seen customers treated horribly. I have been too. Last time I stop here.
They are nice, and get the job done quickly.
Fast and friendly service great place to shop and have jewelery repaired!
Ive amounted a good deal of old coins that have been collecting dust for some time. I decided to take them into this establishment to get a decent quote on a price and maybe sell, I just needed a little feedback. I have to say that the elderly men running Coins and Collectibles in the Sioux Falls mall are the WORST. Absolutely RUDE to me. Before I could take out the coins he snapped at me in the most wicked tone a general pricing they would be willing to pay...he didnt even look at what I brought in!!!!!!!!!!! They are the most worthless business operators I have ever witnessed and unbelievably rude to good customers. Ill be damned if I ever go near their establishment ever again and if you are wise you will AVOID this place also. There are better places with much better customer service out there. Id even go as far to say a trip into Hell would produce better customer feedback than this place.
I was going to go here, the but these reviews scared me off. Go to antiques and collectables in tea SD 15 minutes away. Great coins!
I was looking for a silver dollar for my daughterd birth year. Coins and Collectables had one that they wanted $45 for (silver was selling for about $18 an oz). I asked why it was so high and the clerk said it is because of the year. I checked ebay and the same coin year in the same condition was going for $25 which included shipping. So beware the over inflated prices at Coins and Collectables.
Went in there for an appraisal on some coins. He goes $7 each! And I said I wasnt looking to sell them I wanted an appraisal. And he replied No collectible value!!! Those are only worth melt value!!They were all silver half dollars and dollars. Some of which I had already looked up and he had same one in his case for $235.If you want a fair guy go to the Western Mall Im Sioux Falls and talk to Gary. Acts like a sweet old grampa to everyone instead of a grouchy old ass man.
Grumpy ol owner shoul retire very bad custmer service changed dealers the one buy bestbuy I more customer friendly
Its called COLUMBUS DAY
I have tried to deal with other parties buying and selling gold and silver, and NOBODY came close to the prices they were paying. We have checked others repeatedly and Coins & Collectables are always the highest!! Reading the other reviews kind of made us ask if these people were there to do business or just use the Coin owners for a free appraisal. Every time ive sold items there someone is in there asking questions that dont use common sense . Shop is clean and presentable, and anytime I ask a direct question I get an intelligent answer.DEFINITELY will go back over and over as nobody is more HONEST !!
I went into coins & collectables today & had the worst experience ever. The older man was down right mean & nasty. Do not waste your time with this place.
Professional and knowledgeable service- #coins #silver #gold #collectables
Had a bunch of coins from my great aunts estate, I brought in 10 or so to see if they had any value. They guy just went through them in about eight seconds, tossed them left and right to indicate to me that they were just common coins and offered my a price. I said thank you and went to gather them and the old crusty guy says what you dont want any money for these? I said I would consider it later and he growled. The price he gave me was very low and I ended up selling them on a feebay auction for almost three times his offer. What a waste of time. I will not go there to patronize them or encourage others to either. Rude is an understatement.
Not an ounce of friendliness in guy I dealt with. Actually kind of a jerk. Guess I interrupted his book reading.
Exchanged donated coins for anti-Catholic slander. There must be somewhere else to go... the business owner deserves worse than this.
Purchased a 1877S Trade Dollar for $300 for Christmas. Just came back from PCGS as VF Details - Damaged. Very frustrating!
Rude old men that have little to no customer service skills. I cant believe they are still open. Waste of mall space. Dont waste your time. Go to a different coin shop.
Gave us$500 for a coin we thought was 35 cents. Super honest Super fair !!
Just like everybody else says rude old man
Rude and dont answer questions
One rude dude.
No customer service
Snobbery at its best.
Rude, unwilling to help.
