Ive been going to these guys for brakes since the early 90s. And, in spite of the stellar experience, Im always amazed when I take one of our family vehicles in, prepared for the worst case scenario, and learn that its nothing or very little thats needed to send me on my way. Today, it was Your pads are all good and your pulsating brakes were that your front rotors need to be turned. Out the door an hour later for barely $100. Gotta love these guys!

Went in for a simple alignment and I know for a fact that my car didnt have the issues this guy was telling me because I just got it all done but this guy kept telling me I needed to pay almost 3 grand for an alignment!!! So I took my business elsewhere and got it done for 60 bucks oh and I took his and my paperwork to the better business bureau because this place tried to rip me off hard! With that being said dont go in because they will take advantage of you and tell you lies

Absolutely would not recommend, went to have my brakes checked, while my car was there they knocked the drivers window off track and made no attempt to fix it. I called them after I noticed and they were only interested in reminding that they are just a brake shop, they made no attempt to fix it. This place is more like golden rule BREAK.

I went in for an emergency repair while traveling. The staff here addressed the issue quickly and had me on the road within an hr. Ben, specifically, made sure to handle my truck in a pinch and saved me $700 off of a different quote from a repair shop. They are great!!

I am so very pleased with my first encounter with Anthony and the Monroe Street shop!!! I have a Ford Edge that had recently been to a major dealership for brakes. They created a noise in them that wasn’t there when I dropped it off and I had to take it back the next day for another try. Got my car back and had a new sound in the brakes so I gave up with that dealer! I tried another local shop and they drove it, said they took them apart and still did not hear or see the problem. It was an intermittent “whomp” sound from the right back area. I called Golden Rule on a whim, got a quick appointment and WOW! Anthony drove it that morning and heard the sound. I got a quick call they would do a thorough look. I received my car back the same day with a complimentary checkup and NO “whomping sound. They were very honest with me. I took my vehicle in thinking something was wrong with the pistons on my breaks. But they were fine. They could have taken advantage of me but they didnt. The staff was pretty cool 😎.I would recommend them to anyone.

As a young woman, Im pretty used to getting taken advantage of. I went here for a free brake inspection about 10 months ago and they told me I had 2 thousand dollars worth of repairs and that I needed my brakes and rotors replaced stat. He even went so far as to show me a brake pad that was cracked. Well, Ive had multiple opinions since then, and different inspections. I went to tirama on 29th and had their head technician take a look, absolutely no cracks and nothing wrong with my rotors. Beware of these guys trying to rip you off, I only recognized it because my brakes werent grinding and I also get more than 2 inspections to get the best idea of what I really need to get done. I only need to spend $200:)

I was urged to leave a review good or bad. I respect that. Francis location can kick rocks....not interested in my business on more than one occasion. Monroe location seemed pretty busy yet made time for both inspection and service rendered at the drop of a hat. I delt with Ben and have no doubt the rest of the crew are just as awesome. Seemed a little costly but after poking around a bit. You get what you pay for. Best parts no lies quick turnaround and a rare professionalism. Ben was very patient with me and I will be bringing my wifes vehicle in. EXCELLENT JOB GUYS!

Honestly we told them the problem and they took the vehicle and charged us for other services than what we asked them to look at and then charged for something they didnt do. But since we have no evidence that they didnt do it I wont be getting my money back. Never coming back here again horrible service. Spent my last bit of money there and the problem isnt even fixed. I got a quote from Les Schwab saying I had bent tie rods on my front right, took it into Golden Rule, after a full examination they said there was no tie rod damage and what I really needed was an alignment. Talk about refreshing, I will always go there for my undercarriage service.

These guys are great. They are honest, intelligent and hard working. More than once they have identified an issue as a minor problem and did not charge anything for it. They give accurate estimates and are easy to work with.

I read through a lot of the reviews and seen they had a lot of positive ones but the few negative ones had me worried, Im very happy I took my car in and had them at least give me an estimate, they called me with it and told me my sway bar was slightly loose when its supposed to not move at all but he didnt feel as if it was a safety concern so if I didnt have the money I shouldnt worry about it and thats what made me feel like they were actually honest and not trying to scam people out of money. Thank you for your honesty and very fast service!!!!!!!!!!

I took my car to Golden Rule Brake on Monroe. The technicians found a piece of medal embedded in one of my brake pads, they showed it to me and I watched the technician dislodge it with a pocket knife. He said that should take care of the squeal you are hearing. They did some buffing and cleaning and put my brakes back together. The squeak is gone! What is even better, when I asked how much I owed for their work, they said no charge. Pretty cool. I am very happy and will be a loyal customer from now on.

All the commercials are totally true. I experienced it first hand. I stopped by on saturday to have my brakes checked and an alignment. The guys were totally honest and my brakes and alignment were both good. They didnt charge me for any of their time. I will be taking my vehicles there from now on!I took a second car in last week and this experience was as good as the first. I had an alignment done on my new car. Took my old 4Runner in there with rusted out brake lines, pretty convinced there wasnt much I could do or afford. Corey was quick and very efficient with a diagnosis and a plan, and an incredible quote which was EXACTLY what I paid when I went in to pick the truck up only a few hours later, ahead of the schedule hed given me. I will never go here again I went in to get my brakes checked and they said my brakes where fine but I needed to replace an inner right tire rod I had them replace it then went to my mechanic because my vehicle was acting up and was told both left and right inner and outer tire rods on both side needed to be replaced and I had to pay my mechanic for a job they should of done right in the first place and I ended up paying for both sides to be replaced and this was after taking it back and then their mechanic telling me it was fine so I feel like I got completely ripped off because there mechanics are incompetent and I had to pay more for my mechanic to fix it right don’t get ripped off like I did stay away if you need anything done other then brakes done they will take your money

I took my truck in to get an estimate on redoing the brakes (they still worked fine but I knew it was getting close to the replacement time). I left my truck there in the morning and by the afternoon they called me and said the brakes had about 10% life in them and they should be replaced. They gave me a quote and it seemed high so I said I would get another one. When I picked the truck up a few hours later I immediately noticed something was very wrong. The brakes barely worked and screeched loudly. I turned around the block and went back and they told me I must have broke it and it would have to repaired there cause I wouldn’t be able to drive on it.My father didn’t heed my warning and he just went back for his third time to fix brakes that they replaced on his Yukon less than a year ago that haven’t stopped screeching since they put new brakes in. They tell him just to “stomp on the brakes hard when you stop to avoid screeching”.0/10 would not recommend.

These guys are awesome! Honest, hardworking, trustworthy people. They don’t try to oversell on anything. I brought my car in for what I thought was going to be a huge fix and just the opposite happened. It ended up being a very minor fix and didn’t charge me. This is why I consistently go back time and time again!

I had previously gone into Golden Rule and was told I needed a new tie rod. Life happens and I didnt make it back to get it done. I found myself with time on my hands and dropped in to schedule an appointment. Please note this is tagged not professional because I didnt have a dishonesty button. This place was reccomended to me. I went in for an alignment. I left with about 1 grand in repairs to my brakes specifically needing donePlus alignment. I asked basic advice on which parts to do first. I then went home and started disassemble because I couldnt afford to do all of this through mechanic and have the know how for large portions. They made it out to be like my brake system was toast. Completely. Turns out I only needed shoes and a wheel seal in the back.anfd only needed pads and a caliper on the front. The most disturbing part was while doing my brakes I discovered that my front right caliper was siezed in the open position. They simply had said my brake WAS locked up. Not that it was still siezed and. This is information that would have seen me flatbedding my vehicle home instead of driving it with my grandmother in the vehicle. If you know enough about cars then absolutely go here. Then double check what they are telling you before proceeding. If not... Go anywhere else. As you will likely be gouged for unnecessary work.

The guys made a couple mistakes on the first go around but the owner personally contacted me when he heard about it and they did their best to make it right!

If all you want is brake work then these guys are as good as any other shop. I have used them since the early nineties but will be changing. Recently I took my wifes car in on a morning and mine on the same day in the afternoon. I picked up my wifes car at lunch and dropped mine. Unfortunately I did not check my wifes car because I was short of time. My wifes car has a mostly black interior but her headliner is light grey. Later I saw it had greasy fingerprints overhead by the map light switches. My car has a light interior, and was picked up after the shop closed. It had grease and oil on the drivers seat, inside the drivers door handle, drivers door jam, center console cover, and the center console video screen. Both my wifes car and mine had the automatic headlight switch turned off. If all you want is a brake job and dont care about the condition of you car then these are your guys. The grease and oil on your interior is completely FREE. This review was originally a negative review, but after a call from the owner of Golden Rule and his desire to treat customers right all has been corrected. I will return in the future to this establishment. I have used this company for over 20 years and have taken 10-12 vehicles to them in that time. They have always done excellent work and at the lowest price. It is nice to know that there are companies that not only listen to customer concerns but are willing to do something to make customers happy. This is one of those companies.

Went in bc I new I needed at least front pads. Well after going over everything it turns out I needed a whole lot done. Quite the surprise however it needed it desperately. Corey wrote me up an estimate and explained everything thoroughly. With the wiggle room I had for finances I was able to have everything done except front upper and lower ball joints. That Ill have done in the near future. Corey is great, very friendly, honest. He made it right with me. Plus bc it was going to take a few hours he dropped me off at home and picked me up... granted I live close but I thought that was above and beyond customer service. Ive always recommended golden rule to others and will continue to do so. Thanks again Corey youre a rock star in my book.

A couple of months ago I took SUV to Golden Rule after local dealership said brakes were shot. They inspected and Mike said they were good. I said if they will be going bad soon lets change them. He said we will change them if you want us to, but you really do not need them done and he showed me the pads were still good. Taken many autos to Golden Rule. Always feel we are treated fairly.

My brakes suddenly started making an awful grinding sound. Called Golden Rule on Saturday, they got me in Monday, called about 2 hours later with a timely estimate, and stayed late to get my vehicle back to me the same day. Friendly service, and Im driving safely again!

Fantastic! Had a 3000mile road trip planned and went in for an inspection. They put me in the same day, took the wheels off to inspect, and told me my brakes were fine and gave me the name of a differential shop up in deer park for a leak they found. No charge for estimates or inspections, and especially no unnecessary work, all that is good to know. Thank you Golden Rule on Monroe and Mike.

Last year: Golden Rule Brake Explained where my brakes were at-lifewise and told me when Id need them checked again, which then was about 20,000 miles. Very nice and professional. Didnt try to get the sale out of me, like the guy at the tire store the very next day did. Its time to change your brakes (and we can do that for you)...Yesterday: Golden Ruke Brake. They did it again. I heard my brakes squeak and took my car-and money in for The Procedure, this time for sure to get them replaced. But sigh. Nope. Weather and brake dust. If...and when these guys become shady...Ill let you know! PS Thanks for easing my mind with the truth....

Paid $530 a ton the Monroe location new rotors on both axels and new brake pads on rear. Pricing was appropriate and service was fairly timely. Noticed issues almost immediately after picking up my car and driving home. Significant squeal noise while driving in a straight line and very loud braking. No sounds were present when I brought my vehicle in.Today I took my car to the valley location on my lunch break. They were quick to notice an error Made by the other location described as “bent a piece of hardware”. After about a 35 minute appointment, car appears to be fine.It doesn’t not instill much confidence in the quality of workmanship or the value of my purchase of small details liken this are not noticed before turning my vehicle to me. Certainly does not seem the car was appropriately checked before returning it to me. Hopefully they didn’t not skip over any other steps during their work that may impact the safety and durability of my hardware.Next time my car needs work done, I will bro considering other options even if they are just 10-20 more for service.

Mike and the guys do excellent and honest work. Theyre not going to jack you around like other places in town do, they tell it straight without any fluff or BS. Amazing place I went there because my car was making noise not sure what it was. Corey took a look at my car Kia Sorento was able to tell me it was just my tire. Went and got new tires no more noise. He was awesome and saved me tons of money. Thank you Golden Rule and Corey.

I didnt know it at the time but I had a broken strut spring but they put on new rotors and pads. I came back a second time since the issue was not resolved and thats when they found the broken strut. Something like that would be hard to miss. They also were telling me the car had another issue but I took it elsewhere and they said there was no issue at all. I would not recommend this shop to anyone.

My husband walked into a store was not even near the no parking sign and they instantly put his car on a tow was about ready to tow it to your place and charged him $100 to drop it right now off the truck thanks for taking all my money your company is a rip-off just trying to get money fast.

I needed a vehicle inspection to drive for a ride share company so I called Golden Rule because of all the good things Ive heard about them. They unfortunately dont do those inspections, but instead of just turning me away they pointed me in the direction of another mechanic.

I have had good service in the past, but recent experiences have not been as good, took my mustang in for an alignment and they said the ball joints were shot. Quoted me a price replacing the ball joints including alignment and then charged for the alignment. The front end was making a racket a 6 weeks later, took it back and they failed to lube the ball joints. Suspicious me, I sent my wife to get an estimate on her Envoy because the brakes were failing, they said it needed upper and lower ball joints, sway bars, rear axle seals, brake pads, rotors, etc. I replaced the pads, rotors and seals, took the car to the dealer hoping to have them replaced under warranty and they could not find anything wrong with the ball joints or sway bars. After complaining the owner at Golden Rule reimbursed the cost of alignment, the northside store said they would replace the ball joints also.

Great experience, will definitely be back!I originally brought my 98 GMC Sierra to the Northside/Francis location (without an appointment) to see about getting a brake inspection (it was having issues with grinding, squealing, and grabbing, as well as one of the rear drums seemed to be seizing intermittently). One of their crew (cant remember his name, sorry) was very apologetic, saying that they wouldnt be able to get to it until later that day- but, without having to wait for me to ask, immediately offered to contact the Monroe location to see if they could have it looked at right away (now thats good customer service right off the bat!). He made the call- and with that help, my truck was in one of their bays as soon as I arrived. The excellent service continued there- as Corey (and the crew on Monroe St.) was so patient and attentive in listening to what I had to say and ask of them, and in turn he was very honest about all aspects of the work that was needed and the costs involved. The work was complete well before the end of the day, and with what was needed I felt was a reasonable price (which consisted of new rear shoes & wheel cylinders, resurfaced one drum, new master cylinder, inspected/cleaned/lubricated/made adjustments on the rest of the brake system to factory specs, bled all lines, etc. for $604.00 out the door as quoted before work began). The brakes on my truck are operating as well as they ever have been, and I will not hesitate to come back (as well as referring friends and family) here to Corey and the team at GRB!!!

UPDATE: Dallas called me right away to fix the situation but Ive had a busy schedule so I just took it back in today. They did another brake inspection and took pictures of the parts that are faulty and after seeing them I feel like I have to address my old review. I did take my car to Les Shwab after the first inspection and their diagnosis was a completely different one. I dont think their tech was nearly as thourough leading to them telling me it was fine. (That will be a whole different review!) The pictures Dallas took show obvious things that the other shop overlooked. My next step is to find room in my budget to address the issues. However when I go in for a brake check because I was told my rear brake drums might have dust in them (hence the noise I was hearing) and they foot me with a $1997. Estimate..(naming tons of parts and hoses that could or should be replaced) wow... Then I go to another brake shop for a second opinion. My brakes are 💯 fine... They still have 40% left in them. The squeak was because yes, they were dirty. The second location showed me all the parts because I was obviously confused.. how could I have a $2000 ESTIMATE FROM ANOTHER SHOP IF NOTHING IS WRONG?? (They did not know I had taken to Golden Rule earlier..) I turned over the list from Golden Rule, said are you sure?! And they went through and checked everything IN FRONT OF ME. No cracked hoses, no leaks, no springs in need of replacement. Not a thing but a little cleaning and I am noise free, strong brakes, rolling down the street .... Remembering the Golden rule when I grew up... Do unto others, or as my mom used to put it, treat others the way YOU want to be treated, THATS THE GOLDEN RULE.

They ordered the wrong rotors after i told them i just wanted front pads check out the photo I posted two ppl working on my car vaping playing with there phones not working on my car at all making me wait 3 hrs with no other cars or customers and I had an appointment, way over priced. $400 to replace front brake pads on a 2000 Honda Civic. These ppl are just $ scammer...update I told the guys specifically just pads no rotors! You werent even there the parts truck came and left twice and your trusted employees got the parts and sat back down and I took the picture then waited hours! Also my rotors were over 50 percent left according to your guys and later confirmed at honda dealers drove fine for another 6 months then I paid $22 on amazon for me brake pads not hundreds like you suggested the price is and guess what 2 years later now they are still great. You guys mark up and overcharge and harassing ppl who leave a bad review with multiple calls leave me alone fix your business

WOW. I desperately needed my brakes done but was really broke at the time. When I talked to them, I let them know that this was the case. After they checked out my rig they came back and said pretty much everything needed to be done and it would cost $900. This after I explicitly told them that I could only afford pads and a rotor turn. I told them no and while I sat and waited an older gentleman came in and talked to the manager who was running the counter at the time. The manager was very rude and denied the validity of everything the gentleman was saying. I was astounded by this mans incredibly unprofessional behavior. Eventually after the older gentleman realized who he was dealing with just said You know what, Ill go somewhere that wants my business and left. I wish I had too after seeing that despicable display of disrespect. I later got the things checked that they said needed to be replaced-big surprise they didnt need it. A lot of places like this prey on people who will just consent to $1000 of repairs that are unecessary. I will NEVER go back to this place. They are SHADY and Ive already warned all my friends. Hopefully you will now be able to avoid their honesty too.

Lied, sexist, rude, utterly unprofessional. Tried to force me to use his service by putting my car back together in non-working condition. It took 30 minutes to get him to admit fault, put it back in the condition I brought it in as. His best excuse was he didnt touch it, his employees did. Most horrible experience Ive had to date when it comes to cars, and that is really saying something.

Brought my car in because my brakes were squealing. Golden Rule Brake told me I needed new pads all the way around, new calipers on the front, and new front rotors. Quoted price was over $800. I declined and took my car to a different mechanic. He said my calipers are fine & I have more than 50% of my brake pad material left! The rotors could be turned. I definitely recommend getting a 2nd opinion if a quote seems too high.

Do not take your car here for breaks you regret it ...my car wasnt not squeaking tell it went in there than there are two different break pads on my vehicle from when they changed the break pads .

Nice enough mechanics but they tried to charge me double what another place wanted for a booster replacement.
