Got to meet the new owners and they are just as awesome as the last! Great atmosphere, clean and service was amazing! We cant wait to come back!
1st day of a long weekend. Jay surprised me with a morning coffee date at Tom Sawerys Coffee Roasters for a new coffee fad FLIGHTS!!!Thank you my love for a fun relaxing morning!! I had the original flight menu and Jay had the drip coffee variety. If you are in Spokane, WA I highly recommend a trip. Limited goodies but, we had a day old blueberrie scone (asked them to warm it for 10 seconds, BEST AMOUNT 8F TIME FOR OLD PASTRIES) It was delicious 😋
In the heart of Kendal Yards is this eclectic little coffee shop. They offer some of the boldest coffee in Spokane. They have focused on the grind & perfected their roast over the years! Not only do they deliver a solid cold brew but they also serve up the most amazing baked goods. I have recently jumped on the Coffee Flight trend and I was satisfied with every sip.
Some people that have probably never even been here are leaving bad reviews for no good reason. I came here while visiting the area on vacation and it was a truly lovely coffee place that contributed to my positive view of Spokane. My husband and I (and yes, we are people of color 🙄) happened to meet the owner and he was very sweet and welcoming and the baristas were very kind as well. There is a good amount of seating & a great atmosphere with vintage/antique coffee tins and things like that decorating the walls. They also have ice cream and we got some on the side with our coffee. Great place. Thanks Gary!
In short ..I was skeptical. Not for long. The young lady serving was delightful and helpful. The new owner Tom gave us a brief education of the history of the original owner and tips on other coffees. The flight experience was awesome. The coffees were smooth with no bitter bite. We felt like long time valued customers. I cannot wait to share this venue with my ladies group. Thanks for making the day great. Many years of continuous success! BRAVO
Very nice and courteous service. Drinks are delicious.
Looking for a great cup of coffee, well you found it at Tom Sawyers Country Coffee. Roasted on the premise they offer a variety of blends including Water Processed Decaf and Organic Blends. Located in beautiful Kendal Yards after enjoying your coffee stroll around and discover shops, wineries and restaurants located next to the Spokane River. Tired of over roasted coffee? Come to Tom’s. They Also do custom grinds here.
Not Covid Friendly - Setting a bad precedent under new ownership for a place with an already bad reputation. I am very frustrated and disappointed in this business. As Spokane county teeters on the edge of regressing back to Phase 2, not one employee was wearing a mask when I came to the shop. When I asked why, the girl at the register evaded my question and just asked what she could get me. As a business under new ownership with a complicated history, I was excited to patron this coffee shop however I think Ill be avoiding it in the future.
I usually prefer the light roast, hipster coffee shops. These guys are a bit more on the dark roast side but they do it really, really well!Drip is good black, espresso is good straight and the bag of Blondie was the best darker roast coffee I’ve brewed (French press and Aero press) in a long time!If you like good coffee but have trouble convincing your S-bux loving friends to try quality coffee, this place bridges the gap beautifully!
Love this coffee shop! Outstanding service and I appreciate that they stand up for what they believe in. Plus such a cute spot to drink some coffee!
This is a great coffee shop. My friends from the bay area load up when they come to visit, but you can buy online too. The coffee is roasted in shop. You can meet the owner, who is kind and knowledgeable, and smell all the different roasts. The cold brew is not to be missed, both as a pour and on nitro. The nitro brews are made per cup, with a system that pulls nitro straight from the air instead of individual canisters. The staff is also very talented. You wont be disappointed if you ask for recommendations of fun drinks. I recommend the undertone 😉 They also have a selection of teas and smoothies for non coffee drinkers, as well as the Golden Latte, which is a tasty tumeric based drink that is full of awesome antiinflammatory properties! They have a great atmosphere. The shop is SO clean. The patio is great and they have a big garage door that opens to make the shop feel open air. They also have a conference room available, which I plan to utilize in the future! They also just got ice cream, and it is definitely some of the best in town. Do not miss the salted caramel pretzel. They recommend it affogato style, with an espresso shot poured on top. I have been here several times and I love it. I have never had a bad experience.
Great environment, great coffee ☕
I met a friend for coffee and we tried the Coffee Flight of 4 different delicious cold brew concoctions! It was fun and adventurous and the staff was amazing.
Really a nice place with friendly staff.
I knew something was different when I walked through the door, but I could not figure out what. Then this polite gentleman that had just emptied the roaster, walked over introduced himself as the new owner. No wonder there were people I didnt recognize back in the roasting area, an stamping bags for the beans that had just been roasted.Everything else is still the way it has always been.So the next time you are down by Spokane county courthouse and need a cup of coffee, head to Maple Street located above the Maple Street Bridge corridor, drive to the end of the street and you will find one of the best kept secrets in all of Spokane. Oh, they also have whole bean Blue Mountain Jamaican Coffee that is roasted onsite.Try BMJ coffee and you will understand why it is literally rated the best coffee in the world, and that is no joke.
Im not a coffee drinker, but my friends and associates are. So while I cant rate the coffee specifically, I can rate the service and the chai latte I enjoyed, which were both wonderful. The location isnt necessarily convenient, but it is quite charming and the ambiance inside is super cool with lots new and antique roasting and grinding equipment. Id definitely come back with more coffee-loving friends and family.
The spring flight was delightful and I wanted to buy all the merch!
I have been coming here for a couple of years and enjoyed the atmosphere and service. The product is high quality and costs a bit more but worth the price! I buy the Organic blends for home use. I do miss the old displays of coffee products and equipment that have been taken down, but I guess that is progress??? The political dust up was crazy! If politics is an issue about where one shops, you are part of the problem in this country today. Lets all get along!
Always great coffee and a very friendly staff, I recommend buying their whole bean coffee that is roasted in house to take home, the Viking Roast is one of my favorites.
Met some friends here for the first time despite living so close. Being from Seattle, quality of coffee is really important to me. This coffee was top notch. Impressed with the offerings of some of the best coffees sourced from around the globe. I will be back soon! Thank you!
A little off the beaten path but definitely worth a visit. The espresso was wonderful and service outstanding. First time wanted to try different blends so purchased sampling offer. 3 half lbs. for reasonable rate. Coffee house smells to give you a sit and relax mood. Sorry I didnt get names but service was tops.
They have amazing coffee! We buy Toms Favorite Organic.
Just had a sample of a nitro brew with cinnamon. It was delicious. Great coffee and they know how to make good coffee drinks. They roast right there at the shop. Nice open atmosphere and seating inside and patio seating outside.
I love this place! The coffee is some of the best in Spokane and the roasts have been perfected over many years of experience. The staff is so friendly and welcoming and the owners care about their community and staff! Always going to be a favorite in my family.
This place is great. Amazing staff and amazing coffee. Ignore the 1 star reviews posted around June 17th. They are fake reviews and all done to bully the owner who gave gift cards to law enforcement. We have a sad society who whenever offended tends to belittle those who think different from them...which is why suddenly all these 1 star reviews came up. I plan to keep going here and supporting a small business who does big things for the community. Thank you to all the hard working employees.
I fell in love the moment the waitress set my cherry limeade down, and I saw a small scoop of limemade sherbet. Im not a huge fan of the onion rings, but thats just in general but I ordered the 50/50 & thats how it usually comes; I wish I wouldve gotten fries and tater tots instead. The burger was fantastic and tasted cooked to order. I appreciate the fresh leaf of lettuce!
Just ordered a few pounds. Really excited to try the dark roasts. Will for sure come in for that Jamaican. Rare to find a single source Jamaican.
Love this place and love the coffee❤️
I went there once some time ago and wont go back. First its not worth the cost of what they sell. Its one of these inflated price average coffee types of places.I didnt find the atmosphere welcoming, uncomfortable seating, terrible service.Overall the experience just left a bad taste in my mouth. From the Rocket to Indaba to Boots or Boo Radleys, there are far better coffee shops at this price point in Spokane.
The entire package, friendly staff, great environment and exceptional coffee, all roasts including the decaf are second to none! Thank you to everyone for always making our experience unique. God bless you Gary, “Tom” for understanding the leadership principle, and surrounding yourself with incredible people!
Such a great coffee shop! I saw at least 10 people come in just for their bags of coffee. The owners take time to ask about what you are using your coffee for to give you the best grind consistency. Everyone was so kind and welcoming. A must see!
Hands down best coffee in the world. They have every blend and roast I have ever heard of. If I ever couldnt get there Toms favorite roast I would probably just quite drinking coffee I could never go back to regular coffee.
Wonderful place!!! Coffee is great and they roast it on site. The location is a mixture of industrial and commercial with what looks like the bagging and grinding operation on one half of the store and the register and seating on the other half. It has wonderful old coffee brewing and grinding antiques situated around the room to give a very Museum feel to the store. It can get noisy in the shop when the coffee roaster is operating and service can take awhile sometimes. All in all they serve great coffee and I would recommend it to anyone.
This place is incredible. Customer service is amazing, with a genuine desire to serve the community well.
Fantastic place to get a cup of coffee. Come for the fun environment and stay for the great coffee 😊
Excellent place to go. Down to earth. Will be back
Good tasting coffee. Please smells good! Very polite people to talk to. Layout and themes of the place is beyond interesting. Old coffee machine. Sitting is comfortable. Menu is easy to read. Havent tried fruit drinks yet but I hope to. Possibly my new favorite coffee shop in Spokane.
Best roasted coffee in Spokane, been supporting him for over the past ten years. Great guy and coffee.
I love Tom Sawyer coffee! Love the environment and the coffee too! Highly recommended.
The church I attend exclusively uses their coffee. Sunday mornings are typically the best coffee I have all week. Love this stuff!
Hands down best coffee and best local roaster in Spokane. They really know what their doing and couldn’t be anymore friendly. Really won me over when we brought my daughter with us to grab some coffee and the owner offered her some coffee and gave us an impromptu tour of the roaster.
Best coffee I ever had. Thank you for making such a wonderful product.
Cool place. Tom himself came out to help me pick out a roast tot ake home and even pulled some fresh roasted beans out from a bin behind the roaster to send with me. Great service and a lifetime of experience.
What can I say......The VIking dark coffee is my ALL TIME FAVORITE!Love the warm inviting Vibe of this coffee house....and did I mention LOVE THEIR Viking Dark Blend! The AROMA That fills the house when I grind those beans! Love supporting a local family owned business!Tom Sawyer Country Coffee ROCKS!
Awesome coffee in an awesome setting. Dont be fooled by the exterior, which is rather plain. Inside the shop it has a light industrial vibe and is decorated with TONS of vintage coffee paraphernalia like cans, packages, coffee grinders, coffee pots, etc. In addition, the machinery used for their roasting operation is in full view. Best of all, the coffee is terrific and the service very friendly.
Tom Sawyer roasts the best coffee in the Inland Northwest. Tom has an amazing selection of coffee and some very creative blends. If you want the worlds best cappuccino then show up when Sarah is working. Best dry cappuccino Ive ever had. Love the coffee! Great job you guys.
My families go to coffee shop.I stop here any chance I get and always get the choloca (gotta check it out)I love coffee and that coffee taste and they will make it with as much or little sugar as you want. The staff has rotated over the years but never disappoints. They are always willing to serve even if it’s a last minute request for 2 gallons.
Amazing coffee and friendliest people youll meet! Super helpful too. Gave me great tips on learning to make my own cold brew at home. Love this place!
Awesome cup of coffee and a wonderful pound to go...I love watching the coffee roasted...
Great local place! Friendly staff and they support our community!
1st. Time to go here and the coffee is delicious. We both loved it and bought 2 pounds. Super nice people too.
Delicious experience! Try the Golden (Turmeric) Latte and enjoy it out on the patio. I also had caramel pretzel ice cream-oh, yum! Staff was helpful & knowledgeable. ENJOY!
We really miss the antique coffee grinders and containers.
A very cute coffee shop with friendly staff. The iced tea I got was delicious.
Tom Sawyer country coffee is our favorite coffee in Spokane!! The owner (Tom) speaks with the voice of 50+ years experience!! Consistently Top shelf coffee cannot brew accidentally!Be happy, drink coffeeThank you Tom Sawyer!!James and Chris
Great little coffee shop. Family run. Everyone always friendly. Willing to answer questions and educate those of us newer to coffee beyond black. Will grind coffee for you and reseal bags. Smells heavenly. They roast on site and they will give you a tour if your nice. Certain blends support veterans or local schoolss. Also have ice cream and SmartFruit smoothies.
Great selection of coffee from around the world and nice friendly service
Luv the antique coffee tins and grinders! We still have some good tins from dads collection. Fun!
Cool antique coffee stuff, nice patio for enjoying nice weather, dog friendly, and good smoothies in addition to coffee if you want to mix it up.
What a great little coffee shop!I was given a free coffee for having to wait only a short time. The employees are really nice and the coffee is great. Looks like its roasted on-site.
Delicious beans! I am hooked on Black and Tan blend to take home and then having anything in the shop is a wonderful experience. You can watch (and smell!) the roasting process while the barista prepares your drink.
Worst latte of my life. Terrible hours. Go somewhere else. There are PLENTY of better coffee options in the area.
Excellent coffee and excellent service. The staff is very knowledgable, kind, and know how to make you feel at home. I would highly recommend getting coffee from Tom Sawyer.
Best coffee hands down!
Good coffee. Friendly staff. Great atmosphere. I go out of my way to take coffee here.
Tom Sawyer did not get in the business as a hobby like a lot of current roasters. Hes been a lifelong Roaster and brings that expertise to the best coffee blends in the city. Excellent coffee.
Fresh hot coffee and awesome service...
Always the best coffee roast in town. Love the owners and staff. I send their coffee as presents to all my friends and family.
My friend at William Grant Gallery told me to come here, and WOW!!! SOOOO COOL!!! Great service and exceptional coffee! I had my first nitrogen toddy, and it is beyond delicious! Check out this hidden gem! :)))
A nice quiet local coffee house. Good for retired folks, or people who don’t have to get to work until later in the morning.
Great atmosphere to sit down and do your homework. The Barista was very friendly and she made my coffee very delicious. I always like to try a white chocolate and irish creme latte and it was supurb! i like my coffee to lean more on coffee flavor than artificial syrup flavor and this came out delish. The coffee shop is uniuque with its vintage signs, coffee machines and very cute displays. Also, the aromas of the coffee beans being packaged is something that adds more to your day and might be too distracting while studying but it smells so AMAZING!
Barista was very friendly and knowledgeable. The shop was nicely decorated with everything in stock. Prices were reasonable.
Coffee is good, place wasnt busy on a Saturday afternoon, one family group aside from us. Barista barely spoke to us. Strong coffee.
Great coffee made by awesome people, if you have time you can learn how the whole process works from the tree to the cup.
Under new management will be trying again now.
Great locally owned and operated business.
Fast, Delicious, Delightfully Roasted and close to downtown. This is a must stop-by coffee shop in the Kendall Yards area!
Not good enough for me to ever go back.
Great roasted coffee, excellent customer service. The Chai Tea is amazing.
Fantastic tour of the roasting and grinding process. Warm personalities. very knowledgable staff. Speciality coffees. Magnificent barista who loves her work. Marvelous museum of the coffee industry. Bookkeeper walks on water. Wonderful aroma throughout the plant.
Just goofing off with spouse on a dreary day so stopped in to spoil our lunch with a nice scone and latte. Enjoyed visiting with Gary too.
Very warm atmosphere, with great staff and lots of antiques to look at. Best coffee in Spokane!!
