Upon entering the museum, we were met with friendly staff. After paying for admission, theres a small gift shop on the right thats best visited before you leave (go ahead and skip for now and head downstairs). The rest of the museum is on lower levels of the building.Note: This museum was very quiet and hardly any visitors were present. Great place if you want to take your time and really enjoy the pieces. DO NOT expect this museum to be colossal. In my opinion, its on of the smaller ones in the state. *We went through everything pretty quick and was hoping for more. This museum is interactive to an extent. There are rooms were you can get creative (hat making, crafts, etc.) Definitely a cool place for your inner child if your inner child likes crafting among taxidermy. :)The best parts for me where the stained glass exhibits. Purely magical! The strangest part was the indigenous display showing beer cans crafted into ceremonial items. Would be nice to see those items as seen before beer cans made it on the scene. (See photos)Walking down the stairs to the end of the museum, youll see what looked like papermache hanging animals on the small stairwell. At the bottom theres stacked museum furniture and... youre done...Take the elevator back up, and now would be a good time to check out the gift shop.Overall 5☆/5☆ experience.I came into it expecting to be way bigger, but to no fault of the museums. A clean place overall too.
I’d been here about 7 years before. The quality of experience was just as good today. I came to see the Audubon exhibit this time. The staff was very friendly and workable with admission. The galleries are well laid out and curated. They did a nice nod to a local artist Justin Gibbens in an adjacent gallery to Audubon. The local artist’s exhibition complemented Audubon with a fresh perspective. I thought that Gibbens did a great job of taking a similar Audubon style while presenting subtle commentary and uniqueness to his pieces. My favorites were the Swamp piece with the roseate spoonbill and the what seems to be island scrub jay.A very good museum that keeps the connection local.
The Louis Comfort Tiffany exhibit is amazing. So many ways to capture light in windows, lamps, vases! Thank you for bringing this art to Spokane.
I love how clean and open the museum is and the way they arrange their displays always feels nice, neat and organized
The museum was decent. As far as using them as a venue for an event, I would not recommend. The event coordinator is a complete pile and acted as if they were doing us a favor to use the space that was paid for. They made no concessions to help make the wedding go smooth and absolutely everything was a problem. In fact, they added a giant art installation a week before the wedding and their solution to the lack of room was to lower the headcount. Luckily our caterer was amazing and was able to provide a better space days ahead of the wedding. I hope the caterer we hired cuts ties completely with this venue.
It was great. They have wheel chairs for those with handicaps. The inside is big and spacious. The mesh museum store was nice. The receptionists was very friendly. The exhibit was interesting and informational. They have interactive parts for children. Definitely recommend.
A nice museum with good exhibits on art and history, but the real star is the Campbell House.
I loved how we could check out the Campbell house - there were actors there the day we went that made the experience somewhat immersive, and it was so fun. I loved how the main gallery gave us loads of information about the artist. And my favorite part was the interactive section that is perfect for engaged children (or just active and curious adults). Gift store has a ton of cool items as well!Hands down worth the admission price for our 2+ hours of adventure.
So enjoyed the beautiful Chihuly Exhibit along with the great Native American Exhibit. Since I love Glass, planning to attend the Tiffany Exhibit in November!
I love how often they change their displays! Beautiful museum, had a wonderful time exploring. SUPER cute gift shop too.
Really cool native exhibits. Loved the cambells house. Worth the admission alone.
Great small museum. Dont miss the Autubon show! The Native American show is also very well done. Enjoy!
Absolutely a beautiful museum, very well taken care of and always worth stopping to see the current exhibits. All the staff are awesome and always helpful to me.
Two excellent exhibits, one on Audoban with his work told alongside him and his families history (rare, they all contributed a lot) and other modern interpretations of his work. World War II exhibit with local peoples stories who had served and displays with different antiques from the era describing how life was, not so much focused on the war itself but the time. Next door was a mansion of a wealthy silver mine owner, you can tour for free with admission to the museum. Well worth the money, good place to get out of the heat for an hour or two.
Great local gem. They had a nice variety in the few galleries. We went for the Chihully exhibit today. They also had some local Native textiles in one gallery. Another space had large landscapes from the arctic regions of Canada and Alaska. They even had a glass blowing exhibition out in front of the museum. Of course there is a nice little gift shop. They also have the historic Campbell house next door.
For being a smaller museum, The MAC gets some really interesting and unique exhibits. Ive gone to a few different exhibits, the last being monsters from mythology, and Ive been blown away at the information and the displays. As you spiral down to the main exhibit you find several smaller exhibits that are just as unique as the main exhibit or some that are even more interesting. Plus when youre done you can take a tour of the Campbell House that is on the same campus. The photos are different textiles made in the Spokane area plus a life size sabertooth tiger that was made entirely of paper.
The Audubon exhibit was really well done and the gift shop has some really cool stuff.
Went to see the Chihuly exhibit. Was a bit smaller than I was expecting but only because Ive been to the Seattle exhibit a d never to the Spokane museum. The price for entry was cheap IMO $10. There were also other exhibits there and some awesome paintings. The parking was minimal. Probably because it was the opening day for the exhibit.
Cool spot. Need to check back for a different exhibit. John James Audobon bored me and we took a rain check on the campbell house. Friendly staff and cool gift shop
It was very nice. Small gift shop. Several exhibits offered when we went. Elevators for convenience. They also have The Campbell House you can tour included into the reasonable ticket fee.👌 Worth exploring!
Very nice museum and a highlight of our visit was extensive 1 hour guided tour of neighboring Campbell House! Our tour guide Devrick was -very- knowledgeable and gave us amazing info and insight into the family, servants and history of the house and Spokane during the early 1900s - he brought it all to life! Thank you Devrick! This was definitely worth the admission fee and more ( AAA and student discounts apply, so it came out to $8 pp). Staff was very helpful too when we missed the guided tour last week - they gave us a raincheck (use w/in 90 days). Check for hours - Campbell House guided tours are currently Tu-F, Sunday 12,1,2,3pm, and open house format on Saturdays. Get tickets early as it is first come first served!
Went for the DRESSING THE ABBEY exhibit. Absolutely lovely dresses and other attire. The areas were open, clean and attendees quiet and courteous. We enjoyed the other exhibits as well before resting in front of the CAMPBELL HOUSE to enjoy the beauty of the day, history of the neighborhood and childhood adventures spent roaming the streets.
Just kinda meh, the museum is pretty small so I cant really imagine wanting to pay to come again unless I was really excited for an exhibit
A nice, albeit, small museum. Worthwhile to visit to an hour or so.
Every time we visit the exhibitions have been both entertaining and informative, covering local interest and expanding to the rest of the world. Polite, kind helpful staff. Thoughtful following of latest health directives. A joy to visit for the entire family.
Interesting, affordable and first class exhibits. Visited during the Downton Abby exhibit. Overall, there was much less than I was expecting, given it was our first visit, but whats there is great. The Campbell House is a must stop, make time for the tour. Overall, worth the money, but plan no more than a couple hours.
The MAC is a gem of the Inland NW!! The exhibits are always beautiful and thought-provoking. Recently enjoyed the Downton Abbey exhibit and the exquisite clothing worn in the much loved PBS series.
We loved the Downton Abbey exhibit. Beautiful gowns! We also loved the Fly Boys exhibit. I was never a fan of history as a kid, but when I discovered museums, I became a lover of history. Seeing items that belonged to real people and brought to life periods and events made it so real.
This is a distasteful museum. Everything thing here mostly is from 2010 and up nothing relic. Dont waste your time nor money people.
Downton Abbey exhibit was nice but brief. We drove 3 1/2 hours one way for a 15 minute self-guided tour. Nothing else too see there at the museum except the gift shop - very Disappointing. Our small town museum is much more interesting. Maybe it was due to COVID...
Fun family thing to do. Be sure to check out Campbell House next door (included with admission to museum)
My sixteen year old daughter and I loved it and enjoyed every exhibit.
Really helpful staff. Great exhibit of Downton Abbey costumes and the other exhibits were wonderful as well. Especially enjoyed the exhibit that told the story of a dark part of our history the Japanese imprisonment during WW2.
Amazing exhibit, tastefully done with thought given to reflect.
Well managed for social distancing. Really enjoyed the latest exhibits. Free parking is a great bonus.
Wonderful treasure of Spokane, please come and support this museum.
Like this local museum. It is one block from my house so it makes it easy to see new attractions. It currently itls the mythical creatures exhibit.
Great WW 2 European Theater displays and the history of the of the Air War! Many displays of of the personell, Pilots and crewsOf the Bombers and the Fighter escorts. Many personal stories and historical documents.
I really enjoyed my visit here, I would definitely recommend checking it out if theres an exhibit youd be interested in.
Gorgeous!!! Definitely was worth the time to go see. Especially if your into history and Victorian intior Design.
The collection is decent, but needs to be expanded further.
Be sure to give yourself more time than you think you will want to spend there. We especially enjoyed the interactive exhibits and sections!
Been there twice it is amazing! No questions asked
Cant wait to check out the Christmas theme!
Campbell House makes everything else a bonus. Very nice environment.
We came for the Ice Age Titans exhibit. Terrific staff and the exhibit was nicely done. Set in a historical neighborhood, there ends up being quite a bit to see when wandering around. Too bad cafe was shut down because there was a large lag time between when the museum opened and the Campbell (historical) House opened. Nice, informative staff. There were pamphlets all over of the educational classes that the museum hosts. Very cool aspect.UPDATE 9.11.17. Visited for the Z Nation exhibit. It might be a niche exhibit, but for those not in the know, Z Nation is a zombie show airing on SYFY and filmed in the Spokane location. One of the galleries was turned into a sound studio which, according to staff, contains a barber shop, laboratory and morgue (I think the last one is correct) which the tv show is actually FILMED in the museum before a LIVE audience (well, if people happen to show up).The exhibit has tons of info about cast, crew (on the info, theres advice to young people on how to get into the field, which is VERY cool), the show, zombies in general. Its a quick tour but hey, how many tv shows get time in a museum. $10 for most people, not a bad deal. Got a few pics if you wanna see. :D(I admit, Ive only watched a couple episodes of the 1st season. Different premise than Walking Dead. The sound studio is not accessible since they are still using it. Its said that once filming is done, the public can tour it. Exhibit ends pretty soon...)
Went and saw the titanic exhibit! An amazing facility right here in Spokane!
The Tiffany exhibit was great.
A wonderful place to see many wonderouse things.
Nice exhibits and interactive things for the family
The museum is nice but much smaller than I expected. We went to see the mythical creatures exhibit and I expected to see more art work that featured mythical creatures. Instead it was a nice history of the myths.
River warriors brought in 2 dugout canoes for one of the displays thereBring your families in to see them
Lovely experience and the blown glass exhibit was so pretty. Being from Seattle, to see even a mini Chihuly exhibit was a treat. Go and catch it, if you’re able.
Amazing Audubon exhibit. I learned ao much!
Wonderful place! The Downton Abbey costumes were beautifully displayed! Cant wait to return to visit the Campbell House!
Nice exhibits of the local history. Small museum but exhibits were interesting. Enjoyed the visiting exhibit of costumes of downtown abbey
Mammoth exhibit was awesome. Cant wait for next one. MAC is a great asset to our community. Family membership price makes lots of sense. Two visits with family of four pays for itself and more.
Always a joy to visit! Downton Abbey Costume Exhibit was very special. I was anticipating I would see Miss Mary Crawleys wedding dress. Maybe it will be at Highclere when we get there! Thank you, MAC!
Great costumes in the Downtown Abbey exhibit, accompanied with nice furniture to match the period--worth a visit before it leaves in early May! We also enjoyed the exhibit for artist Takuichi Fujii called Witness to Wartime. Very powerful and a must see! Regional artists are brought in for a rotating display in the gallery next to the museum. Currently there is a juried watercolor show and it too is worth seeing. Bottom line: I always enjoy the MAC.
Full displays arts and culture are always incredible. People have always been nice - hopefully theyll be able to open up real soon. My favorite place to visit to the Campbell house.
The Chiluly exhibit is wonderful!! Go see it!
Such a wonderful and educational place to visit.
Beautiful art, very calm atmosphere.
We enjoyed going here with our family. We also loved their gift shop. The only disappointment was that the pop art display was rather small and only part of the museum was open. The prehistoric part was closed.
The only thing that I like just the Campbell house
Downton Abbey was wonderful, and the staff does a great job of maintaining supplemental exhibits.
The experience starts with the view from the parking lot. Entering the museum we were greeted by friendly and informative staff. They keep their exhibits selection fresh and relevant, loved seeing the Pop Art exhibit! The gift shop has really cool souvenirs by local artists.
Wonderful Downton Abbey costumes, WWII exhibit and Japanese artist depictions of internment camps. Our first indoor outing in over a year! Limited people, masking required, must pre purchase tix online.
The MAC is a gem, kind of hidden in plain sight...seek it out!
Consistently have interesting and engaging exhibits.
They should post there return policy, or lack of one
Nice presentation for James Audobons works and the special presentation of the people with direct connections to World War II
I could have saved my money and looked online as there was very few items that belonged in a museum. Lacking actual artefacts. The mystical creature exhibit was a joke. The Campbell house was closed, but was supposed to be included. I could have better spent my money elsewhere.
The Downton Abbey display was exceptional. We really enjoyed our visit and the visit to the Campbell House afterwards. These are wonderful resources for Spokane and the area.
Always an interesting visit.
Fantastic experience. Highly recommend this museum.
It is one of the worst ones Ive ever been toThis huge buildingWith nothing in itAnd there is so much
Some of the exhibits were not quite to my liking and did not get to see the Campbell house.
The MAC has wonderful exhibits. Become a member!
Staff is great and informative. We enjoyed all the exhibits.
Beautiful! Inside and out.
I went there for a their live music by a local band and got a chance to visit the art work in the musiem as well. I highly recommend that you go and visit this place if you are in town and got some time to spare.
Wendys show was fantastic
Good art. Good culture.
