If I could give this store no stars, I would. I had the worst experience ever at this store, and the manager (or assistant manager) was extremely rude to me, my co-worker, and my consumers.I work with a company called Strawberry Fields. Under this company, I am a direct support professional that takes care of individuals with disabilities. Due to the nature of this organization, company credit cards and all spending is considered tax exempt. Our tax exempt card is through Walmart, BUT it can be used at any grocery store. All grocery stores must accept this tax except card.My co-worker and I took our consumers grocery shopping. During check out, I explained to the very nice cashier that we were tax exempt and handed her the card. I explained that while the card does say “Walmart”, it is accepted and to be used at all grocery stores.One of the managers came over and told me that she didn’t even think the tax exempt card was real…when we have shopped at this specific Giant multiple times; with that very same card. She then proceeded to take the card back to another manager. When he came out, he was extremely rude, belittling, and verbally aggressive. He stated that he would not except this, it doesn’t work at this store, that it wasn’t real, he wasn’t going to try and find it in the system, and that they have never accepted tax exempt cards from my company.I proceeded to explain to him that it was in fact real. We have been there multiple times with this same card, and that I am required to used this when shopping. He then proceeded to tell me that he was going to make sure no other cashiers would ever accept this tax exempt card again from Strawberry Fields. He stated that he was going to have a training session and meeting with his staff to deliberately make it so we cannot use our tax exempt card at this store.At this point I had become obviously very upset and was crying. He also upset my consumers, causing them to cry as well. He then proceeded to say, “we have never, and will never accept this tax exempt card. Whoever has been accepting this is wrong”. I explained to him once more that that was not the case. After that, him and the employees who witnessed the situation proceeded to stand at the customer service desk giving us dirty looks and Share further remarks on the situation.I have never experienced customer service as awful as this. Besides customer service, I have never been spoken to, or embarrassed like that in my life. By a grown man at that. I am extremely disappointed and disgusted with not only how I was treated tonight, how my coworker was treated tonight, and how upset he made one of my consumers.All around awful experience and blatant discrimination.

Friendly atmosphere and the seafood dept. Is top shelf.

Great prices and the reward points are helpful. The app isnt quite as nice as other stores, but you can still scan as you shop for a quick and easy check out.

Giant is my go-to grocery store for most things. Well lit, clean, well stocked. Try it.

Tonight was horrible. No humans were working the registers and checkout was backed up. 4 office staff were just standing around watching customers flounder without offering to help!

Many locals probably arent aware, but many of the regional (PA and NY) GIANT locations were purchased by Weiss Markets years ago. I mention this due to many people still frequenting Weiss out of brand loyalty even though theyre both owned by the same corporate entity (akin to the existential Sheetz vs Wawa cultural divide). Other locations, notably those in Maryland are controlled separately AFAIK.I mention all of this due to GIANT providing superior shopping/pharmacy services IMO (in addition to timesaving Instacart/pharmacy delivery and curbside pickup). So unless you prefer the antiquated shopping atmosphere that Weiss provides, Id recommend switching to GIANT until theres a Wegmans or Trader Joes constructed on the south side of town, while knowing that youre not betraying your lifelong devotion to Weiss.Just dont abandon Meyers Dairy for your milk and frozen dairy needs, or well need to share some words 😤...

An expensive place to do grocery shopping doesnt make sense against Walmart. I wish they could get their price a little lower, but I understand their target customer isnt poor grad students! Stop by now and then for essentials

This store is great!!! There is a gentleman that bring in the carts, he is always in a joyful mood. Says hello to everyone and just makes my day every time I come here and he greets me. Store is very clean and well organized. The Chinese food is a great find give it a try and let me know if you agree.

Theyve a decent selection of most things.Sometimes the students raid the place; sometimes theres no ramen noodles.I got vaccinated here, it was an ok experience. They had the jansson one, so its one and done.Last winter, their ginger root was plump and desirable, albeit now (may2021) its a bit scrawny. There supply of carambolas (aka star fruit) is sometimes non-existent, and frequently moves around in location, which is a bit irksome.

I normally do not leave reviews unless they are bad. I had 621 points on my giant card. I went to redeem my free ham on my card which took 400 points of my balance valid from 11/20/2020-12/24/2020. I went to check out it didn’t give me the free ham. So it took 3 people to tell me it wasn’t valid until 12/27/2020 which by then my redeemed offer which took 400 points off my total would be expired. I’m sorry but this store really needs to educate their employees on the holiday offers. I could’ve easily used those points off gas but instead my 400 points just went to waste smh! The Grocery Pickup is honestly the way to go anymore.

This store is clean, organized and usually well stocked. The produce is great in this location and rotated regularly. The staff are always friendly and will go above and beyond to help find items that arent on the shelf. In a post COVID world a lot of stocking happens during open hours now so it can be difficult to navigate busier areas of the store while stocking is happening, this is only a minor issue though.

Always find a great deal each week. They also keep the self checkouts very clean by wiping them down after each customer. Info for anyone who is curious about their Covid measures.

This giant store used to be pretty good. However, my recent experiences are very bad. I always shop online and pick up my orders. Almost every time some items are missing especially products. Why is it so difficult for your staffs to find potatoes and tomatoes at the same time. Besides, almost every time some promotional items in the order are canceled. For example, if the store is running buy 2 ice creams and receive the third one for free, then very likely the third one is out of stock. You run your promotion like a joke. Giant staffs really should learn from Wegmans, Walmart and other stores. I will never visit you again.

Newer of the State College stores but seems smaller with less variety. The pharmacy staff is helpful. The parking lot can become very congested.

Fresh and delicious foods both fresh and dry/canned goods. Wonderful selection, clean store, and friendly/helpful staff. So happy for this addition on the South side of town.

More pasta available now. Golden beets looked great. Customers in general complying with guidelines though some still dont seem to realize mask is to cover mouth and nose. It does no good when it just covers chin.

Since moving locations, I have liked the service here a lot better than the location on North Atherton. People at this location, South Atherton, are friendly and willing to help instead of having an attitude. Plus, it’s a lot brighter and cleaner.

I love this store...clean, well organized and great staff! BUT....the Giant Direct offering is not ready for prime time....when I ordered the first available time was 2 days later. I ordered anyway (it was a test) and within a hour got a message that my order would not be available for 3 days...and I paid $2.95 for this service. I cancelled the order and went back to Walmart. Ill still shop this store...its great, but Giant Direct will hurt their business if not corrected quickly.

Giant recently moved their entire store from a small, out of the way shopping center to the much larger and way more accessible and easily visible Hills Shopping Plaza on South Atherton St.

This giant is ok. The one on North Atherton is a bit tidier and less busy.

Clean store that is well stocked and has a great food and produce selection. Pricing is very reasonable. There is a beer & wine section along with a hot foods bar. If you have a registered Bonus card you can use the scan & go option so your check out session goes quickly.

Well stocked store

Very cool new store at that location. Very open, well stocked, with good stuff. A little pricey in some things but good house brands. Regular interaction with staff, self check is avoided by us old people because we think it takes jobs and we dont like mechanical voices. Denise might start coming here because Walmart here is good but overrun and has a poor product selection for our purposes.

Disappointed with the elimination of some organic and/or natural items they used to sell, considering they probably doubled the size of the store since they moved to a new location. What?!!

Plenty of parking near the store entrance. Store is clean, well lighted.

Decent selection of groceries, mid range. They carry beer and wine also. Worst issue is the large, dangerous parking lot is built on an angle and carts run down hill frequently.

The new store is great and has lots of food and beer options. Of the three times I’ve been to the deli, the supervisors seemed friendly and efficient, but the other employees were very rude and ignored us — one even went out for a cigarette break after we had been waiting for over ten minutes. I hope it gets better!

Huge store with great selection. New beer and wine store, and Starbucks! Pharmacy, and also self checkout. Very nice newly redone building. Good seafood selection too including live muscles.

The new giant is great! The employees are nice and helpful, the shelves are stocked and the prices are great..it will take some time learning the layout, but I love grocery stores( I know I am a weirdo). The pharmacist is still the same ( Casey) and a great customer oriented person.

The new Giant on S. Atherton is nicer than the old Giant on E. College. They did an amazing job. The diary and deli lunch meats are all stored in the nice big fridges now. There is a Starbucks in there as you walk in. Clean atmosphere.

Their produce section sucks as there is always moldy fruits and vegetables. Their deli is good.

One lady at the bakery is very nice and helpful and the other needs FIRED NOW driving customers away from the bakery and inhibiting sales because of bad attitude.

Been here this morming around 9 AM, I was coming back to my car after shopping and there was this trolley man in the parking lot, he was keep murmuring himself something that hard to understand and suddenly said how are you today with irritated tone when I was passing by him, so I did greet back to him, then he suddenly yelled at me like I SAID HOW ARE YOU TODAY with aggressive attitude. Ive been shopping at Giant for decade and this was the most unplesant experience for me which I never expected at all.

This is a great store, but they need QUALITY control. I have bought expired/close to expired food here before and I am deeply disappointed. The product that comes into this store needs to be checked for the expiration date. I am sick of buying and consuming food that is old. I dont want to pay for that.

The State College Giant Store recently moved to its current location on South Atherton Street. Its a great store but definitely suffering growing pains since the move. An example is the Deli Department definitely has gone down hill with the move.

Grabbed a few groceries, then a coffee to sit in the cafe & do some work & the bathroom is all the way at the other end of the store from the cafe. Not terrible but annoying. Store is great & I do love that they have a cafe!

Its a grocery store, and a pretty good one at that. It has kind of ended up being the metric by which all other grocery stores have been measured.

Really have enjoyed have Gaint in the neighborhood this past 6 months the Starbucks make it very convenient for me not to have to drive in to State college every morning... And the bakery, deli, and staff are always pleasant

This is a great grocery store! Lots of weekly deals, free snacks for kids, friendly customer service, and lots of modern grocery services you expect such as pickup and scan and go. The in-store Starbucks with in-cart cupholders is a bonus!

This is a very nice, clean, HUGE Giant store. They have a decent beer and wine section, delicious Chinese takeout (try the meatballs, yum! Yes, they are a sweet n sour flavor!) and plenty of everything else. Very clean, but its brand new. The only negative is that when you enter at the light across from Sheetz and the pizza place, that first turn immediately after the light is SO TIGHT, there will be accidents there for sure. People come screaming off of Atherton, make that hairpin turn and folks are leaving the parking lot, too.

Fancy new Giant lives up to the hype! Kombucha on tap, Americanized Chinese food in the prepared foods section, and a robot named Marty! Theres also a nice eating area thats well kept with tons of outlets.

I dont like the new giant at ollies. Too far to travel. Twice now I havent gotten my bonus gas points. Also was to get a free chicken. Didnt happen. Going through the full service lines you have to bag your own groceries so you dont have time to watch the register to make sure its correct. I want my old giant back!!

If I could give this store a -10 I would. This store is EVIL. This store has forced out the flower tent and now is forcing the Amish market in the parking lot to close as well. I will NEVER shop at a store that is so greedy it will prey on hard working Amish people! Disgusting!

Unfortunate that the owner of Hills Plaza decided to kick out the amish market, but this store makes up for it. Has a large amount of self scans, which is quicker when there is a lot of people at regular checkout lanes.
