Paul and Shannon asked us to wait, which told me theyd look at it right away and tell us whats wrong, this without an appointment. Best car repair experience we ever had. Knowledgeable to the max. If there were more stars, theyd deserve them. They tow.
Paul and his team are very knowledgeable & honest. He is the only mechanic that I have fully trusted. I now use surprise auto for all my vehicles. They also gave me the best deal in town on tires. Im so grateful we found this place & more than happy to support a locally owned business!
I received excellent service from Nikki at the front desk, and from David who carefully looked over a 2005 Ford Escape that I was considering for purchase. David’s estimate of the needed repairs helped me avoid a bad decision (I decided not to purchase the 2005 Escape), and Nikki’s professional and friendly serviced helped me want to keep coming back to Wilhelm Automotive in Surprise in the future!Thank you, Tom Bain, a satisfied customer.
Prolly one of the worse car auto shops in surprise.... asked them to fix one thing ended up with 5 more problems. I do not recommend even to ever get business done here, high prices they charge & do not complete the job...
Total scam artist. Did nothing he said he would do, bait n switch. Wife lures you in on phone then husband does opposite of what she promised. Then he does damage to the vehicle before I pick it up. I have pics of ground where truck was parked everyday before I took it to him for electrical diagnostic which wife said he could do for a quoted price. Next day he wants more money for diagnostic that he has not done, but says he found all kinds of leaks he was not even asked to look for because none existed. Wife is conveniently not available to verify what we discussed the day before, and hes aggressive and acting like a meth addict. When I pick it up from his shop, its leaking profusely. I took pics of ground where it sits after picking it up. Stay far away.
The same as others have said. If only there was a negative 5 stars. Worst experience I have had in a long, long time. Lured in on phone for simple repair. Walked in and had a 40 second not knowledgeable conversation about the problem. I had red flags instantly, my car disappeared, and I started getting worried imagining it was somewhere and I imagined people going through my stuff. When I asked to go back and discuss the problem, got the instant no because of insurance and the door slammed in my face. When he came back and I said this is completely inappropriate and I want to see my car now, he instantly threatened to call the cops and disappeared again out the back (which I almost did at that point). I ended up sprinting around the building trying to find my car and still had to argue to get it out of their building. Couldnt leave fast enough. Not professional looking, acting, talking, or anything. DONT EVER GO THERE. I wish I had read the other similar reviews first.
I absolutely love the service! VERY FRIENDLY staff and reasonable cost! I WILL REFER All MY FAMILY & Friends.
I have been bringing all my vehicles for 8 years. Have always been treated with honesty and respect. The French Bulldogs are a bonus.
I recommend this place. Paul is an excellent, knowledgeable, and experienced mechanic. I have taken two of my vehicles there and the service is A+. First time was for an R134 conversion and recharge, and he didnt try and blow smoke and say my vehicle had a leak (which is a red flag to me when anyone tries to tell you that on an old car) Conversion was perfect and my air was ARCTIC. A few months later the compressor failed. It was spendy, mostly because of the part, but a fair price on the labor. A few months later the replacement failed, they replaced it no questions asked. Then I tried to be an AC Pro and recharge my other vehicle myself, and it didnt go well. Brought it to Paul and he had it fixed up in no time. He also told me I had some other things he observed wrong which I wasnt so sure about and I got a 2nd opinion. Everything he listed was a problem I didnt find yet. Ill always bring my vehicles here as long as Paul still works there.
Ive been taking my vehicles to Paul since he was repairing vehicles out of his home in Surprise. I have found him to be extremely knowledgeable, fair, honest, and competent. Even though his shop is almost twenty miles from my house, I will never take my truck anywhere else for repairs. Dude is legit....
Absolutely superb customer service. Was in AZ planning my wedding when my car broke down. Its a 26 hour drive from Calgary, AB, Canada. So, I cant blame the car. They had it fixed up and ready to go a day later. Even gave us a break when we enevitably could barely afford to fix it. (apparently road trips are more expensive then I thought)Definitely recommend to anyone in need of a mechanic.Tow truck driver was a great conversation too, everyone was friendly.
NEGATIVE 10 STARS !!I brought my 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 to Surprise auto repair, what a mistake, I was going out of town for ten days only to find out when I got back it was NOT completed. I brought it in for a slight noise in the engine I couldnt figure out. Paul showed me the problem, I gave the go ahead to continue the work. I got the vehicle back about two months later, took it for a drive home and no noise. The vehicle sat for two weeks then two hours into a trip I had to pull over because it was overheating. Much to my surprise there was no antifreeze in the motor. I was in an unfamiliar town on a holiday and nothing was open and now without a vehicle and had a sick mom with me. The owner of a oil change place helped me out, we tested and there was no leaks for the antifreeze to leak out and the thermostat wouldnt open. I paid him to change the thermostat out (the new one I put in three months prior had a piece of rubber wedged in it ) and add antifreeze in a parking lot in the rain. The rubber piece could of only came from the work Paul did, OH and while checking out the vehicle we noticed they had never replaced my power steering pump cap and the noise was back, we finished up our trip driving as little as possible. I brought it back to Surprise Auto thinking this would be covered under warranty, and left it for Paul to look at. After a week of not hearing anything i went to check on it and was told nothing got done because he had to let his guy go and he was to slow and he had to redo a lot of his work. I was hoping he didnt work on my vehicle, Paul promised me he didnt. after two weeks got he didnt have time to look at it. After five weeks he had it apart and said it wasnt the same noise and showed me how the previous issue was still good, progress. On the sixth week more excuses of I got busy and haven’t looked at it. At the 2 months he found the issue, the timing chain was loose, after he reinstalled them they are now tight, working good. This means they were not installed properly, however he went on to tell me my battery was weak and needed to be replaced. Four weeks later it was finally complete he says but wont start without a new battery. I went to pick it up and they told me I owed more money. He blamed it on the original issue, then went on to say it’s just old. He had the nerve to tell me to drive it till it dies or get a new vehicle. I paid it to get my truck away from this place but they couldnt get it started, so I went in the back, got it started and barely got it home, the check engine light was on which they claimed was from the battery. I hooked up my reader and came up with eight codes, found 13 wire harnesses unplugged, loose bolts, missing bolts, the valve cove was not even screwed down, oil was low. This place took me for over $ 1000 dollars and months without a vehicle, Surprise Auto its in the name SURPRISE
Paul is the best auto mechanic you will find (especially for Nissans)...always tells you how it really is, his team does exceptional work and you wont find a better price for any parts/labor in the West Valley.
My wife and I had a great experience with Surprise Auto. Very knowledgeable and extremely friendly. We were well takin care of. They fixed our vehilce with great prices. Im happy to have found a shop that my wife and I can Trust. Thank You Paul and the Team at Surpise Auto
Been going to this shop for years now alway had good service and the prices are right. They worked me in on the day I called Saturday 5-20 and most other mechanics are closed.
Ill just say that these guys cost me a lot of money. Never were rude to me, but cost me just over a couple grand and a couple months without my vehicle total. Had another shop pick it up when they said they couldnt fix it (and yet Id already paid and brought the vehicle back to them, in hopes theyd make it right.) in the end had to pay ANOTHER couple grand to a different place who fixed my problem. I dont do reviews on-line usually, because I know everybody gets a different experience, but I cant in good faith not say anything about this place. Seems unwise to ever trust in this business. Seem to not know what theyre doing and are dishonest with it. But at least they werent directly rude.... ....I guess.
!!!~~~ If only there was a Negative 5 stars~~~!!!!I needed a front wheel bearing replaced on my GMC Envoy, quoted $248 over the phone so I drove it in and left it with them. When I come back to pick it up the VEHICLE NO LONGER RAN AT ALL....The fuel pump failed as the mechanic was backing it out of the shop and the truck no longer runs according to them. Quoted another $800 to replace fuel pump. RED FLAG!! The truck was left in their care and what would the odds be that the fuel pump goes out in the 2 minutes he was driving it? I never had any starting, performance or any other problem? I did drive it in, they did drive it into the shop... Let me tell you that the odds are ASTRONOMICAL and UNBELEIVABLE.*** see UPDATE!! below ***I told them I was not paying for the repair, 3x they offered a TITLE LOAN company that would finance the repair..... HMMMM? I told them having the money is not the issue, - PAYING FOR DAMAGES CAUSED BY THEM IS.I was not going to allow them to touch another thing and told them to push it out of the shop so I can have it picked up. The cocky little shop manager asked where I was taking it to - I told him none of your business, - he seemed surprised and maybe even a bit mad about me not going ahead with the repair. Then went on to insulting say that you just dont understand cars and mechanics I let him know that a wheel bearing is really a simple repair I could have done myself and now I got a vehicle that does not run. His reply?? (As he walked out the door back into the shop).... So why didnt you do it yourself.ANSWER: Because I had the day off from MAKING AN HONEST LIVING and wanted to spend the time with my family rather doing mechanical work, because I wanted to do business with a local small business and put an American to work. Because I hoped to find an honest mechanic that stands by there work.Call to the owner was not returned = taking them to court now :-(STAY AWAYUPDATE! = The fuel pump failure was caused by defective work by the mechanic. He failed to re-tighten a bolt that was taken off for the repair. This bolt held a ground wire which caused the fuel pump to have an electronic short condition. This is why the fuel pump failed as the mechanic was backing the truck out of his shop.Completely their mistake but they refuse to stand by their work - or lack of it in this case.
They were very good they took care of me if I would recommend I mechanic place this would be the place!!!
Great job!!! See you next time.
Very fair and good work
Fast service
Caught them putting on used parts and charging for new ones
