Easily the worst thrift store I’ve ever shopped in as a plus size person. The normal divisions of womens clothes (dresses, pants, jeans, etc.) stop at XL/14 with all larger sizes moved to another section confusingly titled “women’s world” with no other indicator that it’s the plus size section. In this section, all the sizes and styles are jumbled together in an attempt to sort by color. It’s low key humiliating to have everything my size separated out, and then to make it worse it isn’t even done for my convenience since I now have to check *every* top and pair of pants for their size. Apparently the workers at this store think all plus size women can fit every size from a 16-30+. Notably, no other section is so absurdly ordered. Instead those sections are logically divided by item type, then size, then color. But not for plus women, we get a scavenger hunt to find any item. Strongly do not recommend.
Nice and clean, well organized. There is clothing for adults and kids, housewares, books.... Even some name brands.
Absolutely love this place! They work so hard and do such a great job making sure the store is clean and organized. Ive found some of my favorite garments here and prices are fantastic!
Good quality great deals ... friendly cute employees
My son and I love thrifting! We have been here many times and it’s always clean and organized. Today was extra special. The beautiful woman who helped us and was our cashier literally made our day! She helped my son dig through the stuffed animals and made us feel so loved. We will make sure to come back soon!
Great place... nice items, some priced high for Topeka but the sales help. Recommend!
Stopped going for years, but now under New Management its the first place I look to go, clean, racks are organized, the women are friendly, nice and are willing to help you at any time, they carry better brand of clothes from the last time I was there, very impressed..I highly recommend looking here if you want good prices...The Ladys there are Awesome
Experienced and knowledgeable staff. Very helpful and polite.
Seems like I can always find an item that is just right for me.
The ladies there were nice and helpful, and thats saying alot. I am not a patient person. I have high expectations and they made my visit pleasant
The greatest hidden gem in Topeka! Yall, I get compliments ALL THE TIME on my clothes. As soon as I tell them my outfit came from Maj-R-Thrift, their jaws drop and they cant believe it! Selection for DAYS on clothes for the whole family, and always a great quality. And I have never been able to NOT revamp or fix the minor flaws of some pieces, whether it be stained, loose thread or something else..! More than just clothes tho! Everyday amazing deals on books, shoes, furniture, bedding, housewares and more! And the employees are top notch, and will help you at the drop of a hat! Stop by and see for yourself! And dont let the looks of it fool you - it might be a little older and not so pretty to look at, but its one hell of a rare gem inside..!
The items in the store were organized, easy to find; and the staff was very helpful and friendly. Very nice store!
I went for the New year sale and my stepdaughter and I spent some quality time looking at things and we both were happy with our bag of goodies for less than $20 for both of us.
Weve been shopping at this store for years. My husband and I spend hrs in thrift and antique stores. This store has new things to see weekly. My only complaint is the prices have gone up on items and its so significant we dont buy. But I dont think I have ever left empty handed and I love the fact that I get to spend time with my husband and he is actually enjoying shopping!! Also new management has been wonderful. Doing a great job and making customer s feel comfortable 👍
The store is neat and items for sale are very well organized. I like this color coded price tags that make it easy to find (even more) discounted items on the day of the week that you visit the store. I always find great bargains while browsing the large variety of things you may need ventory at our MAJ-R Thrift!
This is my favorite thrift store. Staff is always friendly and efficient. There is always a good variety of inventory.
Sweet little thrift store with a great selection of womens and childrens clothes, shoes and accessories. The mens dept is a little lean but still has several full racks of shirts, shorts, jeans and pants. They also have books, kitchenware, jewelry and a small section of tools and hardware. The prices are budget-friendly, the employees are nice and the store is well-maintained.
Lots of clothes well organized, good prices.
Most of the time I would rate it a five but it just wasnt the same today being Saturday, they didnt seem as helpful and nobody was very nice.
Love the workers and merchandise ❣❣❣
I like the guy named Cody that works there.
It genuinely breaks my heart to post a one star review for this place. I have been shopping here since it opened. My son and I went today to look for some books for him, we do this pretty often no big deal. Except today the lady working didn’t have her mask on. I get that some people really struggle to wear them but at the same time you’re supposed to wear them. Hers was hanging from a lanyard around her neck. What’s the point in a sign mandating masks if the employees aren’t going to wear theirs?
You need MORE CARTS! After waiting for 5 min I was forced to just check out with my arm load bc I couldnt carry anymore around. Super bummed..... Ill prob be going back today. But more carts would be fantastic!
A great place to shop for furniture. Clothing, appliances and so much more. Donation drop off.
This is my current favorite place to find used things. Its pretty clean, well organized & the staff is friendly
I bought a chair and it wouldnt fit in my car. Jenny, Leanna, and Dennis all helped me put it on top of my car. They were all super helpful and I couldnt have done it without them
Great prices on a large and ever changing variety of quality second hand clothing, household products, electronics, toys, books, jewelry, accessories, and more! Friendly, helpful staff. Military/Veterans discount, & a reward system that gives you coupons for checking in with your phone number on a tablet at the store upon arriving. Thank you!
Nice place good thrift store
Walked in the store was big got to the pricing it was way to expensive but I was willing to spend $0.99 on 16 baby items. Still willing to give the store a try I get to the checkout and god was the cashier rude. On the reciept it says served by Alexis. First she tells us the DVD was not out of the cart after telling her it was she again says no we say yes and point to the cart she puts the DVD down and says whatever. I asked her if the store was locally owned or franchised she rolls her eyes takes a deep breath and says i dont know. Thats fine if she doesnt know but her attitude was crazy rude. She didnt smile, be nice, or even say thank you! Im blown away. Im a thrift shop junkie and love thrift shops but that lady made my family experience a nightmare.I will never shop there again when I visit. This was my first experience and a very disappointing one at that.
Hi went looking for a mixer for my kitchen and I found everything I needed easily
I like this place here.I find all my crafts stuff here,my shirts and pants here, and my grandkids toys and books, but still looking for a bookshelf for crafts and books!
Super cheap clothes !!
They have a great selection and the ladys were very helpful
Of the several second hand stores in Topeka this has always been my personal favorite. I always find really good quality clothes for men in my size for good prices. every time Ive been in the employees have been super nice. There are plenty of changing rooms to try stuff on.
Well they get everything they sell donated to them. And my problem is they are overpriced they have a high quality section in front of store and behind jewelry counter. And I feel if it is donated to them why are they selling brand names for $50- $75 jeans. It was a blessing to them to get it donated so the people that donated it Im sure was hoping to give the customers a blessing too be able to wear brand names since most of the customers are poverty level. Otherwise why the hell would u even have a store like that? What is the purpose? And the purses they are trying to sell knock offs for $50. Its just ridiculous to me. The jewelry is awesome and priced very reasonable. Staff is ok. I am disabled and live on fixed income definitely poverty level. I guess I hoped I would be able to get more nice clothes there to fit my budget than if I go to other department stores. which they do have a clothes selection that is out of this world. But its the prices u have to be willing to pay. I feel its no different than any department store I still have the same amount of items I can afford in my cart which isnt much when I go to check out.
Prices are very high for being a thirft store. Bad customer service. The cashier didnt smile once, she looked miserable.
The values in used clothing are good. Most everything is of reasonable quality and clean. All in all a decent place to shop if your looking for used and second hand goods. Staff is always helpful.
Its obvious that management at Major Thrift is no longer thrifty. Used wallets are priced at $4-to $29. even though they are faded and showing age. Womens blouses and pants are $6. and up past $10.Pillow cases are priced by design patterns and colors, rather than just one price. The merchandise is given to Major. The managing price Nazi there has made sure it isnt a charitable business, but a total rip-off. The prices have spiked quite rapidly in the last several years. This store is so pricey.Dont buy at Major Thrift. It isnt worth it. Youre just helping the owner line his pockets $$$ He doesnt care about poor people or people on budgets. Hes a crafty over-pricer.
Very uncomfortable to shop there. Singling out certain customers and assuming they are going to get robbed or something. Its happened to me and Ive seen its happen. They are not very positive rw representative of the salvation army especially the gentleman manager and lady with the coloured hair. Very rude. Wee have already called headquarters and our local community business administration
I love the store, but I also happen to work there. And believe me, we try our best to keep up with the crowd. As far as keeping the store clean and free of junk. Im proud of where I work and would still rate it the same if I wasnt employed by them. I still spend hours shopping when I go in on my days off. You can never see everything.
The upside is that the store is VERY organized! Color coated AND size separation. Downside...this store is way too expensive for being a thrift. I came across a no boundaries brand shirt with a grease stain for $8.00.....
Enormous selection of clothing. Prices are kinda all over the place and employees have a kinda vibe but its well worth a visit.
Havent been here in years but its pretty rad.
Absolutely love this store. Every time I go I find something I didnt know I needed. Great selection, helpful staff and priced right.
I can always find a good bargain and there is a great variety of items to choose from.
Very nice store huge selection decent pricing staff is very knowledgeable and willing to Hill you dont have to go to looking for a staff member to find out usually they come to you asking can I help you parking is plentiful and accommodates for handicap and wheelchair accessible restrooms and store are clean and tidy items in-store are fairly priced, easy to sign location wonderful return policy all over great experience. Would recommend anyone to the store.
One of my favorite thrift stores to shop at!! Employees are always helpful! Always feel like Im going to find something rad!
Great store was yeasterday
Shopped here for the first time recently (beginning of February 2018). Lots of selection for fairly cheap, like 99 cent hardcover books, 25 cent paperbacks. However, the no return policy is a bit of a turn-off for me; for example, if I purchase something as a gift then find out the intended recepiant already has it, then Im out of luck.
Always a great selection of mens clothing.
Always find something I need or just want.
The prices are ridiculous. They do not buy any items but price them as though they do. Pricing is extremely inconsistent and Danny is rude as hell. They have some nice items but they arent serving the community that supports them-the frugal. Its a THRIFT store, it should be affordable. Also in a customer service position...dont be rude to those who keep your business thriving. You approach us with respect or mind your business.
Best ever!
I have found a couple of decent pieces of furniture there but it was a total fluke. Most of the house ware item are pretty shabby and the clothing has always been a total bust for me. I agree with the others who have said the clothing prices are way too high for something that has been worn, shrunk and is from Walmart to begin with.
They have a lot of things to buy
I’m sitting here waiting for them to open. It is 9:16 and they are supposed to open at 9. No one is answering the phone either. Extremely unprofessional way to run a business.
They are all very nice and have always helped me when I donate items or buy items from them. Their manager Danny has always been great and has helped me by telling me what they take and he has always helped unload my truck when I donate. Again thanks. Pastor Roylee Knowles
Had great sale for 4th of July
As a thrift store reselling mostly donated items, this store is reasonably clean and surprisingly well organized, at least when it comes to clothing. The prices seem a bit high, but there are discounts most days that make it more reasonable, if not a bit confusing. Donations help fund Ozanam which helps kids with various difficulties, but honestly the biggest service to the community is in providing a mechanism to redistribute unwanted goods to those who can use them.
The person at the register, was checking out about 630p, was amazing!! I would like to see more of her in the store. Kudos to Jodi, she deserves to be recognized for same!!!
I love this store! The clothing I find is great quality! Cant beat the price...especially on 50% off days!
Most staff were eager to work and were helpful, most establishments have one bad apple. Great priced, name brand clothing, make it worth the time and effort. Its fun for me.
Variety of products very reasonably priced. Can try on clothes before you purchase them. Well organized and clearly marked sections.
Prices seemed a little high
Great selection of reasonably priced, quality clothes. Lots of new items added daily. Great store to shop!
Everything seemed expensive, I can find better prices in clearance sections at the mall. On a Saturday I couldnt find a color tag on sale. Only the Christmas items were half off, but way too expensive for used goods.
I have gotten name brands either new or gently used for years now. There is always something new and at huge discounted prices. The main manager is a tad moody, but the stop is still worth your time and $$$.
Everything is pretty overpriced. The store is cluttered because things arent selling quickly enough. Used to find good deals here... Not so much anymore.
Clothes were mismarked and it was very hard to find the correct size.
One of my good friends has worked at this store for awhile now, she does a super amazing job at her job! Great cloths selection, always have some sort of sale going on!
Terrible service, and appalling treatment. Danny is the manager who is quite mouthy, and unprofessional. Hes brave enough to make a comment, but not brave enough to stand there after he makes his rude comment. If you ring the bell they complain like youre not there about the bell being rang. Calling them out on their comments about a bell with a sign that says to ring it will prompt the manager to make his rude comment, then run off. If you contact John Garrison he may return an email, but dont expect a call. The store is dirty, and the items are filthy. Take your money elsewhere. Youll be happier in the end
Filthy place and way over priced. Thought I got a great deal on a 50% off day until I realized I also brought fleas home. Disgusting.
Went to this place several times and got a bunch of used recorded VHS tapes (most of which were from Kansas City). Prime nostalgia material. Not sure if this place has them anymore, however (I havent found any of them from other MAJ-R Thrift stores near the KC Metro).
Never know what you will find, customer service varies day to day
I LOVE the Topeka store. There are so many good and clean items. The prices are great.
I loved getting all I got there.prices we were great.
I love this place. They offer the most amazing choices in clothes for the whole family.
5 STARS. Never know what you might find. Always great customer service. ty
Over priced, no restrooms . I hate it. And a real winner of a manager.
Awesome stuff and prices but not the cleanest and no public restroom.
The prices could have been better, and no bathroom access.
Amazing people
Lots of women and men clothing arranges from dishes purses furniture and much more.. prices are pretty reasonable some i believe to be a high but all in all i really going here
A bit overpriced. But I enjoy going here with my daughters. Something new all the time. And sometimes u get some good buys. The staff Are real cool.. The manager Danny for the most part is nice he chats. And is helpful.for some ppl he seems rude.and may run them the wrong way. But honestly Hes a great guy! Very proffesional. like to look and shop every chance I get. My aunt gramma shop often here too.
Good shopping experience their prices are too high for a thrift store
This for profit retail store sells donated items at high prices. Way too high to be called a thrift store. Dont waste your time!
Whats the time you can find what you need and get good selection
Giant garage sale with an effort made for organization and its pretty clean.
Always good to look there first! They have a good selections.
This thrift store has lots to choose from. Give it a try! You wont be disappointed! 😊
Something new every visit, and affordable clothes makes this place a never ending garage sale store
Its a great place to shop, they have good stuff for a low price, my 18 yr old and I go all the time, even when we dont have any money.
I used to love coming in this place, then I started noticing the jacked up prices and the broken merch...
Best thrift store pricing in town. Im taking all donations here in the future.
Some things are way over priced but not everything. Good selection.
I Always find something interesting to buy ... plenty of room to move around and shop.
They dont offer public restrooms. Stuff is mostly garbage, however if you spend time looking you may find something good.
I hit the jackpot today!!!12 pieces of clothing and a great lamp shade...and with my rewards saved $15.60 :-)
Major Thrift is just a good store its a resale store but its a good store sometime the prices are a little high but as usual the people are nice and you can always find a good deal when you purchase the Color of the day normally its three colors to at 50% and 1 at 75% off and then they also have it where you can add up points and get a free purchase or free item you will have to pay for so if a good store when you live on a budget like most of us thats not related to Donald Trump LOL
Some things are over priced. Broken things are being sold for 6 dollars. Some staff are rude, but I had a great experience with one staff member.
