One of my go-to lunch spots! The sushi and bento boxes are great! Ima try the soft shell crab burger next! Lots of great food, you gotta check it out!
It was difficult to read the product however it was a great experience with my daughter. I had to ask a clerk a question and she was super friendly. We also bought an ice cream for snack called Frozen Wafer Sandwich, strawberry flavored. Absolutely delicious! We bought a few other items that were familiar by sight but all in all, we loved it! Well be back
Great news Japanese market. Bigger aisles then other markets, thus less crowded. Not huge but still had all of the necessities. Great experience.
Their ready made food especially their sushi are excellent. Way better than many other places.
This place is a go-to for excellent produce and Japanese foods. Very friendly and helpful staff as well!
Not as much selection as the other Japanese markets, but the prices are definitely better. Can still find a decent amount of Japamese snacks to satisfy my needs.
If youre looking for anything Japanese food wise youll find it here. Prices are reasonable.
Good quality and fresh fish. Dependable source of beef and pork.
Good Japanese grocery. Plenty of choices, clean, and never too crowded. Plenty of parking spaces around. I tried their sushi and it is also very fresh and tasty.
Standard prices with quality Japanese goods. Great variety in selections as well!
There are the Big 3 of Japanese markets in Socal: Mitsuwa which veers toward a higher end feel by having more exclusive satellite stores at their flag ship store in Torrance. Tokyo Central née Marukai main store in Gardena has concessions for Japanese fast food. Nijiya market chain is the most similar to Seiwa in that it is more like a traditional, standard supermarket.Located on busy, wide Hawthorne Boulevard, Seiwa has a good stock of Japanese food items. Ready made Bentos, Nigiri Sushi & more traditional style rolls as well as Inari Sushi/footballs made of texturized soy bean braised in sweet Sho-yu/soy sauce. Onigiri (oh (nee ghee ree)/rice balls are also an option. Its late August, and what attracted my nose was the Honey Dew melon with orange flesh that exuded such a compelling deep ripe, sweet, flowery perfume that I couldnt resist buying the pale whitish orange orb. This melon went absolutely well with Prosciuto di Parma symbolizing the crescendoing harvest that marks the end of summer.Prices here are a bit higher than Tokyo Central, but people living in the more western & southern end of the South Bay will find it convenient in terms of saving time & gas. Another nice option for accessIng East Asian foodstuff & culinary options
Great unique products. Fantastic service
This is like a mini Mitsuwa. I bought bentos for $4.99 but because it was the end of the night, they knocked off a buck. Awesome!
I got the oyako don bowl and sushi from here and it was amazing! Also received good customer service from the people stocking the shelves.
Very Friendly & Welcoming. Amazing prices, quality & variety.
Im SO excited to have found this place. Theres some items in here that I havent been able to find since I came back from Japan 5 years ago. Even the door into the place is more like the automatic doors in Japan 😂 I love it and I cant wait to go back
Clean quiet fun shopping experiencr
Friendly employees the produce is very fresh the store is very clean and organized I like shopping here
Great selection of products. Friendly and helpful staff. We will be going back.
I have been to this market many times before buying the same items Bento boxes and Sushi rolls on pre-made section. Yesterday after eating the Sushi roll, just hours after, I developed a sever case of stomach ache that I had to call sick for work. Id still shop here but Siewa market needs to tighten up QA on these food items so no one will get sick like I did.
Seiwa is a great family-owned-feeling Japanese grocery store, that has some fantastic cooked food as well. Fresh produce is always eye-popping, and the folks that work there are always happy to assist.Definitely worth making the trip of you need anything you cant find anywhere else, but even as a regular grocery shop you cant go wrong.
Not really the best Japanese store around. There was practically no meat section, aside from the end of one aisle or frozen. The prices arent even the lowest I have seen. I did like their large selection in instant noodle though.
A very good Japanese Supermarket / grocery store. Lately I only buy Bento boxes for lunch or dinner there but they have a good variety of generously proportioned, high quality options and the prices are impressively reasonable
Fair price, small with lots of products. Try the sardines.
Beats all other japanese markets like nijiya, marukai, Tokyo central, etc in value. Only wish it had more locations. Parking lot is plentiful. Employees are all courteous.
I gave a one star because today I found out that this grocery store sell expired Pocky chocolate (two months past expiration date). They also marked down products that is expired the day I visited. Its unforgivable, to me personally, because the expiring item that marked on sales was a snack for children. Attached picture for proof. Its not unusual for supermarket to put items that are about to expired with lower price, but the supermarket usually put them at a special area, not on the regular shelf.I will not buy anything from this supermarket because I dont want to check the expiration date on each item I want from there. Its an unnecessary burden.
Ok Im a HUGE Otaku (and for those of you who dont know what that means, its just slang for someone who REALLY likes Japanese culture), and this place is amazing. The prices are great and they make fresh Yakisoba, Sushi, and bento. I was going to take a video but my phone was acting up. Im definitely coming back here when I have money.
Very clean and had a great variety of groceries
I didnt think the selection was impressive here at all compared to Tokyo Market or Mitsuwa.
You can buy prepared sushi or beef bowl to order.
Love this place! Great prices and selection of Japanese food.
Love this place. Very friendly staff. Great value on most products and they always have great sales.
The best cracks and candies and cookies
Cool authentic market, they have great stuff
Easy to find what we needed.
Things are a bit cheaper, they also have a lot of Korean items. The cashier kelvin was also really nice
It ok
Perfect place to stop by to pick up some good Japanese foods.
Great market with lots of products.
Very clean and has most of the staples need.
The snacks selection is fantastic. The ready to eat things are always on point. Top notch!!
Very clean market. Its not overly huge but big enough to have a wide variety of things. The snacks selection is fantastic. The ready to eat things are always on point. The coffee drinks are things you should collect in your fridge haha.
I wish they had more seafood. Nice clean store
Convenient less crowded Japanese grocery store.South Bay has the world largest Japanese community. That means you have multiple Japanese grocery stores in few mile radius. So things gets competitive.I am not sure what’s happening with Seiwa market. But it is always less crowded than other markets. You can find almost the same items as others and sometimes but cheaper. One of them main reasons I shop here is you almost never have to wait at the check out lane. It might not good for the business but great for consumers. And some items are less expensive than other markets. If you don’t care about expiration date, you might accidentally find a great deal there.
What makes this place so amazing is that it has a great variety of Japanese foods and ingredients AND they are cheap. Ive been to various Japanese markets, but Seiwa has been the one with the best prices thus far.Definitely worth your time.
This is a great little Asian market and they have a good selection for a very small store. I love to get their California roll. Its $4 and excellent. I always find what Im looking for here even though its not as large as a place like mitsiwa. I highly recommend it!
A little pricier than Tokyo Central, but usually less crowded and they have the the most friendly staff!
Love this local store...fully stocked asian products..Nice..
Found some nicely priced produce. They have limits on some types of products which I think is responsible.
Such a great market! They have an entire aisle of green tea and other Japanese drinks! The prices were really low. I got a box of green tea bags for $1.99 that sell for $6 everywhere else. Their Japanese candy and snack selection is huge and the prices arent marked up a ton like specialty stores. Its definitely worth a look. The cashiers were really friendly too.
Authentic Japanese grocery store! Even the workers are Japanese!
Highly recommend. Wendy is especially nice and very helpful. I love shopping here. They have a large selection of Matcha which I love. The fresh California rolls are delicious too. I will return soon. Thank you.
Love this place! Lots of great savory snacks.... And Japanese products.
Its a nice little grocery store, my only real complain would be; why are the shopping carts so small? But it has products that I surely havent seen in any other store...Oh! I almost forgot! You could heat up your bento box of you wanted to enjoy it the moment you buy one, so that was pretty cool! I may not return there, but if you got the time, just go see it for yourself.
I was in the area and decided to stop in and grab something for an early dinner. The selection of bento was light but then again it was 3:30 in the afternoon. On the plus side it is a great grocery store that carries a nice selection of items from snack items and frozen foods to fresh produce.
Nice, clean store, good food temperature management (sanitary cold air all over in the store for food safety). Bathroom was clean and stocked well. Sale items were easy to find, and special low price for expiring and expired items. I went there with shopping list but end up slightly more with special findings. Also, items from Gyomu super were excellent, just like the stores in Japan. Cashiers and all employees were polite and willing to help. Thank you, Seiwa team!
This is a very clean supermarket. Staff is very nice and efficient. Prices are good too. They have huge selections of what you need.
I like going to Seiwa first because their prices tend to be cheaper, especially if you like bulk frozen meats and fish. Service sized containers of various products. Markdowns on expired products.
Mitsuwa in Torrance has relocated to the Del Amo Shopping Center as of January 2020. Seiwa is an alternative to Mitsuwa and Nijiya.Seiwa has all the Japanese grocery essentials.
Good service.
This market is definitely one Im going back to..absolutely loved it.
I really enjoy their food court. Its small and cozy and a great place to get some work done. You can get comfort food like curries and tonkatsu and its usually much less crowded than your typical Starbucks or Coffeebean.
Great Japanese grocery! Just sometimes not fully stocked with quick foods: bento and rice ball. Would give 4.5 stars.
One of the Best Japanese Market has good choice of selections and one step closer to the core of Japans updated groceries. Not that real Tokyo selections but close enough, Yokohama may be? No disrespect (`∇`)HAHAHAAnyways they have most everythings of your needs in Japanese gourmet from fresh produce, sweets to alcoholics.PS, do not expect much of fresh organics there.
Very good selection if products worth the trip here one of my favorite markets
Really nice Japanese grocery store with really good prices beating the other local bigger Japanese stores. Always well stocked and really good selection of fresh fruits and veggies. They also sell good sushi and bentos at very low prices!
Best Japanese market in Orange County! Nice employees, great selection, fun to shop and discover Japanese food, soda, candy etc.
I prefer Costa Mesa location. Employees are more friendly and courteous.
Awesome selection in a store jam-packed with Japanese food and goods. Fresh sushi in the back. Prices, esp for fresh produce, are amazing. Definitely worth a visit!
Clean, well-organized, great prices and friendly staff. Excellent selection of produce and imported goods. Well worth a visit.
Small market. Some items are good value while others are as much as 3 times more expensive. Clean, plenty of parking. Convenient
Great Asian market with good quality fresh seafood at great prices. After 5:00PM they discount their prepackaged shashimi and sushi and other prepared foods...a great bargain. They also have a great variety of Sake and have great prices on our favorites. We love shopping here!
I love coming here for Japanese food and products. The prices are usually reasonable and certain items I purchase are cheaper than other stores.
Small but efficient Japanese market with some ready made food available for a quick bite!
Don’t take ebt
Wide selection and very helpful and friendly customer servise
You can buy some food items at the store. Its much smaller than other Japanese supermarkets in South Bay and Gardena. But they have cheaper prices. They also have discounted bento boxes and sushi in the evening.
Nice store..all kinds of goodies...quick neighborhood market
I love this Japanese grocery store and really loved that they had Aquarius drinks which we drank a lot in Japan.
Its okay...quality is for sure guaranteed but price too high...i like low-priced quality stores 😊
Excellent store ☺! I really like it. Sure wish there was one in Long Beach but the Torrance location is worth the drive.
Quite a nice selection of Japanese products available to purchase. I was so happy to see that they had onigiri
BEST FRUITS, Good quality, good price. Now they sell meat too, so food wise, its perfect. We still have to go to other supermarket since they dont have a lot of house products.
Fresh veggies and fruits 🍎 professional and kind employees. Excellent service and products.
Nice store I can buy large bags of my favorite Japanese likes here
Great selection of products. Yummi freshly made food and sushi.
I love everything i eating everything
If you havent seen a great deal well this is a gold mine at Seiwa Great prices And what a great Japanese market XMAN Approve👍
Good fresh sushi and pretty good grocery options.
The Story Goes that one of the owners of the original Marukai Market in the area got done wrong by his partner who sold the company to another company. One day when this owner went to work, he was told that he was fired. So then he got ticked off and created a rival supermarket. Now I dont know how true this story is, but its interesting nevertheless.
Fresh sushie and they are very helpful when you have questions
Let me start off with that the staff are always friendly, and this Japanese store boasts a wide selection of reasonably priced processed/frozen goods. Along with this, they have better quality vegetables than Ive seen at other nearby Japanese grocery stores. There are a few downsides, however, if you do decide to come here. The meat and produce sections here are relatively small, if you compare it to other places. The bento/pre-made food section is also very small, and will typically run out of food before 5:00pm. On the upside, however, the bento here is always fresh, and made daily on the spot, meaning there is no old food. They also offer 20% on non-frozen meats all day Friday. These pros do somewhat counter the cons, and is why I would recommend this place for your general groceries.
The prices are very comfortable for the customers. But we have to pay attentions to check the useful life of the items.
Love it they aleays have good deals!!
