We had a bad experience with Williams Transfer/United Moving. Ill concede that all service-based companies are having a hard time finding dependable workers right now, so Ill try and be as fair as possible with that in mind.We moved from Memphis to St. Louis in June. The gentleman who performed our walkthrough and prepared our quote was professional and helpful. The quoted price was higher than I expected, but we decided to go with them anyway because we figured United was a large, reputable company that would take good care of us.The real trouble started on the day of the move. There we were, all packed and ready to go when, at 8:30 am, I get a call informing me that we wont be moving that day after all. Apparently, Williams didnt have enough workers to perform the job. We had already arranged for childcare for the day, a hotel room for the evening, and doggie daycare in anticipation of a full day of packing. Instead, we had to scramble to move everything back a day. Ive asked repeatedly for some sort of compensation for the extra expenses we incurred, but Williams has ignored my requests despite initially promising to make it right.Anyway, they did show up the following day, and the moving team was ROUGH. They left significant scratches on my wood floors in three different places with their wheeled dollies, and they tracked crushed red berries all over my carpets. I followed behind them all day, trying to conceal scratches and clean carpets. We were told that our stuff would likely be delivered to St. Louis (only 4.5 hours away) within a couple of days. Once again, however, they didnt have enough workers to drive the truck and unload, so we ended up without our stuff for 9 days, having to crash at my in-laws the entire time with a dog and two young children, and essentially wasting the time that we were off work and planning to unpack/settle into our new house. Technically, however, Williams/United made their contractual delivery commitment so, again, we received no compensation. Even worse, the customer move coordinator spent most of the 9 days avoiding us and refusing to answer my calls, leaving us up in the air until the very few hours before the delivery arrived. The unload team (local to St. Louis) was actually fantastic, but the load team had damaged several pieces of our furniture, including our antique dining room set. The unload team was appalled at the way the trailer had been loaded -- we saw them pointing and shaking their heads multiple times as stuff came off the truck. I went through the claims process with United and received a settlement check for the damage, but it still doesnt excuse the all-around negligence exhibited by Williams and their loaders. In the end, I paid this company approximately $9000.00 out of my own pocket (and we did the packing ourselves and even moved several trailers of boxes on our own too), but the service was well below what we expected to receive.
Mr. Rick Harris came out to our home and did a walk through. walked through the whole house and gave us advise as to what we would need crated and what they would pack for us. I have moved several times in my life due to my husband being retired from the military. This move is in the top 3 smoothest moves we have had. We had a hick up the day of the move but Kim was quick to work it out for us. Great over all experience. You pay good money to move but it is BY FAR worth it.
Lovely people. I had someone come out and do a survey. What I paid for the move was a little under what I was quoted. I had a crew come out, pack and load. The driver that was delivering was delayed a day due to weather(Hurricane) but stayed in contact with me the entire time. Unloaded quickly. Overall wonderful people. If we ever move back I will be calling them.
My husband and I had moved from MS to Amarillo. We originally were set to move at the end January. Our home sold way faster than we thought it would. They moved our packing up to help get us out fast. Our items were stuck in limbo as we had to finished closing on our home in Tx. They worked with us to store our items until we were ready. Awesome packers, driver was fantastic and hands down great company. I highly recommend them
Day before the move and we found out that they had the date wrong when we called to verify. They basically said oh well, with the exception of being told I dont give a d*mn what you think (thanks alot Jeff). They never called to to verify dates (like they said they would do). Horrible company - avoid them!!!
Was quoted 4 men and a truck for $195 an hour. Only 3 people showed up from 9AM to 3:30PM and one went home, so I had 2 men from 3:30 to 6:30. Was charged for 4 for 91/2 hours. Their crew chief reported he had 4 which is a bald face lie. I never left them all day, actually me, my wife, daughter in law, and grandsons all were helping carry stuff to the truck. I just cant handle liars.
Would use again & recommend!! Great Job! Thank you!
Great company. Good employees. Everything went well with packing and move. Great communication. Highly recommend.
If you are looking for a mover, move on past Williams Moving and Storage!!!!! The problems started on my load date. They were supposed to arrive from 8-10 am and showed up almost 2 hrs late. Then the truck they sent was too small for our stuff, so they had to send another truck the next day, which delayed our leaving on our 5-day road trip to our new home. I was given a 7 day spread for delivery, and throughout the 7 days any time I wanted to check and see if there were any updates on the delivery date of my stuff, I had to call them. They always promised to call me one way or another but never did. Here we are at the end of my delivery window and they still cannot tell me when my stuff is going to arrive. No answers and no accountability whatsoever. And oh by the way, the stuff on the second truck that they loaded wont arrive until even later than the first! I was told at least Im not lying to you by Tammy, my moving coordinator. Yep, thats the standard this company runs on. Buyer beware!!!!Update: My stuff was delivered 8 days past the end date of the delivery window they gave me. So they had our stuff for a total of 22 days. They reimbursed us $100 per day for the 8 days they were late. When you are basically camping in your own home with just a few suitcases of stuff, you spend much more than $100/day. My husband had to buy clothes for work b/c he only brought a couple of days worth of work clothes with us; we had to buy plates/utensils to use to eat, we had to eat out a good bit because we didnt have pots/pans etc. We had planned for some of this knowing we had a delivery window, but 8 additional days was not acceptable.Note: I called the person who responded to my review and left a voicemail with my name and number. Never got a call back!
They loaded a truck up and scaled it at the Loves truck stop in Tupelo, MS. They also used an suv on top of the truck and laden weight to add more weight to it. This was so they can charge more, they charge based on weight and miles from my understanding. Do NOT use these crooks. I have photographic proof.
Williams Transfer/ United Van lines did an outstanding job for me during my recent move. The office staff was always happy to answer any question I might have. The driver (Byron) and his crew were friendly, courteous and careful. I had two small insignificant items that were broken, nothing of value was damaged in any way. It is easy for me to give them such a high recommendation....they earned it. If you choose this company for your move I am certain you will not be disappointed.
The employees are all professional and experienced. This is my third move in three states with Williams/United, and I would recommend them with flying colors. All of my moves with them have been flawless. I can’t say enough good things about the group! Very happy with moving experience!!
Consider this rating of 1 and the other lower rating immediately before mine. This is certainly not a coincidence. They convinced me to allow them to deliver a portion of my goods at a later date to help them with their costs. 6 months after the promised delivery date and my numerous threats to sue them they finally and very reluctantly delivered the rest of my items. In the future I would chose moving myself over having to use them again. How they continue to stay in business is amazing.
Buyer beware. I had Williams Moving and Storage perform a one day local move with packing. All went ok until the last piece was brought into the house. It was a $3500 stainless steel refrigerator. The movers shoved it through the door, gouging and denting 3 of the 4 doors.I was initially told it would be repaired. After multiple calls and emails for approximately 60 days I was told I opted out of the damage coverage on the agreement (I did not opt out) and would be reimbursed based on the weight (which was no where close to the damage incurred). As of today (100+ days) I am still getting stalled. My last moves with Two Guys and a Truck were much better and resulted in a much better experience. This has been awful and their responses/communication are terrible.
The people there r nice as can be especially a Mechanic named Greg. Thanks for yalls help
As I have never used a moving service before myself for my own household I am hired hand for this company and the office staff can be frustrating the driver I work for has had his fair share of problem with them as well i do agree that maybe William need to hire more office staff cause the work load is to high or more experienced customer friendly but me and my driver will always do everything within our power to make your transition easy and the less amount of stress as possible but remember we are all just human god bless have a great day
Williams Transfer & Storage handled 2 moves for us. Most recently they moved us from Jonesboro AR to Memphis. Previously they moved us from Tupelo MS to Savannah TN. They wereprompt, courteous and efficient during both moves. I would recommend Williams if you are looking for a good company to handle your move.
I highly recommend this company. What a great and easy transition they made for my family when moving from Kentucky to Tupelo, MS. United Van Lines picked up our furniture and delivered it to Williams in Tupelo. Once we arrived they were johnny on the spot. Unloaded and Unpacked! Very professional and friendly. Thank you Williams Transfer and Storage!
On the packing end of things, UVL did a great job!! On the delivery end, not so good. One guy spent more time on his phone than he did moving boxes and furniture. Boxes for the basements were carried to the 2nd floor. We found 2nd floor boxes in the basement. Beds were assembled very sloppily and my husband and I had to take the mattresses off and assemble the bed frames correctly. One bed, they didnt even put the wheels back on the frame. None of the mirrors were put back on the dressers like they said they would do. They just started putting boxes in the garage like they had to be finished by a certain hour. It was very frustrating. They were careful with the furniture but thats all the good I can say about them. 5 stars for the guys at the origin of the move. 2 stars for the delivery end.
Easy to book, great price, and an efficient, friendly team. We highly recommend WIlliams Transfer and Storage!
Great place to work, good people keep you moving
Still waiting for a response. They are poor at communication and will not tell me when my property will arrive. Basically they steal your stuff and don’t respond.
I contacted Mayflower in May to arrange an estimate for our move from TN to WA. After the estimate, we decided to choose Mayflower and they assigned us an agent, Tammy Green from Williams Transfer in Tupelo, MS to help us. She contacted me over the phone and explained the process and expressed that the sooner we sign the paperwork, the better since it would guarantee our moving dates in July. She was responsive to calls and emails during that process but once contract was signed and credit card information given, she seemed to never answer phone calls and respond to emails. The window of our delivery was July 4-11th. Our furniture was picked up on June 28th. I continued calling Tammy since I was concerned given we were approaching July 11th and that our furniture had not even left. Every time I called, her response was I don’t know in a rude, non-caring way. On my last conversation, I asked her if she knew where my belongings were, in a storage or back of a truck. I asked to speak to management to inform them that she was not doing her job. She mentioned that was foul language and hung up the phone. She NEVER once called to update me on the status. My furniture was finally loaded on July 25th and delivered Aug 2nd . Mayflower headquarters were surprised to hear that she was not updating me on a regular basis as that is her job. We had discussed with the estimator and Tammy that we had some furniture going to storage and for that I had two different inventories and on the day of delivery (21 days late) was notified that they did not even have that in the order. There are broken furniture, missing legs for piano chair, broken dishes and now I am sure will be another painful experience to get that resolved. I regret my decision to go with them and wish I could give negative stars. Not professional, not reliable, not dependable and sadly non-caring about customers.
Really bad professionalism and attitude from the woman on the phone. Service was fine but they arent the nicest people.
These are great folks!
