Ordered steak and over easy eggs with home fries.My steak was freezer burned and I was charged despite not eating it. My daughter’s food was good, but advise others to check the meat when you order. Definitely not returning.

I was looking for a local breakfast spot and I came across this place. I called in my order and the lady that answered seemed to not be so happy it was Monday, for lack of better words lol. I ordered the short stack pancakes with a side of home fries and turkey bacon and she said it would take 15 minutes. When I arrived I parked nearby. I walked in and told the lady that I was there for a pick up and my name. She seemed to be rushed or overwhelmed. She said it would be $13.06 and I paid with my credit card and left. When I tried the food the pancakes were tasty, the home fries needed a little salt and the turkey bacon wasnt too bad. All in all I had an ok experience.

This is my favorite local restaurant. The owner, Tristan, makes a point to welcome visitors and make sure they feel at home. The staff has always been friendly and responsive to me.My favorite breakfast is the Brownbelt. A BLT sandwich with an added fried egg and Tristan’s homemade BLT sauce. It is light and very tasty.Give it a try and enjoy! I highly recommend it.SC

Tried getting breakfast here, waited in line for over 15 mins without being acknowledged. The waitress took the order of 2 people and then went to clean a table. Never got to order. We ended up leaving. Very poor customer service .

This place was a great experience, the waitress were attentive and provided exceptional customer service. The owner of the restaurant, Mr. Tristian came to us and ensure we were okay. He interacted with us and provided some samples of the sauces they make in house which were absolutely delicious, using all natural ingredients. The coffee in this place is amazing and the food was great! I ate the waffle sandwich which is a blast of different flavors! I absolutely recommend this place to anyone. The 401 is cozy and feels like home. We sit by the window and watch the hustle and bustle of Chestnut Street. The breakfast sandwiches are mouth watering, the coffee is perfect and the fresh squeezed OJ is so delicious. Their steamed milk with honey is very tasty. The servers and cook always welcome you with a smile. Love this place.

Simply amazing. This place is a must for coffee lovers in the SGV. I get their Vietnamese Iced Coffee so much that Jimmy knows what Im getting. The only question hed ask me is Single or double? (yes, at times Id opt for the double although the single is strong enough).

Went to Cafe 401 with a friend and I must say that even though it was our first time there Tristan the owner made us feel like regulars. The food was amazing and Tristans’ special in house BLT sauce added to the flavourful food. Will definitely be coming back and will be visiting the other restaurants that Tristan owns. People are nice the food is ok. I can and have made better at home. The corned beef has is from a can, avoid it! If you dont like sour and dill avoid the special fry sauce as well.

We tried this place for Sunday brunch. What a nice place. Decor was cute, kind of French Bistro. Food is good. Service is good. The menu is great. I had a tosta mista, Portuguese for pressed ham-n-cheese. Made me feel like I was back in Portugal. Oh yeah, had me a galao!!!!

I went here for the first time and it was a terrible experience. I ordered a bacon, scrambled eggs and cheese sandwich for my mom. They charged me $7 for a blt then charged me 3.50 for the eggs. I didnt ask for a blt and the sandwich had lettuce on it. My chicken sandwich was fine but they overcharged me. Wont be coming back.

Edit: Thank you for the reply. I was upset because nobody informed me prior that it was going to take this long. We ordered to-go because we didnt have time to sit around. I am used to a typical turn around of 5-15 minutes for an egg and cheese.Original review: Took 40 minutes to make an egg and cheese sandwich. The servers were completely unapologetic and inconsiderate. Not even to mention it was the most expensive egg and cheese I have ever purchased.

Terrific spot! Impeccable service! Friendly staff that keep it professional but add a family feel to the experience! Came in with my husband and daughter( picky eaters) and they loved their food, which made for an even better experience! Officially our new go-to-spot when we visit Union! I liked this place. I wish the service was better. We had to ask for every little thing... Can we have more coffee, can we have more water...they never came to the table to see if we needed anything, we had to flag them down constantly.

We were travelling to Long Island and needed a place for a quick breakfast and coffee... (Hate getting food at gas stations or Dunkin Donuts.) This place was perfect and worth a few extra miles. Itll be a regular stop for us from here forward.

Small quaint place in Union. First time but we would return! Food was delicious. I got the California platter with home fries. My kids got kids silver dollar pancakes with chocolate chips (comes with 5-6) and waffle (1 large Belgian). Only negative is food took while to come!

I really like this cafe. Great coffee, breakfast sandwiches are amazing - totally homemade if you know what I mean. They have a personal touch on everything they make, pretty quick to get in and out and very reasonable. The atmosphere is really cool, old school coffee shop.

I love this place. Food is great and reasonably priced. The wait staff is nice and attentive. I come with my kids for brunch all the time. The place is small, though. So if you come during peak hours its often full and there is no place to stand and wait. I do highly recommend you try this place.

Poor service day today. New girl working resulted in a much longer wait to just put our order in. The food made up for the wait time but the overall experience wouldve been better had the rest of the staff assisted the new server to control the damage.

Place has potential, but the service needs improvement. Every question we asked the waitress she didnt have the answer for, these were simple questions about the menu. We went two Sundays in a row and both times they were out of fresh squeezed OJ which is on their menu. There were items missing from our order on both visits. The food we did receive was great so the place does have potential but they need better wait staff.

I really needed a great breakfast this morning and Im glad I came to Cafe 401 & Grill! The food was great, interior cute and clean, my waitress Michele was fantastic!I was having a not so great start to my day and I really needed a good experience for breakfast to boost my mood, so based on the great ratings I came here and ordered the eggs Benedict, which is like the Cadillac of breakfast sandwiches, not an entirely easy task for a grillemaster, and they made a sandwich worthy of the name.The eggs were perfectly done, the Canadian bacon was there at every bite, the hollandaise sauce was actually very tasty (many get this part wrong but not here), and to cap it off, theres really great home fried potatoes with bits of onion and red bell pepper.I scraped the plate clean.Worth the trip if youre within reasonable distance, bookmark it, check in and get a FREE espresso!

I came here with my brother and nieces and nephews service was great they accommodate you well given the small size of the restaurant but its worth it even if you need to wait afew minutes. The owner came out and greeted us all and conversed with us even gave us some extra pancakes free.. the quality of the food is great and theyre french toast and home fries are my favorite anywhere. Waitresses were very nice and just a very great overall experience its nice to see a hometown small business that seems to be thriving and not many places treat you on such a personal level

Thy are famous for a NJ pork roll which Im not a fan of, so I had a BEC on roll. Bacon is crisp but they have some sort of flavoring on the eggs which I didnt like. Service is a bit slow as well, so plan accordingly. Overall, its a small NJ cafe, dont expect too much. I would come here again and try an omelet.

I ate there once, breakfeast was great. I ordered a stack of pancakes (3), for delivery. When it arrived, they only put 2 small syrups in the bag. What am I supposed to do with that? 2 syrups for 3 big pancakes? If I am supporting your business then you should know better and give enough condiments. If I didnt have syrup at home, I wouldnt have eaten the pancakes. Sorry to give a bad rating, but dont be cheap and treat your customers fair.

This place came up on a search, I saw the great reviews and decided to give it a try with a friend. I was very disappointed to say the least, the service was extremely slow, the wait staff was inexperienced, and the food was just ok.

Please if you are in union, dont make this place your fist choice to eat at.Customer service starting with the manager and the young lady they have at the counter are just awful, terrible and very Rudefood is not good.Not to mention when I was there with my children, a customer came angry arguing about having some animal on his salad.They refuse to either give his money back or offer something else.Now I know why this place is always empty.
