Just a wonderful grocery store to shop at. For me this is one of the quickest in and out stores you can visit to shop at. Prices are cheap, and it is slightly smaller than Walmart but this also means less foot traffic. There are so many departments. The clothing department seems to have different refreshing styles. There’s a Starbucks and a very elegant looking alcohol area.

This store has the most magnificent produce! Everything is fresh, there is a vast selection of both ordinary and more unusual fruits and vegetables, and a large variety of organic items. The rest of the store is okay, although the short aisles are a bit jarring at first, as is the setup of the meat department. Come for the produce if nothing else!

The past few years Ive purchased a couple hanging plants from their garden center. Best hanging plants Ive seen in the area. Healthy, full and gorgeous. Great prices. Staff is helpful. Highly recommend.

Store was really clean, staff was friendly as soon as you walk in you are greeted . Tons of stuff on sale. I was just killing time on my lunch break and found plenty of good deals . The have a nice fishing selection and cool selection of t shirts too . I recommend this location

Over priced, but fresh selection. Staff wont help you to save your life, but if you dont need any assistance this place is a great walmart alternative. Named brand clothing, slightly higher quality and the price tag that follows, wouldnt say outrageous but definitely not cheap.

I love this store so much I wish Demotte Indiana would get one! Always have what I need fresh produce and the deli meats lasts a long time unlike strack grocery stores..... and the people there are so friendly.

The two most important reasons I frequent this store are the quality of their produce and their sushi. Grocery day is always “sushi treat day” for me.

I went there to get a fish. One employee was nice, he said he would get his manager for us. I ended up waiting 30 minutes before i left without getting any fish because the manager never showed up. Very disappointed.

Biggest Meijer Ive ever been in! Loved it, and their shelves were stocked!

Meijers has become a true bottle neck regarding customer service !!! The consistency of this lingers at Portage, Michigan City and at the Valparaiso locations . A customer shouldn’t have to complain about the lack of cashiers in order to hear a call on the intercom for assistance then all of sudden an additional 3 registers open up . To have an associate inform you that they are doing the best they can is unacceptable ! No one is policing the traffic in the store . No one wants to hear we don’t have employees especially as the prices keep escalating on all products. I ask management what is your plan to correct customer service?

I love the $4.99 sushi Wednesdays. I was truly having a bad day. To still see a wide selection this evening. Turned my night around. I never get a change to see any employees in that area. But it would be nice to have containers of spicy sauce sold separately. Im in love!! 😁😂

Watch out for the entitled little psycho that works there named Makayla. She is a lazy, rude, and dangerous person. She could care less if you have a full cart, or children shopping with you..you better move out of her way when shes coming through with her stock picking cart. She almost hit us several times and so I finally was fed up enough to ask her what her name is and ask what her problem is, she refused to respond what her name was and instead, yelled at me for confronting her. I decided to take it to a manager who showed concern. Basically, nothing will be done because 1 less employee is harder to swallow, than 1 less customer. Seriously sad that they hire such ridiculous staff.

The employee at the deli tonight was extremely rude and unprofessional. He didn’t have his name tag on our else I would give his name but he had somewhat long black hair. We walked up to the counter and no other customers were there. When we walked up to the counter the employee just stood there and stared at us, didn’t even greet us or asked what we would like. We told him the first item that we wanted and he just walked away without a word. When he came to give us our lunch meat he physically just threw it on the counter and proceeded to stare at us. We wanted another item and told him so and when he walked away he threw his hands up like we were an inconvenience. We said thank you before leaving and once again, not another word was said to us. Made my mother and I very uncomfortable.

It really makes me happy seeing the people at the front doors. They are consistent, make me feel welcome. Even if I am having a poor day, I cannot help but smile.

Great selection and it is all presented nicely the Valpo store feels a little older than the Portage store despite being newer Im also not a fan of how the Valparaiso location is organized it doesnt have good flow in the grocery dept.

This evening I went to Meijer in Valparaiso. Brooke in the bakery went out of her way to get a specific bakery item I wanted for my husband from the freezer for his birthday. When I was checking out at the self checkout Tina W. Noticed that I was purchasing 10 Avocados. They were an item in the 10 for $10 mix and match. She informed me that since I was purchasing 10 items I was allowed to get an 11th item from the mix and match list for free. I have been shopping at Meijer since it opened and no other employee has ever brought this to my attention. I wanted to say a public thank you to Brooke and Tina. You are both the picture of superior customer service!!

Best big box store around. Very clean

It started out great when it opened. However it is going down hill. Items in store hard to find do to always being moved around. Items not always on self. Pallets of products in isles and blocking shelf. Lack of employees around store to help customers. Produce quality going down hill. One good thing to say is the store is cleaner than Wal-Mart.

Fruit that I get has been good so far. Dont carry fat free dressing. But over all pretty decent store to shop. Always clean.

Store is clean, but many out of stocks in grocery, particularly ad items. Probably due to COVID peramiters. That being said, not enough face to face cashier registers open. They rely too much on self scanners and people only use those for an arm full of items.

This is a very big, nice, and clean Meijer store. I can usually find everything Im looking for and more. There are plenty of serviced checkout lanes and quick self checkouts (20 or less items). The bathrooms are always well maintained. I enjoy shopping here! Plus, Starbucks inside this store for a little enjoyment as you shop!

Worst stocked Meijer in NWI. Lunch meat sits in boxes getting warm with no attendant for ATLEAST 30 minutes which I shopped the store. Many many many spaces in the shelves are empty. Just a mess!

I really like going here. It is fairly clean and the employees are pretty nice. They have a lot of products, but a lot of them are meijer brands though. Other than that this is typically the first store I think of to go to for food or supplies.

Had my first time visit here today for the Ken4Kids Christmas shopping event through my daughters school. This store is immaculate compared to the Portage one. The store has a very similar layout as the Portage Walmart. This is like the 5☆ of all Meijers 😅 (I am seriously impressed by this store.. but it IS Valpo..). I only went as far as the toys aisles and the registers. I did pass the clothing section. The kids section had beautiful selections with many 50% off signs. The board games were buy one get one half off, as well as many big-name toys such as Barbie, etc. The toy section was only 4 or so double aisles and a bit small, but they were much, much more organized than Walmart and pretty well stocked. While I shopped I price checked with a quick Google search, as I always do, and I compared to Walmart. They were obviously more expensive than Walmart (all of the Meijers are), most toys were $3-4 higher. The cashier was super friendly. Overall, I would return to this location for the cleanliness, and organization of this store. 5 stars from me :)

This place continues to go down hill following In Walmart’s footsteps. Two- three registers open with half of the self checkout lines closed. The attendants at the self checkouts tend to act as though your a thief because they carry on with personal conversations and miss you scanning the bulk items.

You need more cashiers!! I waited 35 minutes w/ 3 cashiers. Selfservice were close.

Suddenly changing hours mutiple times to where they close all night. Are night shift workers not allowed to buy groceries. Cant they send a notification through their app so i dont waste a 20min trip for them to be closed. Rediculous

Truly hate going there! Just because of check out, never enough workers for person to person check out. So then SELF check out is supposed to be convenient BUT NEVER IS!!! Always feel like a criminal everytime I use it because ASSISTANCE NEEDED comes up whenever I scan something and they watch a video over and over just to see if I did take something! Just tired of it!!!

This store has practically everything you need. Only overall negative is that it is very hard to find an employee on the floor, which leaves you searching for ambiguous products (like cheese cloth or breadcrumbs). There also seem to be some ordering issues. The spice section is almost always wiped out. That being said, I do my weekly shopping here and love it.

Loved it. Neat. clean. Customer friendly and well stocked. Associates showed me the area I needed to find the items I was looking for with a smile!

Had to grab a prescription and windshield wipers. The wiper selection was not really what I wanted. Size 19 wipers are in short supply. Pharmacy helped me check out quickly.

Nice clean store and has good produce section, the store should do better about keepjng inventory stocked. Also checking out is always a challenge since they never have a sufficient number of cashiers for the volume of customers. Pharmacy does a nice job.

Everything worked out well, as expected. Down to the wire with the midnight closing, Just left Chesterton Jewel, after AGAIN getting up to the counter and having to argue about register ringing stuff up different than marked. Jewel tried getting an extra $9, I noticed because I only had 5 items. How many times has Jewel got me when I had more items and they slipped it by me. Sorry, play fair Jewel, or Im going to the big box stores.

Every time I go to the deli and asked for one pound shaved, employees roll their eyes, complain, or just dont cut it shaved like I specifically asked. Tired of having to drive to another store just to get lunch meat. Awful

As of mid-January Valpo Meijer is offering in-store shopping and curbside pickup. Masks are required for shoppers and all staff is seen wearing masks. They seem to be working hard to keep shelves stocked, and the store is kept clean.

Most employees are nice and kind. One told me last week that I needed to hurry up right now when he sent me to find another shirt because their items often dont have tags. Um, maybe teach your employees a little kindness? There is one cashier that works late night that is very sweet and nice though. She gets 10 stars!Unlike EVERY other retailer, if they lose the tag, the items have no way of identifying the UPC or price. Its kind of crazy to think that they wont sell you something if the tag falls off, or if its returned, etc. Everywhere else has this. I have literally tried to buy a carthartt hoodie in the past only to be told no since they couldnt find a tag and didnt feel like going to look for a similar item for a price. Get with it Meijer!Also, the Portage Meijer has beautiful produce. The Valpo one is always on the verge of going bad. There was literally a melted / moldy red pepper in the bin yesterday. Just really gross and I dont think they care much. Ive never seen anyone in the produce section. Its a shame because its a huge section and could be really nice.

Staff was helpful (when you could find them).The shelves were kind of emptyI guess that should be expected on a Sunday afternoon.My cashier Daniele was very helpful. She went out of her way to assist me in unloading my cartand checking out.

I love this store. Its bigger than the one in our town, its always clean and they have a large selection of everything.

Best produce by far. Thats the biggest reason I shop at Meijer. They also have very helpful and friendly employees and the store is usually very clean. Just dont think you are going to get Clorox wipes or any kind of Lysol here on any day. I go to this Valparaiso Meijer and the one in Portage. I have not seen those items in forever.

They have good produce, and a good selection of produce, compared to other stores in my area. They have all the general necessities, so I like to come here if I dont feel like shopping around or need to make my grocery shopping pretty quick.

I was in the area to drop of my taxes, so I decided to stop at this Meijers. The store was nice and well stocked. My experience was when it came to checking out, it left a bad taste in my mouth. I was being profiled. Two Customer service employees were in the front talking, when I was checking out. One of them stood on the side/back of me. I knew I was being watched. After, I finished checking out she went back up front and started talking with her co-worker. I started to say something but in some cases its better to be quite. There is nothing in Meijers or any other store that I would steal. I was raised with morals and values. While some people are born and raised by ignorant parents. You dont have to be a certain color to steal/or not steal. If you going to profile people at Meijers in Valpo! Profile all your customers!
