I purchased a couch that was in stock and available, but when the delivery people came, they had the wrong couch. The couch I had ordered was not in stock, was not available, and Walter E Smithe was unable to fulfill my order. After 11 days of waiting and holding my money, they told me they were going to send me money back and they hoped I would choose to come back to the store and purchase a different couch.Terrible experience, wasted my time, and left me couch less for far longer than necessary.The unwillingness to make this right, and to instead simply give my money back and say whoops was not at all adequate.

When we arrived at the store, we found that door was locked. After a few minutes, someone finally appeared only to tell us that we would have to wait in the car because the store was “ at capacity”. As we were getting back in our car, we noticed a couple leave. We waited another 10 minutes then decided to walk around the outside to see actually how crowded it was inside. There were zero customers and about 3 sales people standing around talking. I need to furnish my living room, but will be doing it with another retailer who doesn’t make me feel like they’re doing me a favor by letting me shop in their store. Smithe must be doing pretty well to be able to turn away motivated customers.

After getting off to a rocky start with two different sales people we found Jessica Carter who went above and beyond. She was the best Ive ever experienced there and at competitive stores. We were so happy to purchase from her. Going forward we will always ask for her.

Good furniture and best part is that they can customize everything... on expensive side though and rightly so if everything is customized and not mass produced... not for people on a budget... and if you are then sometimes you might feel that you are ignored... still great collection

Wow! The audacity of a sales person asking you “did you come here to work”! Really. Should really be careful how you approach African American customers and the questions you ask. Shame you on!!

The furniture is a bit more expensive than other stores, but you get what you pay for. Ive bought cheaper furniture in the past from other stores and the quality just doesnt come close. Ive bought 3 pieces from Walter E. Smithe. I had some issues with a sofa, but it was under warranty and the service department was very easy to work with, and actually willing to help. When I went to buy furniture Jessica was trying to find the best piece in my budget and style, rather than just making a sale. This is the first place Ill look the next time I buy furniture.

My husband and I visited the Vernon Hills store a couple weeks ago looking to furnish a lower level of our home. We are finishing the room so it is a blank canvas. Fred helped us tremendously by asking lots of questions that helped us to clarify what we wanted. He spent the next couple hours with us as we sat on a endless amount of sectionals and then helped us to narrow down our choices. He has an extensive knowledge of furniture and design! Unfortunately, we didnt find anything that day but plan to be back. I suggest you ask for Fred. He is the BEST!

Despite us walking into Smithes employee holiday party, Karen helped us with our sofa purchase with her full attention. Her methodical guidance was entirely professional. We are thrilled with our new furniture for price and quality.

Really pretty furniture, really Awful sales & management staff. My husband and I were treated poor at best.I dont know if this is the behavior of people in general in this area or just the snooty and unhelpful staff at the Lincolnshire location. I was embarrassed for the whole town if this is how the staff at SMITHE represents the area.Unacceptable, snooty, unhelpful and unresponsive sales staff. Not one or two but three different people treated us like we didnt matter.

Purchased a sectional leather couch looked like a booth when i put in our home !! the leather was not the same as the one that was on there floor at There store the leather was hard as a rock would not let us return, or exchange, 5K DOWN THE DRAIN and just gave to on of my employees
